When the murderers eventually come to a hault, Gharvin ducks behind an old tree stump to listen in as they moan and groan between each other, equally passing around the goods they've just stolen from their victim. Gharvin steadily aims his bow at the smallest in the gang, but just before he lets the arrow slide from his grip, he notices another male approach them. 2. Out-Of-Character Minecraft Account Name: Jayjay36 How old are you?: Fourteen Time-Zone/Country of Residence: GMT +00 Scotland Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes. Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I'm a fourteen year old boy who loves to look at life with confidence and is equipped with an artistic eye, I'm not the type to be nervous at grappling the beneficial opportunities that surround me. My friends see me as a reliable, loyal person if they need me, my favorite quote is "Honesty is the best policy", that's because it's true, honest is the best policy. How much time could you be on the server weekly?: Most likely every day of the week for about three to six hours. What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: Roleplaying is the art of creating a character and getting into that character, learning how they act and how their personality is. It is about putting yourself into a situation and then acting out the situation like your character would, this is where getting to know the character you will be playing comes in. It is all about communication as roleplaying alone can be quite lonesome and usually boring. Meeting new people, remembering old faces and interacting with characters throughout your roleplaying community is vital as contrasting with the personalities of other peoples well thought out characters can be fun, exciting and just portray a nice vibe in general. Remember when you were five you used to play pretend, yeah it's like that but now your older and armed to the teeth with maturity and vocabulary. What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: I've not been on too many roleplaying servers, especially not any as serious as lord of the craft, yet I have friends on this server that are really good roleplayers and can help me and guide me to keep my mistakes at a minimum. Although I fully know how to roleplay I am not very experienced, saying this it's not like I'm plain stupid - If someone tells me something I can pick up that information. In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Meta-gaming is the form of using information you as a person OOCly has gained to your characters IC advantage, some examples of this are addressing someone by their name without ever having met them before, knowing exactly where someone is and travelling to their location just because they may have told you through PM. Attacking someone for no reason because you know they are a villain due to having read their villain application. The list goes on, anyway mixing OOC and IC information is strictly against the rules and overrall is just pretty stupid, it's horrid and ruins the roleplay. In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: To power-game is to force actions upon another player without even giving them a chance to react, this could be through sheer nastiness, forgetting the word 'attempts' or 'tries' or perhaps being mislead into thinking the situation is in your upper hand. Power-gaming is to do unrealistic things that differ from your characters strengths and personalities, this could be picking up an orc when you have the strength of an old man, resisting a battleaxe to the face when you know fine well you are mortal or simply writing *I kill all ten men with my sword and walk away* Power-gaming is unfair for all players and makes you look like a butthurt kid when it is you that is doing it. What do you expect this server will be like?: From what I've heard the server is fantastic and has a rich flow of RP unmatched throughout the minecraft community, hopefully the server meets this claim and satisfies my want for roleplay. A good host deserves good guests and I hope we can exchange such pleasantaries. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I'm new to roleplaying on Minecraft and this is the first server I'm trying, to see how I like minecraft as a platform for roleplaying I've done a good deal of roleplay on other games like SA-MP, Lotro and Wow. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Definately, I wouldn't be making this application if I was looking to get myself banned. Rest assured I'll follow your code of conduct. Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: As stated above of course, I look to cause no ill harm to LOTC. How did you hear about us?: Through a friend called Geo, some know him as The Perfectionist. Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: This is my first application. In-Character: Character Name: Gharvin Thornfallow What Race are you?: Human What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Halfling Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Gharvin opens the door to his burrow with a cheery smile portraying on his pale face, he raises both hands with his bright blue eyes glazing in celebration of your arrival, brushing past his short gray hair. "I'm glad ye' could make it! Don' be shy, come on in and sit down. After all, I've got a story to tell you!" Gharvin chuckles as he picks up a book from an end table, opening it and reading enthusiastically. "Once apon ar' time there were a wee lad named Garry, he wus about... lemme see 'ere." *Slamming the book closed on the table he looks at you blankly before bursting into loud laughter. "W'o am I kiddin', I don' need no book! It's written all in me 'ead, it is! Asides, t'e book wus empty, just lines and lines and lines of blank paper ye' see!" He shakes his head, sighing with joy. "Alrigh', well ye' see I wasn' always t'is merry, infact I think I mighta' told ye' the story before but I will 'fresh yo'r memory. Mammy always told me that pappy was a little bit coocoo, but did ar believe'r - course not. Stubborn lil' me was always playn 'round with pappy, pushin an' shovin' um ta' see just what his response'd be. 