Willem Kmetsch was born in Rubern of the Kingdom of Haense, His mother was Bellamy Kmetsch and his father is unknown. At an early age of 5, his mother taught him all the things he needed to know, and gave him basic knowledge that he could use. She also taught him about a tree called the Jovian Oak, as she has always wanted to see one. Willem grew up poor, as his mother was a shop owner and didn't get much business. At the age of 6, he started doing odd jobs for the folks around Rubern, helping them with basic tasks for any amount of money they would give him. Willem also grew up without many friends, as his mother did not let him near the other children. This continued until Willem turned 13, his mother grew sick and for a time could not run their shop so Willem took over by having his mother tell him what to do. They got a bit more business this way as people would come by just to talk to Willem. At the age of 15, however, one day like any other his mother went out to stroll the streets of Rubern, and never came back. Passerby's say that they saw and hear her whistling as she walked near the entrance of Rubern, they say she just walked away. After this incident, Willem took to living on his own, and at the age of 16, left Rubern. For two years he traveled slowly across the land, living freely. He learned many traits from old sailors and adventurers from the taverns he would sometimes sleep at, learning how to fight and fend for himself. He was taught how to handle a sword well. For two years he has had no goal, and nowhere to go all but remembering about the tree that his mother once told him about. Now at the age of 18, he is broadening his horizons and traveling the world to see all the sights he can. Also while fighting monsters of course.
