  1. As the two kings spruiked the terms of the new "biumvirate" to the Galahar populace, Pontus pondered the magnitude of this decision. Could power be divided between two men in a single kingdom? On one hand, the Pheonix Faction could be considered the true continuation of the Kingdom of Oren, having leaders and institutions that served and existed in the old kingdom. However, gaining their power through rebellion made their reign seem illegitimate. Gaius and the Realm of Hanseti, on the other hand, could be considered the true continuation of Oren's kings; having received his title from the former king, Enor. Many people opposed his reign, though, citing his actions against Old Oren as their reason. Pontus took his leave from the town and sat down beside a monument between Galahar and New Terriko. Tapping a rhythmic tune on his helmet, he thought through each point of the agreement and came to a quick conclusion; the first and fourth terms would be broken. In a town like Galahar, fresh from rebellion, die-hard demagogues and jacobins would be rife throughout it; yelping radicalist sermons to the crowds. One sided debates would reign supreme. Having a policy of neutrality seemed impossible. Both sides had strong ties with opposing forces in the latest war. If conflict broke out again, it would only be a matter of time before either faction joined in, out of honour, passion or simple spite. Having felt it was time to end his short exile, Pontus pulled himself from the monuments sandy base and walked back into the streets of Galahar. One thought occupied his thoughts during his trek: When Gaius returned to Konigsberg, would Tarus and his cohorts abide by the terms when Gaius wasn't watching? Would war break out again? Deep in thought, Pontus walked straight into a signpost and, out of suprise, it felled him like an oak. Grumbling and damning the terrible vison his iron helm gave him, he examined the sign. Though having poor reading skills, Pontus could still make out its lettering; that of directions to the Teutonic capital, Konigsberg. In the end, everyone would have to take sides. Pontus looked back at Galahar, then again towards the signpost. Why did nationalism have to be so damn hard?
  2. ((C'mon guys. This is about RPing our hate/love/fear of Gaius' ascension, not to argue OOC. I'm sure he'll be very disappointed with us. Especially after writing that big RP at the start of this.))
  3. Sitting on the lip of a bubbling Galahar fountain, Pontus listened to Gaius' speech unmoved. He arched his neck and eyed the new king coldly through the slits of his iron helmet. Observing the citizens disbelief, awe, and joy, he lowered his head once more and stared at the pavement. Gaius had already conquered the hearts of the Oren masses, but how long could he keep hold of their minds as well? Oren was less of a nation and more of a scared, bleeding octopus; an almost uncontrollable mass of independant tendrils and conflicting thoughts. They were also forgetful. Gaius had attacked Oren in the past, could he be trusted with the throne, regardless of whether his past actions were justified, or not? He looked up from the pavement at the crowd gathering around King Gaius and murmured underneath his helm; "Desperate times." Pontus slowly picked himself up and walked down the cobbled road to the entrance of Galahar. He would let them celebrate without his cynicism, for he knew how this new reign would end. Because above all other things, the people of Oren were fickle.

  5. Thanks! I won't go to the base until I get the A-OK from Arbrek, just in case. :)
  6. MC-name: Mithradites Roleplay Name: Pontus Mithra General Area/Timezone: Australian eastern standard time (GMT+10h. I've been known to stay up very late, though!) Screenshot of Skin: http://s1179.photobucket.com/albums/x390/Mithradites/?action=view&current=Mineskin.png (Sorry if it's small :() Character Bio (Must be at least 5+ sentences): Since he rain away from his abusive father when he was 15, Pontus wandered the wilds. After many years of adventuring he began to yearn for human contact and so joined a fledgeling kingdom in the north. For years he served the King, Estellan, until the mysterious disapearance of much of the capitals citzenry. Feeling that he had failed in his duty to defend the people of Sjavilli, he resigned from his position and returned to the wilds. Sadly, his taste for company was insatiable and he travelled to Al'Khazar to live and make his fortune. However, he didn't notice the poisonous air within the city until it was too late. He ran from the ruined metropolis coughing, spluttering and temporarily delusional. Somehow he made his way to Galaha and made a fool of himself; laughing at halucinations, stalking random women and calling them "Catherine" while blaming them for the voices in his head, and making death threats to "the man who stole the sun." After he finally came to his senses, and realised what he had done, he decided to join a knightly order to regain his honour, put some money in his pocket, and to track down the fiend who stole the sun. Any special skills you possess: I'm fairly proficient with the sword (lvl 32) and the pick (lvl 31). I have a little experience with bows, cooking, and blacksmithing, but my talents do not lie there. Screenshots of MC creations: http://s1179.photobucket.com/albums/x390/Mithradites/?action=view&current=eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.png Roleplaying experience: I used to be a "Huscarl" for the Kingdom of Sjavilli, so I know how to shout down annoying peons and plebs. I'm hoping that counts as experience :P. Other Guilds you are member of: None to speak of.
