Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Videnyr sits himself down. He takes his sword from his belt and sets it down on the ground. The hag stares deeply into his eyes, he shows no fear. "My name is Videnyr. I have sailed across the sea to avenge my fathers death. He was slain in battle a while ago by foreign powers. I was only ten. After his death, his allies had left me and my mother. As we sat alone in our castle, my mother died to sickness. Lords close to us held the throne until I came of age to rule. I had searched for answers of my fathers death but had found nothing. Once realizing that everyone had abandoned me, I hopped a ship to Almaris to destroy those who killed my father. He was ripped from me when I had just begun to understand the world. Now I am goi-"

"You sound angry, how do you hope to kill those who wronged you without hurting the innocent?" The hag interjected.

"I hope to rule a nation. With strength I can defend and lead my people through wars and dangers. I want to be a strong king, ruling with not an iron fist, I will always be willing to help and adhere to the reasonable whims of my subjects. I know that my people will need a strong ruler, not one who only strives for himself. One who isn't afraid to do what is right." Videnyr stands up, grabbing his sword. "I hope to see you once again." He turns on his heel before tossing a coin to the woman. He pushes the flaps of the tent aside as he exits into the world he is prepared to join.
