  3. This just doesn't work. The players on the server have proven time and time again that they're perfectly fine with raiding someone constantly and repeatedly. Back when the Conclave was a thing, they were raided nearly 3, 4 times a day, unto the point where RP was impossible because of people who wanted to get their kicks stomping on the other kid's sandcastle, so to speak.

Bullying a player until they leave is not what cooperative roleplay censored.gifing means. If a person can successfully ward off a raid, The raids don't stop. They will keep coming, again and again and again, as many times as they please, because, unfortunately for some, that is all they want to do on LOTC. The only incentive that beating off a raid provides is making them want to do it again with more men at a more opportune time.

The sad, but true fact about raiders is that the only well-documented methods to get a raider to stop raiding is to either do some very BP-raising OOC bitching until the raiders are sick of you, or to complain to the staff until they impose a raid limit. Neither is really a preferable solution for anyone. Ever.

People are already getting bullied out of where they roleplayed right now. I honestly cant play Kroga with the constant raiding and pvp going on. Just no fun.

  4. This just seems like another one of those things that would be roleplayed once or twice, then just forgotten about and left to clog up LoTC's already overflowing lore folder. I haven't read it fully so I can't say whether or not its a bad idea, but any of these ideas at the moment is sour for me.

    A mix of this^

And the fact that its a glorified Kelpie.

  5. What amuses me is the claim that teenagers are all trolly when more often than not the annoyances I encounter are closer to my age group..

It might just be because its 4am and I have a fever so I cant coherently form what Im wanting to say. But people seriously need to do things other than LOTC here and there, and let themselves be killed a bit more so they learn to give up over obsessing. When you finally realize its pointless to howl and dig in your claws like a cornered animal, and just give in and accept the inevitable loss that will (not can, /will/) come, it becomes so much easier to just chill and enjoy it.

  6. +1,

How about we just ban Oren?

How about we remember that its the actions of individuals and not an entire group causing a problem. Having to deal with one brat on an airplane does not mean we should neuter the entire spanse of humanity.

    But honestly I'm disappointed in many of the people that took place in the event, screaming the things they did. Especially because were I took up residence is right beside the spawn. Just a handful of days ago I brought three friends to this server, and when i asked what they thought of the event?;

    'Really stupid.'

'I thought it was medieval fantasy..'

    'That was an event?'

    'It wasn't very fun'

'The spam was annoying, I just logged off.'

I came back to this server because it was a major source of enjoyment for me all this time, and I brought people hoping they would get the same sense of enjoyment I do. So far, they've been severely disappointed, and my own disappointment is steadily growing.

Also FYI. All four of us are Orenites.

  7. Sadly I'm going to have to come forward and give this a -1. In the time that I knew him, Sinlessprism had a short temper, was overly aggressive, and often harassed other members of the community. There is also the heavy case of his actions against others of my gender in another game we visited in the past. I will not speak of these events publicly, but if any of the reviewing team would wish to know the details of these transgressions I can easily be contacted.

I dont see what the huge issue is. We don't need ET, but we don't not need them either. Its a neutral sort of situation that has no major loss or benifit either way.

Event Team is useful for larger events, especially those that involve any large scale destruction or anythign that will heavily effect the world. Plot-device events and the like.

However, you don't need them for every little thing. There's this awesome new thing brought into play now, the nameless emote. Just pop in [!] before your emote and boom, you have an area effect emote. You can host your own minor events, like for a small hunt, describing the smell of what your character is cooking, roleplaying an animal, or what have you.

Just obey the rules and go derp about. If its too big for you yourself, call an ET.

  9. Come on over and spam my herd with them. There's plenty of test subjects who haven't been fed anything or been bred since the 14th of this month. Get yourself all the data you need.

Also, sorry if I'm complaining. But thing is, other people with professions have complained. You satisfy them with the promise of plugins to come. Promises of Skills and Magic and Shops. You promise ways to regulate those things, and they wait. There are still complaints now and again.

