That's white on orange (argent on tenne). The latter two representing Staunton and de Savin were directly taken from Youngie's designs (who used to make cost of arms). It bugs me too, but they're pretty much set in stone and are the exceptions .

Although, this is to be expected from the illiterate scum of this world - after all they did not receive the proper education that my nation provides. "

A Condemnation of the Order of St. Lucien

The Throne of the glorious Kingdom of Santegia hereby issues a condemnation of the most foul Order of St. Lucien. The barbaric practices and savage proclivities of the bearers of the gold cross will no longer be tolerated within the confines of the Santegian Realm. The repeated massacre of unarmed innocents extends far beyond the bounds of tolerable conduct. Furthermore the inability of the Pontifical throne to restrain their mad dogs casts a severe blot upon the authority and neutrality of the church. This taint upon the supposedly ‘holy’ order of the Canonist church renders into doubt the legitimacy and morality of the entire faith.

To us it has become clear that the Order of St. Lucien is merely an order of mad dogs coated in a light veneer of pious zealotry. The actions of the church, especially of its affiliates strongly suggests a deep root of corruption and political motivation on the part of the Church. Perhaps a corruption that finds its roots in the conniving influences of Iblees himself.

Furthermore, the Santegian throne would note the hypocrisy that is rife within the ranks of the supposedly holy Church. The church’s failure to hold a truly neutral position in secular conflicts is a matter which we the Santegian people do find deeply concerning insofar as the supposedly legitimacy of the Canonist faith.To demand from us, a statement of neutrality to safeguard Canonist citizenry against the malicious antics of a Canonist society is beyond disturbing. It has also been suggested that the High Pontiff, alone is responsible for these unholy acts, raising questions of his own legitimacy and ability to lead.

The Church has stated that it cannot reprimand the Order of St. Lucien for their atrocities, and as such, extreme measure must be taken by the Kingdom of Santegia and its allies in facing such a threat to the security of our subjects. Thusly we cannot in good conscience maintain an affable relationship with the Order of St. Lucien or the Pontifical Throne.

And to those who continue to kneel to the supposed voice of God, I must ask how one can continue to have faith in a High Pontiff who orders the massacre of innocent preachers, merely because they are of a different nationality?

Upon such news, Leo would suppress his emotions as best he could, maintaining a sturdy facade. "My dear nephew..." He'd mutter as he coldly shunned his evocations away, pressing forth strategically to deal with rebel scum that had played a part in Demetrios' demise. Yet even a King could hold such emotions at bay for so long.

On a cold winter's night, a messenger would appear before him, bearing a letter from Demetrios himself. Quickly dismissing the messenger, he would stow away in his room as he began reading the letter. Each word would chip away at his veneer of composure; sadness would surge through his mind with every expelled breath, always reaching higher peaks and never sufficiently soothed by his long chilling intakes of the winter air. As his mind followed through the final paragraph, all pretence of unseen coping was lost as he sank in his seat.

"...I want you to be remembered on your death as how you were when I met you. A mighty man and king, who brought a revolution to Santegia, a bright future to us all. I want you to enjoy the pleasures of your work. Live, dine, laugh and grow old and watch your children rule and their children after that. And if you can’t, I hope your death was a beautiful one, that the price of death was worthy for what you had planned. And above all else, I want you to believe. Believe in the people, believe in the future. That is what I wish for you, to remember what we fought for, what we bled for, what we killed for. To remember….what our legacy truly is…"

His mind lingered on the final words, tears now involuntarily streaming from his eyes, as his thoughts flashed through past memories. Leo would turn towards the window that dimly lit his room, his gaze piercing the night sky as he muttered, "There are no words that can describe how much I shall miss you, may God continue to guide you even beyond death, and may you peer down from beyond the heavens and smile at the legacy of our work."

