One day his father went to the market to buy some meat but instead came home with a sword which he gave to Carter. And to top it all off because of the drought every thing was very flammable and while he was at the market begging for food his dad's farm went ablaze bruning down his house with his mom dad and 3 sisters inside, who all died in the fire. Young Blanket quickly learned how to be mean living with 6 older brothers who make fun of you for being called Blanket you get a hard fist and a messed up nose.
