Out-Of-Character:
Minecraft Account Name:
Amra65
Did you attend minecon and sign up at the LOTC booth?:
No I did not. I have only attended one convention so far C.C. and it did not suit me.
How old are you?:
25
Time-Zone/Country of Residence:
Plymouth Massachusetts USA (east coast)
Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?:
Yes. I am American so there is really no need to elaborate on this one eh?
Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself:
A classic 80's nerd! I was rolling dice way before it got all hip and sexy. I am a typically easy going peaceful gamer who likes to meet new faces and make new friends with like-minded interests/hobbies. Minecraft seems to be the ideal place to do this since all the servers are custom tailored to each groups interests. You can tell pretty quick whether the folks who run a server are young kids just playing casually or a group of older gamers really looking to establish a dedicated community with a unique experience. Sorry to go over the three sentence suggestion but a BIG thing about me is... I talk allot. *grin*
How much time could you be on the server weekly?:
As much as I would like to give this a simple response I cannot. My dedication can vary from week to week. I tend to go through binge periods where I can be online VERY often and then just vanish for weeks to months. I always am present on forums for a server so long as they are well run and established/interesting. So even when I am not in the game world I am still a presence in some sense of the word.
What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you.:
I am going to try to cut my rant to a minimum here as I could go on forever. To sum it up... To me roleplaying is when you not just play a character in a game. But you let yourself become immersed in the struggles and emotional turmoils of the character you have taken control of. You do not just "play" a game. You get inside the persona of your character much like you would when you read a book. You either create your own persona and backstory or choose from a selection of ones available, and carry that story out to develop and grow in accordance with the other players and lore in whatever style of game you and your friends are playing. (I.E. paper&pen or electronic)
In your own Words, describe what Metagaming and Powergaming are.
Metagaming is when you are "breaking the third wall" so to speak. An example would be hearing about a veteran player who is giving all his "minas" away to any players in the region over the (ooc) chat. Even though it is tempting you technically have no business racing over to this player to cash in on the deal since realistically YOU heard about this deal NOT your character in the game! Using "out of character" info to your betterment is a form of "Metagaming"
Powergaming is basically a "selfish" way to rp and a common trait in rude gamers. They will do anything to come out the winner. Even if it means using rp in a way that would benefit them and hurt others. Saying you have a sword that eats the souls of your enemies to heal you is cool and often acceptable. But if this sword instantly kills anything it touches and gives you immortality then you are powergaming. When you abuse the freedom of Roleplaying for personal benefit you are powergaming. Using "exploits" and "bugs" is also a form of powergaming.
What do you expect this server will be like?:
I have watched 3 LP series and all the available videos on your youtube channel. I have read all the lore I can sink my teeth into and also many forum posts. I have spent 3 days mulling over different ideas for races and character stories that would have the most lasting appeal. I have downloaded over twenty new skins and still cannot decide on one!
Based on my ambition I am putting into all this I am expecting the server to be potentially the best one I have ever joined. I can only hope. (I was tempted to make a joke on several occasions but I figure you would rather I take this seriously.)
What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?:
I first joined "MinecraftersWorld" when I started playing MC online and I stayed with them until they finally shut down due to a lack of interest and funds. I was a server moderator there and I still keep in touch with the administrators through common interests and TS.
I also play on "MinecraftReborn" which is run by a handful of veteran members from "MinecraftersWorld" I am also a moderator here as they felt I was trustworthy. I only play here casually as I find it to be a bit of a mess.
Lastly I have been playing on a "liteRP" server run by Drakortha (creator of the fallout3 "DC Chronicles" Machinima series) where I was making a re-creation of the continent of Morrowind. I have abandoned the project as I can tell the server is going to go nowhere and possibly take a more casual route soon.
Now I find myself here, filling this app out...
Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?:
Yes. Absolutely.
How did you hear about us?:
Through youtube. I was hunting for just this sort of thing when I came across your advert.
Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you?
No. I have never voted for a server there before. If it is something that will benefit you folks here then I will most likely do it. But for now I would like to first play on the server and get a bit of the "LotC" experience before I make any decisions.
What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name?:
Amra65
In-Character:
Character Name:
Amra
What is your Race?:
Human
Biography(This should include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):
Amra was a man-at-arms who went to war for his king one day. He had been a skilled blacksmith and swordsman. He also had a lovely wife named Ehlana who would tend to their home and farm. Life had been good until war pulled Amra away from his wife and home.
In one of the many battles Amra was finally wounded during one fight. Taking a glancing blow to the head he was knocked out and was counted as one of the fallen at the end of the melee.
Upon awakening he found his mind slightly addled as he could not remember which way was home! He gathered some rations and a blade from the fallen soldiers and made his way towards what he thought would take him near his homeland.
After many days trekking through a forest of redwoods Amra began to suffer mentally due to the hardships of war and the wound he had taken to his head. He became completely lost and had given up hope of ever getting his normal life back. He finally took to living in caves and ruined hovels he would find.
On one particularly miserable night a wolf pack tracked him into his cave he had taken shelter in. Amra woke to find the exit to his cave completely blocked off by bloodthirsty wolves! Amra had always had great knowledge of the beasts of the wild that he learned from his father decades ago during their hunts in the woods. And he knew what needed to be done here if he wanted to get out alive...
Amra took hold of an axe he had learned to keep nearby at all times and chose the biggest, meanest wolf in the pack... The Alpha Dog. This was the one he must bring down...
From outside the cave, any nearby would have heard feral growls followed by a savage & desperate war-cry. Next they would have seen a man and a massive wolf come sprawling out into the snow with the rest of the pack fleeing in their wake!