October Player Activity Analysis

Some of you may have noticed that, during the month of October, there was an absence of Activity Project reports. This was apparently the result of various internal changes in the Game Moderation team, which ultimately resulted in the project being put on hold for the duration of that month. The data from prior checks had proven to be extremely helpful in gauging and predicting the present activity climate of the server; thereby allowing settlements to accurately plan and adjust various facets of their community in order to better improve their own activity. As a result, a team of stewards and I had decided to collect the activity data ourselves.

The main objective of this thread is to provide a study of these results, identifying and explaining correlations and anomalies in the data, as well as extrapolating additional information from them. A link to the interactive versions of each graph will also be provided, so that others may be able to use the data for their own purposes.

Random sampling was used to record data across each day, as it is far easier to undertake due to the daily time constraints of each of the individuals involved in this project. Ultimately any bias or anomalies in the data are reduced by averaging the values later on. With help from @perses @TJBMinecraft @CorniWhore , we have recorded over 300 checks across a period of 6 weeks in order to better refine the data that we collect.

At first glance, patterns in the server population may not be clear, but become extremely evident when presented on a graph.

Each increment on the horizontal axis represents one week, with each spike representing a day. It can now be seen that there is generally a downward trend across the week, with the lowest activity around Wednesday and Thursday. There is often a small increase in server activity during Friday, as more players become available leading up to the weekends.

Average Daily Activity

In order to be better gauge the activity of the server, it is better to be able to spot patterns for each day, allowing for finer analysis. From the mass of data collected, the average number of players online can be calculated for each interval hour. The result of the averaging produces a graph which presents the average activity across the server.

 * Note that between 3:00 to 4:00 GMT there is sadly a lack of figures as no data has ever been recorded during those intervals (as the team is composed of only GMTers and ESTers).

From this data it can be seen that the server reaches an average peak of around 130 players daily between 22:00 GMT and until at least 2:00 GMT (17:00 EST and 21:00 EST), which is consistent when considering that the majority of players are restricted by school hours. As such, server activity dips to a low at around 10:00 to 11:00 GMT, periods where the European and American playerbase are generally absent. 

In additionally, there are some noticeable increases in server population, between 13:00 and 15:00 GMT, and 19:00 and 21:00 GMT, of around 33 people for each occurrence. We have theorised that these periods of influx are a result of players from specific timezones becoming more active as school finishes. This is considering that school in europe tends to finish around the first occurrence (13:00 and 15:00 GMT) and schools on the American east coast tend to finish around the second occurrence (14:00 and 16:00 EST).

Demographics of the Server

Utilising the data we have for the average daily activity and by considering the prior hypothesis, we can separate the data into three periods, each representing a specific range of timezones (Asia and Oceania, Europe and Africa, and the Americas). From this, we are able to algorithmically project an estimate in terms of the numbers of players for each category.

The yellow trendline represents the number of players from Asia and Oceania, the green trendline represents the number of players from Europe and Africa, and the red trendline represents the number of players from the Americas.

Marked on the graph are the time periods where the player bases are least likely to overlap; therefore the figures that are within those periods are most likely to be the closest value in terms of the number of players from those locations.

Assuming that those from Asia and Oceania solely dominate the server between 8:00 and 9:00 GMT (16:00 AWST and 17:00 AWST), they would account for an average of 26.0 players daily.

Assuming that those from Europe and Africa dominate the activity between 15:00 GMT and 17:00 GMT, they would account for an average of 57.1 players daily.

Assuming that those from the Americas dominate the activity between 23:00 and 2:00 GMT (18:00 EST and 21:00 EST), they would account for an average of 130.0 players daily.

The estimate of the total average number of active players on this server, during any day in the month of October, would therefore be 213.1. With Asia and Oceania accounting for 12.2%, Europe and Africa accounting for 26.8%, and the Americas accounting for 61% of the server population.

Conclusion

In short, the data shows that the server is most active during the weekends and earlier in the week, and that the overall peak is around 0:00 GMT (19:00 EST) a period dominated by roughly 130 players based in the Americas. There are also independent peaks for each group of timezones at around 18:00 GMT for Europe and Africa (with around 57 players), and at around 10:00 GMT (18:00 AWST) for Asia and Oceania (with around 26 players).

