Gaudy Cochran has spent much of his life in taverns. His father is a drunk, he has been told his mother was a washerwoman however he never has had the privilege of meeting her. Born on the continent of Arcas in Helena he has little knowledge of history except for what interests him. The stories of knights of Oren from continents past are something that Gaudy grew up idolising, hearing men talk in the pubs and taverns of Helena.
As he grew, so did his desire to mirror the stories of the great heroes he heard about. Still though, he spent much of his time mixing with miscreants. This is what has made him self-serving. Realising that he must act in his own self-interest is he is to find any sort of success in his life. Having these images in his head, whilst not formally trained, Gaudy has done his best to emulate an Imperial Landsknecht soldier. Through his late-teens till early twenties, Gaudy found work in taverns, collecting mugs and helping with food all the while listening to pub-talk about the Orenian empire. He became somewhat skilled at dice and card games, giving way to him thinking that he must be lucky. Having won money in these games of chance, he has purchased himself a cheap set of armour which he wears almost constantly.
Now in his mid-twenties, Gaudy sees himself as ready to begin working and earning his stripes. He sees the best way to do this as becoming a military man, but first he must shed his old drinking habits and convince himself to begin a new.
Gaudy takes in a the mans appearance, not entirely trusting the well-dressed gentleman’s intentions.
“Grand aspirations I s’pose.” says Gaudy as he continues to continues to eye the man. He allows his wary presentation to break, attempting to look at ease.
“Aye, aspirations. Would be grand if y’could direct me to a bar though.” Gaudy finishes.
Gaudy looks around the market and thanks the man for his direction as he continues forward. In his head Taverns always have work for men like Gaudy.
