  1. I have to ask, what is the legitimate point of this creature? It can't speak and cant really do much past stand there and maybe be a living statue. So literally eye candy.

Please, tell me what these are actually useful for? Give me an example of how these things can bring RP, because I have never heard of or seen one until this thread.

This is quite literaly a type of non violent creature. If I can say it the best way, this creature is the only creature that is completely non violent, which can lead to situations where characters can start to make choises that they wouldn't have before. Even thought it's a creature that is completely made of mud, and the characters would, with a lot of experience, think it evil and dangerous, come to find it out to be a harmless creature which can't defend herself.

This can, and has, created discord between characters that find the creature, some willing to attack her as soon as she is seen, and others protecting it because of her peaceful looks and because she did nothing wrong. For others it is a turist attraction, for others can turn out to be a friend, for others an offence against nature, for others a weird creature to experiment on.

For the mud maiden itself, the interractions may lead her to make friends, be afraid, travel places looking for safety, make friends, find something she enjoys doing, gain fears and dislikes, and gain excitement and hobbies. It would be a mute character with special characteristics which make her interract with other characters a bit differently.

Personally I don't think she needs to be in the server, we're already overly bloated with lore as is. I understand its an expansion of something else, but Idon't think we need its base nor the expansion.

I'm one for quiet rp but I honestly, I dont find the appeal to her. I'd find a normal player being mute more interesting than a mud-girl.

  3. Can we bring him in please? Like really? The most recent opinions were literally the same messy medieval crap we've been seeing for ages, and this has a nice, clean, compact feel to me. I don't care if he's a buttface, he's a good builder.

No offense, but we need some real fresh blood in the team. Zarsies can't be doing all the cool stuff.

  4. So you're saying that everyone else that spent countless hours of their time didn't love what they were doing as well? Because thing is, being a nation leader is just as crap as being staff. Its also like herding cats, cats who have lazer beams pointed to destroy everything you have spent hours, days, months of work on. Managing people, approving things, having do deal with the drama of riots, uprisings, people just giving you crap for crap sake.

Daki is a very perfect example of what being a nation leader can do to a person. He would get up, after a scant few hours of sleep after working double shifts to deal with LOTC drama. His health suffered dramatically dealing with being a nation leader. Mogroka's health suffered, he would constantly fall asleep in TS and be so exhausted he could only babble incoherently before literally passing out on his desk. Hell, I was driven to tears the handful of times I attempted to lead a group. What about Native? He was driven to stress and couldn't even pursue things he wanted in life because he was too busy trying to lead malinor.

These are just the people I personally knew that had to deal with it as well. I've had second hand accounts of other nation leaders breaking themselves trying to keep crap together. And they dont get GM powers. They dont get a hammer to loom over people and say 'stop it, or else' as their hard earned work falls apat under them.

They didn't get any RP either. When Kais stepped up to be leader of oren, he completely vanished from the RP scene, I never saw lick of him up until he stepped back down. The same has happened as he's gone up to be FM and now GM.

I'm not saying you dont deserve recognition, what I'm saying is you don't deserve the only recognition. I'm not sorry to say it but, a lot of non-staff have done a hella lot more for this server than any GM I have ever witnessed since launch to this very day.

But once again, that's just my opinion on the matter.

  5. Quity dont' be a butt. Its true. I'm saying what I've done because that's what I know for sure. Countless others have done a hella lot more than me. Look at Xerdun, if that's even the right name my memory is horrid. He created an entire new race, And has by far been the only one to ever succeed that in LOTC's history. Where's his statue? He was never staff or anything, just a another player, but he reshaped this server like nobody did or ever has since. There was some other fellow, again im terrible with names, but he created a forth nation between oren and krugmar, arlas, which was the very first successful mixed race nation that pushed the very first line of 'you don't need to be part of a racial capital for rp'. What about all of the undead? They literally shaped this server's lore and how it came to be. Do they get a graveyard? Do they get a statue and fancy floating text?

