Definitions In your own words, define what the act of roleplaying is: Roleplaying is, fundamentally, becoming one with your character. To roleplay means that one must take the responsibilities, necessities, and desires of their character into account. At the same time, your actions should be based off of your character's principal knowledge and moral background. In your own words, define what the act of meta-gaming is: Meta-gaming is an ever changing technique used by many players in a virtual setting. It is a method or strategy that is most effective based on every condition. One who "meta-games" might use a live-chat system such as "Ventrilo" or move to a position that is overly advantageous to a certain environment. In your own words, define what the act of power-emoting is: Power-Emoting is using something that is disproportional to normal power limits. A person who "power-emotes" would likely *cast a spell that paralyzes everybody who opposes them* or *teleport to a place where danger is not immenent*. Using an unrealistic amount of power to defeat enemies stronger than you would be considered power-emoting. Assumed instant kills, invincibility, flying, and magic would all be traits of PE. In-Character Details Character Name: Aris Phyren Character Race: High Elf/Human Northerner Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary: As a boy, the desire to explore undiscovered realms overwhelmed me. My Human father served the Holy Oren Empire as a traveling diplomat, and my Elven mother, the Okarir'Lirrn of the High Elf Republic. I picked up my first Aegean history book at my 3rd human seed, and experimented with a bow throughout my entire childhood and adolescent years. I soon realized that Hanseti held interminable darkness for me. While most Northerners fancied the professions of agriculture or military, I delved into the studies of philosophy and higher power. Something inside of me was calling out and immediately I knew I had to expand my aquisitions. I constantly embellished upon logical thought without abandoning the concept of a higher being. In the following years, I began my Philisophy Apprenticeship in Riven. I studied the adaptation of cultures, development of religion, racial divergence, and meditation. Although I found my instructor madly dull, the coursework fascinated me and I pursued my own studies in solitude. I understood how life functioned, and how we were all catalysts with a story and a moral significance. However, I held, and still hold, only one vendetta which encompasses my existence in Asulon. The taint of the undead still flourishes throughout the land. