I hope this city has many things to offer for my new life!" He smiles while holding his belongings.

I would explain to the gentlemen that I wasn't here for wealth, but for adventure. I'd tell him that I was looking to further my education to get a good career, and that I was very excited to start off my journey here. I'd tell him that it was very kind of him to greet me, and that I'd hope to see him around soon.