What about Timelord and Zarsies? They're not GMs but they sure as hell sculpted the majority of everything that was ever pretty on this server, at least in my opinion. What about the druids? They've been a big influence on how the server has been shaped, theyve always been a huge presence. Where's their graveyard? Where's their commendation for the hundreds of groves and pretty places to rp that they have sculpted over the years?

How about the Flays? Yeah we all hate them, but the thing is a lot of the defenses and ways we build our cities comes from defending against them. What about whats his face, the guy who starmarked 'messy midevil' and basically reshaped how 90% of settlements on this server are built and designed?

The GMs barely do their jobs sometimes, but they get a statue? Yeah I get its probably really silly to seem all up in arms about some pixelized, ham-fisted gesture of a thank you to a staff team. But cant people actually saying thank you be good enough? Because to me, they havnt done even a fraction as much as the players themselves have done, the community has done. I dunno, I guess that's why it feels like ego stroking to me, because to me, it feels like a way of saying 'Oh you were staff at one point in time youre speshul'

But hey, that's just my 2 cents.

  6. There really is no ego stroking involved, every single one of our former staff truly deserve recognition for having helped shape LotC into the monolith it is today. An in-game reminder of their work is just a cute little nod to their dedication, and on the topic of event areas–that'd be neat but that's on the ET managers to start implementing.

No.. no it really is ego stroking. Staff do help shape LOTC, and so do donators. But I'm still asking myself "Okay and?" I helped build three entire nations, multiple cities, and helped with multiple lore points. Didn't that help shape the server? What about people who write significant amounts of lore, or create the map? What about the entire playerbase, who if they weren't here, neither would the server?

Not to mention a lot of staff were more detrimental to the server than shaping it, or simply existent within it. or that no mention of what they actually DID is there either. Its just a jumble of names that really didn't do jackall for the server, just a notice of 'oh, they were a gm'. I'm sorry if it seems really rude or mean or crass but.. that isn't that special in my opinion.

  7. Oh... a post about it, huh.

I think the statues need a better design as well, I don't really like them.

I still don't understand why we need a GM graveyard. Just something that never made sense to me.

We don't need it, but we don't not need it either, it doesn't hurt to have it.

I'd rather have them building cool shizzle for people to actually do events in, instead of a glorified ego stroker.

  8. hated nexus regions the first time, gonna hate it again. Just use worldguard and have staff pay attention like they have been. Simple stuff that ain't broken don't needa be 'fixed'.

Deco, please read the post, I know you can do that. Territories is not anything remotely close to Nexus-Regions, and nothing is being fixed, only added. :)

I did read the post, and to my perspective, it is basically modded nexus, which we don't need. Things are literally fine as they are,and I think the talent and time of our coders can be devoted elsewhere. Yes, it sounds pretty cool. Yes, it's probably very well designed. Yes, it might be useful. But based on the original post which I have read, and by its own admittance, this plugin is very similar to nexus but with some minor differences. It's basically tweaked Nexus. The vast majority didn't like nexus, and we removed it for a reason.

The charter system works, its fine.

  9. All throughout the various cities and towns, a simple bit of parchment has been hung. the text upon it is simple, clean, and overall unremarkable. One would easily overlook the posting, save for its pinnet, a large, blazingly red dahlia flower.

As of late, my herd has grown far to large for me to care for. Thus, I have decided to sell off surplus mares and gelded yearlings. Each equine in my herd is of good stock, fit and strong with strong legs and wonderful conformation, sure to please all from the common cart-driver to the most scrutinizing of equine enthusiasts

Dependent on the desired mount, prices will range from five hundred mina, to one thousand. Bartering is plausible as well for those who do not carry monetary wealth.

Should you wish to purchase one, send a bird to Tuiru D'laronge, or request her at the gates of the mali'ker city of Vivec. All purchases are final and contract bound.

  10. I 100% agree they should've acted much faster, but perhaps they're also taking this time to talk about how to deal with the problems VA's were meant to stop. Their next post will most likely not only include the removal of VA's but also a promise made that people who are a problem will be dealt with (And hopefully an apology for putting VA's back on the server.)

