  1. First of all, this was a good read as it helps me familiarize a bit more with the history of the Adunians.

    Some things that I would like to see is something about the languange as I am unable to find it anywhere on the forums and maybe some things about their modern culture and a list of active clans to join.  Maybe make a post that includes links relative to Adunia and its people as well.

    Finnally, can you add my character  Teaghan Elendil on the family tree?  Is is the most recent addition to the Elendil family and is Lachlan Elendil's younger sister.  You may have seen her about in Dal Cais.  Axlrose4078 can confirm this if he has to.  That will be all.

  2. The new changes behind the mining system are quite appealing.  Gives a sort of "randomness" quality when mining.

    I'm a bit bummed out that I didn't get to vote on the updated calender system (too busy with finals and stressing over the computer science assignments).  I can't say that I am thrilled about the new calender system set up but at least we are getting one at long last.

    The only thing that somewhat irks me is the IG year being changed from one week to two weeks.  I always like the idea of how time flies in LOTC and it probably fits with the setting more in my opinion (helps explain how buildings can seemingly spring up and such).  Still, I'm in the minority in this viewpoint as most players that I know dislike the idea of constantly having to age their characters so quickly.  Maybe more people will have more incentive to not "disregard" adding another point to the birthday counter from now on.

    Anyway, those are my thoughts about these recent updates and I hope you find the feedback to be beneficial.  While there are some changes that I am uncomfortable with, I will accept them nevertheless ^_^

  3. Additionally the sudden change from hot to cold in-character would be rather jarring every time it switches (And one month summers... poor Fjarriauga...) and, in my personal opinion, immersion breaking. I think the one week, four seasons system would work just fine, or even a two week system of that's too short for some people.

    Meh... Fjarriauga will just do the opposite of birds and migrated to the colder regions.

    Anyway, I for one like the idea of snow during the winter months for the aesthetics, roleplay interaction with the environment and the additional snow my Fjarriagua character can potentially make use of.

    Now onto the calender itself, I personally prefer Matt's or Gaius system.  The names I thin are better sounding and unique.  Also they don't have things dealing with weather in their names (at least the meaning of the names are not obvious).  After all, I would think its awkward that it would be Snow Maiden when its during the blistering summer time.

    I prefer the full year seasons to be honest.  Gives players more time to RP the local weather and offers the most variety (I would like my fall and spring thank you very much).  Not trying to sound critical but couldn't you have called the ASolarF/GoT-ish system simply "Summer and Winter System"?  It would be easier for those not familiar with ASoIaF/GoT series to grasp what their weather system is and will make the voting process more neutral as I think as people will just vote for it because it has the GoT acronym attached to it like a celebrity endorsement.  Maybe its just my aversion to add any more GoT influences in LOTC speaking but its something to mention.

  4. I haven't visited the actual Iron mine yet. However from what I read in the launch post I believe I have a good amount of knowledge about it

    My main concern is that there is far to little iron in the mine. In the post it says there are roughly 20 iron ingots, that's almost just enough to make one set of Armour for one person. And in addition to this, it says the mine resets every 14 hours. I feel like that is just far to long and if you want to make it that long, then at least increase the amount of Iron in the mine. You said you think it would cause a random influx of iron, I disagree with this as well, 64 iron ingots would hardly cause an influx of iron. As the iron mine is now, it doesn't even affect the economy in the slightest, because the one person goes into the mine, gets his iron, makes his Armour and that's that.

    So I hope that in future mines this problem is addressed or perhaps you could make a change to this mine, but a change definitely needs to happen, because as it is now, barley anyone is getting anything out of the mine.

    I'm not certain but perhaps the intention is that there will be one or two more iron mines that will be released later on to help make iron more accessible.  Anyway, I know most people will complain about iron being too rare but I hope that this will make it so that more people will rely more and more on more accessible and cheaper alternatives like leather, chainmail or hybrid combinations (example iron chestplate with leather boots and pants and a chainmail helmet).

  5. 5/10

    Sorry, I just don't remember seeing you around... let alone roleplay with you.  Hopefully that will change in the future.  You seem to be quite active on the forums and recognize your your transmutation circle avatar.

