Arya, now the sole Margrave of Avistra, maintained her busy-as-ever duties. Her schedule all written out, though no way to tell if it would be followed, or what unseen events held true. Soon, retirement for herself would not be long. It was true though, and admittedly, Arya never thought she'd see a day she'd rule by herself. "Take a rest, Mel. You've fought a long time. I'll be there shortly." She sighed harshly, rubbing her forehead, sitting at her desk. Infront, paperwork to deal with, everlasting. Work never stops. "Forward Avistra."

"How. Bird themed! I quite love birds. We should go." Mused the Margravine. Arya Altwegg would prepare her bags and gifts too!

Her son, Merle Altwegg, had gone quite far in terms of his life since she had encouraged him to do more. Joined hand in hand with the templars, he'd even become one under one of them. This elf in particular, struck Arya as odd. Perhaps it was his demeanor, his regard for his own life. She cherished hers and he seemed so, tired. One particular day, the aged woman stood just outside her manor, hovering near the mural of the Saint Lucian's War when he had approached. "He's a good kid you know." "I know. He's just my last son. The last of my kin still alive. I worry for him as a mother does." Arya huffed, shaking her head gently. "I see him like my own brother." Quipped the Templar. A hand on his hip. "I'm glad. Promise me one thing, Elerrion." "Hm?" "Promise to be there for him. Even when I'm gone?" The mother's gaze lifted upwards to meet the hedgeknight's. "I will, Arya. I'd have it no other way." With him gone, and the news broke, she held her son in her arms as he grieved until he chose to break away. There was no one else to watch over him. And when she was gone, who would then? "Rest well, Sir Elerrion." Arya dipped her head. She intended to honor him, as long as she lived.

Nearby a fireplace, someone presents the Margravine Avistra the missive in her recovery. Her face scrunched slightly. What was so wrong with help from a spouse? Sure, perhaps her and Rethel never had the best of history, but she quite liked her nephew. "For once, ridiculous," Arya Altwegg rolled her eyes. She'd often read the pamphlets in her boredom. Today was no such exception. "Surely nothing wrong with asking help on an everlooming stack of paperwork. I doubt Phoebe did it all herself."

Amongst rubble, grows the roots of a new civilization. The exploration parties sent out have been successful in establishing a basepoint and securing the location of the area that we’ve chosen to begin anew. While our current lands are quaint, we have long since had little room to grow further, and with this chance we shall seize it. The age of prosperity, dare I say possibly the next era of Avistra, unseen since before the Margrave’s war is upon us. I ask everyone able bodied to begin helping put together carts and gathering their belongings. The trip will be long, and it will be arduous. We fly south, to new lands and begin anew. With this revitalization, we pray and ask for good harvest and fortune unto our people. Camps and tents are to be set up and furthermore buildings are to be put in place before we have intentions of building a new keep. By her fireplace, the Margravine received news. She did not know the good Ledicort as well as she would have hoped. Yet he was more a familiar face then those she saw amongst the Empire in the coming days. One of the last few she recognized from a bygone era. One long behind her now. Arya Altwegg exhaled deeply. The coming years would be hard on her, no doubt. She lit candles, and quietly prayed, as she did for every loss. And every loss to come. There was no time to weep. No time to shed tears. Only time to keep working. "God guide you, Ledicort. We thank you for your help. Take your rest now, yes? You've worked hard for all of our sakes."

The Margravine, who had long known the smith since the days of Avistra's establishment back on Aevos across the river from Ivoria, cried. Even as people had left her life, or were fated for the skies above, she steeled her heart. This time she was left broken. Arya had to declare him dead. He was cold the touch already, and the muscles tensed. Once he'd been taken to the morgue, she spent too much time up in her room. The letter was delivered, handed to her. Arya clutched a copy of the will at her desk, inconsolable for the next few hours. Her head buried into the wood. "This isn't what I wanted for you, Matteo. You didn't even get to retire."

Arya Altwegg, his wife, tucks him into bed and goes back to her alchemic studies. She was tired after the battle herself but progress waits for no-one.

Although she had not been present for the events of the raid, the Margrave had heard plenty of it upon her return from the capital. Peasants loudly cheering, with tankards that clattered in the city square about the victory they held over those of greater resolve. It was true. Drusco was something else and since the war, they had refrained from raising blades or trying to chew too much that they could handle. The talons had born against the teeth of dogs and they lost. Despite it all, injured and battered, her people persisted. It seemed that the claws of a bird healed had never dulled, even after so many long years of restitution. A smile crossed Arya's face, "Look how far we've come." She would have to join her people for a fight some time.

Arya felt a brow crease inwards, as the remark of her age by her own grandson was made. Regardless, Kestrel wasn't wrong. Despite Merlin being around initially, and Arya having high hopes of providing a proper heir to Avistra to take her and Meili's seat after their time to rule was over, there was a lack of disregard in asking about what one should do study wise for ruling. A lack of interaction with the people. A lack of interaction with even his own Grandmother. The aged Margravine had raised this boy since his youth and he had quickly taken her attributes to be so soaked into his studies, to forget the world around him. Yet he was forgetting about his duties she had entrusted to him. Perhaps it was well addressed. Both claims were well within the boys rights. Right by strength after all.

The Lady-Margrave of Avistra stood before the twisting roots of the rotting flora, shame wrapped in her expression. She did not want the walls to be built before her peoples fields of wheat. Yet Darkspawn had struck her twice in a year. She laid bedridden for months, despite her wish against the very idea of rest. And her Husband and Margrave in equal would not stand for injustice. She did not want her people to fear the roads. Yet they grew weary at the raids that stole her children and people from her. The apple tree was an astonishing piece she left untouched, at Erelith’s request, upon receiving Avistra’s land. Now it stood barren, looming over her people. A threat. And threats must be plucked before they fester. Arya stood before the rotting tree, not afraid, but upset it had come to this. Not only had she lost someone she trusted, she felt as though she failed in her promise to protect part of her village, and now she might need to uproot it and too break that promise with Erelith. “Lo’, heavenly father. How have I earned your ire? Is this punishment? Must I repent?” Arya interlocked her hands, pressing them to her forehead in prayer. Silence washed over her, before she’s ushered back into the manor to try and rest. An impossible task. Her head hung low at the fireplace, reflecting.
