I was born the son of a blacksmith, and a herbalist. My younger brother came to be in the family a few short years after, this made me happy as he took after father in the skills of a blacksmith. I however was more concerned with books. Growing up, I would read Haegen sorties of magicians and magic from far away lands. Even under the teachings of The Red Faith, my interests always fell upon wielding the powers of the universe, my brother wanted to build the constructs and empowering of our fathers work. In my later teen years I found my way to be a scholar at the local college. Making my money for the family teaching lessons and instilling knowledge into the younglings, while Haegen spent his time beating away at the anvil. I would prefer to spend my time practice the arcane arts, but a nasty encounter with a necromancer caused any form of magic to be outlawed here long before I was born. So my family lead a simple life with our shop, and me at the school. Things were simple, things were good, until father came down with the Forge Cough. At first it wasn't that bad, our mother kept him mostly healthy, but it didn't go away. Before long he couldn't work at the forge anymore, and soon after he was completely bed ridden. Not even two day's after his funeral, our mother came back with a new man. He didn't work, so Haegen and I had to compensate for the entire house hold now. It was maybe a month before I noticed the money that was going missing. After my brother and I saw how poorly he treated mom, that we decided to leave. So for a few more years we saved in secret, until we could afford to gain passage Norland. On the night that we left we went to the town army, that doubled back as the town guard, they swore to protect our mother when we left and rid her of that worthless man. And with that being done, Haegen and I left for the new world, and left to finally explore the arcane arts.
