The votes are not at all meaningless because it could be the deciding factor over a very important issue. I've explained a number of times what the role of the King is.

And I keep explaining that it is useless.

Why would we overthrow our King when they didn't do anything bad, sure Algrim and Gotrek didn't do anything either, but we have to give them time to do things, and when it was said and done we replaced the kings.

Your looking at it wrong, if we would vote away Thorik (which we are not going to) then we wouldnt have a good replacement cause thorik is just a really good king person.

And if there is something that a grand council memver doesnt like then we discuss it, we're still friends you know.

It's not about voting Thorik away, or the need for a replacement, its about him not having a say. And you actually think that we never discussed anything when we were on the council, because your wrong, sure you can discuss things but people will always have differences, and this argument is mainly about the king, not about the grand council.

The purpose of this thread was just to ask if people want change.

Also, I'll say again, the Grand King heads the meetings in the Grand Council and can also make a vote that counts for two instead of one vote. However, the likelihood is that the Grand Council will come to a decision, based on everyone's opinion so that everyone is happy. If we decided to have a vote on whether or not we'd go to war with somebody for example, the votes would probably be far more important if there was clear disagreement.

That doesn't change the fact that even if he has two votes, they are meaningless, so there is still no point for having a king.

It is going to be extremely difficult to put in a new language, and people are not going to learn a lot of words for mindless activities. You can use those words and all, but every time I see a word I don't know, I will just end up asking over and over again, what does that mean?

I don't like that idea either... A regular user that hasn't donated, that has a large amount of minas would be ripped off. And bedrock donators could just as equally, be unfairly gaining a large amount of minas or materials. This would also make things confusing if plots sizes are being transferred.

I agree, I think that the only fair way to actually make a new map, is to let people keep whatever they have in their inventories AND their minas.

When you take both of these things away for just kits, it is going to be a complete pain to have to reestablish the economy all over again.

Yes, but that is the same as it was before, if we all got together we could have removed the king.

The google document is just to give people an idea of what is going to happen, it doesn't explain every detail.

When did I say the Grand Council can overrule the King? They can oppose the King if they want but the King still has more of a say than the High Councilors do. The King also has a lot of power as he controls both the Grand Council and the military.

The High Lord who is in charge of the military generally makes sure that the ranks are as they should be and is likely to lead them into battle if the Grand King is away. The Legion Commander on the other hand is there to represent the Legion on the lower council. Any High Lords on the lower council are there to govern and make sure that the Grand Council has an influence on the lower council.

You don't, the google document basically says that they can overrule the King since it only specifies that the King can overturn the lower council, but no one else. I have already explained that the King does not have power, and I will not explain it again.

All I am stating is that you need to be more specific in your google doc plan than just implying that people will understand what they can and can't do. As of right now, the King does not control the military since there will be more people that will outweigh his decisions.

No the kings vote counts for 2-3 (Not yet figured) In the high council. He's also the one which will tell the High council what do get working on, So that they will pass it on to the workers.

That is what I am getting at, you should update your document with these things instead of not deciding on anything. And telling them what to get working on isn't really much of anything to do, just saying, because they will end up doing their own thing anyway.

Don't blame finishing the merchant district on me, since I am not the architect, nor is there any point to actually finishing the district when the new map is going to come out soon.

The King would really have more of an influence in council meetings that the other Grand Councillors so that could mean that the King has more votes than the councillors. Remember that the King also has the role of the Lord Marshall which if you've seen what Thorik has had to do recently, is a very important job.

Edit: Plus, we also need somebody to lead the Grand Council meetings.

So you have 1 King in change of the military, and two high council leaders in charge of the military. The king has the power to veto the lower council, but not the High council. The high council can overrule the king at any time. The king has no power, just a figurehead. Why would anyone then want to become king?

You haven't been with in the making, this which you have stated is not true.

The king has the ruling decision, but it is strenghend by the Grand council. The need for king would be the same.

And the link that was given is W.I.P it only holds 70% of all the info, not all have ben added yet.

And what goverment is 100% without fault? The development is not yet finished as it will be changing to the better. But this system i am positive would work much better then the current one.

There are a couple areas in the new system which I think may not work, but the only way to actually prove that is for the system to go into place, and wait and see. My biggest fear is that you have too many people, and the chain of command is going to be confusing for new dwarves who might be confused.

Also, why even have a King when he is useless now?

A Grand King is in control of the Grand Council and the Dwarven military. He can block any decisions made by the Lower Council

So bascially, he can only block decisions by the lower council, but the grand council will be able to do anything they want. If this isn't what you wanted, then you need to make that part more clear, because it looks like the King has nothing to do. All the king does is add regions, which is possibly the most annoying job. What it really needs is a set "advisor" position that can create regions, but this will probably not fly very well with the admins.

Also, there is not definitive place for someone to run the money side of the kingdom, I see somewhere where it mentions High Lord, which will run economics, but is not made up of the higher council. He will control the money side, and that itself could create problems.

For one I haven't been getting payed for my logging, which I'm kinda upset about, and we need a more active king. Sorry Gotrek, but to be king you gotta be a bit more active.

Are you mad? I actually did ask a lot of people to do things. You basically came into this post and are blaming everything that is wrong on me. And yes I did mess up the regions, I'm not good at reigning I can admit that. You need to realize that when Belin was King you did a lot of things to get more houses, minas and all that. But that was the time when you would walk through Kal'Urguan and no one was their, no one except a council of people who recived their job because Belin wad friends with him, and on teamspeak. I tried to bring role play to the city, and help new players to keep them in the city. Ill admit I was lazy and we did not get that much done. Thorik, and Gotrek would be a better King than me. I never said I was good, so enjoy your last days in the government...

You never asked us to do anything, and you keep trying to have a moral high road thinking you were a great king, but finally you admit that you were terrible. Also, what makes you in position to keep bringing up the fact that I won't be in the new government? I have already made my own post, which if you ever occasionally read things you would see my position.

I'm not inactive, I come on the forums everyday, there is nothing to do on the server when no one is a leader, including yourself, you never delegated anyone to do anything. You say you could not finish regioning them which is bullshit, you just don't know how to region because we asked you for two weeks to region them, and when you finally did, you messed them completely up, and never gave me permissions. You were a terrible "king", and you won't admit that to yourself. You really need to stop bringing up your failures in these posts, taking away from the main discussion, and proving that you are incompetent, thanks.

A purposal that has been thought alot about is "Kits"

You choose a "kit" at the start based on your VIP rank

You choose from building supplies, mina, tools, food or a little bit of each

Looks like you'll lose a lot of players, especially when your in the top 20 in mina count, and your VIP rank is going to limit you to probably only 10k or 20k. That is going to negatively affect your player base a lot. Hopefully you choice the "right" choice and not the RP choice.

The problem with housing was that I was only given access to the poor housing, and even at that I do not have access to all of those homes to sell. The other homes have their regions completely messed up, nor do I have access (Algrims fault).

I don't want to put words in anyones mouth, but to me it seemed almost as he was forced to become King and seemed like he did not want to actually be it. Technically he isn't even officially King since he never had a coronation.

It is good that someone has finally taken the initiative to raise awareness to this problem, as the rest of the council members that I know of do not want the position of King, so to that I applaud you.

((I believe the council would work well if more members were introduced. The high council would deal with important issues such as inter-racial relations and the council members would deal with less important tasks such as assigning permissions thus improving the efficiency issues mentioned above.