  6. Arabella, wandering the streets of Oren's capital, stops near the fountain and wonders about her little brother Ali... okey so maybe they are not blood related but they she pretty much took care of him like an older sibling.  After all, she did teach him how to read, the joy of snowball fights, and tried to stay him away from the dangers of alcohol (not even her nagging convinced her "little" to quit drinking once he started).  Even when she became a Fjarriauga she still visited him on occasion but sadly she hasn't seem him since her stay on Elysium.  Partly this is because the last time she went to Oren as "Arabella" to visit another friend nearly got her killed when Leric suddenly showed up and has since made it too dangerous to for her to continue such visits.  Still... right now, she can't help what wonder to the closest person she had to a brother.  She can almost his hearty laughter as he comments how she is looking as "youthful" as ever and how he is slowly gaining more wrinkles and liverspots.  Even if he knew deep down she was a monster,  he never brought it up as he would rather not have to lose his "sister" and part of her is glad that he never pry for answers.  Still... would be nice for her to see him once more.  Wherever he is, she is certain that he is happy out there somewhere... probably doing something rambunctious.

    ((I understand that feeling of being "burnt out".  I can't say I blame you.  Still, I am grateful for all of the memorable occasions and roleplay that we have shared, including our characters "brother" and "sister" relationship to each other.  Memories of Argos and Ildon where among my most memorable roleplaying moments in.  When I first started playing, I looked up to you and the other Wolverines as role-models to improve my RP and show me that roleplay on LOTC is not only serious and demanding but also fun and relaxed.  Whatever your future endeviours may be, I sincerely wish to best for you Groobs03.))

  7. I'm not sure if you mean OOCly agree to it or IC agree to it so I am going to assume you need both.  Obviously you need OOC consent to engage violent and/or sexual roleplay but since this could potentially involve sexual organs you are also going to need IC consent.  And by IC consent I mean the player from whom that liquid is being extracted from has to be WILLINGLY agree to this and can not be coerced (either though IC or OOC means) into having her womb liquid extracted.  Many months ago there was a situation in which a player's character (I believe the player's MC name was TheFemaleElf or something like that, its hard to remember and I can't find the ban report) was rape by another character.  The player give their OOC consent to the rape RP as this player didn't want to disrupt RP and thought that as long as there was OOC consent then the RP is acceptable.  However the administration was informed of the rape RP and banned the players (including the TheFemaleElf) as any and all forms of rape, even if OOC permission was given, is unacceptable on this server.  I bring this event up to serve as a warning as I find that even a small risk of being permanently banned as too much of a risk.

    Still, it will be up to the lore team and/or administration team to oversee if use of a mother's womb liquid as an ingredient for such a potion is an acceptable one for a regeneration potion.  Should the team accept your lore, then I trust that you will take every precaution to ensure that neither you or your fellow players will not engage in roleplay that can lead to someone being permanently banned.  All that I ask is tread carefully.

    I merely stated all of those potential ingredients to demonstrate the large variety of potential ingredients that can be used instead and will likely not as questionable to obtain but still difficult to find.  I don't know if any of the ingredients I give in my example have alchemical properties or not (let alone the one that have similar to mother's womb liquid) but I suppose that is best left for the alchemist to discover what their potential effects are.

    As for my work-in-progess hydra lore, I will gladly show you but I am still working on it (even though its over 5,000 words long as of now).  Right now I am struggling as how to go about writing down the creatures origins.  As of right now that hydra's blood in my lore as of now has highly regenerative properties but some nasty side effect (upset stomach, clawing out your skin to get the "worms" crawling in your skin, potentially tumorous masses grow instead of healing, and slight chance of instant heart failure).  I can however modify the lore so that the blood has to be brewed with other ingredients by a trained alchemist to make it suitable for consumption and have so that drinking raw hydra blood being lethal.

    As I said before, if your patient enough that could be be a suitable replacement for mother's womb liquid even though hydra blood fits better in regeneration (like the liver) than it does creation.  But since the hydra is unapproved lore as of this moment (lore has yet to be presented), I think it will be wise to consider ingredients that you can find IG and currently have approval since we don't know if the lore behind the hydra will ever be accepted in the first place.  Only consider hydra blood as an ingredient should it ever be approved.

    I'm glad you assuaged my concern with having screenshots to show the legitimate process of making this potion in RP.  I am still worried about the use of a mother's womb liquid and thus I can not support this lore but I am happy to hear that you understand the reason for worry and have made considerations to avoid roleplay to lead to bans or perma-bans.  While I may not currently support this lore in its current stage, I still wish you the best of luck regardless with your lore.

