  1.

Kolyat stands before a procession of robed, and hooded elves, he addresses the elves congregated before him.

“Our time in this land is over, lliran. The land of valah holds no home for our people. We will leave for lands that we can live in peace, without war and fighting. Come with us if you wish, but if you stay know that the Nation of mali that you have known shall no longer be the peaceful lands we wished for. The age of the elves has started to reach it’s end, and some members of the High and Lower Council shall take the white boat to the Last Shore. Our time has ended now, the age of Man has started to arise, and the elves that so lingered in the dark awaiting for the peace of our lands to fail and our weapons to aim towards the other races. The peaceful beings the High and Lowers Councils have been composed of will not abide to this warmongering, so forth we are to leave these lands. The beings of the land who have spoken for so long of reform and rebirth shall have their new council, and so we shall see how they rule. If they are to fail.. And the holy lands fall.. With little resources, food, and people.. Then we shall speak at our place. We have done what we can for the good of Malinor, yet people fight against our endeavors. Yet if they are to succeed in their rule and bring a better place to the Elven Lands then so be it. We welcome every Mali to join us on the Last Shore, the voyage shall be a path to bliss and harmony. It is with heavy hearts that we leave these lands to their fate, though the anguish of keeping them at peace has become too much to bare. So it is with a final courtesy that we say farewell to all that shall remain, and wish you a well life in these lands that we now leave.”

As Kolyat finishes his speech, Xanthur steps up and speaks before the people

“I know of but a single thought that runs through the minds of the mali before me now. It is quite easy to believe that we are abandoning our people, though this is not true. I will allow you to believe what you will but ask you to listen to my words. This land has no more place for us, if not the mali as a whole, simply the High and Lower Councils. We leave these lands in search of peace, to escape the constant war-mongering and the fighting of our own kin. This marks the end of our place in these lands, and the beginning of our home in the Last Shore. I wish all that shall remain the peace they so deserve and hold to them a bliss of their eternal lives.”

The procession of robed elves, some mounted, others walking simply on their feet move quietly towards the docks, through the city. The robed elves slowly pass the bystanders, a few saying silent wishes for the prosperity of their kin on these lands.

As the head of the procession reaches the edge of the docks, he turns, letting his hood fall back, he faces the congregation as he watches them board the boat one by one, the congregation takes up a solemn chant.

To the sea, to the sea! The white gulls are crying,

The wind is blowing, and the white foam is flying.

West, west away, the round sun is falling,

Grey ship, grey ship, do you hear them calling,

The voices of my people that have gone before me?

    I will leave, I will leave the woods that bore me;

For our days are ending and our years failing.

I will pass the wide waters lonely sailing.

Long are the waves on the Last Shore falling,

Sweet are the voices in the Lost Isle calling,

In Eressea, in Elvenhome that no man can discover,

Where the leaves fall not: land of my people forever!

As the procession boards the boat, Kolyat tilt’s his face skyward, the starlight catching in his eyes. Where they will go, what they will find, none can say, but none could be mistaken, that whatever they may face, would be faced together.

Larien tugs a hood over her face, she closes her eyes for a moment and lets a faint sigh, and moves to Kolyat’s side, she offers a hand to one of her children and forces a faint smile, Edari takes it smiling, back at her. Altariel looks up to Kolyat and he gives her a nod, followed by a faint smile.

Lithimis lays down a dark wooden key at the edge of the docks, it has a slight red glow to it. “Perhaps someday they will find where it goes.” He drops his hood back and nods at Kolyat as he steps on the white boat. “I had hoped this land would have been more peaceful than the last, but it seems there can not be peace with so much hate around us.”

Orym, out of his Sentinel Uniform and in a hooded and robed garb, boards the white boat, following Kolyat. As he leaves, he throws his sword into the water, mumbling something in elvish under his breath.

Enyahs starts walking off, though he stops as he turns looking back at Amarwen. Looking around a moment he waves her to come, holding his hand out to her. They hold hands as Amarwen holds Altii’aer bundled up in a teal colored blanket. Enyahs looks back once more and sighs before continuing to move on. Once he is on the boat he looks out to the sea, not giving Malinor even a second glance . “Ethane hileiane“ He speaks, having said it many times before.

Finduilas blinks his one good eye and turns toward the boat showing no emotion.

