What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Alchemy

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Alchemy plain and simple is LOTC version of chemistry. Add A and B to C and you get D. The alchemist starts with a regent. Regents are items which contain signs and symbols. Than can come in many different forms including certain plants, body parts, liquid mana, certain metals, etc. An alchemist would take this regent and apply the appropriate extraction method. Each sign has a different method to harvest, but all can be extracted using the mundane method to get mundane symbols. What is extracted, like stated before, has 2 parts. You have your sign which consist of Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Aether, and mundane (sorta). Each regent's symbols has only one sign. All signs can be changed to mundane, but all of the symbols are now mundane. This means I cannot extract both Earth-Growth and Mundane-Swiftness from the same regent. After the alchemist has extracted his signs and symbols from his regent, they can use them to make potions. There are 2 main types of potions, common and uncommon. All alchemists have access to common potions and can make them as soon as they achieve or surpass a certain tier. Uncommon potions must be taught in order to make. Once learned, the alchemist may add the signs and symbols to the appropriate base in order to create the finished potion.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

There are many subsections These include common and uncommon potion additions which may need to be learned as they expand both the alchemists regent and potion library. These are fairly straightforward with them simply being additions to what the alchemist can do with potions. Most do not require an additional TA, but must be learned in roleplay, and the alchemist should keep a copy of the roleplay handy in case any issues arise

There is also things like Smogger Crafting. This requires an FA, and a separate TA to teach. If forces the alchemist to look at the regents as more than a concoction of disposable effects and think more about its usage in moving parts and channeling energy.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

Knox, in a panic, grabs a Will o' Bottle out of a small pouch looking around at the quickly forming group of bandits and mercenaries. [1/3]

Knox gives the bottle a quick but vigorous shake as he picks out a small group of three in the middle [2/3]

Knox throws the potion into the group silently praying that his throw was true [3/3]

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

Knox takes a small bottle filled with a smoky liquid as he walks past his student "Each potion has a different use, but most follow a certain process for usage" he starts to slow down before coming to a stop.

[Student] "I thought you were supposed to teach me how to actually make these things first. Not show me how to buy one off of you"

"Well..." Knox starts to slowly shake the bottle as he faces away from his student "Why do you think that it needs an order? Last I heard, you were the student, and I the teacher."

[Student] "I am the student wondering why I am being taught nothing other than how little you actually know."

Knox throws the bottle to the ground behind him aiming for the student's feet

[Student] "Are you crazy?!" He starts to back away from Knox's direction

"Smoke Whispers. One of the many potions you will make. So how do you do it?"

[Student] "How am I supposed to know?"

"Exactly. Each potion is made up of Signs and Symbols. Though very hard to see, they're in just about everything in some degree. Without them, none of this is possible. This particular one uses four different ones. Two count mundane dark and growth. One count mundane Endurance. Three counts Earth Blindness. When put together with a base of Distilled Water, they create this particular potion." Knox starts to emerge out of the smoke "Now let's get out of here before someone comes and has us clean this up. Follow me."

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

It really is a case by case thing. If the student were to do something like "I throw the bottle at his feet setting him and his surroundings ablaze", it may not have been intentional. Here I would take the student aside oocly and ask if they know what they did wrong. From there I would show them the exact issue and how to correct it. I would also ask the other player what happened so I know the full story to be sure that there are no other issues between them.

If it was a situation of "I throw two Will O' Bottles at him before following it with a third tanglefoot potion. I then grab some flowers and quickly slam them against a rock and throw them into a puddle creating a potion of Smoke Whispers", then I would have a very stern talking to with them and also be sure to talk to the other player. We would then have to decide if we should get staff involved.

  3. Leon began life like all do, except he was a little different. Instead of playing Guards and Criminals, or enacting wars with friends, he kept mostly to himself. Though one particular sorvian seemed to peak his interest. A creature by the name of “Glass” or so his newts would say. He would create all sorts of alchemical goods, selling them outside his shop. Though Leon never would end up learning the trade, he loved playing with the newts. As he grew older, he would form an opinion strongly against killing, or even hurting anyone, no matter what they did. This led to a few disputes with his father, but he persisted, and pursued a life of herbs and medical bags. Tending to the wounded seemed to be the best way he could contribute and still make his father proud, and one day he woke up to his coming-of-age trial… to kill a bear.