The team suggests that other communities, whether it be settlements or nations, independently collect activity data. Doing so will allow them to compare their own activity with the server’s as a whole, as well as providing members with a better idea on how to go about improving activity.

In the data for our own settlement, we noticed a distribution of activity with two peaks (not shown). The earlier representing the peak from the GMT group of players, and the latter representing the peak from the EST group of players. This showed that activity was far too concentrated at those times, and therefore had to be dispersed across a wider period. Over a few weeks we were able to diminish the gap between the peaks, so that a constant stream of activity was present between them.

We hope that by using this information, individuals and groups may also be able to better organise events amongst their own communities or for the server as a whole. This should also serve as an example of how collaborative efforts among players in recording and analysing statistical information can be used to guide and support the development of settlements, nations, or the server in its entirety.

In regards to the stewardship team and I, we hope to continue to this project even after the map change, and any additions or changes will be actively reflected on the linked graphs.

As Daedalus overheard these faithless words, his face would boil up to a shade of blood red, his eyes cold and narrowed. He would draw in a single deep breath, before bursting into a heated rant, "How dare you question your father's judgement! How selfish can you be to deny it? For it is by his wisdom and by his choices that has allowed you to rejoice in the luxuries of nobility. After all, you wouldn't want to be a hypocrite, would you?..."

Daedalus Taitale would notice the same misuse of the term 'Prince-regent' as he read through the declaration, "They might as well declare a republic or a parliamentary constitution if any bugger can seize such a title of power!" He would exclaim as he broke out into boisterous laughter.

Ducal Road Est. 1608 

Located within the march of Ponzan, near the palace of Veldin, and proximate to acres of farmland and vineyards, the picturesque town is in an ideal location for trade and commerce amongst Courland and its allies. Castell offers a unique architectural design, that provides luxurious and spacious abodes for all residents, and places them within protection of reinforced walls.
 
The town provides access to an array of amenities, and opportunities to develop every profession. Its close proximity to the public farms, mines and woodlands, coupled with access to banks and auctions, makes it an extremely desirable location for all trades. In addition, citizens of the Duchy crowd around the square and market area, and watch the sundry amusements around the town such as jesters and musicians, or may wish to attend the frequent masses held at the Church of Castell.

Location

You can get to the strategically placed town by travelling east of the Courlandian capital of Aleksandria; or north from the Asul docks, past Fort Mark, the March of Seville and the Veldin palace; or by passing through the southern borders of the Sultanate of Haria. 

Governance

The Kingdom of Courland, and therefore the Duchy of Savinia, follow a system of feudal tenure. The town itself is a barony, under the administrative control of the baron, count, marqués and duke. Within the system of barony of Castell itself is a group of stewards, responsible for the management of the town and its residents. The position of steward is bestowed by the baron themselves, on whomever he discerns fit for such a role of responsibility.

Amelia Palaiologos will be deeply missed, and shall be succeeded in death: by her husband Romanos Palaiologos, GML, KTF, OE, Baron of Hagios Lothar; by her eldest son, Demetrios Palaiologos, now Marqués of Valencia; by her youngest son, Tobias Palaiologos; and by her daughter, Artemis Palaiologos.

Eagle's Rebellion Est. 1587

With a thunderous crash, the Empire splintered into a hundred pieces, brothers and sisters torn apart as petty squabbles turned into bloodshed. While standing amongst it all were two brothers, the founders of Savinia, their gaze lay upon crumbling stone - the product of their opposing allegiances - watching as the wind carried the cold dust over every blade of grass and leaf, watching as the showers of rain bled the sanguine stains deep into the dirt below. The brothers would find peace again, but not upon lands that shook their memories with the screams of pain and cries of terror, with that they parted ways. 
 
