  1. This is getting balanced! Great job. By the way, isn't the chainmail armor too easy to craft?
  2. Out-Of-Character Minecraft Account Name: Gaerys. How old are you?: 16 Time-Zone/Country of Residence: UTC+1.00/Italy Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes I do, I've been speaking English since I was 10. I learned it playing videogames. I can also speak old English, as Tolkien books concern. Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I'm a student whom has never planned to aim high at school. Addicted to mythology, fantasy lover, MMOrpg gamer. Have been playing videogames with my father since he taught me how, when I was nine. Always felt confident with that being my main passion and, in fact, it still is. How much time could you be on the server weekly?: about 40hrs. What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: I believe that everybody has a role in real life. May it be the most filthy or the most important, doesn't really matter. What matters is that our own role is strictly correlated to other people's roles. Our role should be what perfectly suits the way we are, for instance: if I want to help people and look after them, I ought to be a nurse and take care of my patients, or a doctor in general. Roleplaying in videogames is something similar in my opinion, as videogames themselves may be interpreted as a distorted version of reality or another reality itself. It's about doing what I'm better at. Furthermore, what I know about roleplaying is what I realized after years of roleplaying, which should be asked later on. What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: I played a huge amount of roleplaying videogames, from console games to the latest online computer games, such as: the Final Fantasy series (quite disappointed about the XIV), Rohan Blood Feud, Aion, Guild Wars. I'm going to play Guild Wars 2 as well, and maybe Tera. The most recent MMOs I've played are Dragon Nest and Forsaken World, and some Minecraft RPG servers. In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Meta-Gaming is, for example, acting differently than you would do due to an help given or receive from outside the game. In other words, is an affection from the outside which corrupts the in-game balance. In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: I'd give an example: let's take into account that one of the game's main features focuses on gaining certain exp orbs from enemies, and a player becomes an enemy whether he's out of the city. I may pay that player to get repeatedly killed and gain exp over exp, or it might be my own second account. From my experience, then, power-gaming is abusing of some of the game features to gain an advantage over other players. What do you expect this server will be like?: A completely new game, made of Minecraft but not really Minecraft . What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I've never played a Minecraft server that deeply. I tried to build my own RPG server with my friends, it went pretty fine until we realized that we couldn't manage to have our plugins done nor put into the server, so we decided to play here. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes I have. Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: Yes I do. How did you hear about us? Did someone refer you?: Some friends of mine told me about LOTC a few months ago, we finally decided to register! Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: Here it is: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/54957-gaeriths-application/ In-Character: Character Name: Gaerith Cavefighter What Race are you?: Dwarf What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Cave Dwarf Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Gaerith Cavefighter was born on the 8th of August. With regards to his family, the one whom had gave birth to him, Laerja Cavefighter, was the most respected woman among the Dwarves, for she had never gave up mining with everything she had left from her husband, even while pregnant and, thus far, widowed. Until alive, Gnorrk Cavefighter had always been trying to keep his wife alive, traveling throughout Kal'Urguan, exploring the deepest mines, forging tools and whatever could bring money, up to when he died in a a terrible accident. Grown steady on his feet, Gaerith learned all the techniques a Dwarf should know to work out. In the mine he has inherited, he practised the art of forging, he managed to make the most resistent tools and the greatest weapons of all the Dwarven Kingdom. Known and respected, he then decided to become an hermit, to live somewhere else, and to learn the ancient mining methods from the elder Dwarves. There, he could ponder about Aegis existence and its origins, he was clearly aiming at becoming one of the best workers of the West, to live better and to bring the Cavefighter's name on the Irongut and Braveaxe's level; he was visibly changing. Years passed, and Gaerith came back wiser as a Cave Dwarf. He became a very rude Dwarf with a long, unkempt and red beard. His face was aged, so was is whole body, but still he hadn't shown any sign of oldness. Furthermore, he mostly acted like the worst of the grumblers in the mines, always complaining about the lack of aptitude among the youngest Dwarves, like he didn't practice to be good. He indeed realised that, and decided to work as the mentor of his mine, teaching to whoever needed skills, and leaving open doors to who wanted to join the Cavefighters. Until now, Gaerith has been sharing his knowledge to the Dwarves, he's 55 and he hasn't lost his will to increase his clan's strenght - in fact he always taught that joining a