  1. It was in the days of yore, When the lands of Ceslavs were vast, When there were no nations nor towns, Before the first countries were born, Before the people divided and spread, At that time men lived close to Gods, At that time things were new and simple, In the vast woods of the north stood household, In that household lived farmer with his family, He had wife, young son and daughter soon to be wed, He grew wheat in the land near the house, Every few days he found his crops destroyed, Every few day his farm were attacked by animals, "Why is it like that" He thought, "Why other beings can steal from me the fruits of my work?", Many days He searched for the way to get rid of unwanted cadgers, Many days passed until the night of Rakva, Rakva, the night of summoning those that perished, Rakva the feast for those long dead and burial for those that just died, From all lands people gathered and so did farmer with his family, From the temple of dark wood the Volodai emerged, Cloaked in black wool He permitted to enter the temple of Cichol, Cloaked in night he lighted the pumpkin lantern on the pillar of dark wood, All gathered felt fear when the pale light throw shadows on the cellar, All of people felt dread in the presence of God of night, death and magic, After the celebration the farmer come back home with an idea, After the day perished He crafted the lantern from pumpkin and placed it amidst his crops, Months arrived and went, but farmer crop was untouched, Months elapsed and no animal nor monster dared to approach farmer lands, With such results farmer was overjoyed, With new idea in mind he crafted next pumpkin and placed it atop the roof of his house, "For protection of my family" he thought, For many days it was as farmer intended, Until the night of no moon, Until the night of pure blackness, When returning from the feast in his neighbor household, When passing by his farmlands farmer saw that all his wheat was withered and dead, He run to his house with ill premonition, He entered through the door and froze in place, In the chamber his two children were sleeping peacefully, In between them stood tall figure robbed with blackness of the night, Its head were the pumpkin lantern from the roof, Its eyes were the fires that gave light but not warm, "Mortal." Said the figure. "You summoned me here, To this mortal world, and yet I found none to carry off to other side", Farmer stood with terror as the figure of God of Death stood before him, Farmer shivered with dread when the robbed figure pointed at him, "Choose now. Who I will carry out, for no one makes me leave empty handed," "Choose wisely child, your son, or your daughter?" Farmer stood in silence for minutes being unable to choose, Farmer couldn’t make the decision so in desperation he grabbed knife from the table, "Your soul it is then." Said Death when the steel pierced farmer heart, "You will advance with me and your family will be left here, at least for now..." Those who listen remember well, There is no safe way to meddle with Gods ways, And no aid come without a price, Yet the love between parent and a child.
  2. So its yours, seeing it built outside the burgh I though that somebody left. Seeing all these resources I thought that the owner were staying there. If not why gather resources and leave them outside the settlement? What problem are you speaking of? I was worried that we lost someone. If not, then good news this is.
  3. We are aiming for creation of mixed culture from all celts and slavians. The architecture we base mostly on the celts(cause of affection some of us have for Winerica from Asterix.). We wont do everything exactly the same as the historical records say, too many things are unclear even now to say that something is historicaly accurate. Still we will try with recreation of the things we can. The main point in Bism reply is that we ARE small village. 6 people only apply for small farm with 25x25 terrain. We build much bigger burgh because I have diamond vip with which we can extend territory(cant get thruough to shiftnative with validation, but its a matter of time). So bassicaly avoid building anything too big. Giant mill that can "give work" to 3 people when our numbers just grow to 6th person is overdoing things... Try with something smaller, if someone want to be a hunter, then build tiny hut in the forest and start RP, its roleplaying we are doing here, building stuff is only so that we have the place to do that. As for what kind of structure you can add Raphael, yes, just build it in creator and post the screenshot, its called blueprint and everyone is doing this in their charters. ps. Also, when collecting wood in the forest pretty far from the burgh I stumbled on the house (with good amount of collected resources and stuff), of someone named judic-something, I remember that there was someone with that name in our burgh. If Im right then does somebody know why did he left and started building something on his own?
  4. I like the idea of longhouse, and allowing grass inside the burgh is also great. As for the rest, calm down people. We arent big-enermous city with unlimited terrain for our buildings. We are not playing in free-to-build server. The area within the walls is enough for houses of 6 people. Heck, its even way too big. Lets focus on finishing buldings inside the walls and lets improve RP of our settlement. We will try to expand when our numbers will. And also, walls arent decoration, they are for protection. Best to stay inside the safe, undead-proof burgh, than to create countless structures that wont even be used.
  5. Lets get this settlement built.
  6. All that holow. And congrats to Bism for being first chief of the settlement.
  7. The chief will most likely be Bism. Still we are waiting for your and Ceilteach vote in that matter.
  8. Dont misunderstandt hate with frustration cause of your childish behaviour. Everything have been taken care of, be on your way. Cilteach and Oseric, We will send you new coordinations of the settlement.
