  3. Ryder trembled as she looked around her city, the colors of her family being torn down and the darkness of the dragon replacing it. She took her crown off, no longer feeling at home, feeling lost and frightened in the crowd of people that had amassed to listen to the inquisitor's words

Stepping back, Ryder stood with the shields, feeling more safe with the soldiers at her back. As the inquisitor addressed them, she turned back to them with a reassuring smile. "Be brave.." she whispered. As she turned back around she felt the bolt pierce her flesh, falling to the cold cobblestone street as the screams erupted from the crowd. One by one her men fell before her, the street painted with their blood.

She screamed in pain, tears falling down her cheeks as she pulled herself behind a stall, covered in the blood of her men, she watched as they were finished off and hunted down.

  4. Ryder sits in the chaos that was the silverblade wedding, she stands quietly at the door, when the raven drops the letter at her feet. Opening it, she gasps as she sees the words, getting on her mare and running her hard back to salvus to give the letter to her son, James.

  6. Ryder walks slowly, coming across a newly dug grave she stops and takes a moment to peer at the gravemarker. Her eyes go wide in shock and she falls to her knees. "G-Galendar?" she manages to say, as tears start welling in her eyes. "Brother why?" she starts to cry heavily over the grave, wondering why no one told her of her close friend's death...

  7. Ryder's hands grasp desperately at the gate as she watches the horror from within. Tears stream down her lightly freckled face, the light from Ezekiel's fire reflected deep within her eyes. She pulls on the gate, trying desperately to get in, yet hands wrap around her waist and she is pulled back. Kicking and screaming she is pulled away from the keep, her father carrying her in his arms.

Her love, her whole world going up in flames. She feels empty.. "I should never have let him go alone.." she thinks to herself repeatedly. A piece of her dies, the one that gave her strength, the one that stood by her in her time of need. "I couldn't save him.. I couldn't get to him"

"I'll always love you.. Ezekiel", She says as she turns away from the keep, her father's arm taking her to safety.

  8. The Death of A Phoenix

    -Part Five-

    The Birth of A Dragon

Prince Lancel Hightower sat on the floor beside her bed, his hand was still interlocked in hers. His Princess breathed slowly and quietly as she lay still in the bed, her hair slowly losing it’s color from her illness and becoming white and pure as freshly fallen snow. Her coma, brought on by a fever and exhaustion had lasted three days now; the land’s best physicians having tried night and day to bring her out of her sleep, all to no avail.

“You need to eat” Isabella Elendil said as she walked into the room, carrying a basin of water in her hand. She took a cloth, wringing it out and lightly patting Ryder’s face with it. “Is there any change?” Lancel asked, getting to his feet. He had stayed close by her side, but still attended to his duties as a Prince. Although it did not show, the last few days had weighed heavy on him. He was more irritable and quick to anger, yet always remembering his duty.

    MBIGx.jpg

Isabella shook her head, a frown upon her face. “I’m not sure..” she said. “Although, her fever has broken.. now she only sleeps”. She put the basin aside, putting her hand against Ryder’s skin and feeling her temperature.

A dark figure in black armor stood dutifully in the corner by Ryder’s bedside, his eyes constantly on the sleeping princess. “And How can you be sure of that?” the dark elf said in a gruff voice. “My daughter has always been warmer than others”. Rai took a step closer to his sleeping daughter, brushing a silver wisp of hair away from her eyes.

“Maybe that’s it” Isabella says, looking to Rai and Lancel. “She’s too warm.. her body still thinks it has a fever.. we need to cool her more”. Without another word Isabella turned from the room, her elegant skirts swirling around her. “Run me a bath!” She yells at the maids. “And Bring it to the Princess’s room”.

    ------------------------~*~--------------------------

Ryder fell, she fell through fire and through darkness. The Dragon and the Phoenix were still at war beneath her, their screams and fiery attacks clashing against each other. The dragon plunging it's claws into the bird's flesh, and tearing it apart. She let herself fall, let herself be overtaken by the feeling, closing her eyes and waiting for death.

Suddenly she felt a sharp sensation, as if her skin was being pulled apart, she gasped for air, drowning as the frozen water filled her lungs, throwing her from the darkness.