Aldeon sighs with a stressful look on his face. He was quite enjoying the time here in Malinor, but he knows that the government will become far too corrupt to handle. He will be leaving a lot behind, but then again, he will be taking something greater with him. He’ll be taking his life, to a better place. He packs his small bag with the little amount of things that he had, and thinks to himself for a moment. “I’ll be leaving behind my love, Celia Tal’althri... Unless of course she wishes to come along with me, but I believe she will be best off staying in these lands, and continuing to roam the wilds. I’ll be leaving my job here at the college in Malinor, even though I never had the opportunity to teach any classes to our fellow Mali. The council had worked for so many long days and nights, so many hours, so much of their life, to have it all thrown away. It is amazing how something can crumble apart into a million pieces, even after building it up for so long. I’ll never get the opportunity to develop anything for the people of Anthos.” He runs his hand through his hair with even more frustration showing on this face, which is a rarity for Aldeon, as he is generally a very positive and happy person. He then writes a letter to his love, Celia Tal’althri, notifying her of this. She let’s her know that she is welcome to come, but he believes it would be best for her to stay, and live out her life . “I never knew this rebellion would brew to this point, but I suppose it is time to go.” He says to his fellow Mali. “Off to better places, and better times... Hopefully.” He begins to walk toward the boat, as a tear sheds down his face.

Several figures remain hooded and slowly make their way onto the boat. Filled with sadness and despair they are unable to express themselves and just take their seats.

A small group approaches Kolyat and with soft voices and pain filled hearts you hear the words “We will watch over them from a distance while we can, we shall do what needs to be done to help when they ask for it. We will join you soon enough.” Kolyat nods in response, saying softly “I wish you luck lliran, may we soon find you safe amongst us.”

Xanthur bows his head, yelling a last goodbye to the people, calling his raven to his shoulder and waving goodbye to his cats, hoping Rhonir will take good care of them. He also remembers about the theory he had been working on for two years. He hopes that Rhonir won’t forget it.

Rhonir is solemn as he looks at his llir Xanthur leave, and sheds a single tear. He attempts a small smile as he sees his llir give his beautiful speech and contemplates on how he will send a goodbye. He then smiles as he retrieves a small journal, ink stained, and instantly recognizable to Xanthur. He holds it up very high for Xanthur to see, and smiles. He mouths , The theory will continue, llir. He pauses, chuckles, then also mouths, I will take care of your cats. Satisfied, he smiles and places the book back in his pack. Xanthur nods and smiles in recognition, mouthing Thank you.   He then continues to look at his departing friend, knowing that he will never see him again.

Last in the line, and with a heavy heart Arzota watches them go, standing as a singular figure upon the docks. He could not take it, the speeches and goodbyes moving him greatly, he begins to step forward, stopping only feet away from the boat. As he eyes those aboard he speeks in a low tone, not sounding quite as himself, but rather more shaky and unsure. “It has been an honor, truly, but I can not leave.” he trails off. “Instead I shall stay, though not as a matter of choice, but only to relay information to, wherever you are going...” he looks towards the walk leading back to land, tears in his eyes. “Safe journeys... and may Malin bless all of you in future endeavors.” Without another word Arzota walks off, shaking his head a bit to regain his composure, a flawless smile appearing on his face, yet from within, turmoil.

Still individuals continue to make their way towards the docks.

  4. A small smile plays across Kolyat’s face as, from atop the staircase, the voice, albeit slightly trembling, of his dear friend reaches his ears. As she stops for a moment, a multitude of hand cast themselves into the air, and he cannot help but chuckle.

“Oh llir, teaching is no lighthearted undertaking.”

The smile grows though as the lesson progresses, along with his mood as the voices of the Mali, speaking in language of their ancestors fills the evening air.

“It has begun.” he mutters to himself, “No longer shall the Mali be plagued by ignorance.”

Another topic, and more hands are sent skyward.

“Here, we decide the future, the authors of what is to come, the orchestrators of what will one day be the past, and you my llir, now hold the pen.”

He let’s out a soft sigh, his gaze shifting to the faces of the Mali, a single phrase worms it’s way to his tongue.

“maehr’sae hiylun’ehya … Larihi I do believe you would be smiling now.”

  5.  and at times Kolyat (all Ic of course) that cause such tension and splits. And I say like, because their are others that escape my mind.

As of late Kolyat hasn't done anything racist, he doesn't persecute people because of their race, he does publicly discriminate against them, he doesn't privately discriminate against them. His focus as of late has been the unification of Malinor. If you are talking about other behavior then perhaps I am wrong, the main focus of Kolyat for the last two IRL weeks has been PR.

  6. Maybe if every sentinel initiate didn't leap on anyone who sneezes just because they like combat rp.

Maybe if the people rping Mali'aheral don't DELIBERATELY try to provoke people.

Excepting people to listen to their "superiors" is what makes them violent.

And if this /is/ an ooc thread, let me say, why do elves need to be peaceful and loving? That's a high fantasy archetype. Culture changes and time flows, and there are plenty of violent brutal and ruthless elves. Frankly I find the current situation of malinor more interesting role play wise.

Let me address this from top to bottom.

First, not all sentinels enjoy combat RP, and even if they do, I seen no problem with them experiencing it by attempting to enforce laws. If they make mistakes then they are reported and reprimanded. Furthermore if they really do enjoy combat RP then who are you to say they should not be allowed it?

