  1. Hey Asulon, After much negative feedback towards our recent change in height limitations, allowing normal players to only go up to the old Y:128 and only Ender/Aether VIPs to go above that, we’ve decided to change how this mechanic works a bit. ALL players can now build up to y:150. ALL vips can now build up to y:200. ALL aether VIPs can now build up to y:256. Normally, we would have simply allowed all players to build up to the new game height max of 256. However since our map was generated with a 128 height maximum, all our mountains and natural biomes are made with that height in mind. So if every player could suddenly build things that are 2x as high as the biggest mountains of Asulon, things would start looking a little cartoonish and silly. A few epic buildings makes perfect sense, but we want to make sure there is some regulation to what people build. Originally we limited it to high tier VIPs because we knew those people would be some of the most high quality members that would care about the server, and not want to ruin the terraforming of it. P.S. Beds now heal you again! EDIT: Even if you can't build in a height area, you can still travel there and break blocks there. It's only a limitation on BLOCK_PLACE.
  2. Fixed herochat not autojoining RP channel. Fixed ale. Buffed ale.
  3. Hey Asulon, A few bugs have been addressed. Permission issues with money. Permission issues with NPC’s. Buddy list bug. Unarmed being OP. Other misc. bugs that have been reported. Fixed the stupid “XXX has gone AFK.” messages. (removed) Fixed mob drops, also multiplied all minas drops by 2X until March 19th! Endermen can no longer pick up blocks in regions. String can now be used (right click on any block) to view information about the region you’re in. Wiped modreqs, as we were overloaded with requests to fix above bugs. Working to replace the ale / /help plugin as they are currently both depreciated. Wiped all NPC’s in order to fix a bug with the DB. Updated MOTD. Trying something new with local chunk caching; may significantly improve gameplay. More importantly, I would like to announce that in 48 hours on March 19th, 2012, we will be shrinking our map boarders from 13kX13k to 9kX9K This means that it’s up to you to move any possessions or items you may have beyond 9,000×9,000 to a location within the new boarder 48 hours from this notice. If you don’t, you will loose those items, no exceptions. This is to further our constant battle against lag; the smaller our map, the less chunks, the less chunks, the less memory used, the less memory used, the faster gameplay is! Thank you for your understanding!
  4. I'm afraid not, if we started refunding we'd be tied up for weeks :<.
  5. Hey Asulon, After over 16 hours of insane hardcore programming, I’m finally done. Everything has been updated. Everything has been optimized. Everything (ish) has been fixed. Changes to be aware of: Minas have been reset. All players will start with 500 minas. We didn’t want to do this; but iConomy (the plugin we use) no longer supports the old DB type we were using back from 1.4 and as a result the only solution was to remake the entire DB. GMs will be giving out money to kingdoms, and the drop rates of mobs have been multiplied for a short while. We’re very sorry for this inconvenience but it had to be done! (More information: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/47009-claiming-minas-with-a-charter/) We’re now on Minecraft 1.2.3, HURRAY! Normal players can only build up to y:128. Ender VIP’s can build up to y:200, and Aether up to y:256! Many changes to our site, still working on the graphics. Redid donation page. Gaining health from sleeping in a bed temporarily removed. You can now /addlevel up to level 100. Fixed a bug in our skill plugin that caused players with lvl 275 to have issues with sapping. Huge overhauls to many of our custom plugins for performance optimization. Increased chunk loading distance back to a reasonable amount. Increased mob / animal spawn around chunks with players in them. Cleared out our server file’s cache system, thank god as we haven’t in over 4 months. Citizens (NPCs) have been wiped for the same reason as iConomy. Sorry!! I rewritten over 15,000 lines of code in the last two days for the server, so please have patience if there are any new bugs that spring up and be polite in reporting them. Resolved (hopefully!) lagspike issue. - Vaquxine
  6. Nothing from LOTC would carry over. If it has skill plugin, all levels will be set to 0 on the temp server.
  7. Not PvP based. World PvP just like in main server with RP rules enforced. (although a bit less strict I will admit.)
  8. @RP thingy, yup it'd be a temporary server with GM-run scenario events.
