Jhin was born in the druidic settlement of Talus Grove to father Desh Hoffman, a carpenter and master of woodworking, and mother Sorenna Hollyfawn, a wood elf druid who tended to the orchard the family lived on. The couple reside there now, living off the fruit and wood of the trees they curate, and work closely with the tavernmaster under Elder Tree Elanweya to produce spiced ales that have become wildly popular with the locals*. (*not sure if that's an allowable detail, thanks for being patient with me).
Jhin is the only child of the family, although he grew many close friendships with the local youth. Having no interest in pursuing studies within the hierarchic Druidic Order, Jhin apprenticed under his father and fell in love with building things, and as an adult decided to leave home to pursue his dream of founding his own homestead.
Jhin believes in the value of mistakes, and sees them as the best way to learn. He is constantly on the lookout for newfound skills and takes every opportunity to watch a master craftsman or artisan work.
The story of Jhin Homeseeker begins in the free trade state of Sutica where he hopes to find passage north where he can see the grand cathedrals of the Holy Oren Empire and the towering sandstone walls of Al-Faiz. Jhin ultimately seeks others to complete his dream; he wants to share the home he builds with people he loves.
"Well not that it's particularly any business of yours, I'm here to study. I was just about to go hunting for the back alleys, dark corners, and hole-in-the-wall spots frequented by the masters of the craft. I'd say I got a lovely greeting too, but somehow I get the feeling you're about to sell me something. I invite you to prove me wrong, or better yet confess to your knowledge of where I can find the folks I'm looking for."
