    In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Consistent communication between players is a necessity, however, the best way to avoid powergaming in my mind is to simply acknowledge that we (the singular player) aren't the only aspect of the collective story. Be accommodating and wording emotes so that they are always open-ended for another player to interact with them while acknowledging and respecting the rules at all times.
    In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: By utilizing information gathered OOC, honestly ruins RP as a concept. Especially for people who are trying to spy, lie, deceit, or otherwise use underhanded tricks will have something they've worked towards ruined by an unfair advantage. It is extremely demoralizing to either see or have someone use metagamed information and will result in interactions that otherwise wouldn't have occurred.

Roleplay Scenario:

Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

"Oh, I just, uh…" you stutter, tensing up. You eye the crone, then back outside the tent. For a moment, the air thickens with anticipation, until… "I lived at a village. A small quiet and a heart warming village. where nothing ever seemed to happen so i decided that i would join the Empire of man"
