While they may wield absolute power over any decisions made within the Courts, oftentimes they may grant the Palatiodora authority to act as aid and assistant in leading the Courts. 6. 𑁍 ALEGRIA I UNITAT 𑁍 𑁍 JOY & UNITY 𑁍 ISSUED BY THE ⚜ AMFITIRO & ZELADOR⚜ IN THE YEAR OF 139 B.A. JOHN I WAS THE FIRST CROWNED KING OF BALIAN. He, with his loyal retinue of nobles and common folk alike, followed the star of Saint Lothar to establish their new home in the deserts of Almaris. THE LEGACY OF KING JOHN I persists with the newly coronated monarchs of Balian; His Majesty’s own name hailing from the first ruler, with his crown prince sharing the name to the saint, whose celestial apparition lead the progenitors of Balian onto the plateau that would become Atrus. WITH THE RETURN OF THE Novellens as the rightful sovereigns of the Kingdom of Balian, It has become apparent that much lies ahead for our nation's future, much remaining to be mended by our new KING and QUEEN. However, rather than idling on what lies ahead of us, we should welcome this new era with much enthusiasm. In many ways, we can consider this era as similar to the exodus, for we have departed from the docks of the regency, unto the waters that lie in wait to be conquered by our vessel. AS SUCH, LA CORT DE LA MAGRANA wishes to announce the Festival of Saint Lothar, representing our rise as a unified people. As we enter this new era, we vest our future, and land onto the hands of the LORD, just as our forebears did when crossing the sandy deserts of Almaris. We do not dawdle as denizens of Balian, but we keep our heads steadfast towards the skies and look upon what lies ahead of us with no fear. With the support of the court, Lady Estelle Galbraith, the keeper of the crown jewels, has undertaken the task of creating a directory to document each piece and preserve its unique history. ──────────────────────────‒༺۝༻‒────────────────────────── TABLE OF CONTENTS Section 1: Crowns Section 2: Tiaras Section 3: Diadems Section 4: Circlets Section 5: Necklaces ──────‒༺ ⚘ ༻‒────── I. CROWNS ────── THE BLACKWING ────── A round crown made of high-purity gold and studded with gems. The cardinal faces of the crown have square-cut rubies, and in between and above each ruby is a circular cabochon. The crown was worn by Mariya of Reza, Duchess of Adria. It was ornate, but not overly so. This gave it a more authoritative aura, instead of a traditional one of elegance. Though it still remains very beautiful. THE CROWN OF MONTEROSA ────── A crown of pure aurum, engraved with the skyline of the first Balianese capital of Atrus, created specifically for the investiture of the then Crown Princess Sibyl. It is passed down to every heir of the nation upon their own investitures and serves as a reminder of where Balian began. THE CROWN OF BALIAN ────── A crown of pure aurum, with various inlaid gems, from both the local Balianese deserts of Almaris and the Holy Orenian Empire. Made by the first Royal Smith of Balian, Count Drako Darkwood and his friend Vicereine Laurelie de Pelear, it was a coronation gift to King John I. SUNLIT CROWN OF BALIAN ────── This crown is made almost entirely of gold, depicting elements of the Royal Coat of Arms of Alexander I, with golden wings that shield a sunshard gem at the center of a kingdom. This crown speaks of new hope and a bright future. THE ADRIANIANE ────── Worn by King Adrian of Balian, the outer circlet of the Crown is made of six segments of beaten gold, partly enamelled, joined together by hinges. It is set with 12 gemstones, 6 rubies and 4 large amethysts that stand out. CROWN OF THE WILDFLOWER ────── A large crown shaped like leaves and flowers β€œspringing” out of the aurum metal in various directions like unkempt fields and valleys of plants growing freely. Amethysts of various sizes are decorated on the crown. A small lining of soft velvet is added on the bottom for comfort to the wearer. CORONA DELS NOUS INICIS ────── The coronation crown of Queen Sybille I, the first Queen Regnant of Balian. It is made with aurum mixed with bronze, giving it a less yellow hue than purer aurum. Four large turquoise gemstones are inlaid on each side of the piece, representing the directions of a compass– North, West, South and East. All of the coat of arms of the nobility of the kingdom were carefully carved onto the piece in small variants. THE PHOENIX OF PORTEREGNE ────── The crown of the late Prince-Consort Ezren of Tuvia. It used to not bear a name until his death of sacrificing himself up in flames to save his wife, Queen Sybille I. It is made of bronze with three amber gemstones decorating the front. THE CURSED CROWN OF PETRUS ────── A crown of pure aurum decorated with a large Balianese ruby at the front and many smaller ones around the entire piece. A long history of imperialistic symbolism of old and how many viewed that any who held the city of Petrus was the legitimate ruler of Oren and humanity as a whole. In the later years, after the Empire of Oren and the Kingdom of Oren both fell due to schisms from the empire and kinslaying from the kingdom, the crown gained a truly dark history. The true crown of Petrus was lost in history, and a replica in Balian was made that included a gorgeous purple velvet cap to modernise it. But after its presentation to King Alexander I he had a vision in broad daylight from what he believed was God. He thus ordered it to be locked away forever and to be forgotten. And a myth was created that if any royal of Balian was to ever wear this crown, the kingdom would crumble like the empires of old. ──────‒༺ ⚘ ༻‒────── II. TIARAS ────── THE IMPERATRIX TIARA ────── Crafted in the Pompourelia style and worn by Princess Amadea Ulyssa, this is made up of only clear diamonds and gold. Every available single possible space of this crown is occupied by diamond studs so its opulence is made manifest. With the number of branches made of gold and filled with diamonds, it weighs heavy on one’s head. But it is a burden worth bearing for its sheer magnificence. THE PROVENTIA TIARA ────── A delicate tiara made of high-grade silver with bright pearls to match. It starts with a band of silver at the back, and gradually curves upwards at the front like a church steeple, with pearls of increasing size being embedded along it, with a large central pearl in the top of the tiara. The tiara is accompanied by a necklace that looks identical to the tiara, when worn together they look like a mirror image of each other. This set was gifted to Princess Elizabeth Anne Novellen, the Princess Imperial of the Holy Orenian Empire as her debutante tiara by Empress Anne I and Emperor Joseph II. AURORA REGALIA ────── Also known as the Tiara of Rosemoor, A regal, delicately crafted tiara made from 14-carat gold, adorned with intricate leaf patterns symbolizing the jungles of Aevos, where Balian has been settled. Encircling the centerpiece is the emblem of the royal house Novellen; a dragon, wings outstretched, clutching a radiant ruby in its talons. Beneath the ruby, four teardrop-cut amethysts are nestled within the leaves. The ruby embodies the deep love and devotion of a princess royal to her kingdom and its people, while the amethysts reflect the willpower to protect Balian’s citizens and an undying passion for unity among nations. This tiara was designed specifically for Princess Ariadne Casimira as a replacement for the previous Tiara of Rosemoor that has since gone missing. THE PINNACLE TIARA ────── A large tiara of darkened aurum that was made for Queen Sybille I during the beginning of her reign as Queen Regnant of Balian. It has intricate carvings and detailing all over it of mountains of different heights. BEAUTY OF BA’AS ────── A small band of aurum, shaped like a tiara and decorated with rubies and sapphires. A face veil is worn with this piece, as is the tradition that comes from Ba’as of the royals there. CRIMSON WILLOW TIARA ────── The Crimson Willow features a minimalist design. Its slender frame, fashioned from delicate willow branches, curves gently to encase the wearer's head. Three vibrant rubies are nestled within the branches, their crimson hues adding a pop of colour to the otherwise pale gold-toned metal. A similar copy of the tiara was made, but with amethyst gems instead of rubies. THE BUTTERFLY ROSE ────── A gorgeous piece of aurum shaped with leaves and flowers, a golden butterfly in the middle of the crown that is adorned by a large piece of a marquise ruby gemstone. This tiara is one of many copies made, but each with a different gemstone. THE HONEYCOMB TIARA ────── An aurum circlet with honeycomb detailing and bee carvings all over the metal. With two bees β€œholding” the cornflower blue sapphire in place. A unique piece that belonged to the Princess Persephone Vilac nee Novellen. THE HUMMINGBIRD TIARA ────── A delicate tiara made of pure aurum, a carving of a hummingbird in the very middle and feathers flowing throughout the rest of the frames of the metalwork. No gemstones can be seen adorned on this piece due to its frail nature consisting of pure aurum, not wishing to risk any gemstones coming loose and chipping from a fall onto the ground. It is mostly reserved for important events to avoid dentings and bends of the tiara, belonging once to Princess Persephone Vilac nee Novellen. THE SHIMMERING RUBY ────── An elegant tiara made of aurum with a large red diamond in front, despite what the name may insinuate. The metalwork swirls upwards towards the gemstone in repeating patterns. It belonged first to Princess Persephone Vilac nee Novellen. ──────‒༺ ⚘ ༻‒────── III. DIADEMS ────── THE HERITAGE DIADEM ────── A gorgeous frame of pure, 24 carat aurum supports 8 gems of various colors. Gorgeously hand-carved into each jewel was the face of each monarch and consort to have ruled Balian. In the very middle, the face of Sybille I was chiseled out of a white diamond, with her husband Ezren of Tuvia to her right in a white quartz crystal. Adrian I was displayed in amethyst, Andromeda of Ba’as in amber. Alexander I in citrine, his consort Yelena of Marsana in an emerald. The founders of Balian, John I was shaped in a glistening ruby and his consort Gwenyth of Karosgrad within a gleaming opal. This diadem was originally crafted by Liridona Amador, who was known for her jewellery-crafting. It was gifted to Queen Sybille I for her coronation, as the Queen Regnant was a close friend of the creator’s niece. TIARA DE COMETA ────── The tiara of the once crown princess of Balian, Princess Johanna Casimira. It is made out of pure aurum and quite a delicate piece, decorated with blue diamonds said to have come from outer space with a comet onto Aevos. Regardless of this being true or not, they have an intense colour of blue and eye clean clarity. Causing the stones to sparkle brightly under any form of light. However, it is unknown whose position it currently lies in. CORONA BALTHALITA ────── A large bandeau of aurum with intricate carvings and detailing that gives it a sense of regality. A large amethyst of intense colour that was mined on Aevos is set in the middle with no other gems to support it. ──────‒༺ ⚘ ༻‒────── IV. CIRCLETS ────── BALIAN’S UNITY ────── Legend has it that the cobra has always been a symbol of power and royalty. On this golden circlet, enameled in bright colors reminiscent of the desert landscape, stands a figura of a King Cobra, transmuted so that its olive coloration appears as real as possible. The engraving of small round shields along the golden jewel, representing the strength and union of the people in Balian in defense of their land. Inside the circlet, one can read the following sentence: β€˜Fortis et Ferox’. CORONA MANDATUM ────── A symbol of command and glory, forged within the Kingdom of Balian to be worn by the Royal Family. A circlet of pure Aurum covered in ivory from which several points of the same precious golden material emerge. A few round-cut Amethyst gems can be found inlaid within the ivory to offer a nice-looking contrast to the eye. On the front of the circlet, lays a single Arkenlyte gem shining like a star plucked from the night sky whose light will never fade. THE GARNETITE CIRCLET ────── A circlet made for the Prince of Monterosa, Alexandros Casimir, in similar fashion to the crown made for his late father Ezren of Tuvia. The circlet is thinner and less detailed than the original and is decorated with three dark reddish-orange garnet gemstones instead. A PRINCE’S COMPANION ────── A lustrous circlet made of aurum, created from three separate measures of metal, which were folded and braided together to create a complete loop. The braid, not too dissimilar to a celtic knot, wove around the head of its wearer, and sat comfortably atop the ears. Simple in design, the circlet bore no gems or stones or intricate detailing. Its tightly woven plaits of polished aurum boasted the only statement needed: That its wearer and owner took great care of this piece, despite its mundane appearance. CIRCLET OF COSTA RUBINISSIMA ────── Also known as the circlet of Kings, it is made out of bronze that is decorated with pearls from the seas of Almaris and rubies, formerly sapphires. The crown itself has engravings of swirling patterns, akin to the sea. ──────‒༺ ⚘ ༻‒────── V. NECKLACES ────── THE STAG’S BEAUTY ────── A chain necklace made of a rose aurum metal, the chain itself being a Balianite style chain. It would be adjustable to fit on any person’s neck, however they should want it to. The chain, otherwise, would be a very basic Balianite style chain, beautiful to look at and rather intricate. The centrepiece of the necklace would be two rose aurum antlers, the tip of which would connect to the chain and at the bottom connecting to a rather large Sapphire. The Sapphire would be perfectly cut to reflect any light that may shine its way. 11. ──────‒༺ ⚘ ༻‒────── 𑁍 ALEGRIA I UNITAT 𑁍 𑁍 JOY & UNITY 𑁍 ISSUED BY THE ⚜ PALATIODORA ⚜ IN THE YEAR OF 128 B.A. IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS THAT THE COURTS OF BALIAN ANNOUNCE THE RETIREMENT OF OUR HEAD OF COURTS, LAVANYA NOVELLEN. However, we know that there is a silver lining to every hardship, and thus we thank Her Highness for her service to the Courta Cometa, and look forward to a new era of Balianese culture. AS WE ENTER THIS PERIOD, the Council of Monterosa has seen fit to lay to rest the Courta Cometa, which has served our great Kingdom through the reigns of SYBILLE I and LAVANYA OF CRESONIA. Instead, the council has opted to adopt the name of LA CORT DE LA MAGRANA, or The Pomegranate Court. It hopes to rejuvenate the culture and livelihood of Balian under the leadership of the Palatiodora, COUNTESS ESFIR D’ARKENT, who will act as the Head of Courts while Balian lacks a Queen. WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF THE BARONESS OF CASCANOVA, The Pomegranate Court has decided to further indulge the themes of prosperity and rejuvenation by issuing a new aesthetic to courtly missives, as well as traditions that are hoped to carry into further reigns. AVE Her Excellency, ESFIR ARTEMISIA D’ARKENT; Head of The Pomegranate Court. ──────────────────────────‒༺۝༻‒────────────────────────── I. COURTLY APPOINTMENTS. ──────‒༺ ⚘ ༻‒────── SEVERAL VACANCIES HAVE PLAGUED THE Courts of Balian for too long; most notably the absence of an Amifitiro and a Curador. Thus, Her Excellency has sought to fill these gaps, and officially appoints to the Council of Monterosa: THE AMIFITIRO ────── THE LADY AUGUSTA TEMESCH has, for a long time, been an active and welcoming presence in Balian. Even as a teenager she has assisted in hosting events within the County of San Adriano, and the Courts recognize her potential and believe her to be a strong fit for the Amifitiro. We wish her luck as she adjusts to her new role, and have high hopes for the new Head of the Office of Entertainment. THE CURADOR ────── SINCE HER YOUTH, THE BARONESS PALOMA GALBRAITH has demonstrated an incredible talent for writing, as well as a passion for the culture of the Balianese. After warding beneath the previous Curador, ESFIR D’ARKENT, we see fit to promote her to the role. We have strong faith in the Baroness and cannot wait to see how she enriches the culture of Balian. To be Balianese is to be part of our society, and to properly ensure that this culture is not lost under times of strife, the new Palatiodora and the Baroness of Cascanova have collaborated to form a cultural guide to Balianese etiquette and societal standards. It is the hope that as society progresses through this transition period, we uphold not only our values and community, but our very identity as Balianese. βœ§β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€βœ§ I β₯Ό GREETING THE PEERAGE OF BALIAN β₯½ Two noble ladies conversing on a stroll. IN ORDER TO PROPERLY And formally engage with the Courta Cometa and Balian Noble Society, one must first acknowledge and learn the proper language utilized- particularly addressment. By adequately addressing a peer of Balian, one is not just following a formality, but also demonstrating respect for the person’s House and Social Standing. These nuanced yet connotated addressments pave the way for a successful conversation or letter following one’s introduction.1 BALIAN’S ROYAL HOUSEHOLD OF Novellen is– of course– the most prestigious bloodline in the realm, and thus must be addressed with the utmost respect and formality. To address the Monarch or their Consort in public, they are to be titled as HIS or HER ROYAL MAJESTY. After this first addressment, should one be permitted, they may address the Monarch or Consort as HIS or HER MAJESTY. CHILDREN AND SIBLINGS OF the Monarch are titled Princes and Princesses of the realm. They are formally addressed as HIS or HER ROYAL HIGHNESS, but may be more simply addressed as HIS or HER HIGHNESS. Children of Princes and Princesses are not styled the same as their parents, however, but may be addressed as DON, meaning Lord, or DONNA, meaning Lady. The Current Royal Household of Novellen includes: HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, Alexander Casimir, Prince of Providence HER ROYAL HIGHNESS, Lavanya of Cresonia, Princess-Consort of Providence HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, John Casimir, Prince of Monterosa HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, Hadrian Constantine, Count of Pavino HER ROYAL HIGHNESS, Helena Casimira, Countess of Senna HER ROYAL HIGHNESS, Ariadne Casimira, Princess Royal of Balian HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, Alexios Michael, Count of Caluzzo HER ROYAL HIGHNESS, Ophelia Johanna HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, Elianos Hadrian THE SECOND-HIGHEST RANKING Households of the Kingdom, after the Crown, are those of Ducal Status. These families are of great prestige and honor. A Duke or Duchess of the realm is styled as HIS or HER GRACE, as is their consort. However, A Duke or Duchess may also be addressed as Duke/Duchess [Title] or Duke/Duchess [Last Name], or Lord/Lady in more informal settings. CHILDREN OF A DUKE or Duchess may be styled as DON or DONNA, or, more formally in writing or orientation, as His Lordship or Her Ladyship. Non-mainline children of a Ducal Household may also be styled as DON or DONNA, but in formality, they will only be addressed as Lord or Lady without additional flourish. The Current Ducal Households of Balian include Vuiller and Ruthern vas Balian, headed by: HIS GRACE, Marcel Vuiller, Duke of Aquiliae HER GRACE, Dame Viktoria vas Ruthern, Duchess of Reutov HIS GRACE, Ser Victor var Ruthern-Rorin, Duke-Consort of Reutov THE THIRD-HIGHEST OF class is those of Comital status. Formally, a Count or Countess and their consort are addressed as THE MOST HONORABLE, followed by their name. Additionally, they may be addressed as Count/Countess [Title] or Count/Countess [Last Name]. More informally, A Count or Countess may be referred to as Don/Sir or Donna/Lady. MAINLINE CHILDREN OF COMITAL Households may be referred to as DON or DONNA, or in formal writing as THE HONORABLE, followed by their name. More distant cousins are styled as Don/Donna in formal settings, but in informal environments, they may be referred to as Segnor/Segnora. The Current Comital Households of Balian include d’Arkent and Temesch et San Adriano, headed by: THE MOST HONORABLE, Achillius d’Arkent, Count of Salia THE MOST HONORABLE, Esfir Artemisia d’Arkent, Countess-Consort of Salia THE MOST HONORABLE, August Temesch et San Adriano, Count of San Adriano and Martiel HER ROYAL HIGHNESS, Ophelia Johanna, Countess of San Adriano and Martiel FOLLOWING AS THE FOURTH-HIGHEST in peerage hierarchy are those bestowed with Viscomital status. Ranked below Dukes/Duchesses and Counts/Countesses, peers of such standing should be formally addressed as Viscount or Viscountess, followed by their name. Meanwhile, their consort is to be addressed as THE RIGHT HONORABLE, subsequently followed by name. Like their Comital peers, Viscomitals may be addressed as Viscount/Viscountess [Title] or Viscount/Viscountess [Last Name]. Don/Sir or Donna/Lady also functions as an informal address. MAINLINE CHILDREN OF VISCOMITAL Houses follow a similar addressment style as their Comital counterparts, styling themselves as THE HONORABLE. Distant cousins are also referred to as Don/Donna formally or Segnor/Segnora informally, being given no extra additions to their signatures. The Current Viscomital Households of Balian include de Lyons, Vilac, and Novellen-Tuvia, headed by: THE RIGHT HONORABLE, Tristan de Lyons, Viscount of Enderoca THE RIGHT HONORABLE, Viviana Vilac, Viscountess of Valio HER ROYAL HIGHNESS, Ariadne Casimira, Viscountess of Tuvia THE RIGHT HONORABLE, Mattias Novellen-Tuvia, Viscount-Consort of Tuvia BARONIAL HOUSES STAND AS THE lowest in peerage ranking. Yet they, too, have their addressments of Baron or Baroness, followed by their given name. The Baron/Baroness and their consort will be acknowledged as THE HONORABLE, again followed by first or given name. Baronial house-heads can also be addressed as Baron or Baroness followed by their title or last name. Don/Sir or Donna/Lady remains a proper yet informal recognition of their standing. MAINLINE CHILDREN OF BARONIAL Houses utilize the Don/Donna styling formally, as well as the informal Segnor/Segnora; however, they have no other flourishing added to their signatures. Distant cousins of the Baron/Baroness may also utilize the informal Segnor/Segnora, but are given no other reference or flourish to their signatures due to their low standing in the peerage hierarchy. The Current Baronial Households of Balian include Galbraith and Vourkehardt, headed by: THE HONORABLE, Paloma Galbraith, Baroness of Cascanova THE HONORABLE, Baldric Vourkehardt, Baron of Cadiz THE HONORABLE, Valeska Vourkehardt, Baroness-Consort of Cadiz IN OUR ESTEEMED SOCIETY, we attribute extra titles to those serving the crown- mainly through the Crown’s hands within the Royal Duana and the Council of Monterosa. Such esteemed assistants to Their Majesties are to be referred to as HIS or HER EXCELLENCY. Notably, the role they serve will be denoted in their formal signature following any noble titles they hold. IN ADDITION, THOSE WHO have sworn oaths of Knighthood to the Crown are referred to as SIR or DAME. For Knights of common birth, this styling places them slightly above their peers but still below those of Baronial status. Children of Knights do not inherit the titles of Sir/Dame and will instead be styled as their usual honorific. The Current Royal Duana of Balian includes: HIS EXCELLENCY, Lord August Temesch, The Amiratus HIS or HER EXCELLENCY, The Legate HIS EXCELLENCY, Wernher Vourkehardt, The Domus Minstri HIS EXCELLENCY, Lord Alaric var Ruthern, The Magister HER EXCELLENCY, Dame Gwenyth Vilac Vuiller, The Constable HER EXCELLENCY, Colette de Lyons, The Procurator HER EXCELLENCY, Esfir Artemisia d’Arkent, Palatiodora of the Courta Cometa The Current Council of Monterosa2 includes: HER EXCELLENCY, Esfir Artemisia d’Arkent, Palatiodora of the Courta Cometa HER EXCELLENCY, Yelena of Aaun, The Zelador HIS or HER EXCELLENCY, The Amfitiro The Current Knight Orders of Balian3 include and are headed by Dame Viktoria vas Ruthern: THE ROYAL ORDER OF ST. WHILE PROPER LANGUAGE ADHEREANCE will administer an initial sign