  9. Thanks Oddn, good luck to you too. Ceilteach, Osiric what are your votes for chief? As soon as we get proper chief elected he can make a plan and orders for advancement.
  10. "Ships that **** fire." -classic :-D Im going to stay of course.
  11. Truth be told, I was expecting this to happen. It was just a matter of time, Aerysalex and Oddn wanted to RP vikings when there are others settlements of them. Vikings are not original at all. There are countless people RPing what they think vikings were(mostly it is based on false records, like scandinavian wearing helms with horns or oppressing their women). I agree with Sacrevarius, lets finish with that three culture rubbish and build ourselfs proper settlement of celtic origin closer to the inhabitet area. Lets stop for now with making elders cause there is too small number of us to make all-old people village. Lets just choose chief so he can give clear directions what do we do. I nominate Bism. Also vinr is scandinavian name, so I would rather go with Winerica(celtic) or other celtic towns0 names: Awelyobrixs - 'Windy Hill' Brigantia - 'Powerfull' Lubri - 'free hillfort' Nerii - 'Heroic' Verubri - 'Broad, superior fort'
  12. In each culture we RP the status of women and men were equal. Of course there was division of things that were feminine and manly. Like fighting was mainly for men and tailoring for women. Still it was possible for woman to gain fame and influence in a "man" carrier. So basically in ouer village women are on equal standings with men.
  13. If what you want is to choose the race that "leads" the settlement, and all others will be just the addition. Then no, this settlement was started to mix slavic, celtic and scandinavian culture in equal way. No race will be leading, all will have rights and limitations. As for joining subudai, we will hold vote in character after the settlement is complete if we want to join the alliance.
  14. Just logged off after reaching the place for the settlement. There is a pile of planks and board with "jomsborg" written on it. I will start transporting goods and making us some lovely chainmails(Ahh, finally it was added. Cant wait to make some.). I will place the chest with food, password will be sent via pm.
  15. Looking monumental, but too much stone for me. It looks more like castle(with scandinavian elements). Still, impressive work.
  16. Awesome longhouse Oddn. Maybe try making it more squaty in the base. Or maybe not, either way that is one fine house you got there. My call for name is: "Winerica" or "Winetborg". Also, I got confused a little. Ayresalex, you are a part of our settlement, aye? #Oceas -> Thanks for advice and ideas. As for chief being inherited position, we are resolved to voting for the new one after death of the previous. In most scandinavian, celtic and slavic cultures this was how it went. See you around after this settlement go live. I will help you Bism, the location is the one that we agreed in the previous post, aye?
  17. The houses and rules for building them I mentioned in my previous post were scandinavian. Go on and try, when I get time I will also try building some.
  18. Nice blueprints but there is a problem: These are no viking nor celtic nor slavic houses. Example of viking buildings during iron age: Basically, floor and walls of the house should stay wood and dirt, celling should be made of straw(yelow wool) and some sticks. Refrain from using stone or planks so they can stay in climatic form.(cobblestone could be used for fundaments I think but dont know if this will look good.) Seeing as this settlement expanded into slavic/scandinavian/celtic then I think that in architecture we will replicate the architecture of Jomsborg. To these who didnt know, its citizens were mixed ethnically and showed great variety in culture(slavic, danish, sweden and so on). Examples of how Jomsborg looked:
  19. 1- We know about Volsungs, yet we are not doing viking settlement but celtic/slavic/scandinavian. 2- The location sacrevarius pointed out is a good one. If Oddn will find better place we can think of settling there.
  20. First of all thank you for the offer and attention. Although tempting, we wont join Kirvel Kotan. Mainly becouse there are some diffrences between how we would like to rp celtic/slavic settlement and how it looks in Kirvel Tribe. Anyway, as for joining Subudai, we want to make that decision in character, and rp vote or something. I would say it is just formality, but still lets have some fun with it. ***Come on, one more sign.
  21. No offense taken. Thanks for the offer to join Scandinavian one but we will stick with slavic/celts. As for joining Subudai, I must firstly ask others and we will see, but I like the idea.
  22. I am sorry if I offended you, I had my reasons for thinking that you didnt read this topic. That is I did read thru Subudai topic and found there only descriptions of Nomad Mongol like clans some Sarmats and Amazons. I didnt found anything on Celt/Slavic culture. So naturally I assumed that you didnt read the topic and you judged on shallow level. That was my mistake, but admit that I had no reasons to think the other way. I would be happy if you could give some info about this slavic clan of Subudai.
