In-Character: Character Name: Astro What Race are you?: Human What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): None Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): I was born and raised in Solace by my mother. She used to be a dancer but stopped soon after I conceived. I studied literature and history at school while my father taught me how to defend myself with a sword or bow when he was not away fighting. When I was nearly 16, he invited to the army but I declined. I admitted to him that I hated violence and would only resort to it if there was no other choice. He was disappointed and didn’t speak to me for a while. I felt shunned and as soon as my birthday came round, I gather a few belongings and sneaked out into the wilderness. Since then, I have built a great relationship with the elves and often visit them when I am in the area. I don’t have a permanent house as I prefer to be free to explore and with a house you subconsciously remain close by and develop a routine which further restricts your freedom. I am now 17 years old. I have medium, brown hair and hazel eyes. I stand at around 6 ft with a muscular build. I don’t want to be spotted and noticed by one of my parent’s friends so I wear dull clothes to blend in with the crowd. What is your Character's ambitions?: To hopefully rekindle the relationship with my father. I also want to find a partner who loves to travel and does not ask me to change. If possible, I don’t want to kill anyone. What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): My favourite tool is my wooden sword. I know it is useless against most enemies but it reminds me of the times I trained with my father. What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? I would have to admit my greatest talent is archery. The elves have helped me alot over the past few months and now I use it to hunt animals for food. A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format): Other Information about your Character: My speech has been greatly influenced by the elves. Open-Response-Questions Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? I approach them. “Excuse me as warriors, I would expect you to be protecting the vulnerable, not stealing from them.” The first one looks at me. “Who are you to tell us what to do?” “Astro. I hail from Solace and I demand you to release him.” “Or else what...” “I’ll make you.” They both let go of the halfling and advanced towards me. I realise that my last words were probably not the best to use in this situation. Not only was there two on one but there was a chance I may have to kill them which was the last thing I wanted to do. Quickly, I attempted to charge the one on the left and disarm him but he saw it coming, sidestepped and kicked me in the stomach. The other one picked me up and went to punch me. I ducked and then unsheathed his sword before throwing it into the water. SMACK! The first one landed a punch in my face and I collapsed to the ground. Before he could overpower me, I kicked him in the chest and tried to get to my feet. He kicked me in the back of my knee and then the second kneed me in the face. At that point, the halfling had disappeared. Hopefully, he would return with help soon. They continued to beat me but before long, I was in the right position and withdrew my sword. I smashed the second one in the face with the butt and then ducked and kneed the other in the privates. After, I took his weapon to ensure my safety while I waited for help. Soon, the halfling arrived with a couple of town guards who arrested the warriors and pointed me in the direction of the hospital. “Are you ok?” I asked the halfling. “Yeah, they hadn’t been harassing me long before you arrived.” Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? I admire the wares and their craftsmanship. “Are these all your own work?” “No, only the metal work. The rest is stuff I have acquired over the years and I no longer desire,” replies the merchant. My eye is drawn to a golden chest plate with a spectacular design. “This must have taken you hours.” “Well, more like days. Are you interested?” “Sorry, but I don’t have the money.” “What about a trade? Do you have any food on you? I am running low, only a loaf of bread left.” “Yeah, I have some meat in my pack.” We exchange items and shake hands. Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: At first, I examine the sword. The blade was probably made in the furnaces of the dwarves while the hilt is obviously elven. Satisfied, I gather the iron bars and decide to explore further. At the back of the cave, I find something disturbing. Two skeletons. On the left, an elf with a dwarven battle axe embedded in his skull. On the right, a dwarf with an elven blade between two ribs. My first thought is the sword. Were they fighting over it? Was there something special about it? To be safe, I destroyed it with my hammer and put it back in the chest. Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? “I am Astro, I hail from Solace. I am lost and hungry. I would appreciate food and directions. In return, I can offer you my services.” I say as I fall on one knee in respect. “I am Elaine, I hail from Arethor. You have arrived in time for dinner, follow me.” I follow her to a small campfire in the middle of the encampment where the merchants are busy talking away and diving into a bowl of mushroom soup. “I made it myself” she says before handing me a bowl. “Thanks. I am eternally grateful.” “No problem.” We continue to talk throughout the meal and afterwards, I help the traders collect some food before escorting them to the next town. You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: I approach the leader. “Hello, I am Astro from Solace. I have heard you are looking for assistance to clear the road of bandits. I am hear to help but must refuse the reward.” “Excellent, I will be leading the assault at the strike of twelve. Meet me by the gates before then so we can organise the attack.” With this information, I leave the city by the side gate and circle round. I find a tall tree, climb it and spy on the bandit camp. There is around 50 of them with one brutish looking fellow armed with a warhammer and covered in iron armour. I decide that I cannot wait til 12 and watch as friends are massacred. Twang! I fire an arrow at the brute, hoping it will cripple not kill. Instead, it bounces off his armour and they become alerted. The guards on the wall see the commotion and elect to support me. As I pull back my bow, a volley of arrows lands among the bandits and find their targets. A couple of arrows find gaps in the brute’s armour and I watch as he limps into cover. Quickly, I descend the tree but slip before I am halfway and fall to the ground. A couple of hours later, I wake up with a mild concussion to learn the results of the battle. We had severe losses due to the brute but won nethertheless.