of respect, as will one’s physical demeanor and behavior. Knowing when to afford a bow or save a specific seat is critical to propriety in Balian’s Noble Society, among other mannerisms and actions. ONE SUCH MANNER TO be informed about is when to stand and sit. Notably, standing in the presence of the King or Queen– or any peer of higher status– is essential. Such standards can be witnessed at events such as the Court, where all attendees stand before their Royal Majesties. Thus, standing before those of a higher social status demonstrates respect and apt time to provide a formal hello and bow/curtsy should they be required. One should never sit before those of a higher status, especially at formal dinners or meetings. Should a higher peer not have a seat, one must offer theirs; however, if a lady of any standing is left on her feet, it is proper to provide her one’s seat as well. AS MENTIONED PRIOR, STANDING before a higher-ranking peer provides the opportune time to formally greet the Lord and/or Lady you are in the company of. A bow or curtsy should always be afforded to those above one’s station upon first meeting, accompanied by a verbal acknowledgment of said station (Recall the prior section on proper addressments). The more significant the difference in rank between one and one’s company, the deeper one’s bow or curtsy should be. Notably, a bow or curtsy towards those of equal status is traditional; however, many accept a simple bow of the head in such a scenario. Be sure to utilize proper addressments still. ✧β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½βœ§ III β₯Ό MANAGING YOUR WARDROBE FOR POLITE SOCIETY β₯½ A Balianese woman showing off her outfit. FASHION IS, OF COURSE, one of the most excellent ways to express oneself. One can tell a lot from the way another dresses, such as their field of work, social class, and even their familial background. Thus, it is always necessary to dress appropriately for any occasion to hold yourself with pride while avoiding offense to others. The cultural everyday wear of Balian is vast and has been reported on more in depth by previous missives issued by the Courta1. THE MOST REGAL OF accessories are those donned upon the head, most frequently crowns, tiaras, and circlets. Crowns in particular are reserved only for the reigning King of Balian, whereas tiaras and circlets may be donned by Royal Consorts, Princes, and Princesses. However, on special occasions such as debuts, presentations, and weddings, mainline members of the upper nobility (Ducal and Comital Houses) may wear heirloom tiaras or circlets that have been passed down through the family. JEWELRY THAT IS NOT regal headwear is appropriate to wear by all classes; accessories such as necklaces, bracelets, and rings. It should be noted, though, that those of lower status typically don jewelry of more simplicity, lest they appear frivolous or presumptive. VEILS MAY ALSO BE commonly seen worn by ladies of Canonist faith to demonstrate her piety. But, with the Balianese heat, women are cautioned to be wary not to become hyperthermic by wearing veils of thinner fabrics. Sashes are also notably popular amongst peers and their consorts and are commonly worn by mainline nobility at formal events to display one’s House colors. THE COLORS ONE CHOOSES to adorn oneself with offers a glimpse into one's life, even if one may not realize it at first. It can reveal a lot about one’s status due to the cost of certain dyes and fabric materials, as well as their personalities and ambitions. RED: Red symbolizes love and fidelity and is typically associated with passion, though it is not uncommon for it to also represent regeneration or change. ORANGE: Orange, due to the cost of its dye, is commonly associated with luxury and comfort. However, because it is also a hue with much vitality, it can also represent happiness and contentment with one’s life. YELLOW: Similar to red due to its association with fire and the sun, yellow symbolizes life, regeneration, and vitality. GREEN: Shades of green are often symbolic of fertility and bountiful harvests, as it is the same color as much of nature’s fields and trees and the coming of spring. However, deeper hues of emerald can represent wealth and high status. BLUE: Blue, the same color as the grand and vast ocean, represents freedom. Bolder shades may also be associated with confidence though, as well as wisdom and scholarly ambitions. PURPLE: Because it is the color of the Royal House of Novellen, paired with its high cost, purple is representative of royalty and noble virtues. When paired with gold, it can also signify patriotism with the Kingdom of Balian. PINK: As a softer and more demure shade, pink represents comfort and warmth. It is typically worn by children or young women. WHITE: As a shade representing purity and dedication to God, white is typically worn by children or unmarried women. Additionally, it is most traditionally reserved for a bride to wear for her wedding. While it is not common for a married person to wear all white, accessories and accents of that color are always appropriate. BLACK: Contrary to white, black is solemn and is worn frequently when in mourning or times of grief. It does hold additional, not-so-somber meanings in the church, though, since many members of the clergy don black, granting it association with protection from harm and evil. BROWN: Because of its affordability, brown is worn frequently by commoner classes. But, when worn by nobility, it can create a sense of humility and one-ness with the less fortunate. Additionally, if wearing a neutral-shaded animal pelt, it can grant its wearer associations of courage. 1] Destimentum Balianum: Fashion of The Balianese 2] Regalia Regulations 3] Balianese Metal Language ✧β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½βœ§ IV β₯Ό MINDFUL, YET LOVING DEMEANOR FOR COURTING β₯½ A Balianese couple displaying proper courtship etiquette. TO FALL IN LOVE is a beautiful thing, and to be able to express such is even more so. However, under the watchful eye of God, as well as one’s peers, it must be considered to be respectful of one’s significant other, and to display proper affection in a Canonist way. THE COURTSHIP PROCESS BEGINS when two people agree to begin an official relationship, with the hopes of being married someday. It is encouraged that both families of the couple agree to this to avoid any awkwardness between Houses or undue stress between the couple. Additionally, an unwed couple is expected to be chaperoned in public to avoid any brash scandals, and it is of course polite for the man to ask permission from the woman’s family before asking for her dance at a ball or other event. ENGAGEMENT IS THE NEXT step in any relationship, where the courting couple promises themselves to marry each other. Public displays of affection, such as hand-holding are permitted in public, but the couple is still encouraged to be joined by a chaperone. TO FORMALIZE A BETROTHAL, the man is again expected to speak to his to-be bride’s family. If her parents and Head of House agree to a marriage, further discussions may take place to negotiate a bride price and/or dowry. TO BE MARRIED IS undoubtedly one of the happiest days of the couple’s life. A Balianese wedding ceremony is filled with traditions1, beginning with the procession. Contrary to many cultures where the bride’s family accompanies her down the aisle, the bride and groom walk down the altar together to display their unity. Once there, the officiant will don their heads with a wreath or crown, and the ceremony will commence. Before the final vows, however, the couple will each take a drink from a cup of wine to symbolize both the blood of the Balianese, as well as the journey the two will embark on together in their married lives. 1] Balian Marriage Customs ✧β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½βœ§ V β₯Ό APPRECIATION FOR ONE’S COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT β₯½ A Balianese woman receiving an invitation to an event. TO BE INVITED INTO one’s home for an event is a great extension of hospitality. So, of course, it should only be right for one to show grace to their host or hostess whilst also enjoying themselves at the event. At any gathering, one should waste no time in greeting the host and should also consider bringing a gift or token of some kind to thank the one who has opened their home to the guest. AT FORMAL DINNERS AND feasts, one should always be mindful to be polite and wait for the host to first be seated. After a prayer has been said to bless the meal, and the host takes their first bite, the rest of the guests are welcome to dig in. If a toast is proposed, it is courteous to the gathering to keep the speech short. Additionally, the person who was honored with the toast should not drink until their eyes have turned off of them, lest they appear arrogant. WHEN ATTENDING A BALL or any other sort of dances, men and women alike are expected to be respectful and behave in a Canonist manner. This means that unmarried couples should keep a modest distance between them. Furthermore, as stated above in the section on Courting Etiquette, a man should ask a lady’s family before asking herself for a dance and should be mindful not to ask a woman for her first dance unless he intends on courting her. ETIQUETTE AT OTHER EVENTS may be more versatile depending on its theme, but the general rule of thumb should be to respect one’s host and fellow guests and follow any rules or dress code asked of the invitees. It is expected that every member of the Courta Cometa shall exhibit proactive engagement in their respective roles and responsibilities. Anticipate the needs of the court, anticipate the desires of the Crown, and take initiative to fulfil these obligations in a manner that enhances the Court's overall functionality and prestige. Those who fail will be removed and superseded. III. In the latest organisational overhaul, our establishment is undergoing a transformation into four distinct departments and two divisions to meet the demands of this new cultural mission. ✧ The Office of the Household will uphold the spirit of servitude, diligently attending to the needs and requirements of our esteemed patrons. This Office belongs to the Division of Servantry. ✧ The Office of Entertainment will focus on events, celebrating joy and revelry, ensuring that merriment and mirth are always in abundance. This Office belongs to the Division of Enlightenment. ✧ The Office of Cultivation, devoted to safeguarding the Balianite culture, fostering intellectual pursuits, and relentlessly pursuing knowledge, all with the overarching goal of enriching the kingdom and nurturing the limitless potential of the human mind. This Office belongs to the Division of Servantry. As part of this restructuring, redundant positions will be phased out, making room for more relevant roles that align with the vision and goals of each division. This reconfiguration promises to bring about greater efficiency, productivity, and a harmonious balance throughout our court. V. Efficient and effective communication is an imperative expectation. Courtiers must employ clarity, transparency, and timeliness when conveying information, instructions, or reports to superiors and colleagues. This promotes synergy and ensures that the Court operates as a unified entity. VI. Synergy, the harmonious cooperation of all Court members, is of paramount importance. Expectation dictates that individuals shall work cohesively, transcending personal ambitions for the greater good of the Courta Cometa. Collaboration fosters an environment of excellence and ensures that the Court's collective endeavours surpass individual aspirations. VII. Every member of the Courta Cometa is expected to embody the highest standards of conduct and etiquette, both within the Court and beyond its hallowed halls. Uphold the reputation of the Court by exhibiting grace, decorum, and propriety in all interactions, demonstrating to the realm the pinnacle of sophistication and refinement. ✧β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½βœ§ TO PROVIDE FURTHER ELABORATION, the duties of all