    --------------------------------------~*~------------------------------------

Her eyes opened wide, sitting up suddenly and gasping at the air. The cold water dripped off from her white hair, gripping the sides of the bath and blinking her long eyelashes in confusion. The Princess breathed quickly, trying desperately to catch the breath that had escaped her, the world before her spinning in circles.

    WNupy.jpg

The next few moments were a blur, she warm arms being wrapped around her, lifting her from the frigid waters and back onto the warmth of her failure bed. A blanket was draped over her, and she was being held once more, a warm and loving embrace that didn't want to let go.

She blinked once more, the world slowing down and coming into focus. Isabella Elendil stood in front of her, smiling brightly as she ordered the maids to take away the bath. Her father was at her side, he wrapped the blanket more tightly around her, adding another for warmth.

Yet most importantly, she was being held in Lancel’s arms. He held her against his chest, his hand slowly running through her hair. There was a smile on his face, a satisfied look of relief.

“Wh-what’s wrong” she whispered to the Prince, her voice still weak from misuse. He shook his head, smiling as he ran his thumb across her cheek. “Nothing my love, nothing”. Ryder smiled, shivering slightly she lay her head against Lancel’s chest, soaking in the warm heat from his body.

    cLNNR.jpg

Seeing all was well with the Princess, the others left the room, leaving Lancel and Ryder alone in peace. He refused to let go of her, still holding her wrapped in the blanket. She felt comforted by his presence, his warmth and love repairing what was left damaged. As the door shut and they were left alone, Lancel lay his head against hers, cupping her cheek with her hand he brought her face to his and parted his lips, kissing her softly and lovingly. “I love you Ryder” he whispered against her lips, laying his forehead against hers.

    -----------------------~*~------------------------

The throne room let out an array of applause as Ryder entered, her hand intertwined with Lancel’s, and her hair in a neat Braid she smiled. Her scarlet gown moved with her body, in a show of grace and poise. Her health had returned, and with it, her life, ideas and love.

    EbaKM.jpg

She sat down lightly in her throne, smiling at all who had come to wish her well and to attend court. Man after woman stepped forward, wishing her good health and vitality, yet one stood out. A man stepped forward in the red and black of the hightower guard, he wore the helm and visor over his face.

“Good Evening” Ryder said politely as the man stood before her. The tall man bowed, a lock of dark hair showing from beneath his helm. “It is good to see you are well, Your Majesty~” he said in a strange way. Ryder tilted her head, looking from the man to Lancel, who was currently in a heated discussion with Lord Aron about some matter which no one truly would remember nor care about.

The man before her stood tall once again, letting out a chuckle and turning on his heel. Ryder smiled out at the lords and ladies and began to relax, yet something caught her attention. As the man walked slowly from the throne room he began to sing, he sang a strange and haunting melody, something Ryder instantly recognized.

She froze, her eyes going wide as she watched him move through the crowd. She instantly got to her feet, pushing through the lords and ladies to get to him. She finally caught his sight again, standing at the entrance way to the throne room. He had taken his helm off and looked at her, glaring at her with those grey eyes she had once loved so much.

“No..I’m awake” she whispered to herself, when she suddenly felt a hand slide into hers. “What is it, my love?” Lancel whispered in her ear.

Ryder turned to him and smiled, looking back to the entrance to see it barren and empty. She shook her head, confused as to what she had seen. “Nothing.. everything is perfect, my dragon”.

    The End?

  9. The Death of a Phoenix

    -Part Four-

    The Birth of a Dragon

The world around her had been set ablaze, the forest turned to a pile of ashes beneath her feet. She awoke suddenly, gasping in the burnt air around her, trying to breathe as she sat up in the ash, brushing it away from with remained of her clothing.

“He-he’s gone” she said to herself, looking at the barren wasteland around her for any trace of Ezekiel. She stumbled backwards, running through the ashes and back towards the garden. The dust around her settled as she walked into the burnt garden, what remained of the rose garden had turned to withered black rose petals, slowly falling with a slight breeze. The Princess knelt by the pond, speckled black by the ash still lingering in the air.

