You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” ((How do you respond?)) "Oh, I was just passing through..." She averts her eyes from the hag's unsightly appearance, "I don't mean any trouble I-" The old crone interrupts "I asked you a question and I would like an answer." "I'm sorry." She takes a deep breathe as she recalls the past. "I'm from a small town outside of Norland. My father was a farmer, and before he died he gave me what little money he had so that I could get an education." She pauses, trying to read the woman's face for a reaction but she stares blankly. "I wanted to honor my father but I couldn't. An education sounds wonderful but knowledge don't pay for food. I had to stay on the farm." She looks to the dark night sky. "I tried my best, I put in the work, but it wasn't enough and I had to sell the farm." She wipes away a tear and looks back to the hag "Now I've been wondering, looking for work and just trying to make a livin'." The grown rises from her seat and mumbles disapprovingly, "then welcome to town." She walks away and leaves Charlotte alone in the dark.