positions within the court will also be outlined as follows: I β₯Ό VACANT β₯½ Head to all the courts. The Head of Court serves as the supreme authority to whom all members of the court are obligated to defer. The Consort wields direct dominion over the configuration, culture, operations, and established customs of their court, holding the prerogative to appoint individuals at their discretion. In accordance with their respective positions, the reigning Head shall exercise a more immediate authority than the Palatiodora. However, in instances where the Head’s presence is absent, the Palatiodora shall assume the responsibility of wielding this authority on her behalf. The current Head of Court is vacant. In light of these weighty responsibilities, it is imperative that this individual not only possesses a comprehensive mastery of court protocol but also exhibits an exceptional and commanding capacity for leadership, as they shall wield the utmost authority within the Council. At the commencement of a new epoch for the Council of Monterosa, a transformative mandate has been initiated. Beyond the traditional scope of providing counsel, council members are now enjoined to assume an active and substantive role in the efficient administration of diverse court departments. The prevailing expectation is that each council member shall manifest consummate mastery within their respective domains, thereby ensuring that their proficiencies and guidance concretely yield discernible outcomes. Through this paradigmatic reconfiguration, the council's function evolves into one of active leadership, nurturing a unified and meticulously structured governance. By seamlessly amalgamating their vast reservoirs of knowledge and experiential acumen into the management of various departments, the council shall play an indispensable role in cultivating efficacy, fostering synergy, and propelling progress throughout the realm. This progressive modus operandi embodies an unwavering commitment to attaining hitherto unparalleled echelons of excellence in every facet of the court's operational purview. The present era marks a profound departure from the longstanding tradition of reserving this esteemed position exclusively for consorts of the highest pedigree. Instead, it heralds a new paradigm wherein merit serves as the paramount criterion for the appointment to this illustrious role. Henceforth, candidates aspiring to assume this pivotal position must not only possess an impeccable understanding of courtly protocols but must also demonstrate a profound awareness of the intricate needs and aspirations of the Balian populace. A Royal Councillor is now tasked with maintaining a vigilant awareness of the realm's dynamic pulse, comprehending the nuanced challenges faced by both courtiers and commoners alike. By promoting individuals distinguished by their competence, sagacity, and empathy, the court endeavours to cultivate a governance that is both responsive and compassionate, meticulously tailored to address the genuine exigencies of the realm. This transformative approach holds the promise of endowing the court with a more cohesive and effective operational framework, thereby earning the respect and admiration of all its constituents. In congruence with the preceding prerequisites and responsibilities of the Councilors of Monterosa, a limited cadre of Royal Advisors shall be duly appointed to the council. Their primary mandate shall be to proffer counsel to the Consorts and the Palatiodora with a point of view outside the courts, whenever it is deemed necessary. These esteemed advisors shall be mandated to attend the Council's deliberations, yet it is to be explicitly understood that they shall exercise no executive authority therein. β₯Ό HE, Yelena Virosiβ₯½ @silllkee Head to Division of Servantry, head to the Office of the Household. The Zelador assumes a paramount role in preserving the household's unity and operational efficiency. Their responsibilities encompass the supervision of the household staff, including the handmaids, management of the court's finances, and judicious allocation of palace accommodations, thereby upholding a position of elevated significance within the court's personnel hierarchy. Additionally, the Zelador exercises authority over the Office of Entertainment, guaranteeing that the Amfitiro is endowed with requisite resources and steadfast support. It is with a bittersweet sentiment that I announce my departure from the esteemed court and beloved kingdom of Balian. The decision to step away from the role of Palatiodora has not been an easy one, but I believe it is a necessary step for both myself and the realm. When I first joined the court, I embarked on a mission to rework and rejuvenate it, aspiring to create an environment that could cultivate and inspire the wonderful people of Balian. The journey has been arduous yet profoundly fulfilling. I am proud to say that together, we have transformed a court that was in disarray into a bastion of unity, excellence, and magnificence. Each step we took, each challenge we faced, was a testament to the strength and resilience of the Balianese spirit. Now, as I bid farewell to the court, I do so with a heavy heart but also with the knowledge that the seeds we planted together will continue to flourish. The time has come for me to return to my tower in Haense and resume my role as the Court Astronomer. The stars have always been my guiding companions, and it is under their watchful gaze that I shall continue my work, ever dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and understanding. My love for the people of Balian runs deep, and the warmth and kindness you have shown me will forever be etched in my heart. Your welcoming spirit, your resilience, and your commitment to the well-being of this kingdom have been a constant source of inspiration. I am grateful to have been embraced by the Balianese as one of your own. Though I may no longer serve in the court, my connection to Balian remains unbroken. The tapestry of memories we've woven together will endure, and I carry the lessons learned and the bonds forged with me on my journey. 19. ☼ Coming of agE ☼ ☼ An insight on Balianese adulthood traditionS ☼ ISSUED BY THE ☼ Palatio Curadora ☼ ON THE 10th OF GODFREY'S TRIUMPH, 81 B.A. In every culture, regardless of ethnicity or background, the transition from childhood to adulthood is an immensely significant and pivotal phase in a person's life. The Balianese people are no exception to this universal truth, and they place great importance on this transformation. To honor and mark this profound passage, the Balianese have developed a rich tapestry of time-honored traditions and rituals. Incorporating a blend of cultural influences, such as those from royal and noble families, the Rhenyari, and Old Balthalite traditions, Balianese culture places significant emphasis on rites of passage. The celebration of key events, the exchange of meaningful gifts, and the Votive Sashes are all integral elements that vividly illustrate the richness of this culture. These traditions serve to commemorate an individual's growth during their youth and anticipate the promising future that awaits them as they step into adulthood. βœ§β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€βœ§ I β₯Ό The Festival of AdulthooD β₯½ ~Youths Preparing a Festa de l’Edat Adulta~ Every eighth year, the sixteen to twenty four year olds will gather together and plan together the Festa de l’Edat Adulta, a festival that is meant to celebrate their joint transitions into adulthood. Held only once every eighth, representative of the eight years Saint Malcolm spent to become ordained as a priest. Three events will be held over three months, one to signify the unity of the nation, one to raise mina for the state as a show of loyalty and another to display the vibrancy of youth. There shall be no intervention in the planning of these events and it is purely up to the decision of the group what shall happen and when. During the events, each member of the β€˜Consell de Festa’ is required to wear a sash with the colours of their familial house upon it be it noble or common. This sash makes it clear to those participating in the celebrations who are part of the Consell de Festa. Given a year to prepare the festivities, the Consell de Festa is given the full support of the Crown to ensure their experience of this once in a lifetime festival is enjoyed by themselves over any others. ✧β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½βœ§ II β₯Ό The Gift of Protection β₯½ ~A Young Noble Woman receiving her Regal de ProtecciΓ³~ A disappointing staple of life as an adult is that combat and danger is never too far from oneself at all times. While the existence of the nation's guards lessens such a threat, it is a certainty that you will have to face an enemy at some point. With this matter in mind the Balianese hold the tradition of Regal de ProtecciΓ³ very close to their hearts. Both an appreciation of one’s adulthood as well as a sign of care from one’s family, this tradition was born from scripts of the Old Balthalite Empire describing the gifting of a paramerion to the adult boys of the culture. Once an individual reaches their eighteenth year of life, they will be gifted their Regal de ProtecciΓ³, which is a dagger, made specifically for the individual in question. Often made to represent aspects of both the new adult’s personality and family, the dagger has no set design by any means. Commoners opt for designs with minimal decoration and a far more practical design, whereas the nobility of Balian choose to have a more decorative and exquisite blade for their child, sometimes less functional. ✧β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½βœ§ III β₯Ό Tapestries of LifE β₯½ ~Saint Lothar and his wife exchanging Votive Sashes~ A tradition dating back to the seventh of the Lothar Tablets series, which offers a unique glimpse into the culture and customs of the Old Balthalite people, Votive Sashes hold a significant role in documenting an individual's personal growth and evolving experiences throughout their lifetime. This practice was deeply woven into the lives of the Ancient Balthalite Empire's people, where families would bestow a votive sash upon their young members, often designed in their familial house colors. These sashes are typically embellished with small designs over time, reflecting the wearer's experiences and evolving personality. Such sashes are proudly worn during the Festa de l'Edat Adulta and may also be worn during a person's debut in the social season, if desired. Lastly, it is customary for a bride and groom to exchange their votive sashes on their wedding day, symbolizing their commitment to share their lives with one another. βœ§β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€βœ§ Her Royal Majesty, ANDROMEDA ESTER OF BA’AS, Queen-consort of Balian, Countess-consort of Monteres, Viscountess-consort of Pompourelia, Eflen and Anatis, Baroness-consort of Brucca, Valens, Malenos, Goza and Ciavola, Lady of Portoregne, Atrus and Monterosa, Warden of La Costa Rubinissima, Protector of the Heartlanders and the South, etcetera Her Highness, MISCHA OF FLORENTINE, Princess of Haense, Duchess of Greywyn, Countess of Florentine, Palatiodora of the Palatio Arancione Her Royal Highness, SIBYL GWYNETH, Princess of Balian, Countess of Senna, Curador of the Palatio Arancione