Ryder cupped the water in her hands, splashing it on her bare skin and trying desperately to rid herself of the blackened ash. She closed her eyes, sighing slightly and watching the water become still once more. She tilts her head, looking at her reflection and the woman staring back. Grabbing a lock of her hair, she looked at it again, twisting it in her fingers. The once fiery color of her hair had diminished, in it’s place her hair had turned white, as pure and innocent as the snow.Ryder shook her head in shock, amazed at the beauty reflected at her. The freckles that had once all but covered her face had dimmed, letting her beauty shine through. Her eyes now shone brighter, like bright emeralds being lit by moonlight.

    Pc1E6.jpg

She smiled at her reflection, skimming her hand along the surface of the water, watching the water ripple and distort the reflection. As the water calmed once more, she noticed something dark move beneath the pool, moving slowly in the deep dark water. “What..is that?” she said as she put her hair behind her shoulders, getting closer to the water. Ryder knelt close to the water, her emerald eyes peering into the deep where she sees the shadow once more, gently rippling the water.

In a sudden burst, a set of hands jet out of the water, their leathery and scaly skin grabbing hold of Ryder. Caught unprepared, the princess falls forward, tumbling into the depths of the water, and falling into the abyss.

    ZyJN9.jpg

She was falling, falling through a never ending abyss of darkness, falling until it felt like she was flying, being lifted by the air. She couldn't scream, she couldn't find it within herself to show anymore fear. The nightmare, or what had become her reality had overtaken her and destroyed what she once was. The frailty and guilt was beginning to fade, and her true being was beginning to show through. She took a deep breath, letting it all take over her and giving in to the dream, giving in to what she believed was death.

“I deserve this..” she thought to herself as she fell, her mind wandered back to the rebellion. She stood like a spirit atop the walls of Ildon, watching the men fall below her. She saw Artorus, a good friend to her, be stuck down and slaughtered. Worst of all.. she saw herself, she saw herself run away from the battle, away from the people that had come to their aid.

    ZrZVb.jpg

She felt a pain in her heart, suddenly finding herself in Arethor with her hands around Ezekiel’s neck. “Please don’t go in there..” she whispered to him, begging him to stay away from the keep. “I have to, my fire” He said low, kissing her forehead. She shook her head, screaming at herself to stop him. Don't let him go.. save him you fool..But it was no use, she let go of his hand, a tear falling from her eye as she watched him walk away from her. Go with him..

The screams.. they filled her head once more. She smelled the smoke, as she ran towards the keep. No.. she screamed to herself, Don’t make me see this.. not again. She pushed her way past the guards and into the keep, the smoke billowing out from the throne room. “Ezekiel!” She screamed, reaching the gate that closed off the throne room from the rest of the castle. Her eyes met the horrible sight once more, etched into her memories and nightmares. She saw her Ezekiel standing before the emperor, engulfed in bright flames. He was screaming as the flame burnt and blackened his flesh, turning his remains to ash.

    Gigb4.jpg

Ryder grasped hold of the gate, shaking it forcefully as she screamed. She screamed through the gate, trying to save him, trying to get to him. Tears streamed down her lightly freckled face, watching as her husband burned alive before her.

    zv5q9.jpg

Stop It, she screamed, I’ve seen enough! Suddenly the world around her went dark, she was no longer falling, but lying upon a pile of grey corpses, their skin dark and decayed. She remained calm, no longer affected by the sight of death. She let out a breath, coming to terms with her death, accepting her faith. “I’m no Phoenix..” she whispered to herself. “I was never strong enough..”

She heard a grueling cry from beneath her, the corpses beneath her moving. They started to grab hold of her, pulling her close to them, to join them and never leave. Their cold and rotten fingers brushed against her skin. These were the ones she betrayed.. the ones she left behind. I am one of them.. She thought. I am nothing..

They began to take the life from her, as her hair and skin grew paler, a shadow of her former beauty. Her heart slowed as they fed off her life, her happiness, and most importantly, the love she held to those close to her. The Phoenix Princess was dying, lying with those she had left behind.

A loud cry pierced through the night, a siren in the dark. There was a slight gust of wind brushing against her pale skin, too weak to awaken. The dead were relentless, unphased by the screech, never giving up on having Ryder finally join them.