There's really not anything to talk about or discuss, and milling it over will just cause more unrest and distrust to brood and fester. When you have a boil, you lance it, you do not wait for it to grow larger and explode in a disgusting mess. The best thing to do would simply remove the VAs for now, acknowledging that this was a mistake. The community more than likely would be more saited if the staff admits they are human and are susceptible to human error. You can't be forgiven until you admit you were wrong.

Or rather, you cannot be forgiven until you acknowledge you made a mistake. Most, if not all of us, know that it was an attempt to make the server better. We're simply saying THIS is not the right way to go. It's been stated time and time again its not going to. And Native, both you and I were here for the start of the server. You and I both know how good it was, how good it can be without them.

Both of us know that back then, the staff team was deeply in touch with the community. I still remember when you and I would talk about that amazing bathrobe of yours or have stupid conversations about coffee. I remember being roleplayed with for my tickets when Respiren was a GM. Yes I know he was a total butt, but when I was new to the server, and that was my first modreq, that impressed me. That cemented my love for this server. That is why I keep coming back even as this spirals to the ground.

The staff needs to step back down to the level we are, and realize while they have the abilities of admins, GMs, and what have you, they are still players. If they move from our perspective, they'll be able to better realize what the server needs, because they will be part of the community mindset and be able to see from our point of view, the problems hindering the server.

  11. I do not think the staff is addressing the issue correctly, I do not see the need for VA’s

I honestly do not know about MAs as I haven't seen a magic user yet.

What I think the server requires is toughness from the staff team.

You  are facing a decline in quality roleplay because the server seems to allow the following.

    • Trolls to be exact Toxic trolls - People that have nothing better to do but log in to the server to troll and pvp they do not provide any sort of decent roleplay.

    • Memers I do not understand this new concept honestly but the staff said no to it but I still see it ingame and I do not see the staff banning people for it.

    • The requirement of hard evidence to ban alts - we used to ban on suspicion or knowing via ts or wtv method..

    • Fear of lash back because of banning trolls

    • Fear of being targeted by DDOSS

The solution is simple BAN ban ban.

If you want to have quality roleplay ban the toxic trolls, perhaps you won't ban all of them but.

There are specific people in certain groups that if you ban them you cut off the head of the snake.

I do not understand the staff fear of lash back since the staff used to ban leaders of groups for the action of their members.

I shall give the example of both Mirtok and Coaster while none of the two are trolls or toxic. And wether I agree with there bans or not, they still got banned for the actions of people in there group that were toxic to the community.

The staff needs to become tough and start banning people you do not require VA’s it won't even solve anything. You require the trolls fearing to be banned so they shape up their act.

If I was a staff member I would not stand for people trolling in roleplay I would first message the trolls and if they continue they would receive a ban nor would I care about the repercussions.

The toxic trolls are widely known to the staff members, use lbchat or follow them ingame take screens over the toxic behavior and ban them its simple.

I agree with everything right here, so I'll use this to cut out most of my post will saying platypus.

By the way, having a little requirement in your post, its a little condescending. Please don't do this, I'm honestly not trying to sound rude, but as soon as I read that little line, my face just scrunched up, and my first thought was "Did this waffle-licker just do what i think he did..?" And completely derailed the actual seriousness of the decently thought out post you had made.

But seriously, the staff just needs to stand up and be staff. Making more applications isn't going to solve these problems. Removing the actual problem gets rid of the problem. You don't put a bandage on a rotten limb, you amputate it.

The vast majority of the server has told the staff this isn't going to work. And please, look at the history of the server and learn from it. It did not help ANYTHING back in the day. It never will. The oldest of players who have been here from the start remember that it started without VAs, and it was good. Staff banned people when they did toxic things. I remember way back in aegis I started being a right ***** to someone and I was banned for like 5 hours or somethign, cant even remember. I needed that, and I deserved it.

We donate tons of money all the time, I see plenty of bedrock donater and aether, I know there is more than enough money for hosting and protection. Stop being afraid of the trolls and just ban them.

Please, operate as actual staff members. I've experienced real staff, I have been staff in other games. This is not how game moderators, admins, DMs, or developers should act. Please realize that even though you did volunteer for this, and we respect and praise you for it, that you need to actually act like the position you hold.
