    In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: I would say that I avoid powergaming by realizing that my character can't do any/everything. if they are stabbed, beat, or harmed, they can't just get up like its nothing. I also try to avoid situations where someone would have the opportunity to powergame, as that means that i'm less likely to powergame in the first place.
    In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: It breaks immersion in roleplay, as it brings in things that your character shouldn't know in any way, shape, or form at the time. It can cause a party to gain an unfair advantage, or use it to bypass interactions that they would've had to do otherwise.

Roleplay Scenario:

Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

((How do you respond?))

"So, I assume you know of me..." He takes a seat, looking over at the woman, a blank expression across his face "Deken Ironwood... The last of my cult. But, you didn't ask for that, did you? you want my story." He leans forward, a wide smile crossing his face "Lets start from the beginning..." He closes his eyes, as if recalling old memories. "I was born into a cult. It was called 'The Cult Of the Solar Gaze' internally. Obsessed with the sun, and the 'god' that lives within it." He sighs, leaning back somewhat, rubbing his face. "My childhood up to 10 was... well, as normal as a cult members would have been. Then... at 10, we have a ceremony. To see who the gaze has fallen upon... and it fell upon me. So, I was made to become a priest." He lifts his sleave, revealing a burn mark resembling the sun, with a large pupal in the middle. "I hated it... or, i do now. I was too brainwashed at the time to know any better. I stayed there as a priest in training until 15, and a full priest until 18. Then... they wanted me to become a grand priest." He lets out a shaky sigh, as if even the idea caused distress and fear in him. "To be a grand priest, you had to 'bathe' in the blood of the solar gaze. Or... magma. If you lived, you were seen as worthy, fully embraced in its gaze. I... I couldn't go through that. The ceremony left me with a burn across my face, i couldn't become a grand priest... So i ran away. and I ran, and ran, and ran..." He sighs, lowering his head, rubbing his face "I... i lived in the wilds for a few years. when i returned... they were all gone. dead. killed by the knights of the kingdom, the church raided, destroyed. Everyone was dead... i had to bury my parents, and my family that day. I took a few things with me, including what i'm wearing. They're... grand priest robes, and then... I left. And i wandered. and now... I'm here, talking to you." He stands up, turning around, then pausing. "Am i what you expect, or am I different?"
