Definitions In your own words define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!: Role-playing: Role-playing is simply acting out a character, either premade, or made by yourself. Meta-gaming: Meta-gaming is using information from out of character in character. I.E: Steve tells his friend OOCly about where he is locked up in jail; then asks for help to escape. Power-emoting: It’s when you force actions on another player. E.I: Steve slits Jakes throat, forcing him to bleed out. In-Character Information: Complete the following biography on your character: Full Name: Jack Bishop Current Age: 20 Sub-race (if any): Northerner Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long): Jack was a generally good boy, he’d listen to his parents, and do as he was told. He would do his chores, and eat everything he was given. He was generally a passive kid when he was taking lessons, and didn’t start many fights either; things seemed to go well while he lived in the Northern lands of Hanseti. However, his Mother had grown faintly ill, and passed away while Jack was merely 7. After the passing of his Mother, his Father grew distant, and began to drink often; which molded Jacks Father from a nice, hard-working man, into a hard, abusive Father. It didn’t take long for his Fathers abusive treatment to take root; it had hardened Jack and dulled his feelings towards others. This abuse lasted a few more years, until Jacks 17 birthday, in which his Father threatened him with a knife. Jack acted on this threat, and drew a blade from the forge he’d been working in, and he severed his Fathers hand. His Father roared with anger and pain, and gripped with fear, Jack ran and didn’t stop. Jacks endless running brought him South to Salvus, and this is where he began to settle. He got a job as a stable hand, then was offered a job as a smith’s assistant. For another three years Jack worked, until soon after his 20th birthday; the smithy he worked in wasn’t making ends meet, and had no choice but to let Jack go. Jack is now looking to find meaning in life, his body strong like a smith should be, but still untrained. Jack starts his new life, away from his abusive Father, and free of his strenuous work. Ambitions for the Future: Simply to find a destiny in his life. He’ll do what calls him, if it’s smithing again, or picking up a blade in someone’s name. Personality: Jack has become gruff, and hardened when it comes to emotions. He isn’t able to properly talk about them; he’s distant to most people, but well mannered, and kind. Whilst in the mighty human capital you notice a dark-clothed figure stealthily making his way towards the Emperor’s palace - he is clearly up to no good. There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do? Answer: Jack walks about in the upper half of the Capitol, admiring the huge homes he’ll never be able to afford. Whilst gazing, he notices a dark figure in the distance. Jack gazes at the figure, then to the nearby Guards. “Not my business, I’ll not intrude, for I wish no enemy’s…” He stiffens, walking away, trying to seem as if he didn’t see anything. 2. Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you come across a large clearing, in which sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man armed with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed bandits - they appear to be threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron longsword, how do you react? Answer: Jack’s eyes widen at the sight, he gazes at the three men. His eyes fixed on the third, the Old Man. Without thinking, Jack feels compelled to help. “Hey, leave him alone you Cretans!” One bandit turns, seeming to speak to his friend, but their far from earshot. Suddenly the one still facing the Old Man lifts his large blade; he brings it down, seeming to crush the Old Man with little difficulty. Jacks mouth gapes open, shocked at what he’d just witnessed. The bandits take chase, running at Jack. Dumbfounded, Jack turns sprinting away, his mind filled with confusion; has he just forced the hands of those bandits? Had he caused the man’s death? Jack escapes narrowly, and is haunted by his questions for weeks to come. 3. You are standing within the mighty human capital when you notice a small man standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that the man is selling a variety of general goods - he says that he is selling just about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of choice and the discussion that happens). Answer: Jack quickly starts to take an inventory of his supplies in his pack to see what he will need for the near future. Jack realizes that he is low on rations and decides to ask about the various types of produce. The stall vendor says in a rugged voice “I have a variety of fruits, vegetables, cheeses, breads, and meats. What strikes your fancy?” After a brief second I reply: “I need some foods that will last me awhile, so do you have any dried meats?” The man scratches at his stubble and replies: “I have some, however it has been in high demand lately and my stock is low. All I have left is a pound (1/4 stack) of it left, what’s your offer?” “How does 7 minas sound?” “Too low, I’m thinking about 20 minas.” Jack realizes that he is near the end of his funds and asks “Seeing as I am a man with nearly no minas to my name, would you be willing spare the rest of your stock for in exchange for 16 minas?” The stall vendor takes a long pause then says “Lad, I’ve been in your position before, a long time ago, but I have been there, living from pay to pay. Now that I have a small fortune in my pocket, I’ll help you like none helped me. I’ll accept your offer of 16 minas and I throw in a 3 loaves of bread.” Jack’s heart began to race, then he said “Thank you kind sir, when I can I’ll come find you and repay my debt to you.” After handing the stall vendor the money, Jack receives his goods and bids farwell.

