Established to ensure consistency in medicine and alchemical instruction and fill a dire need across the land of Aeovs for competent medical and alchemical practitioners, the Saint Calliope Institute of Medicine and Alchemy was established as a joint effort between House Varoche of Piacenza and generous funding from Their Royal Highnesses, Cecily & Edward Alstion.
The Institute intends not to monopolize the research and practice of medicine and alchemy, but to create a conglomerate of medicinal and alchemical understanding that practitioners everywhere can collectively contribute to and benefit from. This means that members come from and return to many locales or are assigned to places with great need.
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors serves as an oversight committee for the entire College. It comprises seven members: a chairman, four members nominated and voted in by other board members, and two members appointed, one by the Alban Royalty and one by the Church. These members represent the height of their associated practices and collectively work to ensure the College's posterity and future.
The Board meets bi-weekly or as necessary. If members deem a meeting unnecessary, a vote of at least (4) is needed to defer to the following week. The standing quorum for the Board of Directors is six (6) members. Any member who cannot be physically present at a meeting should deliver the intention of their vote to the Chairman at least three (3) OOC days before the vote will take place, or at the Chairman’s discretion.
Chairman of the Board
The Chairman oversees all operations and affairs of Saint Calliope College, ensuring the highest level of competency. The Chairman is responsible for recruiting students and practitioners and nominating board members. The chairman is also the ceremonial head of all board meetings, ensures quorum, and is accountable for breaking tie votes as needed.

Director, Medicine and Healing
The Director of Medicine and Healing oversees the clinic, all operating doctors and healers, and assigns students to teachers of medicine as necessary. The Director of medicine is responsible for ensuring cleanliness and the highest standard of medicine within the Saint Calliope Clinic, and meeting with and tending to patients as necessary.

Director, Alchemy and Research
The Director of Alchemy and Research is responsible for staffing, maintaining, stocking, and ensuring safety within Saint Calliope College's alchemy lab. Additionally, they are responsible for ensuring that all current and active members are properly educated, operating within the laws of their or our home, and providing Saint Calliope College with all necessary medicine and alchemical reagents.

Director, Magic and Non-Human Research
The Director of Magic Research oversees all magic and non-human-related research and ensures that the College stays current on all information surrounding these topics. This position is necessary as the understanding of how magic affects the body is constantly changing.

Director, Finance and Law
The Director of Finance and Law ensures the financial and legal sanctity of the College and its practicing members. This position requires an intense and thorough understanding of the law across the Lowlands and ensures compliance from all members and the College itself. The Director of Finance is responsible for approving the budget, protecting the college coffers, and all other financial matters.
The Director of Finance and Law is Lord Vincenzo Varoche, Baron of Piacenza (@Sebbysc).
Director, Religious Advisement
The Director of Religious Advisement serves as a representative appointed by the Holy Church of the Canon., and is appointed or removed by that institution as they see fit. This position is responsible for ensuring the religious sanctity of the College, assigning religious advisers, and assisting with end-of-life advisement.

Director, Royal Advisement
The Director of Royal Advisement serves as a representative appointed by the Court of Alba. The Court of Alba may appoint or remove the Director of Royal Advisement as it sees fit. This position is responsible for representing the interests of the Alban Crown to the Board as necessary.

Membership
The Saint Calliope Institute of Medicine and Alchemical Research is divided into three colleges, each with several ranks consistent across each College. It is headed by a director and overseen by the board of directors.
Members DO NOT need to be residents of Alba, as all practitioners and prospective students should seek admittance and eventual membership from the Institute. Members are also not required to remain at the Institute after they acquire their membership, and may be assigned to settlements as needed.

Rank promotion is at the discretion of the College’s Director, on advisement from the Institute’s members. Promotion from Student to Member is only granted after a student demonstrates outstanding competency, as membership comes with a Certificate of Approval to Practice from the Institute signed by the Chairman.
