  1. Unfortunately this lore has been denied. Citing reasons that this re-write is incomplete and requires more clarity before we might even think of its re-approval. If you have any questions; please PM me.

  2. Elsillumiran – The Weeping Blades

“We wear masks so that we may hide our shame.

Beneath the gold of our crafted faces, our tears well and fall like rain in summer.

There is no pride in our hearts.

There is no joy in ending life.

There is no righteousness in the blade, and the bow.

Our sacrifice is for our people, our city, and the maehr'sae hiylun'ehya.”

    Dear Single Sillumir,

The Sillumir is formally disbanded. Its member (note the singular form of that word) is to find new employment in Haelun'or.

If in the future if someone seeks to restore this order, and has 6 elves to pledge actively to the duty, this will be re-evaluated.

    Dear Citizenry,

Feel free to ignore the above message— this changes nothing given we had no Sillumir anyway.

  3. The original lore worked on all typed of magic spilt into two subtypes. But, that was when mages could only have 1 archetype. The introduction of "exceptions" (which happened every 4 months any time anyone revised their lore) as well as the removal of the MAT meant that it became worthless— since any mage encountered would have an exception magic.

Tempered fi' put an end to the fact that a player like MagicPastry could go up to nearly any event character, real character or any other character and end up being told "lol I have this one magic which you can't drain" so I'll just use that... And your magic draining magic is useless. (Hyperbole).

The point is, the old form was viable until (someone) removed the MAT. Then, the proliferation of magic, and exceptions, made it kind of worthless.

The notion that this has been powergamed, and that you were unaware, are both untrue— I will claim. Given... I said that clearly (as that was the main point of the lore) and given no powergaming reports ever have been introduced.

  4. Quote

though only because of how it was practiced in RP

Please... Reference me this RP you saw practiced in which a Tempered mage ever used a weapon or physical strength. Because, I assure you, this hasn't even happened. My assumption is they, like the things you wrote the other day— should not be simultaneously casting and doing physically-intense things.

If you were told "multiple times" any of this, then you were lied to. That RP never occurred. The Owl never killed any dark mage with tempered Fi. Only Zerg rush gold weapons.

There were 3 Tempered Fi' mages. None of them ever attacked anyone with Tempered Fi'. Anything to the contrary is part of a circle-jerk lie.

    A crudely drawn banner is scrawled on parchment littered throughout the realm. The lines drawn in charcoal, somewhat elegantly but clearly without a skillful hand. The words below it plain, but simple, as if a request for those who would wish for work would respond to;

    Elves Sought,

Of nimble foot, sharp wit and quick with bow. It is sought by the writer those who seek to uncover the ancient past of our people. To discover under rock, tree and stone that which bound our often disparate peoples together. Applicants need be acceptably prepared for service to History, and the preservation of the Elder-Kindred. A message by the flight of a bird's wings.

  6. With the tied vote of Treshure's modification to Fi' lore and other comments, a revision and/or clarification of Tempered Fi' was requested. It is rendered below.

    The Tempering of Souls

    rqgQS2_gqO6kM1ltdbhA_B1VrIi5T_ffPY5Z7oAF

The Fi’ who so wander this world are not those who had done so in the past. The ancient art, riddled in mystery and ritual had been lost to time— lost to the gradual dispersion of the once proud Elibar’acal. And yet, the Golden Veil cracks. There was wealth to be found in this realm of Vailor, and not wealth of jewels… But wealth sealed within a Golden Tomb.

    Comparisons

    • As compared to Untempered Fi', Tempered Fi' is less efficient at draining magic (as established in the original Tempered Fi' lore). While an Untempered Fi' mage, who notably specializes in their magic type, and does have a soul directly latched to them, a Tempered Fi' mage is less specialized and does not have a soul directly latched to them.
    • The notion one needs to "remove the Holy nature" of Tempered Fi' remains unfounded. The "Holy" interpretation is an IC one. Just like "Dark Magic" is also an IC interpretation.
    • To clarify Tempered Fi' lore, these practitioners still suffer the Schizophrenic-like tendencies of their Untempered Fi' kindred. However, they are more muted— given the soul is not attached to them directly. No where does this say this is absent.
    • To summon from undisclosed lore— a Tempered Fi' mage can be disabled by the capture of their Orb. It will dissipate when too far from them. Another sacrifice is required to reforge the Orb. An Untempered Mage can not be disabled.
    • An untempered Fi' mage can still learn both subtypes.
    • A Tempered Fi mage may construct a soul-library (a device with which to store an Orb without it dissipating in their absence).
    • A Tempered Fi' mage is less physically strong than a normal individual. They are stronger than mages. If one imagines a mage as 50% as strong as a regular person (in terms of physical strength) a Fi' mage is 75% as strong.
    • A tempered Fi' or untempered Fi' user can not sense dark magics. This is not read anywhere on the lore, and was already a settled matter. Just as a Cleric, Ascended, or Shade can't sense one another.
    • Soul afflictions can still be rended with OOC permission.
    • Enchanting still makes you ill.
    • Weapon forging is removed. It was never a role-played element and, upon initial acceptance of the original lore, was removed for it lacked lore. This has never been a part of Tempered Fi'. The only weapon forging is for the ritual. If it is to be made, lore will be written. As always.

