  1. One of our server sponsors wanted us to make these changes, and he's payed us a very large sum of money to make it happen, so here we are! :D
  2. Each subrace will have a unique name; we're not sure on them yet, although we found a great fantasy name generating site that we'll probably use.
  3. Huh? What about the update specifically do you not like ._.
  4. Only the base 4 races will be renamed in this patch. We're still considering if we should rename undead, mori, and kharajyr. About?
  5. Er... you could try opening a /modreq, but in most cases yes lag is not an excuse to powergame it off.
  6. Could you give us some examples of what you don't like in the changes so we can improve?
  7. Hey Asulon, I hope you enjoyed your April Fools day as much as I did; was really fun to write this mockup changelog for you all ^^. For the record, I literally had to sit down and think to myself, what are the worst possible updates I could release, and furthermore what changes would kill the server most absolutely. For those that came late for the joke, all the posts that were "-snipped" on the thread about this joke were actually all comments that said 'HAPPY APRIL FOOLS!!' and gave the joke away way too early, when we still got some people to believe it hehe! But no, none of the changes listed will ever occur as long as I can help it except for the 1st and 2nd bullet points, I actually DID do that. We'll be working on the real Patch 2.5 and hopefully have it ready for release sometime this upcoming week! Thanks everyone! --- Hey Asulon, We're going to start pre-announcing patches before they go live so we can get some general feedback on all of our upcoming updates, and so we can make any changes that may be needed before release. With that out of the way, here is what we have planned for patch 2.5, scheduled to drop in a few hours. Fixed a dependency issue with Citizens, caused the skill system combat and character cards to break. Fixed mob spawning rates. Added a 60 second delay to OOC messages to solve some of the apparent trolling and misconduct that has been occurring in the OOC chat. Extend local chat by 100 blocks to compensate for the changes of OOC. (Original: 30 blocks) Removed shout and whisper channels, as they were not being utilized the way we wanted them to be; plus they will no longer be needed with the extended local chat. Fixed the crazy overpowered poison spider venom. Skill System max level has been dropped from 275 to 200. Any accounts with more than 200 levels have been reset and given 200 skill credits. This is for game-play balancing. Map size will be shrunken down to 4,000 x 4,000, just like the Aegis map; this is both for fixes to the latency and to centralize roleplaying more on the GM-made structures. Beds can now be used during the day as well as night! You will now be required to reroll your character on death. Failure to do so will result in an automatic 1 month ban, regardless if the kill was IC or OOC. We'll be renaming the four default races to better fit our lore and gameplay feel. Here's a breakdown of all the new races: Human - Zelot Dwarf - Rockary Elf - Alfefe Orc - Grunshie We'll be enforcing these new race names very strictly, any mention of the old names in lore posts or anything else related to LOTC will result in a permanent ban. We don't normally respond so strictly, but we feel it is critical to the survival of the server. All forums and in-game locations will be renamed accordingly to support this new naming system. Thanks for your continued support and general awesomeness LOTC, keep it up! (And be sure to let us know what you think of this awesome new upcoming patch!) p.s: April fools.

  14. It's a lot easier to lurk on a website than play on minecraft lol. I often never log in to server but spend at least an hour on our site.
  15. Hey Asulon, Today we reached an absolutely amazing goal. We’ve reached 1,100 (or more exactly, 1,103) concurrent users online our forums. This is a breathtaking achievement that we could not have ever dreamed of accomplishing without you. This number surpasses the original record of 964 users online on September of 2011; that was the day the Yogscast promo’d us on their YouTube page. This accomplishment is all the more impressive because it came as a result of the power of the community, not from some famous person tweeting or promoting us. These are 1,001 people who go on our website and game server ever day. From the bottom of the GM Team’s hearts’, we’d like to thank all of you for being so awesome. We wouldn’t be able to host a community that is almost 22,000 members strong with over 1,000 users at one time on our site without your never ending support and donations. It takes a pretty sexy webserver to handle so much traffic, and for that we thank you :). I’d also like to note some other impressive statistics of our forums… 21,321 Register Members 346,472 Total Posts, that means each member posts ~15 times. That is an AMAZING statistic for a forum, and is highly above the average rate. It should also be noted that we are, without a doubt, officially the #1 forum of any minecraft community. Not to mention the fact that this is AFTER the forum wipe we had back in August 2011, in which we lost over 30k posts and 5k members.
  16. You see awesomeness, I see hundreds of lines of recoding for our custom chat plugins :(.
  17. Hey Asulon, We'll be upgrading to Minecraft 1.2.4 as soon as a bukkit build goes live for it. Since not too much was changed API wise, we shouldn't have to recode too much this time around. If you've already updated feel free to use my Minecraft Patcher to downgrade back to 1.2.3. On a side note, I'd like to point out how trolly Jeb is. >> Release Minecraft 1.2 >> "Fix all bugs" in Minecraft 1.2.2 + 1.2.3 >> 2 weeks later, release Minecraft 1.2.4 and change everything again! >> ??? >> Maximum_Trollage.jpeg
  18. (( Please remember this is an RP post, therefore all response should be kept IC. ))
  19. The man stumbled into the tavern, barely making it to a booth before collapsing in exhaustion. His clothes were ripped and his face was caked with dirt, the clear signs of a long and weary journey. Conversation slowly died away, as people began to fix their eyes on this newcomer, and they began to wonder about his appearance. The man lifted his gaze, slowly making eye contact with every person in the room, before he used up the last of his energy and spoke. “I come from a village that was once on the border of Asulon. That village is now gone, and void of life. I will tell you the story of the night that I escaped as the sole survivor.” He looks around the room waiting for any objections, but he is greeted only by curious stares. He continues. I don’t know what it was that woke me. At first I thought I had woken up from a bad nightmare, but then I realized that I wasn’t so lucky. I heard the terrible sounds coming from my neighbors and their children, screaming and coughing dreadfully, and for what reason I don’t know. The noises of grown men reduced to sheer panic and horror was too much for me. Looking around, bewildered and full of questions, the only thing that didn’t seem menacing was the warm, vibrant ray of sunshine coming in through the window. Then that disappeared too, as a grim shadow overtook it, leaving my village and its inhabitants in darkness. There was no time for reasoning, at that moment I grabbed my cloak and clumsily slipped it on while running for the door. I didn’t even have time to open it, and the years of weather strain and termites finally ended up being its demise when I couldn’t help but plow right through it, right out into the open air. Almost immediately, my ears went nearly deaf with the high pitched wails, and I couldn’t breath, almost as if something had sucked the oxygen right out of the air, and I could feel my heart’s pulse quickly fading. Willpower was the only thing that kept me alive at that moment, and I sprinted, faster than I ever have before, away from my village. It felt like an eternity, but eventually I could breath again, and I allowed myself one last glimpse back. What I saw didn’t make sense; the village was deserted, no one in sight, yet the screaming and yelling continued. Then I saw the fog, a mass of shadows with the faces of tormented souls, and it was the source of the cries. I saw as it overtook my village, the village that I had called home for over a decade, and that is when I found myself running away again. During the whole ordeal, I found myself asking the same question over and over again; Why didn’t I heed the words of the man who had warned my village of approaching evil and told us to move further inland? I didn’t listen to him, but I beg you all, listen to me. Stay away from the new border of Asulon that was forced upon us by the fog.” The man’s words made little sense to the listeners, but his message was clear; Anyone who valued their life should stay away from the new boundaries… ((The map has now been shrunken to 9,000×9,000… but is that really all we’re doing in this mini-update? ;] ))
  20. We wish we didn't have to. However it's the most sure-fire way to get a group of dedicated players unfortunately =/.
