The body belonged to a normal girl before. As a alchemist, she was inquisitive and ready to learn, frequently researching plants, brews, and simple formulas. She went into a magical forest to find rare plants that neither a book nor a market could provide. She discovered a flower there that was unlike anything she had ever seen. None of her texts contained any mention of it. Its beauty seemed unreal, and its colors were gentle and almost welcoming. She reached out to touch it, fascinated. It was not a plant or a flower. It was a parasite that lives by taking up residence in living things. The parasite released innumerable tiny spines as soon as she touched it, piercing her skin and entering her bloodstream. They took up residence in her brain, where the organism spread and tore through tissue.These days, it consumed her consciousness and took control of her nervous system
With the human identity gone, the parasite took a name for itself: Howdy. Using the memories and learned behavior of its host, Howdy walks, speaks, laughs, and mimics human emotion well enough to blend in. As time passed, the parasite’s roots began to surface. One eye was fully replaced by a blooming flower, the center of its awareness. Vines spread along the left arm and leg, breaking through the skin in soft pink marks and small blossoms. Those areas slowly lose sensation as the parasite claims them
Howdy lives in the human body as if it were its own, with a single purpose: keep it alive until it no longer suffices. When the body can no longer sustain it, Howdy will simply move on and begin again. To avoid suspicion, it offers simple explanations. The flower eye is blamed on a failed alchemical experiment, a botanical curse or exposure to unstable forest magic. The vines are dismissed as lingering side effects, unpleasant, but “under control.” Until then, plays its role… waiting for the day this body finally runs out
Situation of the previous scenario:
The parasite didn’t react much to the question. She simply leaned against the bar, posture relaxed as if she had told this story many times before. The flower in her left eye stayed still while the other eye focused on the man “I’m from a village” Howdy said “I was learning alchemy, nothing advanced, mostly plants, potions, that kind of thing” She shrugged “I went into a magical forest looking for rare herbs and found something I shouldn’t have touched”
She gestured vaguely toward her eye “Experiment went wrong, forest magic, botanical stuff, blah blah blah. Anyways, the healers said I was lucky to survive" Howdy took a drink and continued, her voice was very casual “I'm still working, looking for plants and other things, trying to keep going, you know?” That kind of action usually worked for her, she hoped the response would be sufficient unless the man decided to push further (I still haven't decided whether I should use feminine pronouns or just use 'it' to refer to the parasite)
