Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Dejene pauses, just long enough to let the moment breathe.
He does not startle. He does not reach for anything. He inclines his head in polite acknowledgment, then steps fully into the tent, letting the canvas fall shut behind him before he sitting where indicated... carefully, balanced, as if ready to rise again if needed.
“My story?” he repeats softly, a faint, practiced smile touching his mouth but not his eyes.
“I’m a merchant by day and a bard by night. Textiles, curios, information the rarer and exotic the better. You say you’ve been expecting me. I’d like to know why.”

Holds the rank of apprentice for a mysterious and secretive organisation simply known as The Procurers. Not much is known about the organisation except that they have business networks and political interests throughout the multiverse and are known amongst wealthy circles for getting their hands on anything or anyone for the right price.
To the public Dejene's parents are seen as respectable merchants trading in exotic and antique wares however their business also serves as a cell for the organisation. Although Dejene's parents are not Procurers themselves his recently deceased grandfather was so he has been well groomed to step into the role of a Procurer's Apprentice.
His extended family are held close by tradition and wealth and are well connected with aspirations of nobility; however as part of his apprenticeship he cannot receive any financial support from them for five years and instead must rely on his own wit and trade and the relationships he fosters in the world.
Dejene’s youngest brother died tragically right before his eyes having been run down by a Paladin on horseback in pursuit of a heretic. Dejene knows his father loves him in his own way and even though he has never said it he feels that his father blames him for his brother’s death. He is the eldest of 4 remaining siblings and is very close and protective of his family.
Although it is hard for him being away from them Dejene appreciates that self reliance is character building and experience teaches the most valuable of lessons no classroom will ever do. With that said he is a well educated, charismatic young man with a flair for story telling and from a high achieving predominantly merchant family with a few artisans, civil servants and fine artists thrown into the mix.
A lot is expected of Dejene both from his family and himself so this creates pressure (which he distracts himself by with his obsession for the arts) especially because he is the eldest to the family matriarch and now following in his grandfather’s footsteps as a Procurers Apprentice.
One thing The Procurers know well is that wherever there is war there is a need for their services and so Dejene has been sent to the madness that is Argatros as both a rite of passage and to get him as far away as possible from his family and their influence for his training.
Until instructed otherwise he is to simply gather Intel, create contacts, seek out and pursue opportunities for The Procurers.
Flaws
Doggedly obsessed with the goings on concerning entertainers, bards and establishments that host performance especially the big rooms with famous players like courts, theatres and concert halls.
An unattractive eagerness to stand out and impress his parents and The Procurers.
Has issues with Paladin’s and religious fanatics.
