You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” ((How do you respond?)) Reluctantly, K'nani stepped a small bit more into the tent. She studied the hags face briefly before sitting down on the cushion she was instructed to sit on. Her eyes wandered around the tent, but only for a moment. With a small huff, the girl responded, "My story?" She narrowed her eyes, deciding whether or not to trust this old woman. Eventually, K'nani came to a conclusion. " Well,I’ve lived within the charming kingdom Aaun.” With a delicate sigh, she continued on, “I was born into a humble family. From a young age, I developed a deep love for the land, watching the seasons change and learning the secrets of the Earth from my parents.” K’nani crossed her legs carefully, resting her hands on her lap. “I was a bright and inquisitive child, known for my insatiable curiosity.” Gently, she pushed some hair behind her ear, “As I grew older, I often ventured into the nearby forests and meadows, exploring the flora and fauna that surrounded me.” A small smile appeared on K’nani’s face, “These experiences instilled in me a profound respect for the natural world, and I began to dabble in the art of herbalism, learning to identify plants, brew remedies and harness the power of the Earth for healing.” Her smile grew wider whilst reminiscing on her past, “My love for my lands and my people went beyond the land. I dedicated my free time to helping those in need, whether it was aiding the sick and injured, or simply lending a compassionate ear to those with heavy hearts.” Her smile faded ever so slightly. “At the age of 18, I realised that my desire to help people extended beyond the confines of my home.” K’nani puffed her chest out confidently, “I yearned to explore the world, learn more about herbalism and deepen my connection to the land.” She held her hands together over her chest, “With my parents blessing and their wisdom as my foundation, I set out on a journey, carrying my modest herbalist’s kit and a heart full of hope.” Bowing her head down, her hair fell over her shoulders, “My journey didn’t last long and I soon fell back home.. But I have a hope to continue it someday.” Determined, she looked up at the hag, “My destiny is uncertain but my spirit is resolute! I seek to learn from the various cultures and people I encounter, to expand my knowledge of healing and to protect people wherever I go.” K’nani rested a hand over her heart, a look of determination plastered on her features. “In my heart, the love for my homeland remains unshakable and I am determined to make a difference in a world filled with both beauty and danger.” Her expression softened, gaze fixated on the hag, “And that’s how I ended up here.”
