You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” ((How do you respond?))
Stepping deeper into the dimly lit tent shed raise her hand moving aside the wooden mask that sat upon her face. Her eager eyes wandered over every detail of the surroundings, a curious smile playing on her lips. “Quite the setup you have here! Cant say ive come across a place quite as haunting and dingy!” She says in a rather cheery tone indicating a genuine compliment despite her wording.
“My story?” She asks stopping in front of the hag plopping down to sit. Refocusing her gaze to the stranger.
“hm..Well there's not much to it really I suppose..I come from a loving family. They lived their lives in a quiet town. Very kind, peaceful folk really. They may have not been my blood relatives but in every other aspect I consider them as such! And as far as i know that's how they considered me as well." Shed smile warmly recalling the sweet memories
of them.
"As lovely as my life was growing up though I hated it.." Her expression dropped slightly as she said this her tone shifting to one of exaggerated boredom.
"Everything was so orderly it was unnatural. the town. The people. Everything! I tried to live amongst them I really did! but i just couldn't seem to manage without causing a bit of trouble..”
A soft chuckle escaped herself as she recalled a few memories in particular.
“Heh, I gave my poor mum a fright when I led a couple of deerlings into my room one night..Oh! Or when I had let the chickens loose from the farmers coop! Ah..He was not too pleased..A few chicks ended up being snatched by some wolves in that incident..
But isn't that nature's fate? Beasts eat just as we do to survive so it can't be all that terrible can it?
Instances like that however ostracized me a fair bit..Once I turned seventeen however I decided I'd leave on my own accord before I was run out by the townsfolk..
So one night I just left. Wandering into the forest's overgrowth going wherever my feet would carry me. And since then that has been my life. I wander aimlessly seeing what places I'll find, the people I'll meet, and the sights I'll see..A free spirit if you will!” She'd say wrapping up her rambling nodding in silent thanks for listening before she'd lean forward resting her head in her hands asking. “What about you then hm? What's your story?”
