Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

"My father and mother hail from the desert, but immigrated to this land when I was young. They took me with them, obviously. I was raised as a scroll-etcher, but I never really enjoyed being stuck in some room, filled with the scent of parchment paper." He smirked, and shook his head. His hand scratched the bandana that kept some of his hair away from his forehead. "But now I'm a soldier. The life of a mercenary isn't exactly the best for living a full life, but I enjoy it. It's nice to visit all the places written about in those books I was forced to thumb over, and meet the people that live there. Right now I'm just in-between stops, but I'm always willing to listen for awhile if you can tell me more about this place. It seems interesting."