He had been thinking about it for a while and looked to his older brother, Hal, for advice, or maybe even an excuse. He didn’t want to kill things, but it didn’t seem he had much of a choice as he started tracking the poor beast. A few hours later, he was face-to-face with it, and in a clash of steel and claws, he came out victorious, though he wasn’t sure if he liked it. And came the silence. For several months, Leon refused to speak to anyone. He was ashamed. Ashamed of what he did, but like everything, it would fade with time, and he would learn that everything has a balance, which would once again, lead to his partial death...

-Death of Leon - Birth of Nepareizs-

Well, todays the final stand. Everyone is either working frivolously or nervously chatting, well, I’m writing, but that doesn’t exactly count. I’ve grown changed, a lot lately. First with the bear trial where I had to kill the poor thing. Now, we’ve abandoned Alisgrad and joined up with Valians and Hansani alike just to stay on Nyrheim. I just hope I can help people. How do I help people in this? We’re set outside the gate so I won’t have time. Unless I drag them, but I’ll figure something out.

“I had to kill the poor thing”

Leon sets down the period-appropriate-writing-utensil and tucked away the page as a Norland soldier approached him. As he looked up the soldier shoved a dull sword and small round shield at him. “I-I don’t fight. I’m the me-'' The gruff man looked down at Leon “You get one sword and one shield. Don’t die.” he would then walk off as Leon stood up looking for his medical bag. “Where on ear-” suddenly the sky darkened and a war horn sounded. No time. He rushed to Loys, a fellow Kitraven, and was told he would load the powder and pack the shot. Without time to stop and think, he just- did. No thought behind it as he went as fast as he could.

Leon is suddenly thrown back as his position is overrun by attackers. Some draw swords to fight in melee but most scramble to their feet trying to get to the walls. That’s where they would take their next position. In the panic, many would simply run without regard as to what or who they may trample…

    “No! Please!”

As people rush to get to the walls, Leon is pelted by armored boots and dropped weapons. He tries to shelter himself the best he can, but there was just too much. Several blows were dealt to his body and head. As the crowd lightened, he would drag himself up to the walls letting out a sigh before he there was a sudden, sharp pain in his neck and the world went dark

“I think he’ll make it, but only time will tell”

Leon wakes up in some new land. Around him nurses tend to other injured as he looks around, as he does so, one comes up to him “Quite the nap that was Mister… Leon” He would look at the lady puzzled “Wrong”. The nurse, visibly confused, would look at him “Wrong? Mister Leon I can ass-" "Nepareizs.” There is a moment of silence between the two before Nepareizs would stand up and head to leave “Sorry lass, but to stay is to pay, and I” he turns out his pockets “Have no money!” he would give an exaggerated bow before running out of the room leaving the occupants confused

    -Nepareizs-

After that, he was a very outgoing man. He loved fun, and a little mischief here and there. He would end up saving Norland from a Falorian pirate! With the new patch of land above the old mori encampment, of course there would be villains, so there would need to heroes to protect those who where weak! And thus became the Great Alliance! Members from all nations would come together to push the bandits into the desert where they belong! Many victories were won in the name of the Great Alliance, but once there were no more bandits to force out, the group dissolved, but there was still more to do! On his way to look for another quest, he followed a group of people into a town called Tennallar Talonnii.

For reasons unknown to Nel, they would explode in anger. Seeing this, he would try to leave, but was followed outside where he was tied up and accused of being part of Redclyf. He would try to tell them about Norland, but was instead bound and gagged. He was then exported to The Pit where some would offer to cut the ropes, as they knew him but Nel didn’t want to ruin their stuff. He wasn’t a pirate who stole and destroyed, he was a hero who gave and protected!

Thus he loosened the ropes the best he could and, using his feet to propel himself, took a boat back to them offering to return it, but was told they had no use for it, so he went to leave but was stopped and stabbed in the chest. If it were for Farian’s quick thinking, he would have died in that river, but thankfully, he was boated away, drug ashore, and bandaged.