Blood spilled onto the snowy earth. Pouring freely from the many wounds both man and beast had endured in the first few minutes of the battle! But just as the huge gaping maw was closing on Amras skull... He had a vision. Nay! A memory! It was a woman! It was his Ehlana! The deadly beast had shaken a memory of the most treasured kind free and it gave Amra renewed strength and resolve!
Suddenly the wolf felt strong hands clamp over its upper and lower jaws. Amra was attempting to split the mighty wolves jaw clean in twain! The wolf knew this was happening and quickly clamped its jaw muscles, trying to stop the attack with its sharp fangs...
But even with the teeth digging into Amras already bloody hands he did not relent in the least. With a mighty and savage cry he used all his might and felt the sickening snap as his foe went limp in his hands. The rest of the wolves were already running away as fast as their paws could navigate through the snow.
Since then Amra has worn the pelt of the Alpha wolf with reverence. As a sign of respect to the animal that granted him the gift that was the memory of his beloved Ehlana.
Amra is now a man of the wilds. He knows very little of farming but that does not stop him from surviving and living each day to the fullest! He hunts for the food he needs and crafts or steals anything else that he may require. (I can remove the stealing if it is against the rules! It simply fits the story perfectly. I also would be doing it in good taste.)
Typically Amra shuns the civilized world and does not like to interact with others. He is not a danger to folks who respect his different way of life and odd behavior. But Amra is guided by his instinct and passion and will not hesitate to act if he thinks he is in danger.
If you wish to befriend this odd savage man... Do not be quick to judge him and be patient about how you approach him in every situation. Even though Amra has a damaged mind. His heart is as strong as it ever was!
He is about 6ft-5in tall and has a taut/wiry build from living outdoors. His bright green eyes are his strong feature. He was 25 when he went to fight in the wars (the battles against the undead for Aegis. After the war and the fall of the undead and Aegis he wandered into Asulon and has no idea how the war ended or what the outcome was.) He lives to survive and from time to time is haunted by the memories of a woman he once loved with all his heart.
He has endless potential... But will he ever unlock it or will he remain a prisoner in his own mind?
Your characters ambitions:
Upon entering the world it will be to meek out a simple living by hiding from others and finding all he needs to survive on a day-to-day basis. Over time I hope to elaborate on this and develop trust with other players who do not brandish me a "monster" or "animal" and instead see the man beneath the monster. In these instances I will be very giving and protective of these people I let into my life as a mother bear would be with her cubs. With time and dedication someone can even get me to "remember" my past and then I can begin to allow my character to learn normal human speech once again. (He will speak very little english in the beginning since he spends so little time with humans. And will sound very much like most orks when trying to communicate with his own kind.) So my character has quite allot of ambitions but they can go in several directions depending on how my player interaction goes.
Out in the Wilds, your character comes across a small cottage. Outside, there appears to be an elf struggling combat with two bandits. What does your character do?
If Amra was hidden in the brush as I would assume he was then... He would be sizing up the situation and looking for anything that may benefit him. He would look at the situation like a wild animal would. He is looking out for himself and thinking nothing of the elf or his troubles. If however there was a woman in distress or the elf WAS a woman there is a chance that her screams or struggles would trigger a memory in Amra. If and when this happens Amra can be VERY unpredictable and dangerous. If he thought the elf was the woman from his lost memories (Ehlana) then he would act without thinking. He would throw himself at the bandits despite the consequences and play out his rage until he or they had died. On the other hand if he remained calm and did not have a traumatic memory from the event. Then he would simply lay in wait until the elf or the bandits were victorious and he would either finish the weak straggler and take the supplies he needed. Or he would consider the remaining people, be they elf or bandit too much of a threat, and he would move on using stealth and instinct to stay hidden.
Your character walks up to a shop in a quiet market. "Hello, my good sir!" says the shop owner. "What may I help you with today?" How does your character answer?
I hope this is not considered a "lazy" response. But where my character is so averse to open conversation with people. It is very unlikely that I would EVER walk up to a shop and simply ask to do business. But here is my best attempt to respond to this...
The Animal part of Amra would simply growl at the shopkeep and continue to do whatever he was headed to the mans stall to do. (Amra does not think like a normal person and does not understand the concept of ownership and property. This is what gets him chased out of many towns with torches and swords at his back.) If the man did not call the guard then Amra would be about his business and back to the woods before too many people could gather around to point and make him nervous. If the man shouted or threatened Amra when he realized Amra was not "normal" then he would either be bitten or succeed in scaring Amra away.
The ordinary man hidden inside of Amra would handle this scenario in a much more "typical" fashion of course. With the old "And a fine day to you shopkeep! Still having trouble selling that chest of slimeballs eh? Not very surprising after yesterdays fruitful hunting trip!" If Amra ever becomes a ordinary man or ever finds his Ehlana and tries to live a new life, Then this would be the way the situation would play out. Hope that covers everything!
A screenshot of your skin:
If it pleases the reader I included two screenshots (one front/one back) in the attached files I included with the application. I hope this works as I was unable to find a image I could hyperlink. Sorry!
Other Information:
I have spent several days debating if filling this application out would be worthwhile. I soaked up allot of viral content and info about your server and for the most part I am very, very impressed. I hope my application is not too confusing and I hope the effort is appreciated. I certainly appreciate what you have all done here. And I hope to be a part of it all soon. If anything here seems out of order or simply wrong I will be happy to edit it! This is the first time I have ever applied for a server. I just hope it doesn't show.
Thank you for taking the time and energy to read all this. =D
(Thanks again for the kind words and info. I was blown away to have gotten a response tonight. Dedicated staff I guess!)