'Course one day I pushed'm just a little bit too far and by too far I mean all the way down the hill onto 'is stomach, you know the one by the big tree?" Gharvin's face grows slightly pale and he bares his teeth as he hesitates to continue. "Well err.. that day pappy got up an' he got real mad... He picks up his stick and kapow!" Gharvin nods to you. "Exactly, right in the noggin! I shouldn't be jokin' around about this really, in fact now that I think about it, I was scared. I'd never seen pappy that agressive and he didn't just club me once, he wanted to make sure I couldn't stand an' it's exactly what he did do! Mammy got involved and it's where things turned ugly, she was never the same after that, gittin' all giddy and hyped up about stupid things like washin' the pathway and smellin' a flower. T'at man was shunned by most folk after that incident, rarely did ye' see his face round, t'is a good think too!" Gharvin stops to breath and a saddening, unsure frown appears on his face. "Yes, I think I would say I hated the man for what he did ta' my mammy and for what he did to me... My confidence has been on the downside ever since that and I blame that man solely for it, blast'im!" He stops for a minute, furrowing his brow at you. "Oh do excuse me, I am rambling just a little, here why don't I show you this." Gharvin picks up a picture frame, the picture is of a large festival around a roaring campfire. "T'is was the best day of my life, thats what this is. The day I left that bloomin' swallows and came 'ere to Asulon, to the Vale, A good t'irty five years ago see, when I was a young lad of sixteen! I tell ye', this palce be much more of the welcoming sort than back 'ome, well I don' really like to call it my home, nope nope." Gharvin stands shaking his head, motioning you into another room as you stand. "You go 'ave a lie down while I fetch ye' sometin' to drink and i'll - Oh! Do be careful and not stand on me blade would you, ye' might get 'urt. Yup, used to be part o' the militia I did, t'at sword surved me well it did, yup. T'e finest steel to cut me up some marshflies, t'ose were the days eh? Anyways enough o' that, let's get ye' lay'n down now ye' hear?" Gharvin stops rambling as he guides you into another small room, fit with a tiny double bed in which you just fit on. You look around the room to see a leather helmet hanging from a rack although it doesn't seem like it has been worn in years. What are your Character's ambitions?: Gharvin's ambition is to become un-scarred by his horrific past and he aims to become one of the wealthiest, respected individuals in Asulon. When I say wealthy, I don't mean to become rich, I mean well of with life, knowing he can afford what he needs, and even some wants. Fitting in to a community is what really makes Gharvin at his happiest, knowing he has hearty neighbors and friends to have his back is all he really needs. What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): His rusty shortsword, even to this day he claims it hasn't tasted enough boar blood. What is one of your Character's most skilled talents?: Gharvin claims that nobody casts a finer line than himself and whilst taking up the hobby of fishing in his sparetime he's also been known to be good with his wrist, battling in the militia like the fierce wee bugger he is. A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format, if you do not know how to acquire one, click here: http://www.lordofthe...kin-screenshot/): Other Information about your Character: Gharvin is a tad racist and has a hatred for orcs and elves and pretty much most beings taller than him, he is pretty cowardly and is terrified of orcs but views most dwarves as near-to-kin. Open-Response-Questions Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?: Gharvin hops behind a tree, peering over the thick branch, making sure he can see, but staying unseen by the tormenters. "O' dear.." he whispers to himself. Gharvin tries to build up courage with every deep breath he takes to stand up for the other halfling, but he fails in every attempt. Gharvin cowardly stays behind the tree as the halfling is forced to give up his goods to the two armed warriors. Once the drama is over and the warriors are gone, Gharvin walks over to the other halfling, helping him to his feet. "Ar' yi arigh'?", Gharvin says as he mumbles a lie, "I didn' get out in time to help yo', sorry". The other halfling replies with, "I am ok, but you needn' lie t' me, I seen you behin' that tree over ther'", whilst pointing to the tree stump that Gharvin once hid behind. Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?: Gharvins face turns blank as he looks at the merchant. "w-what?" he says abysmal. The merchant scowls at him "Quit wastin' mah time lad, do ye' wan somtin or no?" Gharvin feels slightly uncomfortable, continueing to browse the wares and avoiding all contact with the merchant he begins to get carried away, picking up alot of items, almost more than he could carry. "Two'undred an' forty minas." The merchant bellowed. Gharvins facial expression dropped as a depressed look spread to his face, realising he didn't have enough money. He let go of the cluster of objects, allowing them to thrash on the ground. "Oi, pick t'ose up ye wee bastard!" shouted the merchant as Gharvin scampered off in fear. Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: Gharvin feels intimidated by the ominous lonely hut and hesitates to go inside. Upon finally entering he watches the items carefully, continuously looking over his shoulder in paranoia. He cares not for the blade as he has his own trusty shortsword but places the ingots in his backpack and makes a hasteful retreat into the wilds still paranoid that someone has watched him. Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?: Gharvin smiles warmly as he finds an oasis within the inhospitality of the wilds. " 'Ello mistur! Ah have beent travl'n fer days now, oh glad I am to see anot'r friendly face!" *Gharvin's hand reaches for his small stomach. "Say, do ya have any food round these parts, am so hungry I could eat a whole goblin I could, yup!" His cheery hearty smile beams towards the campers expecting the outcome to be a positive one. You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: Gharvin decides to go forward, putting himself in the role of defence. He begins to equip the armor he was given, but just as he was placing his shortsword in to the holster on the side of his leg, a large group of bandits burst through the town entrance, some horseback some on foot. The town guards and the men who put themselves forward, just like Gharvin charge at the opposing group, clashing swords. Amongst the heat of battle and clanging of steel you hear small pitter patter in the background, if you had turned around you may just see a little armored halfling running for his life.
