Out-Of-Character
Minecraft Account Name: JamesonTyler
How old are you?: 16
Time-Zone/Country of Residence: West Coast Pacific
Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes
Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I am a 16 year old student who loves to use my imagination. I enjoy adventure and Role-Playing. I like the idea of going into a private world where your imagination is the limit.
How much time could you be on the server weekly?: 10-14 hours
What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: RolePlaying to me is thinking up a character who has his/her own personality, skills, and specific characteristics. This can be in a game, in a play, or just about anything where you are acting as this figment of your imagination would.
What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: I have played on past Role Playing Servers and owned my own at one point. I have also been taking drama for a couple years now.
In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Having your character act according to information that you receive out of character. For example, if there was an announcement on the forums saying “Major RP event in Oren this Friday, the Dwarves will attack the humans” I couldn’t just go to Oren. Although I know this is happening, my character doesn’t. I would have to wait for my character to be informed by another character.
In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Emoting is: Power-Emoting is the act of making your character too power eventually making the situation very bad Role Play. For example if someone blasts a bolt of lightning directly at my face but I say I have rubber skin so the lightning doesn’t affect me, my character would be over powered. I would be Power-Emoting.
What do you expect this server will be like?: I expect this server to be overall very strong when it comes to Role Play and it to be full of adventure but slow in some parts too. I don't expect myself to be the main character of the world like other Role Playing games convey like Skyrim. I understand and accept not everyone can be a strong heroic character for the society to function.
What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I haven't played on any server in a while but i did play on legendary craft for a while and i left because i just got bored honestly.
Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes
Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: Yes
How did you hear about us?: YouTube/Friend
Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: Yes. I received some really good constructive criticism and went back and read quite a bit of your lore. I do realize my mistakes and have decided to change it quite a bit. http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/59097-jamesontylers-app/
In-Character:
Character Name: Rovem
What Race are you?: Orc
What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Shaman
Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):
Rovem was a troubled young orc. His parents spent most of their time burying themselves in beer in the local bar. They could not take care of Rovem and he soon lost his trust in his parents. He had to fend for himself, cooking, cleaning. He grew up to be a hard worker and knew how to get a job done. He soon was a full grown Orc and lost all contact with his drunken parents. While he did grow up to become a very successful trader he never really did step foot out of his small orcish town.
Rovem never really heard of the Shamans. When he was young he heard his friends talk about how they were “freaks” of the Orc race. Rovem actually used to get teased by some of the Orcs because he had very dark green skin along with his black hair. The bullying got worse and worse till Rovem decided to hide his ethnicity by covering himself in long robes. Little did he know he would become what he was trying to extinguish.
On one cold morning, in the small opening in Rovem’s town as everyone knew as the town square, Rovem saw a full grown Orc that was being abused by his town mates. Rotten food, along with curses rang as the poor Orc ignored them and continued to walk. Rovem was very interested by this and had empathy for his unfair treatment. He decided to approach asking the simple question, “Why do they hate you?” The Orc responded in a soft, elderly voice, “Because I’m not the same.” Rovem had a urge of curiosity run through him. “Well if you’re not the same, what are you then?” Rovem said in the curious voice. “Well I’m a Orc Shaman” the Orc stranger said. Rovem was fascinated to meet someone who he really didn’t know much about. Rovem explained how he looked like a Shaman and his friends made fun of him for it. The Orc Shaman explained how the road to being a Shaman is not something you are born into, it is a path of dedication and responsible power. Rovem was too interested and there was no way he could let this Orc walk away without seeing him again. Rovem and the Shaman Orc continued to meet for many years and eventually Rovem decided to follow the path of his friend he made on that cold morning. He decided to follow the path and become a Shaman. He soon decided to travel and trade with the world he knows such little about.