Besides, did you really expect us NOT to complain when the plugin isn't working? Really? You expect people to just accept something whole heatedly when there's glitching and when it does mess up the real hardcore breeders? Some of us don't settle. I'm low on weapons and armor because I don't make them, i find a blacksmith. I don't farm my own food, I buy it from farmers. I have a very tiny little patch that is rarely, if ever, harvested only when I'm rping gathering herbs for my medicinal oils and poisons. I don't chop my own wood, i don't mine my own stone, I don't smelt my own iron. I pay and rp with others to get the materials.

Really, the only dependance I've had on GMs, is lockpicking, naming, and I've only had to breed three times. I've listened to GMs talk. I listed closely when Mogroka was still here, I listen now while Sky is here. Since Aegis, the big brunt of modreqs is regioning, and lockpicking. Now more recently, naming things. If you watched Ever's streams, you see the same theme as well. Its mostly regioning and lockpicking and naming. When fast travel was down, modreqs asking for teleports to the wilds came up. Here and there the odd tent sale is asked for. Really that would be fixed when Shops is done and an admin tent shop can be made, or by finishing that particular plugin to make it less derpy if it hasn't been already. Chair plugin is back, which is nice. But you fall through the blocks after awhile of sitting in it.

Breeding had some human errors, yes. I will not deny that. Errors exist, in humans and in machine and in coding. But the system Sky was working on would have given consistency to the GM team. It would have been a little messy getting it started, but once it was in place it would have been fine.

So yes, I'm adamant in it. I applaud your effort, you and the other coders have done a lot to change the server for the better. You've added so many little cute tweaks that make it more immerse and fun. But this isn't one of them, and I don't have any faith or trust in this plugin's use, sorry. I'd much rather see your skills applied to finishing Magic and Shops.

  10. Or even making it stay at 1 breeding every 2 weeks, with the NORMAL MC mechanics? *idea?*

Yeah but ya can't regulate that. I know GMs wanna trust the players, but we really can't trust them. Players time and time again have proven if they are given something to exploit, they will. GG human nature. :I

Edit: I forgot. There's one modreq I make a LOT now, and that's to melt items back down to original components. It'd be nice to shove things we don't need into a forge and melt them back down into a few ingots. Then I don't have to wait with the blacksmith I find actually willing to do it, he can do it himself.

  11. Okay, guess that'll be my new thing to learn today. But the point was that it is how Minecraft AI works, and therefore I ask for your understanding in working with it.

Trust me there's a lot more I can teach you, darling. And the point is, Minecraft AI works fine in other cases. Not to stomp on the coding, but its the coding that's futtering around with it. The old system, if modified, would be fine. Plus, the time spent working to fix Horses, could be used to finish Magic, Shops, and Skills. Heck we could produce Lockpicking and a way to Name items and animals ourselves, that would be nice. Right there is the bulk of the modreqs I make myself.

  12. Real breeders don't breed their horses in the middle of the flock anyway, so that works out.

Actually, there is something called pasture breeding. Its an old fashioned tactic where an in-season mare is let out with the chosen stallion. There are breeders who wish to mimic more natural procession, and do this tactic. Sometimes, multiple in season mares are let into the field, because this mimics closer to the how the wild horses are. A lot of horsemen enjoy this, myself included, because it feels a bit more like letting nature still be in charge. That's how one of my horses, Buddy Boy, was conceived.

There's a lot more to breeding horses than one would think.

  13. I'm saying the opposite, in fact.

Doing horse RP for the sake of horse RP is great, and I honestly don't see how this change is going to affect you aside from giving you more competition. People will still come to you to RP. In fact, the addition of other breeders will give players who just want to treat you like a merchant NPC somewhere else to go.

However, the former system was anything but fine. It was a tedious system highly prone to human error and exploitation. It left players hanging while they waited for a GM to answer their modreq to breed every two weeks. Many breeders in fact did not even role-play it, just modreqed and threw a bunch of golden carrots at a GM until they bred the horses for them. It let players work together to exploit the system by moving horses between stables to breed far more often than they were allowed. It made horses become rarer than I think they should have been, perpetuating many more problems like horses disappearing on logout and horse thefts/murders.

The former system was anything but ideal and didn't even encourage good horse RP outside of "build a good-looking and reasonably adequate stable set up for the GM to look at". In no way does this new system discourage you from providing good role-play, and I personally want to see you continue it. Your horse RP is excellent and I would hate to see it ended because of a change in the system.