  8. Flattery appreciated.   I only wish to bring up my concerns and wish to express them as best as I can.  Whenever I see something that means he raise an eyebrow and even consider if it is appropriate or not, the the fact that that I am debating to myself is a warning sign.  Also my main reason for bringing up my concern for mother's womb liquids the fact that people can potentially get permanently banned if they do not RP this carefully.  Since I don't wish for a fellow fellow player to be banned as the any other player I might as well address it here and now than for the problems be brought up in a ban report.  If it take me 2 to 3 hours (and yes I am a slow thinker and slow type but its is that mindset of thinking and looking at the problem carefully that has served me well for all of these years) to make post that will potentially prevent a good-intentioned player from having to suffer a ban (or worse perma-ban), then I should do it.  I rather that players like Kardel be safe than sorry.

  9. ((Darn it... right was I was in the process of creating a hydra-like(might just stick to the name hydra for simplicity sake) creature in which its blood can be used in the creation of regenerative potions that can heal limbs. >_<

    Oh well, glad to see that some crazy alchemist is out there to make a potion that will RPly regenerate a character's body part.  There are two concerns that I have with this potion however.  First is about representing the potion.  It is easily for any aspiring alchemist to claim that they have brew this potion with or without RP.  I know RPly it is difficult to brew but it is easy to just RP a simple bottle of water to be such a regenerative potion.  How do you plan to counter this so people can not illegitimately make this potion with out proper RP?  One solution I can think of is taking screenshots of the rp of obtaining the ingredients, sceenshoting the the brewing process (don't forget to have a couple a failures to screenshot), and then showing said screenshots to GM who can then give you a named potion of regeneration.

    Another concern of mine is one of the ingredients used: liquids from a mother's womb.  I understand that the point of this ingredient is to express how twisted the creation of this potion is for using such of an "exotic" ingredient but I feel that we should avoid ingredients that involve the use of anything related to sexual organ and body parts.  Call me prude but if the server finds the mention of gentiles or acts of c*******g a bannable offense, then I think something like "womb liquids" will only get people in trouble.  Also, this also brings into question how one can obtain a mother's womb liquid.  My worry is that an alchemist attempting to create this potion will resort kidnapping mothers (I am going to take it that it literally has to be a mother and not just any female) and force the womb liquid out of them.  Such a thing is something that I consider rape and rape is a bannable offense on this server even if the mothers in question are OOCly comfortable with this.  Even if an alchemist can find a WILLING mother to produce womb juice(which I doubt, what sort of good mother will go with a sketchy alchemist will so he can "squeeze" the womb liquid out of her?), how will this go about being RP?  Since sexual body parts WILL have to be involved (unless you perform surgery to cut the stomach and get access tot he womb that way which is dangerous back in the medieval times.), the use of FTB (fade to black) will be necessary.  Even with FTB I find that the RP to have access to a mother's womb liquid to be incredibly questionable and I highly recommend that you change the ingredient "mother's womb juice" into something else that will not raise eyebrows.

    I understand the point of how it represents "creation" and that it has a water affinity in alchemical terms (water = life), but the ingredient and the process to get it is on the border of what is acceptable and what is not on this sever and I think that I will be in your best interest and anyone wishing to make this potion to use a different ingredient as mother's womb liquids only endangers them with a permanent ban even if they take precautions.  There is also bound to be many hard to access ingredients out there than can be used instead: heart of a drake, shard of a golem's magegold core, a tear of a frost witch, bark from an ent, poison glands of a scaddernack, eye of a cockatrice, anything as long as you can make it relevant is use as an ingredient.  You can even make a new ingredient and provide lore to allow use of the ingredient for alchemy.  Heck, if you are willing to wait long enough you can use hydra blood as a substitute once I finish the lore and that that lore is accepted(when that happens and assuming that it does).  In the end you don't find (at least I hope not) ingredients like a bottle of human sperm, dwarf public hairs, and dried orc testicles for the same reason that that you don't find jars of mother's womb liquid, it is because such ingredients are inappropriate and untasteful.  I think most people do not want to think about the RP behind why you even have those ingredients in the first place and what an achemist plans to do with them.))

  10. First of all, a good read as always.  I think the explanation for the types of homunculus types are reasonable.  I will be honest, I don't really see any issues with he doppelganger. As far as I understand it from the lore, it is an alchemical creature that resembles a sentient being and has no particular special powers.  Aside from their chaotic intent, there is nothing I find different from normal people and a doppelganger.