  9. Hey Asulon, As announced earlier this week, we’ll be going offline for some very extensive maintenance on our game server, this will include the update to minecraft 1.2 along with other major fixes. The site, forums, and teamspeak will also be updated during this time. When this will take place: 11:00PM EST [3/16/12] – 2:00PM EST [3/17/12] 8:00PM PST [3/16/12] – 11:00AM PST [3/17/12] 10:00PM CST [3/16/12] – 1:00PM CST [3/17/12] This maintenance will span over approx. 14 hours. What will be unavailable: The minecraft server (login.lordofthecraft.net) The buycraft server (donation center) The website/forums will be offline for short periods of time during the maintenance. What will be updated/changed: Minecraft update to 1.2. Changes to donation page. Changes to some elements of web/forum layout. Fixes to lag-spikes in-game Updates to our 15 custom plugins to support 1.2. Additional VIP reworks. Bugfixes across the board on many different aspects. I’ve been playing with the idea of running a temporary scenario based RP server while the maintenance is going on. Basically it’d be completely unrelated to LOTC lore, we’d simply give some background lore to the situation of the world/location you’re in and let you RP it out with the rest of the community. Let us know what you think about this idea!
  10. Hey Asulon, We know. Furthermore, we’re as pissed off and disgusted by it as you are. We’re (Vaquxine) are/is working as hard as we/he can to resolve these issues. The cause of these infamous lagspikes include: Crappy 1.1 Chunk Algorithms Multitude of intensive custom plugins that effect very wide aspects of the game. (I.E. Skill plugin) We’re cap’d on RAM for our current processor (16GB on E3-1290), and the only way to upgrade to 32GB is to get our hands on some very expensive and rare type of RAM that I as a server hoster have been trying to get an order in for since late Feb. As a result, we have a huge scheduled maintenance period coming up to resolve these issues. The server will be offline for up to 24 hours, possible more like 6-8 hours but really not sure at this point. We’ll post an official scheduled maintenance announcement ASAP. I would just take the server down now and get this over with, but frankly I don’t have time. The last 2 weeks for me IRL have been absolutely insane and I’ve had little to no time to devote to LOTC. Thank god spring break is coming lol; hopefully we can get this maintenance done and over with by late Friday. I debated as to whether or not I should just take the server offline until this maintenance, but I’ve decided against it. I also thought about lowering the slots until this maintenance, also against that as it would make a minimal difference. Thank you for your continued support and we are just as frustrated with you on this matter. I HATE playing games with lag, because it makes me think the devs. are lazy. We’re not lazy, we’re just a bunch of overworked and over-scheduled developers!
  11. Well, the shitstorm was basically "caused" by me, so the senior GM's wanted me to take the time to respond. I've been in livestream with native taking questions this entire time.
  12. It's up to them to contact us, we don't have records of every donation, and a lot of them went to availer's paypal since they donated a long time ago.
  13. We banned him after he started slandering us and causing more and more drama... Paying me to host it? He hadn't even payed the monthly bill, he was 12 days overdue!