(I’d like to make this clear that this is happening simultaneously, as in what happens to Ryder is happening at the exact time that Lancel and Bella are working to save her)

The screeching got louder, piercing her ears as she laid there in the clutches of the dead. Suddenly, she felt the warm trickle of fire beside her, the dead began to let go of her, engulfed in the growing flames. They growled, still trying to keep hold of her, yet the fire was too powerful, it burned them to ashes.

    FrmVw.jpg

Ryder opened her eyes wearily, looking behind her she saw a large winged creature with glowing green eyes. “My Dragon..” she said weakly, a smile forming on her face. The dragon spread its wings, letting out a cry before leaning down, outstretching his neck towards Ryder. A calm smile came across her face, reaching out and running her hand along it’s nose. “Hello my love..” she said, as something inside her awakened.

Suddenly, something awoke in Ryder; a will to survive and to awaken. Her heart went back to the stories she was told when she was little, about the dragon who loved her mother. How her one true love would be her dragon.

She got to her feet, using the last of her strength. to stumble closer towards the dragon, wrapping her weak arms around his neck and holding him close. She smiled, the golden creature sharing his warmth with her.

    1g6aF.jpg

The Dragon’s light pulsed through her, reviving her from the brink of death. Her wrapped his wings around her, enveloping her in his warmth and light. She let out a sigh, feeling safe and secure in his embrace.

The Dragon let out a low growl, resonating from it’s chest. The Princess looked up, shining through the darkness was a glimpse of fire, getting closer and closer to herself and the dragon. “What is it?” she asked, still holding onto the dragon. The Dragon let out a deafening roar, a bright stream of flame directed at the fire in the sky, causing it to let out a piercing shriek. Ryder covered her ears, ducking low as the dragon began to flap it’s large outspread wings, lifting itself into the air.

The fire flew closer, spewing fire towards Ryder. The bright Phoenix screaming at her in defiance as it flew by. The Dragon quickly flew in front of Ryder, the Phoenix’s fire hitting against it’s golden scales instead. The Princess let out a cry as the two creatures took plight, their cries and attacks clashing in the air above her. Embers and sparks lit the darkness, as the silver haired Princess looked on, her Emerald eyes wide in awe. The Dragon snapped at the phoenix, baring it’s long teeth at the fiery bird, causing feathers to fall into the abyss.

    DyZfj.jpg

The Dragon wrapped its arms around the phoenix, holding it tight in his claws. He let out a cry in pain as the Phoenix's intense burned him, yet the dragon looked to Ryder with his Green eyes, almost smiling, and plunged himself into the fire, holding the phoenix along side him.

The Princess let out a scream, running towards the abyss of Fire, and closing her eyes she leapt off the edge of the world, following the dragon into the flames.

(One more part after this, almost done <3)

  10. The Death of a Phoenix

    Part One

    Part Two

    -Part Three-

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04yq13nNaXw

She opened her eyes slowly, a translucent light shining lightly upon her face. Ryder’s emerald eyes darted around the room, seeing the emptiness around her before slowly sitting up. She lay in a bed of red roses, the thorns lightly scratching her bare skin, and tearing at the sheer silk gown that covered her body. Blinking her long eyelashes, Ryder slowly sat up. She breathed deeply, seeming to catch her breath once more as she looked around. Her fever was all but gone, and the uncontrollable shaking had diminished.

    Uou62.jpg

She gazed in awe as she looked at the beautiful garden around her. The bright morning light filled every corner as the sweet sound of a running stream filled the air. “Wh-ere am I ?” she asked herself slowly getting to her feet. She stumbled hazily, still feeling weak from her illness. She stumbled over to a small pond, cupping her hands and splashing the cold water upon her face to wake her from the haze. Ryder let out a sigh of relief as the water dripped from her face, looking down into the still pool at her reflection.

“Good Morning, my love” she heard the familiar voice call from behind her. Turning her head, Ryder looked towards the forest at the edge of the garden, casting a lurking shadow across the grass. She smiled; walking towards the forest. As the Princess got closer to the shadow, a tall figure appeared dressed in red, a shining gold crown upon his brown curls. Ryder smiled brightly as she saw Lancel, walking faster towards him. “Lancel...” she whispered happily, taking step by step.As she got closer, he turned, walking into the deep forest and disappearing in the shadow.