Secondly, the Mali'aheral can antagonize anyone they want in character. They have countless reasons to insult and detest other races. A big reason that they antagonize people is due to the fact that where ever they go in Malinor they are harassed, insulted, or antagonized by other elves. If you have more questions regarding the justifications of Mali'aheral actions please PM me.

Third, soldiers by definition are expected to follow the orders of their superiors, this is how EVERY other military not only on the server, but also in real life functions. Soldiers who fail to fulfill their purpose (follow the orders of their superiors) are punished.

Fourth, the elves do not need to be peaceful and loving, as shown by the Dark Elves and High Elves. Elves are beings that live for thousands of years, therefor they would be very careful with what they do as they will have to live for a very long time with the results. They would be slow to anger, and not impulsive. This is not a cultural thing in the slightest. Also while there are brutal and ruthless elves that indulge in torture, those are rather uncommon, from my experience. Because of the rarity of elven life elves would have an extreme respect for life, so the taking of life of any form would be no small matter. That is why branding, torture and other forms of affliction worse than death are used. The main problem being discussed here though is the impulsive of elves, which needs to be addressed in RP in the following matter.

    - Set a proper example of how to RP an elf.

    - Look down IC on elves that don't act as elves should.

While there are more options in my opinion those two would be the most effective way to improve the situation in RP.

  7. Pins a note next to the other applications on the noticeboard

I wish to inquire about the possibility of teaching the skills and nuances involved with redstone to young Mali as a subject.

May we arrange a time to meet?

The letter is signed at the bottom with a neat cursive.

  9. Kolyat stands in the square a rather large crowd flocks before him as he begins to speak his words sonorous, elegant, full of confidence, worth and above all else, passion and authority.

Mali! You stand before me now as Malinor, a nation of united elves, Aheral, Ker, Ame. Though it has not escaped my ears the whisperings, shouts or the declarations, the demands for separation. ‘Why ?’ Some may ask.

’Why ?’ is simple brothers and sisters. The answer, selfishness. There are those would would fracture a nation, of brothers and sister for what ? Their own interests of power ? Or perhaps a Mali’aheral hurt your feelings ? Or a Mali’ker give you a threatening look ?  Are we not -ALL- mali ?

Look upon yourselves brothers and sisters. Would Malin be proud to see his children act as Valah, or Botuan ? Squabbling endlessly as do children over sweets. Never an end to the complaints. When one withstanding is not within arms reach, what is done ? You create one!

Kolyat Pauses for a moment looking over the crowd

We are as one Malinor! A state, who has relieved itself of the need to engage in violence. A state focus on the preservation and progression of life and the quality thereof. Where else would Mali go ? Oren ? or perhaps The War Uzg ? yes, tell the Urukan of your desires to study, to uncover history. Or perhaps you desire another place entirely ? Who would lead these places ? Who would simply follow blindly for the reasons I have already stated ? And to what end ? Our numbers are too few to separate any how have the incapacity to see this are blind, or simply fools.

Separation would make us far more vulnerable than we already are. Any who wish for separation desire the weakening, endangering, and destruction of Malinor and it’s populace -you- !, . Should you desire to murder your brothers, sisters, cousins, simply assist this movement towards separation. For separation means, above all else, destruction.

So allow me to ask you this; Who amongst you are Mali ? Who amongst you know that to succeed in such a venture, to meet your requests, to restore Malinor to that which it once was. We require  you, the populous of this princedom to do so.

For this there can be no question , no confusion, no rumors. If anyone has questions regarding to this state, it’s government, policy or intent voice them now, for all to hear.
  10. Kolyat reads over the first section frowning slightly.

"Perhaps the author would fair better in regard to accuracy should he inquire with those who are better informed. Perhaps examination and creative thoguht would render the same results ? Anyhow, thank you for arguing Ebs."

He says to no-one in particular.

  11. Kolyat approaches the notice board, a note in his hand. He carefully removes a thin nail and hammer the note to the board for all to see. He steps back a pace, a sigh escaping his tired frame. A small smile paints his face as he walks away.

This document shall serve to publicly outline the peaceful agreement between the Princedom of Malinor and the Holy Oren Empire.

    1)  All public documents shall be correct in information and beneficial to amiable relations between the Princedom of Malinor and the Holy Oren Empire.

    2) The Militaric forces of the Princedom of Malinor shall remain solely for defensive purposes. The militaric forces of the Holy Oren Empire shall make no aggressive actions towards the Holy Prince of Malinor, or the law abiding citizens within.

    3)  Any criminals seeking refuge in either the Princedom of Malinor or the Holy Oren Empire shall be deported to the location their crime was committed, within either the Holy Oren Empire or the Princedom of Malinor.

    4) Any citizen of either nation plotting to, or found to be performing terrorist, or seditious acts against either nation will be seen as a traitor, and dealt with accordingly.

Any citizen still with questions, concerns or whom is merely seeking advice may feel free to contact any of the High Council relating such topics.