  14. Fixed hyperlinks, they didn't copy from original wordpress post.
  15. Hello Asulon, Today I'd like to fully and publicly address a recent accusation that has been made against me personally by LOTC's original founder, availer. I'm not going to try and cover this up because there is nothing to hide, so I thought the best solution to the problem would to publicly address the entire situation and then be done with it. Before I start responding to availer's post, let me just explain what has happened for those who haven't noticed. Availer (the original founder of LOTC) who was kicked out of the project late last year, almost immediately after minecon as a result of his inactivity and failure to want to continue and expand the project, made a post on our official forums early this morning condemning and slandering us as just a bunch of "... adolescent(s) who has committed blackmail and theft." You can find a full copy of his post here, please feel free to read it so you can hear his "side of the story" before reading the truth about all this down bellow. Ok, so let's start at the very beginning of his letter to us. I'll be taking bits and pieces of it and responding to each in an educated and factual manner. I won't even touch on the fact that he claims to be the "lead developer" right now, I'll get back to that in a bit. More importantly, his statement that he was forcefully removed as the owner illegally by none other that myself, Vaquxine is invalid. His removal came as a result of ALL the senior GMs, that being me, shiftnative, nekodanie, tythus, and tyrion agreed that it was for the better of the server. At the time, we had made a formal post as to our reasoning for kicking him out of the LOTC team and that old archived post can be found and read here. Please read this post if you were not around back when this originally happened on November 26 as it explains our reasoning as to WHY we had to kick him out of the development team. 1250 hours, or 52 days is how long availer claims to have worked on this project, but what did he really do? Well, early on in the project he was true to his word he was an amazing leader, he had innovative ideas, great planning, great leadership, etc. This all changed as time went on, and availer became less and less involved in the project. This is what he claims he was doing during these 1250 hours. It is true that he did work on advertising, some text, a bit of art, etc. But the fact that he claims he worked on being a "system admin, programming, web design" is just a joke. I (Vaquxine) did ALL of the programming for this server; I coded every single plugin we use from SCRATCH. Our entire skill system, or /register system, buddy system, permit system, housing system, racial system, mob altering system, event system, everything you see on LOTC that is not in vanilla minecraft is basically made by me. As for web design, availer did not code our site, nor our forums. Not even our teamspeak. I implemented our teamspeak, customized and recoded our site and forums, I was the one who actually implemented it to start. Availer bought the website theme, then messaged me on skype asking me to implement it. I installed nginx, configured php, uploaded the theme, bought the actual machines we were on, etc, etc. Availer was NEVER part of the technical side of the server, he was a big part of advertising and art at the very start of the server, but as I said earlier this all changed as time went on and eventually he spent MAYBE an hour a week online, and a few minutes of that time was spent on barking orders at us and giving us endless things we should do while he just sat back and took all the $ in. Money was never not involved in the project. Money is needed to run the server, whether we wish it did or not. I was the lead programmer at the time, and still am; I was the one who coded everything for the server and maintained everything. I had gotten frustrated at the fact that I knew availer was making a lot $ at the time because paypal e-mails were being forwarded to me so I could update VIPs and stuff in-game as this was before I had implemented the automated donation system. I had told availer that day that I was going to quit, because I didn't like working my ass off every day for nothing. I literally spent time from the moment I woke up to the moment I went asleep programming all the thousands of different aspects of the server and was getting nothing to show for it. I told availer I quit, he then asked me what he could do to keep me around, I told him I wanted payment. We agreed on a % per week based on donations after the amount needed to maintain and upgrade the server was taken out of the picture. As availer said himself, things were just fine at this time, I was being payed for programming the server and doing the main legwork for it, and at the same time we were expanding outwards and increasing our population. Everything was just dandy ... until the next chapter in the story. Availer is completely correct. Things went downhill and began to die because availer, our leader, began to just randomly AFK for weeks at a time only to pop in occasionally to tell us what we could be doing better. He was still the only person receiving the donation $ at this time, and we had no idea where it was going. We moved to the server hosting company I had started and lead for a few months, Legendary Servers, after our current host (ProvisionHost) held our server hostage as a result of availer forgetting to pay the bill for the server. We were offline for over 48 hours while we were trying to get in contact with availer, none of us had the money to pay for the bill, and the phone # and contact information