    GoUZ4.jpg

She quickened her pace, her bare feet dancing lightly over the recently fallen leaves. She followed him for what felt like a mile, each time the Prince getting farther and farther away from her as she traveled into the darkness. Ryder began to grow more frightened, the light all but gone from the forest around her. She started to run, her feet slipping on the dried leaves as she runs towards the shadow of the Prince.

She finally reached him, stopping to catch her breath she smiled, reaching her hand out to his shoulder. “Finally..” she said through quick breaths, “I thought I would never find You”. She takes hold of his shoulder, smiling at his warmth. The shadow turned, the crown upon his head disappearing, and instead of the red silk tunic remained a long dark robe. “Hello, My Fire~” Ezekiel said, turning to her.

Ryder’s emerald eyes go wide, she takes her hand instinctively off of his shoulder and takes a step back, almost falling backwards as she loses her balance. “Ez-Ezekiel?” she says, stammering a bit as she blinks, making sure he is still there. Ezekiel looks down on her, a fire burning deep in his eyes. “You didn’t even wait until my body was cold” he says, his voice gruff and full of pain.

Ryder lets out a cry of pain, the wedding ring upon her finger glowing rightly and burning her skin. “I..D-didn’t know what else to do” she says, trying to stop the burning on her hand. Ezekiel shakes his head, his dark hair staying perfectly in place. “You just left, Left as I burned”, He curls up his lip in disgust, “You didn’t even Try to save me”

Ryder’s eyes held back tears, the immense guilt taking over her. “You.. told me not to go in there.. I couldn't get to you”. She closes her eyes, her mind being taken over once more by the screaming that echoed through the throne room as the fire burned. Ezekiel lets out a chuckle, his laughter deprived of feeling. “Now look at you, a Hightower *****. You were a Queen once”.

Ryder closes her eyes, a tear rolling down her chin. “What happened to you Ryder? You’re weak”. Ryder shook her head, denying it as she clenched her fists. “I-I’m not weak”. Laughter filled the silence of the forests, sending dark ravens flying from the branches above. He started to step towards her, his long coat trailing upon the dry leaves. “I-I’m sorry Ezekiel” she blurted out, looking him in the eyes, her own filled with tears.

“Your words are lies Ryder” He says, coming closer and closer to her. She looks down, hanging her head in shame, the guilt once more coming over her. Ezekiel smiles, reaching out and taking Ryder’s hand roughly, “In sickness and health.. till death do we part”. Ryder looks up at him, tilting her head in confusion. His eyes begin to glow, a fire burning from the inside out. The flesh starts to fall from his face as he lets out another loud and menacing laugh. Ryder let out a cry, trying to pull away from him, his hand too tightly gripped around her tiny wrist. “Now, my Love” Ezekiel says, “Now you shall burn with me”.

The fire from within Ezekiel’s eyes spread to the rest of his body, quickly coming alight and engulfing his body. He remained calm, basking in the burning flames that covered his body. She felt the heat, the Flame feeling seemingly cool upon her flesh. Her eyes wide in the overwhelming fear, screaming as the cool flames ticked her arm. The flames danced along her porcelain skin, catching on her silk gown and engulfing her as well. The silent forest was awakened by the roar of the flames, unbearable as they both burned and set the forest alight.

    (Still More to Come <3)

  11. The Death of A Phoenix

    -Part Two-

    Part One Here

The clash of glass followed the loud sounds of the princess’s fall as the maid dropped a plate in shock. She ran out of the kitchen, picking up her skirts as she ran towards the source. Gasping, she rushed to the Princess’s side, carefully rolling her over from how she had landed. “Help!” she started shouting, “Please help!”

The Prince came running down the stairs, his eyes filled with shock as he see’s his wife lying in a heap on the floor. He skips steps to get to her, pushing the maids away from her and kneeling beside her. Ryder stirs slightly, her lip cracked and bleeding onto her crimson gown. She reaches out to Lancel, weakly opening her eyes and looking to him. She tries to speak, no words coming from her mouth, just a little cry. Lancel looks to her, worry in his eyes as he lifts her up gently into his arms.

