In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Powergaming is basically when a player attempts, forces a situation or an unrealistic action to give themselves an unfair advantage, ignoring realism and forcing an impossible action on a player, preventing them from reacting. for example "Vaeryn swings his sword, instantly cutting through the opponent's armor, severing an arm and knocking them unconscious".
It should be avoided in roleplay because it is unrealistic lore wise and it gives an unfair advantage, taking away a player's ability to respond to their action.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming is the use of knowledge that you have obtained out of character on your in game character, when realistically they should have no knowledge of it unless the information was obtained in character. This includes platforms like Discord, forums or the wiki page. An example would be when someone hears on Discord that another player is hiding in a certain place, your character goes straight there in game even though they were never told or shown that information in roleplay. It should be avoided because it breaks immersion, it's not realistic and it also gives unfair advantage.

Vaeryn Arayra was born somewhere within the Viridian Enclave. His early memories were very blurry, but growing up among the commoners, he learned the value of caution and self-reliance from a very early age, emphasizing that survival depended on awareness and wit rather than strength.

While his peers dreamed about status, power, and glory, Vaeryn always kept his head down and observed the world and people around him. His life took a dark turn when his only parents abandoned him at the age of seven, and so alone without anyone to protect him, he wandered around the Viridian Enclave, surviving on his own. Vaeryn's memories of his parents slowly faded over time, at a certain point he could no longer even recall their faces, still deep within his heart he longed for the warmth of a family. As time passed, he became used to the nomadic life, travelling to cities, towns, and settlements, taking honest jobs in exchange for food and supplies. The pain he felt slowly became numb, a small reminder that the path ahead wasn't always going to be easy, especially when honest work wasn't always available, he relied on his quick hands and careful footing to survive, resorting to theft while learning how to move through crowds and busy streets unnoticed. He would often share a portion of his stolen supplies with people in need, showing that even during difficult times, he never lost his sense of compassion for other people.
Years of experience and hardships refined his instincts and awareness, teaching him patience, restraint, and adaptability but at the end, his biggest flaw was his inability to rely on or trust anyone but himself. Althought Vaeryn Arayra did not possess any grand ambitions, he continued to travel around in search of a purpose, believing that there is something more to this life.

Roleplay Scenario:

The traveller has just arrived in a small town. As they look around, their gaze is met with run down houses and shops. They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”

((How does your character respond? Please ensure your response is at least six sentences long, and uses at least two actions.))

The worn shack is suddenly engulfed in light as a hand lifted the tattered flap, pushing it aside, then steps through before taking a brief moment to assess his surroundings. A cold expression filled his face as he slowly moved forward, taking a few steps before coming to a stop, not close enough to be vulnerable, nor too far to be mistaken as a coward. His arms remain hidden beneath his robes as his eyes met with the old hag's gaze, almost like he was studying her. He slowly draws closer before taking the offered seat before him. With a cautious motion, the Dark Elf slowly pushed back his hood, revealing his ash-tinted dark hair and dark blue eyes.
"You speak as if you already know me" he replied, his tone controlled and unreadable. Both his hands retreated beneath his robes once more. "So, you want a story from me? I'm genuinely not the type to be a storyteller, especially when someone claims to have expected my arrival" He studied her for a brief moment, as silence filled the room before he began to speak once again, "You mistake confidence for knowledge. If you truly knew about my arrival, then you would not ask for my story, unless you really wanted to hear it from me" A small crescent moon appeared within the corner of his lips. "Alright, if you really insist on hearing something, then hear this, I am simply a traveler with no destination" He confidently said before taking a brief pause of silence. "But tell me, did you really expect me to be so foolish as to reveal my ambitions to a stranger?" A faint sigh would be heard coming out of his mouth.
He slowly stood from the seat before placing a few minas on the table. Turned around and slowly walked towards the exit. The tattered flap let light spill in once more, engulfing his silhouette. "Whether you are real or just another fraud, I have no interest in this. Good luck with your business, old hag" The fabric falls shut, swallowing his presence back into the quiet small town.