Apart from the traditional manners of imposing kindness and respect to those around them, the etiquette of Symposia Pragma chooses to push the envelope with an encompassing theme of PROSPERITY, specifically the colors which represent it. I β₯Ό ETIQUETTE β₯½ A poised maiden of the last Symposia Pragma. The language and symbolism behind color is tricky as many colors stand for multiple houses or symbolisms depending on the culture or geographical location. This being said, the Court have researched several colors that are meant to stand out and represent prosperity, these colors being RED, PURPLE, GREEN, BLACK and BLUE. Throughout the Symposia Pragma, specifically during the presentation of the debutantes, participants are highly encouraged to use these five colors in their clothing as their own representation and interpretation of PROSPERITY. A major importance of the Symporia Pragma is understanding one’s surroundings and the respect that is due to those around them, specifically in regards to titles and the addressment of Lord’s and Lady’s who have earned their positions in society. To ignore one’s official honorific is to spurn them and their position in Balianese society so a simple guide of addressment is provided below. Should someone be unsure of one’s official title or honorific, it takes but a simple request of introduction to clarify any confusion: REGNE/REGNA - KING / QUEEN DUQUE / DUQUESA - DUKE / DUCHESS MARQUES / MMARQUESA - MARQUESS / MARCHIONESS CONDE / CONDES - COUNT / COUNTESS VISCONDE / VISCONDESA - VISCOUNT / VISCOUNTESS BARON / BARONESA - BARON / BARONESS DON / DONA - LORD / LADY CAVALIER - KNIGHT. This same list will be a guide to the renowned Symposia Pragma Promenade of presentations, held on the first day of the season for all to bear witness. All participants are encouraged to display their self expression in various ways, specifically through the colors of PROSPERITY, all while displaying the proper etiquette which is required for all those to maintain a proper air and to fend off any instances of insult which may occur should one not be mindful of their mannerisms. The Symposia Pragma Promenade, famously held as the opening ceremony of the season, is where all men and women will present themselves before the King and Queen of Balian or a member of the Royal Family should neither be present. As stated previously, this event is meant to act as a promenade where participants are encouraged to flaunt the grandeur or simplicity of their personalities to their fullest extent. The colors of PROSPERITY is the only guideline meant to be followed, save for the rule of wearing a tiara only when appropriate (one being an heirloom or the wearer being of Royal standing). Lined up in order of social class, debutantes and suitors will promenade through the Palatio Arancione hall to make their presence known and to act as a ceremony for coming of age into adulthood. This abundance of vibrant hues has fueled the creation of numerous distinctive styles, drawing inspiration from both ancient history and their modern surroundings. ✧β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½βœ§ [Skin by Melpomenne] Originally hailing from the blossoming Mihyaari city of Chaldees, the Mihyaari influence and the prominence of Ur-Zainab, a political figure in the southern region of Almaris, served as the inspiration behind the creation of the gown. This gown, transcending class boundaries, has become a favourite among commoners, nobility, and royals alike for its blend of fashion and practicality. Drawing parallels with the jackets of Northern Nations like the Dual Kingdom of Haenseti-Ruska, The Pirahan has been perfected to combat the unpredictable weather of the Kingdom of Balian. However, owing to the heat of the Southern Tropics, it incorporates lighter and thinner fabrics compared to its Northern counterparts, ensuring wearers remain unaffected by heat-related illnesses. The gown consists of an airy linen dress with a belt around the waist, providing a structured look. Embroidery is often employed to enhance the simplicity of the design, with a note that such embellishments should be restricted to the underdress or jacket to avoid being considered gaudy or an insult to the crown. Classless in its inherent design, The Pirahan gains distinction through the application of various hues to its fabrics. The royalty and nobility opt for expensive and rare dyes, imparting vibrant and bold colours reflective of their high status. Those with more modest means may choose creams or simpler dyes for their undergown and jacket. In adherence to etiquette, the bolder the hues, the more formal the gown is perceived to be. Hence, only the most exquisite variations are reserved for events like balls, Symposia Pragma, or engagements with royalty. ✧β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½βœ§ [Skin by Marsllol] The Augustan is seen as a natural successor to the robe-like Atrusian gowns of Almaris, which were best suited to the arid, sandy conditions of the founding lands of the Kingdom. Named for the former Governess of the Palace, Princess Augustina Therosia, the gown is almost identical to its Atrusian predecessor, save for minor adjustments to combat the difference in weather patterns that Aevosian Balian experiences. A gown quite dissimilar to the others seen within Portoregne due to its lack of widespread popularity, it is considered to only be kept in style due to the favour of Palatiodora Lady Serena d’Arkent’s favour for it and later on the favour of Princess Sibyl Gwyneth. Identifiable through its characteristic simple silhouette with long stretches of fabric held in place by various knots, pins and similar forms of attachment. The dress portion of the outfit crumples at the hem, nearing the floor, due to its excess use of cloth and fabric, often causing it to drag behind the wearer when they walk. To shape the dress from its otherwise purely simplistic nature, shawls, sashes and other layerings are implemented, giving it a more grand shape upon wearing it. Patterning through embroidery plays a significant role in giving the dress more character and life, often taking the form of hatch or floral patterns on the underskirts alone. The true potential of this dress is only fully realised once the owner understands it’s full versatility and near endless options for styling it. Easy to style both up and down, the dress is comfortable for travelling and its use within both formal and informal settings in an elegant manner. ✧β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½βœ§ [Skin by Ncarrr] A fashion that befits utility above all else, the Darian is believed to have been developed in the lands of Ba’as, seemingly gaining popularity after the Queen Andromeda Ester’s year long stay with her mother in the distant Kingdom. If rumours are to be believed then the Queen distributed pamphlets to her trusted counsell, who were enamoured by the beauty and sought to pursue such outfits. Often stylised as a clothing for both informal and travel wear, the modesty and mobility makes it fitting for a woman of high stature who is on a trip. The immediate and most obvious feature of this style is the replacement of the typical Balianese long skirts for a pair of elongated trousers, often considered oversized. These trousers vary between lady to lady, changing with the aspects of their standing in society, accompanying pieces and the chosen manner of expression that they wish to pursue. The trousers would be worn with the duo of a vest and a chemise providing both ample coverage and support for the upper portion of the body. Just as with the trousers, the vests employed by the ladies may vary in many ways, the design can change from simple colours to elaborate patterns with jewels stitched into the fabric. In the summer and later spring months, a woman may prefer a vest with shorter sleeves, if not sleeveless and a chemise fashioned with a lightweight fabric whereas in the winter months, a woman will choose a vest with longer sleeves and a chemise of a more durable and thicker fabric to combat the cold. It must be made a note of, that a woman should always maintain a close eye on how much embroidery and patterning she uses to decorate her outfit, as using an extensive amount is considered to be distasteful. ✧β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½βœ§ [Skin by HIGH_TRANS & comatoseprincess] A style that is most definitely a newer one to the lands of Balian, the Sibylline Gown is an old Balthalite dress that has become the favoured of Princess Sybil Gwyneth who originally wanted such a dress to show off her extensive jewellery collection. While at first though it may come across as being named after the young Princess, it is actually named for its first known wearer, Empress Sybille of the Balthalite Empire, the Princess’s namesake. A dress that exudes a sense of elegance and simplicity, the Sibylline is one best suited to the hot weathers of the southern regions. The ensemble commences with an unconventional yet elegant lightweight dress known as a chiton, a simple and sleeveless garment that gracefully catches just above the ground. To elevate this otherwise understated style, a splendid silk shawl takes centre stage. Draped around the shoulders and secured with a decorative clasp, it cascades down the arms and envelopes the wearer's back. To introduce structure and definition to the attire, a substantial belt is cinched at the waist, accentuating both the outfit and the wearer herself. Finally, a delicate silk loincloth is positioned beneath the belt, adding the finishing touch that further enriches the ensemble's overall depth and sophistication. The colour of the chiton portion of the dress is most commonly a white or cream colour, an often understated and relaxed colour for the owner to wear, however it’s true beauty comes to pass with the additions made to it. The shawl is often dyed a rich hue, sometimes a red, blue or in some cases for royalty, a dark purple colour, allowing the silken fabric to radiate a sense of wealth and grace. The belt and loincloth that accentuate the chiton itself, are often embellished with various decorations with the belt featuring metal and jewel accessories and the loincloth having a dignified pattern to it. βœ§β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€βœ§ II β₯Ό ROBA D’HOME β₯½ Using the same fabrics and colours as their counterparts, the men of Balian have diverged from the previously prevalent practice of wearing snug and warm attire, which was typical among the heartlanders. Instead, they often opt for lighter materials and don brightly coloured robes. This distinctive choice in clothing sets the Balianese men apart from the rest of Aevos, aligning their attire with the tropical climate of Portoregne and its higher temperatures. ✧β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½βœ§ [Skin by Marsllol] Considered the male counterpart of The Pirahan, despite the Fustanella being developed into the Balian fashion a few years prior to The Pirahan. The outfit protects from the harsh salted weather peppering someone’s skin while also ensuring the outfit is airy enough to prevail comfortably within heat of the southern tropics. Originally being given as a gift to Lord Peter d’Arkent by Sarson Halgrim, emissary to the King of Ba’as however he misused it and created the offshoot accessory, the fusta. As the Rhenyari influence grew later on, more people within the nobility of Balian began to implement it in their outfits more often. A staple among the higher echelons of Balianese society, including high nobility and royalty, the Fustanella has one major aspect of it is the skirting for which the outfit is named after. Worn at the waist, the Fustanella is no different to the skirts of other cultures nor that of the other opposite gender, though it varies in length, anywhere between the knee and the ground. Compliment further by a vest with either long or short sleeves made of a lightweight linen fabric to ensure it does not cause any overheating for the wearer. Further accentuating the outfit would be a belt, comfortably sat upon the waist and contouring the outfit against the body in a simple yet strong manner. Finally, trousers may be worn under the Fustanella, however this is not compulsory should the skirting reach the feet or ground. Patterning on this outfit is not uncommon, however it is usually done upon the bottom of the skirting and the end of sleeves. Often a more basic patterning for those of a common background and a more complex and intricate pattern is preferred for people of a noble or royal heritage. Often using lighter colours, the wealthy will choose more vibrant dyes compared to the creams and sometimes dark greens of the less fortunate. ✧β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½βœ§ [Skin by beeee] A set of robes for males, the Alexandrine