  1. So that's three votes for Stormgiant Pass (which may or may not have stormgiants), and only one for the glacier. We do. Well, that was...helpful. Seriously, I thought it was meant to have improved when we got the Sommerswerd, not had its power reduced! Random numbers, woohoo. 6. Uh oh... What should we do?
  2. Nice work with that map! I was too lazy to get round to it, but it demonstrates the route much more clearly than the book, let alone my description.
  3. Well, it looks like we're going with Lucas' choice after all. We gain a new discipline: Camouflage We gain a Padded Leather Waistcoat (+2E) We gain a Potion of Laumspur (+4E) So we've had our usual luck with ships, I see. Seriously, our first ship sank on us (on the way to Port Bax), our second sank (on the way back), our third was one of the few remains of the fleet our second was a flagship of, and now our fourth has been hit by a blizzard and driven miles off course. Still, we can now go one of two routes. The map and text really explains it better than I can, so I'll just ask which way we should go.
  4. So, we get a new map. I'll replace the old map as we don't need it any more (the books will always give you a map of the appropriate area, to account for new players who haven't played the older books). Here's the map: By the way, if you want to eg bookmark it for easy viewing, here's a link to the image itself. Other than that, we get 16GC, but we can't carry any of it. We need to choose two items from the list. Obviously, we'll need to drop one of our weapons if we choose a weapon, but other than that, we should be ok for inventory. Also, bear in mind that as the map says 'The Icy Wastes of Kalte', we may not be able to use hunting there. (I can't actually remember if you can or not, it was a while ago that I played this one). And the obligatory Kai Wisdom: So, we need to choose a new discipline, and two pieces of equipment, and then we can start. That was quite a quick start of the book, compared with some. Probably as we've already got a mostly-made character.
  5. And on with book 3! Starting, as always, with The Story So Far: Ok, so NOW we get to fight Vonotar! Well, hopefully. Now, we need to choose a new Kai Discipline. Now for equipment. Ok, image limit per post's kicked in. I'll have to carry on below. Also, whoever drew that 'warhammer' needs an explanation on what a warhammer looks like!
  6. Ok, let's attack the wizard! He has no chance of escaping, surely? Stupid plot device. Well, we lost Vonotar, but then again, we've managed to keep at least some of the fleet afloat. 350! But that means... We win book 2!!! Expect the first section of TCoK later today.
  7. Ok. Let's attack the wizard! Erm, guys? Are you sure the book wasn't offering the sea route as a 'get out of here, you fool' option? Nah, of course it wasn't. Why would it do that? Anyway, do we chase the wizard that may be plot protected, or try to get back to our fleet? Also, notice that neither of these options lead to 267!

