  1. Hi there!

My name is Estellan. On my first day of the server, a very kind person called Kittenaid gave me a set of leather armour to get me started. I will always remember her name, since she was the first of many Aegis citisens to give me free help out of the kindness of her heart. However, Aegis can also be a brutal, unforgiving place.

I lost my entire inventory 5 times because I had nowhere safe to stay. I had no money to buy expensive protected city houses, so I took to the wilderness. Plagued by bandits and other scum after my belongings (or my life!) I finally settled myself in a cold, damp cave in a mountainside. I built myself a few chests, and got started making myself some money from the natural resources around me.

It was a hard life, but after a while I met some friends who moved into my cave with me for mutual protection. We expanded it and expanded it and added comforts such as carpets and decorations, and more and more people joined us each day. We formed an official wilderness colony called Freedom Ridge Colony, collecting many more people.

Just in the last few days, we built a fortress above ground with a small village inside it's thick walls to keep us safe from evil folk. We are building above-ground buildings such as inns, shops, manors, houses and many other things.

Now we are a thriving community, petitioning to become an authorised Kingdom! So, what does all this have to do with you? I am glad you asked, newbie, very glad indeed.

I wish to offer you a free home. Just a small room, with a bed, workbench and lockable chest but it is somewhere safe to rest your head. We will buy many materials you collect out in the wilderness such as wood, ores, wool and food. You can save the money you earn up to buy yourself either a protected place in a city/settlement somewhere else or a bigger, posher place in our community.

You will be assigned a "tutor" who will answer your questions and help you realise your dreams and goals for Aegis. If your dream is to open a shop, he or she will advise you on where to build it, how to create it and what to sell to who. If you want to become a mighty warrior, we can find you work in our own guards units, or find another Guild/Kingdom who has need of your skills if you are looking for something specific.

Here is a summary of what you get for no cost at all:

    1. A free room, with a chest, bed and workbench

    2. A tutor, to make your first few server days as pain free as possible

    3. RP support - if you are metagaming, powergaming or just making RP mistakes we will correct you. The Aegis general population although on the most nice, are very harsh on people who make RP mistakes. They may not even know you are new! We are here to help prevent that.

"But, Estellan, I assume there is a catch?" I hear you ask. Well, yes, yes there is.

You can only stay in your room for 4 real-world days. This may sound short, but trust me this is MUCH more than enough time to save up. We sell permanent housing for as cheap as 350 minas, and also know of many other deals currently going in Aegis. We will help you find a new home when your time is running out. Once again, you pay us nothing.

In order to claim your free home, please fill out the following form. DO NOT fill it out if you are still a wandering soul. Once you are upgraded ingame, then you may submit it.

    Minecraft Name:

    RP Name:

    Short bio summary:

What my goals are in Aegis:

Once you are accepted, you will be given the co-ordinates to where we are. I must add co-ordinates are usually frowned upon as "metagaming" but since you are brand new and know none of the typical geography and landmarks very well, an exception will be made.

    FAQ

Can I expand the home I am given?

No, you are not permitted to expand your room. This is to make sure it stays fair. The rooms are small because they are free, and to encourage you to move on to bigger and better things!

    Are the chests passworded?

No, but they can be made so upon request.

How will I communicate with my tutor?

Via the forums messaging system. The ingame system would cause havoc with the RP, and also is a bit...basic.

    Isn't the tutor system metagaming?

The tutor uses the forums as a "written letter" system. So it is just like they are writing you a letter from their home ingame and it being delivered to your home. This is not metagaming.

    Will my tutor need paid?

No. Any tutor who asks you for payment must be immediately reported to Estellan.

    Is Shiftnative's beard real?

Yes. It is also an angry, violent being. I once saw it tear a barber in two because he commented that it should be shaved. It then burned down the barber's house with his family still inside. Do not anger it.

How do I know you are not ripping me off? Taking advantage of new folk who do not know the prices and wages and making them work for really cheap?

What a shocking suggestion! But a sensible one, indeed. Our activity will no doubt be closely monitored by GMs and other server staff. If you ever think you are being scammed or shortchanged, submit a moderator help request with /modreq and a moderator will be with you very soon

    Are you a mod, Estellan?

Haha, no. Infact, I have only been on this server a week or so! I am just someone who wants to repay kindness shown to me so far, and also help people get a less bumpy start than I did :)

[This thread will later be pinned by Shiftnative]

  2. We have extended above ground, with a raised hillfort and a walled village around it. So it is currently a two-tier settlement. If all goes well, a third tier will be added in future. Unfortunately, due to the guards (and subsequent wages) necessary to defend such an obvious above-ground wilderness structure no free housing in this area will be available, although the purchase of land, homes shops and even custom guildhalls is still possible.