takes its name from King Alexander I β€˜The Just’ who is believed by scholars to have favoured the robes due to his fascination with the ancient Balianese culture, in particular Saint Lothar. A fashion mostly attributed to the desert conditions of Atrus in Almaris, it was mostly commonly worn by King Alexander I, Ledicort Vuiller and Rev Vuiller who preferred the outfit in order to exude a sense of strength and grace while conducting their diplomatic and political efforts. Composed primarily of three robes layered over one another, the Alexandrine uses extremely thin layers of fabric to create an airy robe that protects against any harsh substances in the air, such as the desert sand or the salt of the sea. The first layer is a simple garment of linen, often white due to its propensity to be unseen once the rest of the garment is put on. This layer is for both modesty and comfort as it protects from the elements while being lightweight enough to keep cool. The other two layers are far more beautifully designed, incorporating various different manners of embellishing be it through embroidery, dying or the addition of other such patterning to it. The final layer is often made of silk, a sign that it is an outfit for the wealthy who wish to show themselves off and their status in society. The robes are held in place with a belt, detailed and large or slim and simplistic, depending on the preference of the man. The Alexandrine is an outfit that above all else is a piece for the higher echelons of society, an outfit that radiates a sense of stature and importance. It is considered inappropriate attire for any manual labour and is instead used by people who are in formal and more relaxed settings away from any form of work. Often associated with wealth, prophecy and the arcane, a long cape may sometimes be added to the outfit with various motifs of the arcane. ✧β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½βœ§ [Skin by teeylin] Named for the Saint that the Balianese have chosen as their own, Saint Lothar of Balian, the Lotharian is a simplistic and easily accessible outfit for all men who wish for a new outfit. Considered a far more casual and everyday outfit, it is used while working or in informal settings, and the lightweight nature of it allows for easy movement while in the often blistering heat of the southern tropics. The Lotharian uses oversized and baggy clothing, beginning with a shirt. Such a shirt is made from diaphanous materials with long sleeves that do not collect around the wrist, merely acting as a tunnel for the rare breezes to cool down the body while the man remains modest as does the long v neck of the shirt. The outfit is uplifted by the choice addition of waistcoat to create some more depth to it, often using a few different dyes and patterns should such be wanted. Similarly to the shirt of the outfit, the trousers would be very baggy, giving a lot of air between the skin and linen fabric, held up by a belt that seems more akin to a scarf in it’s design which is often used to hold weapons to one’s body. An often plain and uninspiring outfit for the working man, the Lotharian may be styled up and down should one wish to do such. Adding patterns to the vest and belt and employing various expensive dyes to the fabric, one can go from a simple commoner working a manual job to an impressive statesman. βœ§β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€βœ§ III β₯Ό ROBA INFANTILβ₯½ As vibrant and lively as their parents, the children of Balian have developed their unique fashion sensibilities, albeit under the influence of their elders. Given the region's warm southern climate and the natural exuberance of children, their clothing choices prioritise both durability and comfort. They employ robust fabrics, carefully layered to shield them from the elements while allowing them to engage in their active pursuits without risking weather-related illnesses. ✧β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½βœ§ [Skin by xxRetro] A very much simple layered gown, the Johannian is named after the deceased Crown Princess Johanna Casimir, as it was her who was first seen wearing such a gown around Palatio Monterosa as a youth. Using multiple layers to provide protection to the more delicate children, while maintaining a diaphanous fabric in order to make sure that the child will not overheat while they play in the tropic heat. The Johannian is a dress that has little in terms of design aspect, it uses a simple gown with two layers, the first of which is a tougher material to protect the child from any injuries they may incur as they run around the land. The second gown is a much lighter fabric, used more to offer a sense of style to the outfit. Often using a variety of colours, the children who are considered to be more boisterous often wear darker hues in hopes that the dirt they accrue upon their cloth will not be too visible. The fabric may also be patterned if the child is of a noble to royal background, usually with images of flowers or a hatch design. ✧β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½βœ§ [Skin by Zuziee] Attributed to Prince Michael Marcellus, th0ugh he is not known to be the first to bear such an outfit as an infant, the Michaellian is a simple outfit, akin to that of Fustenella of the adult males. Its lightweight design has been made more durable with the addition of stronger fabrics to ensure the child’s wellbeing and safety, but further stylised with a cape. Maintaining the skirting of the fustanella, the child will always bear trousers underneath it unlike their adult counterparts, almost always made of a tougher fabric so they shall not injure themselves in their daily activities running around the Kingdom. The outfit has a lightweight tunic with long sleeves, often decorated with a pattern towards the middle or end of the sleeve, of which is usually a hatch pattern. Finally a cape may also be added to the outfit, around the boy's entire body, not dissimilar to the Fusta as seen first by the Peter d’Arkent. Often using more neutral tones for the majority of the outfit, it would be the cape that actually adds a spark of colour to the ensemble, often using rich hues and dyes. βœ§β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€βœ§ IV β₯Ό PENTINATS β₯½ Another fascinating avenue for self-expression and individuality among the people of Balian lies in their remarkable hairstyles. Dealing with the challenges of the humid, salt-laden air, Balianese individuals have devised ingenious methods to keep their hair in check. These distinctive hairstyles stand out among their peers, showcasing both creativity and adaptability in response to the demanding environmental conditions. ✧β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½βœ§ [Skin by Marsllol] A braiding technique that uses several braids to make larger ones. It is a braiding technique associated with the Rhenyari people but has grown in popularity since the Ba’as influence has grown on the nation, both from Queen Andromeda and Sarson Halgrim’s earlier efforts. An intricate, difficult and ultimately impressive hairstyle, the Rhenyari braids are perfect for the heat as they prevent the hair getting frizzy and looking peculiar in the heat. To begin such a laborious technique you must first create three basic braids next to one another of equal size and shape. Once this is complete, one must then take all three braids and begin intertwining them in an Auvergnian braid to create a larger and far more intricate braiding. These braids are commonly associated with wealth due to their complexity and how long it takes to create one and as such the braid is more often not decorated. The decorations can take several forms, whether it be beads, ribbons, gemstones, flowers or other such items to compliment the woman’s natural hair colour within the braid. ✧β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½βœ§ [Skin by Marsllol] First seen worn by Princess Imperial Constantia Irene in the earlier days of the city of Atrus, the Balianese bun is a staple of Balianese hairstyles. The polished and refined style emerged as popular very quickly as it both kept the hair from flyaways or frizz and also offered a sense of sophistication to the woman who wore their hair up like this. The formation of such a bun begins by separating both sides of the hair and pulling each side together to ensure they are separated. Then both the sides are pulled together and twisted around one another and coiled into the bun shape with a great sense of precision to form the neat and well structured bun. Once this is done, the bun is then held in place through either hair pins or hair ties, completing the refined beauty of the Balianese bun. This may further be embellished with decorative pins and for special occasions various fresh flowers would be placed in the hair. ✧β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½βœ§ A simple yet elegant way to titivate one's hair style, the Perles of Balian are intricately and beautifully crafted metal beads with various designs upon them. This particular style has no known origin and seems to have developed over several years of the Balianese women making a smaller braids in their hair and placing the Perles in their hair to hold them in place. The Perles style is quite simple, consisting of various thin braids within the otherwise loose and long hair. These braids can be as complex and opulent or as simple and understated as one desires, however the beauty of them lies purely in how the lady chooses to decorate them. Often with designs based on the beauty of nature or bearing various random patterns upon it, the Perles are fit in various portions of the braid to adorn them in an elegant manner. It is considered that the more elaborate the design of the beads, the higher the status of the one who was wearing it. βœ§β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€βœ§ V β₯Ό JOIES β₯½ The Balianese have emerged as trailblazers in the realm of importing and crafting intricate jewellery from distant lands. They employ the finest metals, alloys, and the most dazzling gemstones to create exquisite pieces of artistry. These creations serve as stunning adornments for the women of Balian, who proudly showcase these treasures not only within their realm but also across distant lands. ✧β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½βœ§ An item of jewellery dating back to the earlier days of the Kingdom of Ba’as, the PerfoaciΓ³ del Ba’as is a ring piercing that is placed on a person’s septum. First introduced by Queen Andromeda and her sisters upon their arrival in the Palatio Monterosa. Such a piece has continued to be popular, especially amongst the denizens of the Palatio Aranciones, also being beloved by Princess Sibyl Gwyneth. In simple terms, the PerfoaciΓ³ del Ba’as is a ring piece of metal that has been placed in the cartilage of a person’s septum. The process for creating the hole for this piercing is very much the same as any other, but through the septum, an experience often considered more peculiar than it is painful. The ring would appear to be complete and near impossible to remove, however there is a catch in which one is able to break the ring of metal and remove it from their nose. The ring itself always symbolises statues, a tradition that dates back to the Old Balthalite empire, with the Queen of a nation always having the most elaborate piece and any peasantry having a near plain piece. Featuring beautiful gems and intricate metal shapes, the Queen and her children would bear the most gorgeous of PerfoaciΓ³s. ✧β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½βœ§ The Torcadores are piercings of the ridge of the ear, otherwise known as the helix. Such piercings originate from the local tribespeople of the area of the Southern Almaris continent that later came to be known as the Kingdom of Balian. These tribespeople would implement several piercings across their body but it was the piercing of the helix that seemed to gain the attention of the Petrine diaspora that would soon found the nation. For the most part this would be a simple piercing, akin to that of a more