It is also worth noting the revision proposed by Treshure significantly empowered, rather than Reduced Fi'. Given it removed the exceptions of the various magics which, over time, wrote their lore to exempt themselves from "Acaele" Fi'. Consequentially, an Untempered Fi' mage under Treshure's lore is able, without sacrifice of power, to simply learn both subtypes of Fi' and drain more efficiently all magics than a Tempered Fi' mage— their only sacrifice being physical strength— which is irrelevant as they can already drain the energies of a mage and stab them to death even if they are not summoning magic.

  7. In order to teach "Tempered Fi" you require a Fi' forged blade (something which no one knows how to forge— as I never wrote lore for it, and we only ever had one). Which is in turn the explanation for why the magic is guild locked— which was the intent of the creation of the new magic subtype.

That said, the point of Fi' (and its reiteration) was that the old untempered Fi' could be taught without this— not guild locked. Hence, you can learn Fi' (any type) and teach the old version, but the new version is guild locked— and hence it can not be taught without instruction as to how to teach the new type.

    tl;dr

It is sensible she can teach either version of Untempered Fi' (particularly given her teacher, Ikur, was a practitioner of that). But to teach Tempered Fi' requires the method and tools with which to Temper a soul— things she lacks.

  8. I will be honest, and say I have not read the whole lore yet. However, the fact it is written this magic does not use mana, is akin to saying "this juice has no water".

Magic on LotC requires mana. Without water, it is not juice. Without mana, it is not magic.

This lore can not pass while this remains as-written.

What is something you have always wanted to change on the server?:

I want LotC's role play to be about developing stories, be they at the small level, or at the level of nations. Discovering the past and using it to influence the present. This is why I lore, but also why I GM. I also want people to be nice to one another :( LotC isn't a game about competing, its not about winning. Its about building a story.

    What are your finest qualities?

I genuinely think I look at things pretty fairly, and attempt to enforce the rules for teleological purposes, rather than just because they are written. That is to say, the rules exist to stop players from, for lack of a better term, being wee wee shaped objects to one another. Consequentially, it is the job of a GM to keep everyone happy in context of the rules, and to remove people who deliberately have fun from taking fun from other people.

Also I can log block anything... :) Fear the abuse that will be revealed. Canine Unit must have glorious return.

    I also exist perpetually in 2 timezones. I'm a 2 for one.

What are your worst qualities, how can you improve?

The hammer is my friend... It is too much of my friend. Which is to say— I sometimes ban people too quickly without looking at things in context. I am a supporter of the idea that some GM has to bite the bullet and ban players who will even be difficult to ban (see: DDOS), but also aware that too many bans can not always be a good thing.

Which staff members can you look to for guidance?

    I mean... Most of the GMs on the team I've worked with before and like... But I mean... To name some names;

My love for Telanir knows no bounds. Plus, I think he is a reasonable and level headed fella' (except when it comes to Russian history and modern geopolitics.

My love for Pandann is limited because he is British (and therefore inferior), but other than this he is also a level headed fella' who is good to talk to.

Also from my 2 interactions with the new GM Tahmas, I like him :) He seems good to consult with.

Who do you not get along with on the current team?

I think I can get along with everyone. I mean, the only GMs I don't get along with are the ones who like to abuse. But log block is my friend for that.

How much free time do you have?

When I left I had very little interest in LotC. I'd been worn out by it. Now I have the same free time as before. Additionally, in 3 weeks its summer (yay) so I'll be super free (except when transfecting cells in a Lab). I'll also be in Hong Kong then, so I can return to being a backwards timezone GM for 3 months.
