Simkin Greenwood grew up in Honeyhill, a small halfling village in Aevos. His dad Tobbin worked the fields and his mum Rosie was the village herbalist, she was the one who first taught Simkin which plants could heal and which ones could hurt. He had an older sister, Milla, who was always louder and bolder than him, dragging him to every festival and drinking night whether he wanted to go or not. It was a good life, simple and quiet, the way halfling life tends to be. Then one season a fire tore through the edge of the village and took out a good chunk of the woodland around it. Nobody ever really figured out who started it, but most reckoned it was outsiders who didn't care what they burned. Something changed in Simkin after that. He stopped wanting to be around people much and started spending more and more time in the forest, learning to live off it, talking to it almost. These days he keeps to himself mostly, wandering the forests of Aevos, looking after the land and the animals in it. Every now and then he'll show up at a settlement to trade potions for whatever he needs, then disappear back into the trees.
The traveller has just arrived in a small town. As they look around, their gaze is met with run down houses and shops. They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”

Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to just walk in like that.
*scratches the back of his neck, a couple of leaves falling from his messy brown hair
I'm from near Honeyhill... well, used to be. There was a fire. After that I just stayed in the forest.
I'm not looking for anything grand. Just want to look after the land and its creatures.
