Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

"Oh, so you have been expecting me?" Your eyes dart across the figure of the old hag, taken aback by her statement as you did not expect anyone in this shoddy ol' town to know you. "Well then, if you've been expecting me then you should know why I'm here." You reminisce about the very past that has brought you here, a tale of betrayal and loss. "It hasn't been too long now since I have been chased out of my home, perhaps nearing a month?" While time has progressed tremendously, you can't help but tense up whenever it is brought up, as it only feels like yesterday. "They chased me out, for a crime I would dare not commit" an act of treason, it was believed to be. "I never killed him, the one I considered to be my own flesh and blood, even if his family and reign seemed distant from where I stood." Nicholai refers to his closest ally, the son of the Lord of the village who was soon to take the responsibility of caring for their people. "James' death was shocking to us all, but never in a millennium did I think the cause would fall onto me." Your fists tighten, while your breathing becomes erratic as this moment of treachery clouds your mind once more. "It was an obvious setup, whoever really ended him did so knowing my position at the time, if I wasn't so conveniently leaving the same lavatory as to which he was killed, hoistering my blade to be used in a fair duel shortly after... this feels all too servicable for an act of murder." You almost want to punch the stale and rotten air that surrounds this place, yet you know very well this is the only place that may lead to protection. "I am aware of who you harbour here, even though I know I am of innocence, for my own sake and livelihood...I must choose to stay here, the villagers would never dare cross into territories such as these." You hopelessly admit your vulnerabilities, as you continue to be hunted to this day, hoping for any day where you can rest with both eyes closed.