great clan isn't as exhaustive as building one -. What is your Character's ambition?: It is to share his knowledge to the Cavefighter's descendants, to strengthen his clan. What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): As a Cave Dwarf, his favorite tool is the Pickaxe. One of the first things his mother taught him, was digging. What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? As said above, mining. A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format): Other Information about your Character: touchy but doesn't bite. Open-Response-Questions Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? «What are you doing!?» - Gaerith approaches the warriors, he believes it is the right thing to do in this cases. Bullying an halfling, being armed and three times bigger, is such a cowardice. «What do you want, you stinky fat Dwarf?» «Uh YEH what you want!» One of them didn't look so pleasant, so Gaerith just yells at the halfling to run away. «I want you to stop harassing that halfling.» He's conscious of his weakness in fights, his only strenght is focused on the minerals. «He didn't bother you, and plus, you are warriors, holding weapons against an unarmed creature! That's unfair and awful.» «You'd better think of your business, you stinky fat Dwarf.» «Uh YEH you would better do, uh.» - They answer. «You're aiming at money, aren't you? I ain't got no money but I do have something which is worth a lot actually. You might be interested in these, I know you would...» Gaerith shows them the minerals he had early mined, a few iron bars, some golds and, mostly, a diamond. And this saves him aswell. Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? Gaerith takes a look at the Merchant at first, he notices he's well dressed, not too tall, a hood covers his face which makes him strange. Doesn't seem a tidy seller, nor one of those who makes his stuff. He decides to take a look and scornfully realizes what kind of merchant he's facing: «Jewels, uh? Which techniques have you used to make these? Are they even thine?» «Y-yes sir, obviously. Ye miht be interested?» «Never! These are rough jewels, not self crafted, but stolen!» - He yells at all the people around. «There's blood on this necklace! Sword marks on this chestplate! These items have been stolen, with violence and cruelty.» «You sir, h-have no proof of that! I'm not selling you anything!» «No proof!? I'm a cavedwarf who works on these sort of stuff, I know whence one is crafted, how and on which purpose!» Gaerith ends up having all the wares shown and, one by one, criticizing the poor quality and the lack of effort on crafting them. As a professional gear forger, none can try to cheat by selling rough stuff with him around! Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: «Huh? Oh-oh. Look at this! A forgotten hut! Someone must have lived for a long time here, this junk is old.» Intrigued, Gaerith wants to find out who lived in that hut and why it was abandoned. He enters carefully, looking around for traps. «I don't see anything interesting in here. Some rotten food on the ground, huh, makes me think someone passed by, this is even tough, how long is it since none comes he-» Gaerith tramples on something tinny. «Oh wo-! A chest! Wondering what's in here, so what, shall I open...? Yes yes... who cares. Let's open it!» He's excited, he's not used to find hidden things apart of minerals: «A few iron bars and a golden sword? These items do not remind me of any possible race whom had left them, a Dwarf like me, maybe? Let's check the sword out» Gaerith wants to analyze the sword itself, to understand if Dwarven techniques were used to craft it. «Mmh. This point here is even crooked, no Dwarf could make such an awful thing, and its no use made in the wrong way! I'm not taking these iron bars, they've gotten older and more rough. I ought to continue, what a pity... ergh.» Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? «Greetings to everyone! Please, listen. I've been traveling for so long in the wilderness, as a Dwarf I truly need something to eat and drink. I'm not a thief, I'm just lost and weak. Would ye help me? I'm not asking for any favor, I just want to do my job as usual. I'm a Dwarf, one of the best cave Dwarves among all Kal'Urguan, is there anything you need to be forged or repaired? Chestplates, swords, axes, hammers, gauntlets and boots, I can strengthen your equip and make it more resistent, I can forge you anything you need. A great adventurer needs a good equipment, the best one is willing to pay the highest amount of money, in order to get the best of the best gears, but price won't be heavy for your pocket, no worries! Come people, come! Your swords and armors can't wait to be reinforced!» You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: «What?! The main road has been occupied? This cannot happen! Not to me! Not now!» Gaerith is on a hurry, he needs to find someone whom could assist the gathered guards! «I wish I knew how to use an Axe, if I could only exchange my mining knowledge for the fighting one, I could help the brave guardians to defend the place! Come on, cheer up, let's warn the Braveaxes, it's the only possibility. A cave Dwarf is such to mine, not to fight! URGH! I'm no use in this situations!» Whilst complaining with himself, Gaerith warns the Braveaxes and tries to bring them to the road. He triest to join the fight but he gets hit, so he just keeps out of it and cheers the fighters and brings them all the weapons they need. «We succeeded, great job. Hail the Dwarves! And take this as a little credit...» The fight turns to an end, and Gaerith shows his gratitude to the Braveaxes.
