In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: “Powergaming” is a term used mostly in gaming and roleplay communities. It generally means trying to gain unfair advantages or forcing outcomes in ways that reduce fairness, realism, or fun for others.
Powergaming should be avoided in roleplay because roleplay is a collaborative story, not a contest to force outcomes. When someone powergames, they take away other players' ability to react, make choices, or influence the story. This can make interactions feel unfair, unrealistic, and less enjoyable for everyone involved. Allowing actions to have uncertainty and giving others a chance to respond creates more engaging, balanced, and believable roleplay.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming is using information that you know as a player but that your character would not know in the roleplay or game.
    Example of metagaming
You watch another player's livestream and learn their secret location.
Your character has never been told that location.
You go there anyway because you, the player, know where it is.

Metagaming should be avoided because it blurs the line between player knowledge and character knowledge, creating unfair advantages and reducing immersion. Roleplay works best when characters act based on what they have realistically learned in the story. Using out-of-character information can undermine investigations, secrets, character development, and the experiences of other players, making the roleplay less authentic and enjoyable for everyone.

((Share your character’s backstory! Please ensure it’s at least six sentences, written in third person, and references to the server lore, including a current realm in our map.))

Grak Bonebreaker was born in the realm of Skullcano, a harsh and unforgiving land known for its volcanic mountains, ash-covered plains, and constant tribal warfare. He was raised by his father, Zargak, a respected war chief, and his mother, Ugaraj, a skilled hunter who taught him how to survive in the wilderness. Growing up alongside two older brothers, Grak learned from an early age that strength, discipline, and loyalty were necessary to survive in his homeland.

Life in Skullcano was brutal. Rival clans frequently fought over territory and resources, forcing Grak to mature quickly and become a capable warrior. Despite his family's status, he often felt constrained by the traditions of his tribe and dreamed of carving out his own legacy beyond the lands of his birth.

Everything changed when a conflict between neighboring clans resulted in the death of his father and the collapse of his family's influence. Refusing to serve under the rival chief who seized power, Grak gathered his armor and weapons and left Skullcano behind. He now wanders the realm seeking glory, wealth, and worthy battles, determined to build a name so great that even the strongest kingdoms will remember it.

If you’re stuck on what to add, consider the following:
- Your character’s family (parents, siblings, etc.)
- Where your character is from (include a real place on the map)
- What kind of environment was your character raised in
- Why your character left home

Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 27

Roleplay Scenario:

The traveller has just arrived in a small town. As they look around, their gaze is met with run down houses and shops. They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”

((How does your character respond? Please ensure your response is at least six sentences long, and uses at least two actions.))

Grak Bonebreaker stepped through the doorway, his heavy armored boots thudding against the worn wooden floor. He narrowed his glowing ember-orange eyes at the old hag before slowly lowering himself into the offered chair. The massive orc rested a gauntleted hand on the pommel of his weapon and let out a low grunt.

"I come from Skullcano," he said, his deep voice rumbling through the small shack. "A land of ash, fire, and war. My father was a war chief, and my mother taught me how to survive when the world wished me dead."

Grak crossed his arms over his chest and glanced toward the floating candles. "The clan that once followed my family is gone. Another chief sits where my father once stood, and I have no interest in bowing my head to him." He leaned forward slightly, the metal of his armor creaking. "I left to forge my own path. I seek strength, glory, and a legacy that will outlive even the mountains of Skullcano."

The orc rose from his chair and stood at his full towering height. "What do I hope to make of myself? A name that kingdoms fear and warriors respect."

"Oh, I just, uh…" The traveler stutters, tensing up. They eye the crone, then back outside the shack. For a moment, the air thickens with anticipation, until…