“Why would they do this?” he thought. “I didn’t do anything to them, and yet they hate me…” Nel had never met such a group before, but he knew he didn’t like it, so he came up with a new quest: Make Tennallar Talonnii like me!

Rumil addresses a crowd telling them what happened to Nel

So he set off carefully sneaking into the Tennallar Talonii camp. He would go feed their animals, wash their horses, and overall clean up their camp. After he was done, he would quietly sneak out leaving notes on what he had done, so they wouldn’t be confused when they saw what happened, and of course so they might eventually come around to like Nel, but this hope was short lived. On his second round inside, he was jumped by 5 members, one of which pointed out that he had slept in someone’s bed, so they decided they should execute Nel. One started to chase him around the camp as he desperately tried to escape pleading that he would never come back, but suddenly he felt a sharp pain in his leg. He collapsed seeing one had thrown a dagger at him.
As he screamed out, he called his mother, Rumil, sat and watched. Most would have tried to intervene, but there was no way to help Nel without getting themself killed with him. One had to live to let others know the atrocity that had just been committed. As sad as it was, Nel would have to die, so that others would know who the Tennallar Talonii were, and what they had done. As he begged for his life, they would taunt him before cutting his tongue out, watching as Nel drowned in his own blood. They would laugh as though this were some sort of sick game they played, and all too long after the torture, Nel would succumb to his injuries finally finding a small bit of peace as he takes his place beside the All-Father. As they started to decide who got to keep which parts of the body, there was nothing I could do...

If you could fix one issue about the server and have everything be executed efficiently, what would you fix?

    Favorite book you've read?

What brought you to the server?
I was originally part of a server name Lanthyr. It was the first dedicated server I'd joined. During this time, I met several members (though I no longer remember their names), and played for a few months off-and-on. The server was very small and such had limited active hours, so during this time I looked around and found LOTC. This was several years ago, and I remember thinking about how this seems like a professional place where only experienced people play. I decided I would play on Lanthyr, working my way up to be "good enough" to join, and I had fun there, but the group was small, and after 2 merges and a rebrand, the server dissolved into nothingness, and I went my own direction. I played several games, and joined a few groups that eventually had social civil wars. I remember finding this server almost by accident one day as I looked at "Minecraft Roleplay Servers". When I loaded up the homepage, I immediately remembered what this place was, and thus, I joined and found my way through the server.

What's your favorite aspect about LotC?
I'm not sure I can pick out one particular thing, but overall it's the ability to meet so many people and their characters. The ability to write a story alongside friends. The openness of the community to new players was something I loved. Within the first week, I had been taught everything I would need to know and from there, I was meeting people from Aaun, Norland, The Vale, Urguan. Overall, my favorite part of LOTC is just the open and loving community.

If you could fix one issue about the server and have everything be executed efficiently, what would you fix?

The only problem I have had with LOTC is certain groups joining, not for the roleplay, but purely for banditing. Don't get me wrong, I love cool bandits where the roleplay is interesting. I don't want to point out what they do or who they are, but to the person who tried to stick an arrow in Knox's ribs, you are, by far, my favorite banditing experience. I know it may sound weird, but I genuinely enjoyed almost being robbed as he he did his thing, but to those who have copy paste emotes purely to fight and only take, but never give, I don't personally care for it, so it would be having bandits supply interesting emotes and be more than just someone who goes around robbing others.

    Favorite book you've read
With no other book coming quite as close, I love Maze Runner. The books are amazing. The Plot is perfect, and having the final book as the prequel explains every question the reader had is something no other series has done. I wish I could give myself an amnestic to forget what happens and read it again.

  9. I'm bored at the moment, so I thought this could be a fun thing to do. I am also applying for mod, so this may be a fun way to get a feel for who exactly I am if you haven't met me before.
A bit about me: I am working on getting my firefighter 1 + 2 and Hazmat certification, and have my EMR and BLS certification. I know a bit about coding and have ran a few Anti-Doxxing services in the past.

    So, without further ado, AMA!
