Your character has just woken up in a filthy tent, in a dark town. Looking around, her eyes encounter huts and cabins. The smell of rotten wood and wet moss fills her senses. She bends down and enters the worn-out tent that stood next to the one she woke up in, lit by a row of candles suspended in the air. From the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head. "What brings you to this dingy town?" she begins, then pauses to study your face, gesturing to a cushion for her to sit on. "Tell me your story." ((How do you respond?)) Example: "I don’t remember too much…" Martin was very confused about where he was and where he had been. "I am sorry, what’s your name?" The old woman thinks for a while and answers, "It’s not very important right now. Tell me your story, and I will try to help you." After these words, she smiles a little, trying to calm the boy. Martin is still in shock, but he tries to remember what he was doing last. "I was riding on a rocky road with my horse, whose name is Romet. Then I heard a loud crack under the wheel of my cart, so I wanted to see if everything was fine. I’m not going to fool you—I was a little drunk, because earlier I met a funny guy on the road to the next village. This guy wanted to look at what I had in my offer, because I am a trader going from city to city, trying to live on the money I make from trading. It’s not very easy, but that type of life is kind of..." Martin thinks for a while, with a little sentimental smile. "interesting. But returning to the story: when I was showing this guy what I had on my cart, he seemed a little suspicious. He looked like a hobo, but he had something in his eyes that made me feel..." The old woman interrupts Martin with interest. "Scared?" Martin thinks for a while, trying to remember how the man was smiling at him. Then he says, "Scared... I think the better word is afraid. But after I showed him my goods, he offered me a drink and said, 'This will make your travel better.' I’m not that stupid to drink from other people’s bottles when they offer them, but he was drinking it too, so I thought it wasn’t poisoned. I also knew that this road travel wasn’t going to be fast, so I wanted to make it a little funnier." Martin stands up from the chair to take a breath and walk around, trying to remember more. "So, returning to the last thing I remember. When I got off the horse, I walked behind the cart. Then I saw pieces of a black bottle that had been crushed on the road behind my cart..." Martin ends his monologue and tries to remember more. When he tries to comb his hair, he feels a bandage for dressing wounds that was put on by the old woman. Then he remember. "And after I saw this bottle, I felt pain in the back of my head." Martin ends his story, and the old woman starts speaking. "Okay, I think I know what happened to you. This 'funny guy,' after he drank with you, deliberately dropped this bottle on your cart. When the bottle fell onto the road, you were confused by the sound. He or his companions could easily have eliminated you after you tried to check what happened. I think you are very lucky that you are alive." Martin now looks a little sad, but he is an optimistic type of guy who doesn’t worry too much, so it’s not visible on his face. "But wait... how am I here?" The old woman answers with a smile on her face. "You ran around my tent singing sea songs and screaming for help." "Oh... thanks, and sorry. I don’t remember that." "No problem, but... what are you going to do now?" "Me? I will try to return to my old life as a trader. But I must take revenge, or at least meet the guy who gave me the drink." After these words, Martin says goodbye and leaves the tent with the feeling that he is going to have a very interesting future. The first thing he wants to do is try to get some type of transport, like a new horse, because Romet is probably not alive anymore, or is in very bad hands.