availer gave us to contact him with was all disconnected. I actually ended up paying the bill ($400 at the time) out of my own pocket at the time after we couldn't get in contact with availer. As a result of this, we decided to move to my company Legendary Servers so that if this situation occurred again, I could just keep the server online until availer decided to come back online again and send some of the $ to me to pay for the hardware. We made a post about this back when we originally switched over, the archived version of this post can be found here. Availer thought the idea was brilliant back then, probably because he knew it ment he had to be online even LESS while still raking in the $. The original post made back in Nov. 26 addresses this statement. To summarize, the choice to expel availer from the community was a combined choice between me, native, danie, tyrion, and tythus (and at the time, Respiren) as it was for the better of the server. If you want more details about this particular statement, read the original response we made, there's a link up at the top of the post. The credit system was added before the switch happened. This old system allowed players to basically purchase skill levels with IRL $. This was my idea originally, and availer LOVED it when I told him about it, he even said things to me such as "... Now we can finally start to get some real dosh (money) out of this project man!" I agreed, and the system was implemented. Two weeks AFTER it was added, I had seen the thousands and thousands of dollars that he had been making and I started to get angry that he was making the most (and really only) money and yet he was still the LEAST active. He literally would sign on every month just to check in with us and pay me for staying onboard. The main server host machine costs $550/month. The website host costs $300/month. We spend all the other $ on new GFX for the site, advertising, and supporting our community. Last month (February), LOTC received $1,650. $550 was used to pay for the monthly server bill of the main host, another $300 for the site. We payed $150 to pumpkin_eaters for his GFX work, and plan to pay him further for more graphics. That left us with $650 excess at the end of the month. This money was stored as it always is for tax reasons. I do pay taxes on all the income this server receives and we pay ~20-30% tax, hence why 20-30% of the monthly bill needs to be put away for tax reasons. Did I studder? It's true unfortunately, lately LOTC donations have dipped bellow the margin and we want to make sure the server isn't impacted by this by making our players aware of the situation. No one has. The one only Aether VIP we currently have is Cedric, and he has donated $500 in the past, so we gave him the rank for free. Get your facts straight, availer. Are you kidding me? You flamed every single senior GM for days after the event, telling them how terrible they are to let this happen, you made personal and physical threats against me personally, and tried to get the entire community to hop back into your pocket. You didn't have the energy OR the time, that's why this happened to start with, availer. Well I guess you can consider the truth *puts on glasses* spread. YEAAAAAAH!!! - But in all seriousness, nothing is being hid availer, as you can see from this post... I believe you availer, I truly do. You were a great friend and awesome person to work with while it lasted, I wish we could have continued to work together on this amazing project. If things could have just stayed they were in the Summer of 2011, I think LOTC would be much more sucesfull than it is now. But if we had not acted (and by we, I mean the senior GM's) and lessened your role in the server, it would have died. I didn't want to ban, harm, or insult you availer, I never have and never will. We DEMOTED you, we never BANNED you. P.S. I'm sorry it's come to this availer, wish it hadn't. Regardless of what happens with LOTC, I wish you good luck in life, and I hope your successful mate!
  16. Oh my god, this whole "high lordship" and "kingship" does not mean you donate and immediately become the god-king of anything you want. If you read the description, it simply states that "Being a Kingship member may grant you favor ..." MAY GRANT you, you are not guaranteed a magical rank, and it will still all be handled IC. Do you think we're that stupid lol... And who is going to donate $500 unless they truly adore this server and would only want to improve it anyway.
  17. Shirts cost $ to make. They cost $ to ship. Not everyone wants shirts. We barely are surviving as it is... EDIT: If this "high lordship" and "kingship" is abused, obviously we'd simply ban the person.
  18. Another thing, let's look at the largest server in the game right now. Legendary Craft, averaging 400 people online. Check out their benefits... http://legendarycraft.com/benefits $15 = /godmode $15 = /butcher $300 = You can use /i to spawn any item you want. And you think we're unfair? Do you know how much time and effort it takes, and how much money it takes to host all the things we do? We would die within a month if no one donated, hence why we reward our donators for running LOTC.
  19. VIP25+ Have gotten LWC from the start. Normal players don't. VIP25+ Have full access to falsebook. Normal players don't. VIP25+ Get Shops, normal players don't. This is not an amazing new idea, we've given perks like this to players in the past, why are you acting like this is the end of the world just now? Also, how many people are going to donate $300/$500? Almost no one. Name one large server on earth that gives LESS benefits than us, we are the most liberal of any server.