common ear piercing, simply placed in the helix of the ear rather than that of the earlobe. Though considered a little more painful than that of the regular earlobe piercing, it is a relatively non-painful piercing to get. The piercings here are only ever rings and more often than not entirely plain rings of metal, though occasionally one may deviate from this and have some small decoration on the ring. The amount of rings upon one’s helix is often attributed to a number of things that they wish to keep track of, however what it is used to track is up to the discretion of the owner of the piercings. ✧β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½βœ§ One of the biggest staples of Balianese fashion, the Polseras refer to the bracelets that the women of Balian adorn upon their arms. It is impossible to not notice the Polseras while in Balian for it is something all women wear, be they of high or low status in society. This fashion came to pass as the Balianese women began to wear shorter sleeves due to the heat that was felt in the nation, which allowed them to begin showing off more jewellery, leading to the invention of Polseras. The Polsera is a piece of jewellery sized specifically to fit one of various different portions of a woman's arm. The placement of them is not specific to any one place on the arm and many wear them on both the forearm and bicep at the same time. Often little more than a simple band with basic decor for the commoners of Balian, the nobility and royalty often pay significant amounts of mina to have specially crafted Polseras made sporting designs of great beauty and gems of rarity. Oddly, convention states that a woman may not sport more than four Polseras on her left arm, but may have up to six of the bracelets on the right arm, having more would be considered an insult to those in presence. βœ§β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β₯Όβ˜Όβ₯½β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€β”€βœ§ Her Royal Majesty, ANDROMEDA ESTER OF BA’AS, Queen-consort of Balian, Countess-consort of Monteres, Viscountess-consort of Pompourelia, Eflen and Anatis, Baroness-consort of Brucca, Valens, Malenos, Goza and Ciavola, Lady of Portoregne, Atrus and Monterosa, Warden of La Costa Rubinissima, Protector of the Heartlanders and the South, etcetera Her Highness, MISCHA OF ILLATIA, Princess of Haense, Duchess of Greywyn, Countess of Florentine, Palatiodora of the Palatio Arancione Her Royal Highness, SIBYL GWYNETH, Princess of Balian, Countess of Senna, Curador of the Palatio Arancione

II β₯Ό HH, Mischa Florentina of Florentine β₯½ @Melpomenne Head to the Council of Monterosa. Whosoever assumes this position shall be vested with the honour of becoming the preeminent member of the Council of Monterosa, entrusted with the formidable duty of stewarding the Court in the service of the Head of Court, actively contributing to its efficient administration and sustained well-being. These esteemed advisors shall be mandated to attend the Council's deliberations, yet it is to be explicitly understood that they shall exercise no executive authority therein. β₯Ό HE, Peter Theodoric d’Arkent β₯½ @Majesticpasta Head to Division of Servantry, head to the Office of the Household. It is noteworthy, however, that their authority is superseded by that of the Queen and the Palatiodora in matters concerning the court's daily administration. Should both the Head of Court and the Palatiodora be absent, the Zelador shall stand in for them at functions of the Courta Cometa. 23. Issued by the Andromedan Court On the 17th of Lothar’s Gift, 73 BA To the Esteemed Citizens of Balian and the Distinguished Members of the Andromedan Court, I extend my warmest greetings to you all on this momentous occasion. It is with great pleasure and profound respect that I address you today regarding the appointment of Her Highness, Princess Mischa of Haense, as the new Palatiodora. Her ascent to this esteemed position marks a pivotal moment in the history of our beloved Balian and the Andromedan Court. Before I delve into the remarkable plans that Her Highness has for our illustrious city and court, I wish to take a moment to express our heartfelt appreciation for the dedication and service of the former Palatiodora, Dona Nicoletta Septimia of Sarkozic. Her tenure was marked by unwavering commitment and tireless efforts to uphold the traditions and values that define our realm. We owe her a debt of gratitude for her years of exemplary leadership. Now, as we look to the future, we must recognize that the appointment of Princess Mischa heralds a new eraβ€”one that promises to be as transformative as it is promising. Her Highness brings with her a vision that is both visionary and forward-thinking, and her period of power will undoubtedly be etched into the books of history. Princess Mischa's foremost objective is to breathe new life into our vibrant city of Balian and to rekindle the spirit of our people. She envisions a court that not only respects tradition but also embraces progress and innovation. Her plan is nothing short of revolutionary, aimed at creating a more harmonious and dynamic society for all. To achieve this ambitious goal, Princess Mischa intends to implement a comprehensive series of reforms within the court. Her initiatives encompass everything from education and the arts to infrastructure and cultural revitalization. Under her guidance, we will witness the restoration of Balian's rich cultural heritage and the emergence of a flourishing, diverse community that thrives on its differences. Princess Mischa's dedication to our people and her vision for a brighter future are boundless. Her commitment to inclusivity and her tireless efforts to promote social justice will undoubtedly leave an indelible mark on our city and the Andromedan Court. We, the people of Balian, are fortunate to have such a visionary leader guiding our destiny. Together, we shall build a community that will stand as a beacon of progress for generations to come. Signed, HER ROYAL MAJESTY, Andromeda Ester of Ba’as, Queen-consort of Balian, Countess-consort of Monteres, Viscountess-consort of Eflen and Anatis, Baroness-consort of Brucca, Valens, Malenos, Goza and Ciavola, Lady of Portoregne, Atrus and Monterosa, Warden of La Costa Rubinissima, Protector of the Heartlanders and the South, etcetera.
  24. Issued by the Andromedan Court On the 15th of Sigismund’s End, 65 BA After many years of dedicated service, it is with heavy heart that the palace must announce that Dona Serena is stepping down from her position as Palatiodora. A truly remarkable woman, Dona Serena has held true and provided important work for the court and its people. Which includes revamping the inner workings, repopulating court positions, and improving relations of international courts. The crown commemorates the services provided and wishes Dona Serena luck on all her future endeavors. Taking on the role is the Viscountess Pompourelia, Dona Nicoletta Septimia of Sarkozic. With past experience as Lady Celebrant under her Highness, Princess Augustina, her understanding of the inner workings of court made her a formidable candidate. It is her goal to denounce the negative connotation that lingers with the idea of court by influencing the peers and citizens of Balian to take action and garner excitement in supporting the Monarch’s inner workings. It is a privilege, not a chore, to serve within the ranks of our Monarch’s court. It has come in recent years that the assumed role of the court is frilly behavior amongst ladies to discuss fashion, etiquette and personal matters when this is far from the truth. To receive a peerage from the King is a great honor and to serve under his house within his workings is even more so. It is the duty of Peers to provide for the court and the Monarch’s house in atleast one way. With either representation or with their own kin.
  25. THE MONARCHS OF BALIAN A Completed Study and Report of the Past, Present, and Future Monarchs of the Kingdom of Balian Written and Edited By: Lord Casimir Marius Vilac δΈ€ The King of Balian, or Balianese Monarch, is the absolute ruler and authoritative figure in the Kingdom of Balian. The only authority higher than the Crown is GOD. The King has the final say in all matters of state and has no equal in legal power. In order to effectively rule, the King of Balian elects a Duana, originally known as the Ducal Chamber, which is a small, trusted group of individuals that carry out specific tasks in the governance of Balian. The Duana contains the Constable, Legate, Censor, Magister, Procurator, and Amiratus. The Amiratus, or Chief Minister, is the King’s personal advisor and the penultimate authority within the Kingdom. The Amiratus also manages and runs the Duana. The King of Balian is never seen far away from His Queen. All Queen-Consorts thus far have been of noble lineage and hold equal titles to the King but not equal power in the Kingdom. However, the Consort does hold considerable sway in matters and helps run the kingdom effectively. The current ruling family in Balian is House Novellen. Once the Imperial House in the Holy Orenian Empire, the remnants marched South after the Brother’s War and founded the Grand Duchy of Balian under King John I. House Novellen has existed since 1753, after the Union between Joseph I and Anne I, and has a strong future ahead of it. δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€ I King King John I of Balian John Casimir Novellen 1817-1900 | 21 B.A. - 33 B.A. | 1867 - 1900 @Imperium Consort: Gwenyth of Karosgrad Children: Alexander I, King of Balian, Princess Royal Constantia Irene Novellan, Princess Augustina Therosia Novellen, Countess of Salia, Prince Constantine Antonius Novellen, Archduke of Petra, Princess Persephone Maxima Novellen-Vilac John Casimir, or John I, was the first King of Balian and the only Grand Duke of the Grand Duchy of Balian. Born in 1817 in the Holy Orenian Empire under the reign of Philip II, he was the second son of Prince Philip Aurelian Novellen, the Heir Apparent of the Empire. The early years of John I were unremarkable, to say the least, and he fell into the background as he was never meant to rule. But rule, he did. Growing up as a member of the Imperial Household, John Casimir had access to the finest education and became proficient in a multitude of fields, including Military Command, Politics, Economics, and others. However, he had a remarkable prowess for militarism, as was shown in the later years of his life. When the War of the Wigs erupted between Oren and Urguan, John served alongside his brother, Philip III, and fought in numerous battles, including the Siege of Haverlock and the Battle of Lower Petra, two major victories for the Imperials. Soon, though, the golden years of the Holy Orenian Empire came to a close after the tragic deaths of John’s brother, Philip III, and his wife. When the Brother’s War erupted between Prince Frederick Novellen and Peter IV, John sided with the Imperialists. After a decisive battle in New Providence, Peter IV is slain, and John Casimir rallied what little remains of the Imperialist forces. Facing utter defeat from the Royalists, John leads the remnants south, following the Star of Saint Lothar. Crossing oceans and wandering through deserts, John Casimir eventually landed upon a mount, which was named Monterosa. There he declared the formation of a new nation, the Grand Duchy of Balian, and the construction of a new city, Atrus. With the help of his Consort, Gwenyth of Atrus, John I built up the city of Atrus and led the Orenian remnants in creating a new haven for all. Still, the new Balianese found backlash and heartache from the original inhabitants of the land: the Nashifah Confederacy. In what would become known as the War of the Ruffians, the Grand Duchy of Balian, alongside their Norlandic and Hyspian Allies, fought against the Nashifah and secured their foothold in the southern deserts of Almaris. In the aftermath of the war, John continues to develop the Grand Duchy of Balian, implementing the Ducal Chamber and other changes. The Grand Duchy and its citizens flourished in