  3. Just had my consultation with this guild and the consultant was very polite and professional. He came a long, long way to view the site and yet showed no sign of begrudge or fatigue! Would definately use this guild again for work, and would strongly advise others to aswell.

  4. Yep, and I have a picture: 2vnluva.jpg

I need that crater filled with dirt, up to the level of that fortification you see. This is to allow for expansion work to be performed.

Any idea on the cost? We do not have a lot of money. If it is too much we might just buy the dirt and do it ourselves.

  5. As some of you who have been following our Guild thread know, Freedom Ridge Colony recently began work on a large Guild-Hall complex due to multiple enquiries about whether or not our generic Guild Halls could be made any larger or house more things. I am proud to announce that construction has now been completed, and it is ready for a buyer. Even if you do not want to buy it, feel absolutely free to come take a look or ask any questions out of curiousity on this thread. Thank you!

A quick note: The reason this is in the "Guild" section and not the "Trade" section is because I honestly believe it is more relevant here. How many people checking the Trade section regularly have any need for a Guild-Hall? Compare that to how many people regularly, with that requirement, come to the Guild section. I think this is the least "spammy" way of doing it. If you disagree, drop me a mail on the forums and we can discuss it :)

Our colony is located in the far north. It is a fantastic place for Guilds who want to fight the undead, but the problem is supplies. There are not many shops or merchants this far north. However, our colony has all the shops, supplies and merchants you need. We have people passing through from the city who trade with anyone at the colony at a good price. Although your Guild Hall Complex here will be very remote it will not be without the luxury trappings of civilisation!

    The Complex features:

Reception area - With the best architectural marvels in the colony situated in your reception area, any potential recruit who walks past will be in awe. Wow your friends and enemies!

Captain's Quarters - Complete with luxury fittings such as carpets, paintings, a secret passworded safe and a private glass box where he can view training in progress in the training hall

Training Hall - Where soldiers of the owning guild can learn to fight or better themselves in the art of war

Meeting Hall - A place for battle plans to be made, victory songs to be sang and for general gatherings

Barracks - With fully fitted rooms for up to 24 soldiers, no man in this outpost will ever be without comfort

Armory - With workbenches, forges and enough passworded chests to store a whole army's gear this will be a vital cog in your well-tuned guild killing machine

Officer Barracks - With 5 luxury officer rooms, larger and better equipped than barracks rooms you can be assured your officers will appreciate the comfort and privacy while formulating battle plans and training regimens

Officer Armory - A bigger, better armory privately for your ranking officers!

Keep - A central fall-back area should the unlikely event occur that the colony and then your Guild-Hall be over-run by the enemy. Make a final stand behind these solid defenses, designed to give the defenders maximum chance of victory. Very narrow corridors make fighting a skill game rather than a numbers game, and multiple booby-traps will suprise attacking foes!!

Diplomacy Suite - Invite other guild leaders over for diplomatic talks in this suite, equipped with benches, tables and a fine, white wool carpet.

Dungeon - Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer....and behind bars!! With 3 rooms and space for 2 prisoners in each, you can keep 6 of your captive enemies for questioning or worse!

Although that said, we are aware it is a LONG way to walk just to view something you might not even want - so here is a virtual tour!

Virtual Tour of the Guild-Hall Complex

Unfortunately, the forum will not let us post the tour as it exceeds the picture limit. Instead, we have created our own colony forum and posted it there for you to view:

    http://freedomridgecolony.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=tour&thread=3&page=1

As you can see, this Guild Complex is quite extensive and very defensible. It took quite a few of us a very long time to build, not to mention furnish. We are currently looking for 35'000 minas for it, although that is negotiable. We do not discriminate between guilds, but if you are an "evil" Guild please be aware that "evil" actions against the colony will not be tolerated. You might think "Yeh but we have an army and a keep" but remember - we have an army too and we BUILT the keep so know exactly how and when to get into it sneakily from elsewhere. Of course, I am sure that won't happen but never hurts to give fair warning! Evil, Good or Neutral actions elsewhere are fine - we don't get involved.

Have a great day, dear reader, and I hope it is a very profitable one for you.

Please forum mail me, or ingame PM Estellan, Stryker1987 or Game_Reaper for details. Thanks.

    Regards,

    Estellan

  6. I can see what is going to happen a mile off. The Blood Fang will extort or annoy the wrong person, that person will hire the Black Hand/Dark Brotherhood to get revenge on The Blood Fang and then a crime war will ensure. That would actually be pretty fun to see!