Kicking open the door with his foot, Lancel makes quick strides over to the bed, gently setting his wife atop the silk sheets. “What happened?” he growls, looking to the maid who found her. The maid quivers, playing with her apron in nervousness. “I-I d-don’t know your Majesty..” she manages to say before Lancel dismisses her with a look of anger. Ryder breathes weakly, the weakness and fatigue of the past year finally getting hold of her. She continues to shake as she lays in the bed, her eyes opened a slit, gazing blankly at the Prince. Her hand instinctively reaches out, taking his as he stands, barking orders at the various servants who came to his aid.

Lancel’s attention turned to the Princess, her hand in his. Something was deeply wrong. He Knelt down by her side, placing his hand upon her forehead. In place of the normal warmth, Ryder’s skin was burning up, like a a fire was burning her from the inside out. She was shivering all over, Lancel shook her lightly, “Ryder..what’s wrong?”. She looked at him, as if she was looking past him, her hand still gripping his tightly as she shook. Lancel turned towards the others, “Get me a doctor!” he shouted. They all scrambled from the room, a messenger on horseback running from the keep.

An hour passed, and the Princess’s fever quickly grew worse. She groaned in pain, her breathing laboured and weak. Lancel sat by her side, holding a cool cloth to her forehead as they waited for the doctor.

“What's wrong?” Isabella Elendil asked as she ran into the room. Her dark hair was out of place, a medical bag in her hand.

Lancel looked up to Bella, his hand still locked with Ryder’s. He didn’t have to say a thing and Bella was at the Princess’s side, holding her hand to Ryder’s head and feeling her ever growing Fever. “She’s weak Lancel..” she said, looking to the Prince. “She’s got a fever.. unlike any i’ve seen before”. Ryder was burning up, her red curls sticking against her skin as beads of sweat rolled down her cheeks. Lancel looked at Isabella, the worry turning to anger. “Do something” he demanded, “Anything, just make her better’.

Isabella kept a close eye on Ryder, examining her through every way she knew how. Yet, still the symptoms persisted. “I don’t know what’s wrong with Her Lancel.. I can’t find what is causing this to happen to her”. Isabella looked to the princess hopelessly, she took another cool cloth and placed it on Ryder’s face. “We will have to hope she gets through this”. Lancel looked to her, any hope draining from his face, “And if she doesn’t?” he asks angrily. The young Elendil shakes her head, “She will.. she has to” she says quietly, not believing it herself.

Lancel and Isabella sit there in silence, nothing can be heard but the labored breathing of Ryder as she sits in her fever. The last of the daylight escapes the room, the only light being the dancing torches on the wall. The Princess suddenly lets out a cry, her eyes jolting open and gasping heavily for breath. “Ryder!” Lancel holds her hand, trying to calm her. Yet it is no use, she starts to convulse violently on the bed, shaking intensely as the illness overtakes her. Isabella stands at the foot of the bed, a tear falling down her cheek as she watches helplessly. She runs to the other side of the bed, trying to calm Ryder.

Ryder takes one deep breath, falling down on the bed, her hand that was once gripping Lancel’s so tightly goes limp. “Ryder..?” Lancel looks up, lightly tapping on her cheek. She doesn't respond, her breathing, once so rapid, stops completely. The Princess lies motionless against the silk sheets, her fever ended, her illness over. Lancel looks up at Isabella in anger, he picks Ryder up in his arms, trying to wake her from her lifeless sleep. He looks at everyone in the room, “Get out!” he screams in a blind rage, his eyes holding back tears. The various servants scram quickly from the room. Lancel lets out a roar of anguish, looking upon her beautiful face. He turns, and in a moment of rage he picks up the end of a table, throwing it and its contents against the wall. (table flip).

Lancel holds Ryder’s lifeless body close to him, rocking her back and forth as he holds back the tears, he breathes deeply, trying to calm himself as her body grows cold. He gently sets her in bed, fixing her hair and setting her perfectly. She looks as if she is sleeping, the colour draining slowly from her face and hair.