the desert, and soon it would no longer be a Grand Duchy but a Kingdom. Finally, in 21 B.A., John Casimir Novellen is coronated as King John I of Balian, beginning his twelve year reign as King. His Queen-Consort, however, became more absent, shying away from the public. Though the two remained loyal till the end of their days, the public rarely saw the Queen-Consort. So much so that it was assumed she perished. John I, unwavering, continued to develop the Kingdom of Balian, issuing land permits to the Noble houses. Finally, in 1900, 33 B.A., John I fell ill and became bed-ridden alongside his loyal wife, Gwenyth Anaystasia. John I continued to try and govern the Kingdom alongside his Royal Chamber, but it was in vain. It was the Royal couple’s time to depart. The Queen-Consort passed on, and in the very next hour, the reign of John I, First King and Grand Duke of Balian, came to an end. δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€ II King King Alexander I of Balian Alexandros Casimir Novellen 1861-1921 | 33 B.A. - 54 B.A. @Shmeepicus Consort: Yelena of Marsana Children: Adrian I, King of Balian, Prince Alexios Michael Novellen, Count of Pavano, Princess Royal Elena Casimira Novellen de Lyons, Countess of Rosemoor, Princess Lydia Antheia Novellen, Countess of Caluzzo Alexandros Casimir Novellen, more commonly known as Alexander, was the firstborn child of John I and Gwenyth of Atrus. Born in 1861 in the Holy Orenian Empire, under the reign of Philip III, his childhood was a tumultuous one, filled with wars and violence. Living through near back-to-back wars, Alexander never had the childhood a child deserves. At the age of only 7, Alexander and his father, John I, led the Imperialist remnants south to rebuild after the loss of the Brother’s War. After establishing the Grand Duchy of Balian atop Monterosa, Alexander began to adapt to his new life in the South. During his teen years, it was common to see Alexander training with the Company of Balian among its officers. While he never officially took up rank within the Balian military, It was noted that he displayed remarkable proficiency with the bow on horseback. Some may say that Alexander’s training with the Company may have saved his life on numerous occasions. Alexander continued to participate in various skirmishes and battles as the Grand Duchy of Balian maintained its foothold in the South. He fought alongside John I in the War of the Ruffians, helping to secure multiple decisive Balian victories. At a young age, Prince Alexander began to develop feelings for Yelena Lorena vas Ruthern. Yelena had grown up much like Alexander in the shadows of the Brother’s War and retreated to Balian alongside the rest of the Imperialist remnants. As the pair grew closer in the Grand Duchy, they both fell in love and were wed in 1882. Alexander continued to help with the ruling of Balian, standing in for his father when needed. When the Kingdom of Balian was formed, Alexander took on the role of heir apparent, not to a Grand Duchy but to a kingdom. A king to be. Following the death of King John I in 33 B.A., Alexandros Casimir Novellen ascended the throne as King Alexander I of Balian, thus beginning a twenty-one year reign. In many ways, Alexander’s reign was marked by peace, justice, and prosperity. After the chaos of his childhood and the chaos that befell the Orenian Empire, Alexander led the kingdom of Balian into an era of opulence. That is, until tales of a vile beast began to spread around the continent. A name that made even the strongest of knights tremble in fear. Cloudbreaker Thus began one of the largest mobilization efforts in the history of Almaris. A war against the dead was about to be waged. As the forces of Iblees began to enact terror on the lands, the soldier King led the charge against it. Alongside his Duana, Princess Lydia Antheia, and Seneschal Ledicort Vuiller, a covenant was drafted that was named The Atrus Covenant. In one of the most spectacular accomplishments of the Kingdom of Balian, for the first time in what seemed like decades, the Descendants were united. From Urguan to Vortice to the Iron Horde, a united front was built with the singular goal of slaying the undead. And so, the day came. The sky above Atrus darkened, and the crackling of crimson lightning was seen throughout the desert. The Atrus Covenant stood ready to defend the city. As the Siege began, that vile beast was spottedβ€”a cruel, imposing skeleton of what once might have been a majestic being. Undead flesh hung from the wings and bones of the creature. Teeth, the size of longswords lined it’s jaw, ready to crush a man in seconds. The drake flew towards Atrus, and the fight began. The soldier King stood with his men and even his children, organizing the effort to destroy the evil Cloudbreaker. The Atrus Covenant fought tooth and nail against the undead until, finally, victory was achieved and Atrus was saved from annihilation. King Alexander I had slain a dragon. Despite the incredible feat of killing the undead, Alexander became known for more than just fighting. After the events of the Siege of Cloudbreaker, the soldier King became no more. Instead, he began a dream. A dream that is shared by his son and heir, Hadrian. The dream of Pax Humanis. Even towards the end of Alexander’s rule, when the Adrian rebellion took place, he never wavered in his dream of peace. In the waning hours of his reign, Alexander I formed a new covenant, or a League. The Canonist League was formed, uniting much of humanity under one banner. As he grew older, Alexander came down with a terrible disease, much like his father. For two years, Alexander’s son Hadrian and Gaius var Ruthern ran the kingdom. Night befell the Palatio Monterosa in Atrus. Tales began to circulate within the palace that Alexander’s time had come. As his children and close relatives were called up to his room, it became clear what was happening. One by one, the visitors came and went, saying their goodbyes to their King. And as his chest fell still, King Alexander I, β€˜the Just,’ of Balian joined his brother, mother, and father. δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€ III King King Adrian I of Balian Hadrian Casimir Novellen 28 B.A. - Present | 54 B.A. - Present @Parodies_ Consort: Andromeda of Ba’as Children: Princess Johanna Casimira Novellen, Princess of Monterosa, Heir Apparent to Balian, Prince Alexander Casimir Novellen, Count of Pontazuro, Princess Sibyl Gwenyth Novellen, Countess of Senna, Princess Eirene Daria Novellen, Countess of Caluzzo, Prince Michael Marcellus Novellen Hadrian Casimir Novellen, also known as Adrian, is the firstborn child of King Alexander I of Balian and Yelena of Marsana and the current King of Balian. Even with just under ten years of rule, Adrian I has led the people of Balian through some of the most troublesome times. Never far from his Queen-Consort, Andromeda of Ba’as, it is clear that the Kingdom would not be where it is today without their efforts. Born in 1895, Hadrian Casimir Novellen lived a relatively peaceful life throughout his childhood, quite the opposite of his father. During the Siege of Cloudbreaker, he and his sister, Lydia, took up arms against the beast and the undead. As Hadrian aged, he became more interested in the arts of alchemy, taking various lessons and learning a variety of skills, becoming one of the most skilled alchemists in the Kingdom of Balian. During his teenage years, the Prince became acquainted with the newly arrived Princess Andromeda of Ba’as. A striking and elegant figure, Andromeda quickly made a name for herself within the Kingdom and on Hadrian. Approving of the match, King Alexander I of Balian announced in a missive the eventual marriage between Hadrian and Andromeda, which was scheduled for the year 1920, 27 B.A. The wedding and celebrations took place, and it was soon known that Princess Andromeda was with child. As the years changed, it became clear that King Alexander would not see another year. Hadrian and Andromeda said their goodbyes to the aging king, and King Alexander passed away. Hadrian Casimir Novellen ascended the Balianese throne as King Adrian I of Balian, beginning his prosperous reign that is still taking place today. Before the coronation of Adrian I, Andromeda of Ba’as gave birth to the Heir Apparent of Balian, a spry Princess! Princess Johanna Casimira Novellen is set to inherit the Balian throne. Adrian continued his father’s wishes, condemning the Adrian Rebellion and continuing to build relations with other nations as well as strengthening the Canonist League. However, the most defining moment of Adrian’s reign thus far is soon to come. Whispers across the continent of Almaris began to surface of a new foe, stronger and more powerful than the undead faced at the Siege of Cloudbreaker. They were soon given a name. The Mori’quessir. As the Mori Invasion began to carve its way throughout the continent, the descendants banded together once more to put an end to this seemingly impossible foe. Skirmishes and battles were fought all across Almaris as every nation faced the threat with everything they had. But it soon became apparent: The Mori would succeed. Still, the descendants fought back, even after the Fall of Alisgrad in Norland and other strongholds, until the Mori began knocking at the gates of Atrus. A sandstorm kicked up, and Atrus came under siege. The Mori surged forward, and the Balianese, led by Adrian I, fought back. To some, it was reminiscent of Cloudbreaker. To others, it was hell. As the battle waged on, the Balianese saw that it was to no avail. Where one was killed, two took their place. An evacuation order was announced, and the citizens of the Kingdom took refuge in the ruins of Savoy. That was our last stand against the Mori’quessir. The time grew near, and the descendants gave it their all. Every survivor, soldier, woman, and child fought with everything they had. But it was no use. Adrian I led his people to safety, aboard ships that carried the survivors to new, uncharted waters. After a brief stop on the island of Failor, Balian found its new home on the continent of Aevos. There, King Adrian I and Queen-Consort Andromeda of Ba’as established a new city: Portoregne. The Kingdom of Balian is once again growing strong and prosperous. With the Adrian Rebellion resolved, the dream of Pax Humanis is on the horizon. King Adrian I of Balian is only just beginning his reign. With more to come in the future, Balian is entering a new golden age on Aevos. δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€ The Future Queen Princess Johanna Johanna Casimira Novellen 54 B.A. - Present @MunaZaldrizoti As the Kingdom of Balian looks towards the future beyond King Adrian I, understanding the Heir Apparent to the Balian throne is essential. Princess Johanna Casimira is the current Heir Apparent of Balian and the firstborn child of King Adrian I and Queen-Consort Andromeda of Ba’as. She is set to inherit the throne at the passing of Adrian I. Johanna is a young, energetic spirit, often seen running around the square of Portoregne alongside her trusted, furry companion: Tobias the Balianese Panda. In fact, Johanna and Tobias have developed such a trusting relationship that she sometimes rides Tobias like a horse! Johanna has even done this in battle, after chasing off a group of bandits who kidnapped and attempted to murder a traveler. Johanna Casimira is not hard to miss. Seldom not in a rush to get somewhere at speed, Johanna often yells β€œBasho!” to those who aren’t keeping up with her. It is also her battlecry! While still young, Johanna Casimira has begun trainings with Alberic du Loc, a trusted companion and cousin of the King Adrian I. While she is still young, the future of Balian seems to be in good hands. δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€δΈ€ SIGNED, HER ROYAL MAJESTY, Andromeda Ester of Ba’as, Queen-consort of Balian, Countess of Monteres, Viscountess of Eflen and Anatis, Baroness of Brucca, Valens, Malenos, Goza and Ciavola, Lady of Portoregne, Atrus and Monterosa, Warden of La Costa Rubinissima, Protector of the Heartlanders and the South, etcetera.