The fact is, the amount of people that came to any stable, not just mine, declined more and more as the horse bubble began to pop. Now that anyone can breed, people can pretty much breed another person's horse and walk off with a foal if they have the gold to throw out. I have had so much gold i use blocks to make golden apples for the simple reason that I can.

As for the human error and exploitation. Yes, that's replaced with technical errors and the chance of breaking now. Humans were better in the previous system. One that with very little tweaking, could be fixed up. Yes, it would be hard at first, but it pays off in the fact it would smooth out wonderfully after it had settled. There would be more chance for people to gain a stable.

Yes people didn't really RP breeding the horses. I know I did, I would ask for specific clones of horses when i was doing very intent breeding. I worked to develop breeds in rp to fit roleplay niches for people. Yeah, i can still do that. But I have far less opportunity to do so.

Yes, I can continue what I was doing with a fair amount of ease, there really is no competition for me whatsoever, with this system or without. I have a surplus of everything. My stable is borderline mary-sue because I pretty much have no challenge. I actually want competition, real competition. I want to have to really go head to head with a challenging breeder. I want to be annoyed that someone is better than me. I want to be frustrated that someone is more skilled than I am at a craft and strive to surpass them.

There are nearly fifty horses sitting in my stable with no owners. Fifty chances for a person to RP with. Fifty chances for someone to compete with me. Fifty chances eliminated because someone can't spend a minute or so right clicking a spawn egg.

I could go around, gather up a raid party to go out and rip apart other stables. I could forcibly tear away what newer players have. I could shred them with relative ease by pulling a few strings. But i don't want other players to experience constant heavy loss so i can stimulate something. I don't want to have to butcher people's horses so that maybe they'll come around to by another at my or another person's stable.

I want to be selfish and roleplay, sorreh.

  14. @Sporadic I don't want other players to run out of money instantly. I already have more than enough gold because I would send out the stablehands to farm it for me from leaves and mobs in the wild. They used that as a medium to pay off a horse they couldn't afford with mina. Or they would basically sit there and talk to me, and I rewarded them playing with me a few hours with a horse.

@Cappy.. Your post, boiled down from my perspective, comes down to “being passionate about something you care about is bad”. Why shouldn't I care about other roleplayers? They're part of this server just like me. What I do with my stable could and should affect others. Who I sell to affects them. Who i refuse to sell to affects them. What affects them affects their friends. My rp with one dwarf selling him a horse led to him bringing his three friends to rp with me and buy. My rp with Khel led to his clan coming to rp with me on their own. None of Khel's clan has paid for a horse in anything but more RP.

I kind of like the compromise, but that really doesn't do much to change the way the system is being done. The system is the problem. I applaud coders, they put in a lot of effort to learn how to make these plugins. I like that you're trying to make it so that there's less use of GMs. But the old system was working just fine. It didn't need any real alteration except small restrictions to make it more RP. This is supposed to be a roleplay server. People came here not for the minecraft, but for the roleplay. I keep coming back to LOTC because of the roleplay. In LOTC, the world changes and shift. You don't really get that in WoW or Mabinogi or Vindictus, or any other traditional game. I picked LOTC because its medium allows me to visually affect the world around me. If I didn't care about the visual representation there's thousands of heavy hardcore rp forums I can migrate to.

i want to be able to say I was successful because I worked hard at running a stable. I want to have people come to me not for a horse, but for roleplay. I want to sit there and have a chat with someone about a purchase as I cook a snack for them. I want to get to know other people's characters, I use selling them a perfect horse for them and them alone as that medium. I don't want a chestful of carrots when I can get that with a few days of zoned out clicking as I watch TV on the side. I can tell my grinder slave friends to go do it alongside me, and fill up chest after chest of pretty much any material.

I don't want mina, I don't want items. I want people to come roleplay. I don't want to have to break another character to try and desperately claw for some. I don't want to have to make another character to try and shoehorn my way into another niche like I have been again and again and again, trying to adapt to a broken system. I'm staying selfish for the sake of making effort, my effort and that of others, something actually valid again.