One would lay eyes upon the meadows of Veldin, a sea of fading green sprinkled with a cacophony of colours; blue orchids, red poppies, and tall alliums with their flamboyant purple petals, dancing along the cool beating of breeze from the Bay of Biscay. So upon the tumultuous aftermath of the Eagle’s Rebellion, and at the decree of the Royal Charter, the Barony of Savinia was granted a ducal seat on the eleventh of the Grand Harvest, 1598. 
 

Lay of the Lands

Apart from the natural beauty of its lands, the Duchy serves as a strong commercial and strategic base for the Kingdom of Courland. Located due east of the Courlandian capital, Aleksandria, and bordering the Sultanate of Haria, it provides the capital's only access to the sea of Axios. As such there are a vast number of opportunities for commerce as well as for those who aspire to serve the Duchy and the crown.

The Duchy itself is composed of various marches, the most important of which is the march of Ponzan, within which lies the town of Castell. A quaint settlement that provides the goods and services necessary for any entrepreneur or visionary to make their steps. A fort belonging to an infamous mercenary group, The Mark, lies within the march of Seville, along the southern borders of the Duchy. The Ducal seat is sandwiched between these two marches, an illustrious monument that paid respect to the beauties of the natural land.

Perched upon staggering cliffs, overlooking the bay to the east, lay the palace of Veldin; a product of grand opulence and polished tastes, its walls adorned with etched white stone which glisten in the summer sun, its floors a mixture of refined marble and ornate mahogany planks, and its dwellings the most extravagant of any in Axios are embellished in exotic vibrant murals. Built upon the old ruins of Vilachia, of the defunct Principality of the Dreadlands, and the mysterious artifact of Veldin - of which the ancient and prestigious Order of Veldin is sworn to protect - the palace stands as a monument to all cultures and heritages, to the protection of the Duchy, and to the crown of Courland.

The palace has over fifty rooms and halls, a central quadrangle and an enclosure which houses the barracks of the Savinian Brigade. Additionally, it is the home to the House of de Savin, and the ducal court, while also containing all the amenities available for budding apprentices who wish to gain experience within the palace grounds. 

Ducal Court

Members of the court are representatives of the Duchy and its people, given the responsibilities and powers to administer the Duchy on the Duke’s behalf; although any and all legal motions made must still be passed through the Duke, or regent if circumstances permit such an arrangement, who has the right to veto any decisions made. Although, members are not bound to the peerage of the Duchy, and are not limited to race or gender, each member is a specialist with extensive knowledge and experience in their relevant fields. 
 
Duke of Savinia
The highest hereditary title provided by the crown of Courland. One which is inequitably analogous to the patriarch of House de Savin, sovereign of the Duchy and protector of its people. The title therefore grants upon the bearer the full responsibility for the Duchy, its laws and its inhabitants, as well as high power regarding motions and actions carried for the Duchy.

High Chancellor
The most senior minister of the ducal court, apart from the Duke himself, whose position allows them to exercise the commands and wishes of the Duke; thereby acting on their behalf. This position may be elevated to regent in circumstances when the Duke is absent or unfit; thus granting the bearer powers and responsibilities equal as that of the Duke as to administer the Duchy on their behalf.

High Treasurer
Responsible for the ducal treasury, the bearer of this title is accountable for the management and acquirement of finances within the Duchy, whether it be monetary property, inventory or any other physical assets. The High Treasurer is not expected to have great wealth, but must be well versed in trade and productions, in order to carry physical duties if the circumstances see fit to do so.

High Scrivener
Tantamount to the role of a privy seal, the High Scrivener is responsible for the engenderment of official ducal documents for the Duke and the court. In addition to handling the creation of such documents, the bearer is also to maintain administrative records and those regarding peerage within the Duchy. As such, the High Scrivener is expected to be experienced and well equipped in both the capacity to indite and interpret.

High Mage
The High Mage of Savinia is responsible for the administration of magical affairs within the Duchy’s territory. In order to carry out such duties, the bearer is expected to have a irrefutable wealth of magical knowledge and experience. Such a position will also be responsible for the wellbeing of the ducal family.