  7. ((Hello all! If you don't remember me, my name is Pontus Mithra/IGN: Mithradites! I've been away for several weeks due to some nasty medical nonsense. I was made a "Huscarl" by Estellan and I just wanted to know what has been going on kingdom-wise while I was away! Do we still exist? I can't use my iron sword anymore and there are some nasty fire-things jumping about, so I will presume we are on 1.0 now :P ))

I have played RPGs and games like Dungeons and Dragons before but I am yet to try it on a multiplayer medium. -What do you expect this server will be like?: Fabulous. I can’t wait to look at all the gorgeous architecture. The forums show an interesting community as well and I’ll be interested in seeing politics and wars in action. -What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I originally started playing on 7chan’s Minecraft server but the lag and griefing issues got out of hand so I then migrated to Battlecraft. Battlecraft was fun for a while, but it’s started to get boring due to x-raying cheaters fleecing me every other day. I enjoyed the lore especially. -Name the 4 races on this server: I presume you mean the main ones; Orcs, Humans, Elves and Dwarves. His father was a coal miner and a drunkard. His mother died in childbirth, which Pontus’ father blamed him for. He would beat Pontus at every opportunity during his angry drunken rages. Through childhood he had to work in the mines with his father to bring in enough money to survive. Most of the money they earned went to his father’s drinking habit and Pontus had to hide his own meager wealth away so he could eat. Pontus was a resourceful and independent child. In his spare time, he would sneak into schoolyards and eavesdrop on lessons. Through this he learned basic reading and writing. Pontus’s life changed suddenly on one fateful night after the pair returned from the mines. Pontus was practicing his writing with a chunk of coal on the floor by the fireplace. Seeing his writing for the first time, his now drunken father laughed and abused Pontus’ for his unintelligible scrawl. In a minor outburst, Pontus threw the chunk of coal at his father. He missed. His father picked up the coal chunk and beat Pontus viciously with it until not a patch of his face was without blood and gashes. In a final act of cruelty, The enraged man took Pontus by his collar and forced his face into the burning coals of the fireplace. Surprisingly, Pontus survived, but he was permanently and horrendously disfigured. People in the neighborhood no longer recognized him. Some even referred to him as “Rotting Imp” as he looked similar to the decaying undead. Seeing his reflection in a bucket of water after his recovery disgusted Pontus to the point of sickness. He took to wearing an almost skin-tight iron helmet, never taking it off for anything. When Pontus turned 15 he ran from his father and drifted from town to town. After being regarded with suspicion by townsfolk and treated poorly by guards he cursed all civilization and left for the simplicity and savagery of the wilds. However, on his 20th birthday, Pontus returned to Oren for one night. If you look at the city records for that date, you may see a minor note about the suspicious death of a local drunk. Suspicious in that no-one could be drunk enough to mistakenly eat 13 burning coals. -Character Age: 30 -Character Appearance: Ragged, brown garnments. He covers his face completely with an iron helmet as well as some old armour on his front and back. -Character Personality: Generally sarcastic and cynical. Has a mistrust for any city-folk. Detests elves for their fine features. -Your ambitions: He heard about warriors building and defending forts to quell undead raids. Despite his civillisation weariness, he finds this an honorable enough occupation to do it himself. He just needs to work out where these men are. He may end up having to go through the cities he hates. First, though, he needs supplies to make the long journey. And he sure as hell won’t pay for any plots of land to grow it! -Can your character read or write?: He can read a little and scrawl his name, but he never found the skill all that useful in the wilds. -Can your character mine?: Yes. He has experience. -Are you a capable builder?: I am. -Can you wield a sword?: Yes. The wilds are a very dangerous place for a man who can’t fight. -Enjoy Farming?: He doesn’t mind it. It isn’t particularly enjoyable, but it’s a means to an end. -Does your character have any special skills?: Suicidal attacks. He cares little about his life. If cornered by a dozen undead he would charge them with a wooden sword. I'm sure that's useful... somehow... -A screenshot of your skin: I'm hoping I attached a screenshot to this. -Other Information: I really hope I am accepted! This server looks fantastic!