This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): My name is Jack Bishop, I am 18 years old and was born in the Holy Oren Empire’s capital city, Arethor. I have light brown hair, pale skin colour, and dark blue eyes. From what I remember of my childhood we lived with very little food and money. As a result of this my father, Bruce Bishop, set out to join the The Teutonic Order. After a year or so my mother took ill and instead of dying she struck a deal with the local doctors, they could prod her for research as long as I would obtain payment for her torture. Being a ten year old boy I couldn’t stand what was going on and living on my own, so I fled the city in the hopes of finding my father. After three months of searching for my father I was wandering threw a field when it began to drizzle, but it escalated quickly into a storm and I fled inside a nearby cave for refuge. Why scrambling around the cave for something that I could use for a fire I touched something that was ragged, thick, and was covered in twigs. At the age of ten I figured it would make for a good tinder, while the beast it belonged to thought I would make an easy supper. He pounced on me quicker than the lightning raging on outside, my head hit the floor and I blacked out. I awoke in a warm bead with the smell of fresh bread in the air. Not knowing where I was or how I got there I slowly opened my eyes and rotated my head to observe my surroundings. Just as I get to the opposite side from which I awoke a gentle voice startles me and I jump causing a shock of pain to run threw my side, I scream and the voice tells me “Calm down, I’m a friend” then quickly throws in ”I also saved your life”. After he explains how he saw me wandering through his field and figured I was trying to nab some of his grain so he chased after me with his hand scythe out and at his side. He followed me towards the cave and saw how the mountain wolf had pounced on me. He said that without hesitation he jumped at the beast and pierced its neck, but the wolf still managed to get a chunk out of my hip. After he told me how he carried me back to his home and patched me up. I thanked him and asked his name, he called himself Cain. 7 years passed and my stay with Cain ended, I went out to start a new life, along with search for clues of what happened to my father. Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? I will approach the two armed warriors (hand on my hilt) and ask them if they have heard rumours of a man named Bruce Bishop to try to distract them and give the Halfling a chance to flee. If they ignore me I will question what their dealings with the Halfling are and hope that no fights ensue. Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? Ask the man if he has any available information about the job at hand, and if not ask about any treasures I have come across. Also I will inquire about any equipment that may come in handy throughout my journey. After hearing what the man has to say thank him and carry on. Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: While inside the hut search around for any information about the owner of the hut and see if it is alright to take the desired items. If I find information to shows that it is just a really rundown, but still used, hut leave and cover my tracks. If it truly is abandoned take all that is salvageable. Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond? I would respond by greeting them in the same common tongue and ask why they would settle and create a trading camp within the forest. After they respond I would ask them how their business is and then ask to see their wares and sell so miscellaneous items I may have. You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: Go up to the leader of the party and tell him “I am more than happy to help considering I am heading that way and I am an able body”. After telling him this I would ask for an hour to see if I can gather anymore assistance and spare gear from the towns folk. I would then return ten minutes earlier to help organize the party and prepare the skirmish.

First, I’ll sneak up towards them to try to hear what they are saying to the Halfling and what he is saying in his defence. After hearing what is needed if either of them try to harm him I will present myself and purposely draw their attention towards myself in hopes that the Halfling will try to flee or assassinate one of the two warriors if not I will try to motion him into committing one of the actions. If he flees I will ask the two warriors for directions to wherever I may be heading, if the Halfling attacks I will charge at the other warrior in hopes of slaying\tackling him. If we succeed then we will hid the bodies, loot them, then flee the scene. If we fail then there’s no need to worry about the next part.