    Perhaps you should clarify that point in the original post, as when people think doppelgangers they usually think of a shape-shifting creature.  Of course perhaps my understanding of the doppelganger is incorrect and they have abilities such as super-strength or something.  I hope that my input is useful.

  11. *a note, seemingly ripped from a book, is tacked onto the noticeboard the notice was posted on

    "Good day, I happened by one of your flyers hope that you may be interested in my services should you still be in need of them.  I currently the owner of Wondrous Writings, a bookstore located in Vaer'Haven.  Wondrous writing mostly sells books and makes copies of any written material upon request. Not only do I have the equipment and supplies but several eager employees (along with myself) who will gladly copying books.  Also, if interested, I am also willing to make a proposition with exchanging books as I am always looking for more books to add to the book catalog and perhaps the Remembrancers are as well.  Send a letter over to Wondrous Writings and I will to read it if you have any question or perhaps ask Sil, I help him with his newspaper business on occasion.

  12. Arabella was one of the few people who didn't gasp, as she already heard of his death.  In fact, she was the once who preserved him in a block of ice.

    Arabella listens to the funny-looking dwarf who is replacing Ferron.  Despite his words, she is uncertain that this one can live up to Ferron's legacy.  Under Ferron's rule Vear'Haven almost overnight and the continuing construction a sign of progress.  She can still imagine the little bearded man who, despite his age, seemingly build the entire city by hand.

  13. Arabella (in her lovely disguise of Jasmine of course) walks up to the messageboard and tacks simple poster.  Appearing pleased, she waddles off back to the bookstore.

    The poster reads:

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                     +=+ Vear'Haven Bell Fund +=+
    Dear Citizens of Vear'Haven,
          Wish to assist with our town with a communtiy project?  Why not help
    donate minas or materials for a new bell for the Vear'Haven bell tower to
    replace the current inferior bell in use.  Speak to me if you are willing to
    donate anything, or with the council members who are also helping with this
    project.
    Many thanks for you consideration!
  14. For more info, the wiki is the best place to start:
    http://www.lordofthecraft.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=The_Fjarriauga
    And here is Urara's mini magic app for Brunhylde, the original Witch Mother.  There is some backstory about the Fjarriauga and may help:
    There are some other documents as well I believe but I do note know where the links would be, but as long as you familiarize yourself with the wiki page (yes it is dated but the basic info is there), then I would say that would be good enough for OOC knowledge.
    Oh, do some things here and there, and hopefully expand their library collection.
  16. I have to say Geo, well done.  You not just adding several creatures in my opinion but rather you are adding an ecosystem into the setting of LOTC.  I tend be a biological enthusiast and thus I always enjoy reading lore about flora and fauna.  I would hope to see this lore accepted soon.  Now for some criticisms.
    The Tykkan, from what I have read and judging from the picture, should probably be changed to a type of crocodile as crocodiles tend to be found in tropical areas while alligators favor more temperate areas(hence why American Alligators dominate the Southern United States, instead of American Crocodiles which find the area too "cold").  You could also change it to a large species of cayman as well (cayman's are basically tropical alligators though there are some noticeable differences between alligators and caymans).  Regardless, this is only a suggestion.
    From what I read about the Gy'Waka, the original lore stated that they where the only predator on the island (and because of this fact why Gy'Waka are so arrogant.).  However, the lore you propose will add several predators native to the island as well as well as a venomous snake.  This conflicts a bit with original lore so you may have to change so that Gy'Waka arrogance stemming from how it being the top predator on the island perhaps.
    Another criticism is that I find type of python or viper may have been a better suited for the Negai than a cobra on the island but if you wish to use a cobra then there is no real harm in going with a cobra.  This is a fantasy server after all :P  Also... King Cobras (largest cobra in real life) grow up to be 12 feet in length, your Negai grows to be 10 feet feet and there for is not larger than cobras in real-life.  You could say it is the heaviest cobra (assuming its build is somewhat similar to a constrictor), or you can adjust the size.  Or just drop the title of it being the largest cobra.
    Aside from those criticisms, I thoroughly enjoyed reading and reviewing your lore and wish you best of luck in getting this implemented as bring a living environment can bring quite a bit of potential RP and making the Kha's home island feel more "alive" so to speak.
  17. This is a most excellent guide to RPing with weapons in LOTC.  I will look forward to reading the additional articles.  Also, for the crossbow section, perhaps you should consult with Temp on their proper use.  I recall that he made a guide dedicated to Roleplaying with the crossbow.  It is my only suggestion as of now.  Best of luck ^_^