  9. Yay, more rampant destruction from the Sommerswerd! We also have a Crystal Star Pendant. A footnote explains that we got that information from a combination of Sixth Sense and meeting Banedon. Do we attack Vonotar, or swim? I also see a peculiar similarity between these choices and the last few.
  10. Yay, double damage dealt. This shouldn't be too hard, even if they are immune to Mindblast. CR = 24 - 13 = 11 Our E total = 21/21 Zombie Crew's E total = 16/16 Yes, we've hit the rightmost column on the combat results table. In other words, we've hit the cap for CR for this fight at least. Round 1 Random number = 8 We take no damage = 21/21 Zombie Crew dies instantly = DEAD! Our E total = 21/21 Well, that was easy. I have a feeling that was more of a 'hey, you have a powerful enchanted sword, see how powerful you are' fight, though. We lose 1E = 20/21 We have Sixth Sense. H+1 21/21 Erm. I can't help but remember what happened last time we were forced to fight an evil creature of some considerable power. We do have the Sommerswerd now, hough What was that about no helghasts? CR = 24 - 22 = 2 Our E total = 21/21 Wounded Helghast's E total = 20/20 Round 1 Random number = 0 We take no damage = 21/21 Wounded Helghast takes 12*2 = 24 damage = DEAD! I assure you, those last few rolls were 100% legit. By the way, we'd have had to fight a helghast whatever happened, and this was the weakest. Nasty. Anyway, are we investigating the mysterious tower on the flagship of the evil fleet, or swimming away after all?
  11. To confirm what Lucas said: the more people we have playing, the better this'll be, so join away! That also applies to anyone else who happens to read this. Ok, let's be sensible for once and not attack the guards. Or just, you know, a dream? Anyway, we have Hunting, so we inexplicably don't have to eat a meal. Ok. Could we get on to the 'receiving the massively overpowered weapon' part, please? Thank you. Also, what is Sixth Sense doing here? We have it, anyway. We get the Sommerswerd!!! There's also an accompanying footnote, incidentally. Not all that significant to us at this stage, but it's useful to know. We get a Potent Laumspur Potion. Remember, you can add to drink it to any vote, or to drink it in certain conditions, etc. For now, I'll drink it automatically if we're reduced to 5E or less in a fight, in case we die before getting another choice. Unless anyone has any objections? Ooh, upgraded discipline! Great. Another random number pick. This section's full of choices, isn't it? 9. That sounds ominous. Ok, decision time! Jump onto the enemy flagship, or run swim away?
  12. Well, that seemed to go fairly well. Well, I have to remember what happened last time we attacked a knight like this...Then again, you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Do we attack them?
  13. Run away! Wait, 134? Wasn't that the other option a minute ago? Uh oh. Really thinking a magic spear would have been nice, here. Yeah, erm, we died? Just like that? Ok... -1 maximum E (21/21) +1 deaths (2) Ok, so the magic spear was all the way back at the junction, after we ran away from that town and before we entered the guard tower. It's also impossible to get through here without the spear or animal kinship. This is the only time something like this happens in the series, iirc, but for now...we get a Magic Spear, and ask no further questions about it. We have a Magic Spear! So, what do we do with our completely legit spear?
  14. Hi Lucas! Good to have you back. We have Sixth Sense! So, Sixth Sense is also Sense Evil. Shame it didn't work on that Vordak back in Book 1, or the Helghast in the inn, or that guy claiming to be the first mate, etc. The real question is, having Sensed Evil, what do we do with this information?

That pick was another falling mast, I'm afraid, and 9 would have killed us. I think this one's possible to avoid if you're lucky, to be fair. We don't have a Magic Spear. Maybe we should have got one at some point. Hey, a choice! Well, having made about a third of our journey between choices, do we follow the rat or not?

Well, that went fairly well. We gain a red pass Yes, we have a red pass. Well, this is where the ship was meant to take us... On another note, wow this is a long wall of text. So long, in fact, that I need to split the post into two or it won't let me post.
  19. Ok, so we have the choice of a random white pass, or a red pass which we've recieved instructions to take. We're also looking for a pass for the red gate. I think I can guess what we're going for, but just in case...does anyone want to get a white pass, or leave? Also, is it just me, or are the passes for this city a bit...simple? Rather than, say, calling them Gate Pass, Merchant's Pass, Inner City Pass, Get Out of Jail Free Card, etc, they give them random colours. Still, there we are.
  20. Hiebe, remember that the red gate (246) is where we use the red passes, not where we get them. We get them from the watchtower. Of course, I'm not trying to guide you, we can still go over there without going to the watchtower, but I want to be clear you voted for what you meant to vote for.

Yeah, the fact that we came into this building, right by the main gate, and asked for directions to what is both a well known location and the place where someone from Sommerlund (Durenor's main ally) would be likely to go first, should have given you a few hints too. Yeah, I'm guessing we're going into the port watchtower to collect our red passes?

  25. What do you vote we take from the tower, Cows? I'll take the gold, food, and potion as given unless someone objects for some reason, but we can only have 2 weapons at a time.