Rovem isn’t like the average Orc. He is very educated because he always had a passion for knowing new things. He loved the competition, being better than everyone else. This included both mentally and physically. He is 30 years old and has a hot temper like any other Orc but also has a sense of arrogance. He hasn’t grown to hate any specific race because he knows very little about them. He just hears countless stories of Orcs saying how weak Humans and how skinny Elves are. Rovem decided to keep his robe from his childhood along with his travelling. He has a passion for violence and never backed down from a fight. Once Rovem thought something he would never change his mind. The first time you see Rovem, it is easy to get some what intimidated by his form, tall and muscular but fairly slim. Not to mention he is just about the ugliest face you will ever see. His preferred weapon is a sword and is very skilled at potion brewing. He excels at those but can’t find the patience to farm or use a bow for a fair amount of time. Overall Rovem is big, ugly and very hot tempered.
What are your Character's ambitions?: Travel the world he knows so little about and eventually get involved with Orcs who wish to bring the Orc culture and spiritually side back to the Golden Age!
What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): A fairly large sword.
What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? Intellect, potion brewing, and he was always good with a sword.
A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format, if you do not know how to acquire one, copy and paste this link into your browser: ( http://tinyurl.com/Lotcscreenshot ): http://i1267.photobucket.com/albums/jj545/Jamesthatguy1/lotc.png
Other Information about your Character: Rovem is overall educated and does not speak a very sloppy language like some other Orcs do. He may say Aye rarely.
Open-Response-Questions
Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? Rovem approaches not happy. This event reminds him of his hated childhood. He goes over and the thugs stop harassing the boy and look at Rovem. As the thugs see that Rovem is looking for trouble the boy has a chance to run off and the thugs confront Rovem. “You damn Orc! Think ye can just come wondering up to use and take OUR prize?” one of the thugs says in a dark voice. At once Rovem knew he was Human. While the thugs were spitting their insults, Rovem was getting pretty heated up. While he has getting angry the other thug saw they were bothering them and said “Well? Wacha goin to do ya dumb Orc. You goin to draw? I’ll tell ya what, you give us some coin and we will forget this happen.” And as the thug reached for Rovem’s coin sack, he draws stabbing the thief reaching for his coin bag, sinking is thick blade into his heart. While the other thug draws as his friend is getting a sword pulled out of him, he decides he is out matched and makes a run for it. While Rovem is still under the control of his erupting temper he begins to chase the thug to find that he is gone into a nearby dark wood and decides to stop pursuing him.
Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? "These are some fine merchandise you have here. If i may ask, where did you come bye to get such interesting goods?" The merchant would then tell him that there is a inhabited island with so many goods it could make any man rich. Rovem would ask for directions to this place but the merchant would demand a steep price that Rovem would hesitantly agree to.
Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: Rovem would take some of the iron bars but not all. He is by no means greedy and has no need to a golden sword. He would leave the rest for its owner. Rovem realizes that it is fair for someone to lose something as a punishment for his stupidity of leaving his supplies out in the middle of nowhere. Deep down though, Rovem knows that’s an excuse he is using so he can get some free goods.
Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond? "Aye, greetings friends, i have been lost and wandering in this cursed forest for days now, you are the only civilization i have come by for a while. Is there any chance you could spare some food and water to a lost friend? Could i also get some directions from you?" If the stranger refused to give him a drink and some food Rovem would have no choice and out of frustration he would have to demand it. He realizes he is very hungry and deprived from water. If, however, the stranger was nice enough to supply me, I would give them some Minas in return for their good deeds.
You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard has gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offers their support. How does your character act on this information?: The money would interest Rovem very much but he is no bandit killer. He has no wanting or need to get involved with other people’s affairs whether it is bandits or collecting bread, but the reward would interest him very much. Going with a party who are not necessarily Orcs would influence his decision as well. He is hesitant when it comes with doing business with other races because he knows little about them. He would go with the party but would be very careful when it came to engagement. He would not want to deal with an injury doing someone else’s dirty work. He would also stay near the back of the party because he naturally didn’t trust the other races.
Anything else you would like to say?: Nope. Thanks for taking the time to look over this though.
