Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

My home was isolated from the other Halflings, my father was a charcoal maker, which requires a lot of wood water and space away from people. We went into town often when I was younger but as my father got older we went less and less. When the goblins happened across our little hill, they took what they wanted and killed my parents while I hid in a cupboard.
After I buried my parents and repaired the home to the best of my ability I did my best to maintain our homestead for 12 years before I was brave enough to venture out into the world... At the first crossroads I came across this poster asking for people in need of work. That's how I came here.
