What is roleplaying?: Taking on a character to act out situations as if you were them.
What is metagaming?: Using outside information to further yourself (or others) unfairly, in a manner that is outside of RP.
What is powergaming?: Power gaming is when someone tries to further themselves while ignoring roleplaying etiquette. Taking actions in your favor, such as instantly killing someone and robbing them without giving them a chance to react to the situation, is a prime example!. It's ok to lose once in a while.

Character’s age: 19
Biography : Born as the first and only son to an aged farmer and his wife, Thom Redwood grew up just outside of Korath, where his father worked for a lumberyard. His father, Oliver Redwood, hated his job with a passion, loathing the repetitive work, knowing that there was more to life. He would have gladly left at any time, but he was uneducated, so it was to only profession he would be accepted into. Fueled by his hate for the hand life had gave him, Oliver and his wife vowed to give their son an education, which would be his ticket away from Korath. Fortunately, from a young age Thom seemed to enjoy learning, soaking up the lessons his parents taught him like a sponge. He had a particular talent for writing, and would often follow his parents about their house, recording everything they did. Eventually his family moved from Korath to the Isles to escape the Worm, and his father continued to work there. Life was good.
Then, the day prior to his eighteenth birthday, Thom learned that his father had died. The other loggers explained ‘A widow-maker from ‘ell itself came crashing down through the brush.’
‘Its best that way, because it happened so fast that he probably didn’t feel any pain.’
‘Probably didn’t feel any pain’.
When Thom reached his eighteenth birthday, his mother called him to the table for dinner. On their simple oak table, there laid a forest-green coat.
‘Your father saved up for months,’ his mother said. ‘We knew you’d leave soon, and we always wanted you warm on your adventures.’
Thom took the green coat, and pulled it gently onto his shoulders. And he never took it off.
Shortly after his birthday, he said goodbye to his mother and left. The pain of leaving his home was great, but he wanted to fulfill what his father worked so hard for all these years. He is now in search of a job as a bookkeeper and writer, and looks for adventure at every turn.
Personality Traits: Quiet, purposeful, friendly
Ambitions: To succeed in life, attaining a better life than his father
Strengths/Talents: Gifted in writing and drawing, loyal, selfless. A fast runner. Eager to learn anything and everything.
Weaknesses/Inabilities: Never taught to fight, does not know the world outside his area. Too trusting.
Appearance: 6 feet, 1 inch tall; Brown, messy hair. Green eyes, clean shaven face. Broad shoulders from his father, intricate fingers from his mother. Forest green coat with the sleeves rolled up once. Always doing something with his hands, whether its feeling the grooves of a table, or writing about his surroundings. An overall solidly build young man, but also relatively small in comparison to men of the same age.
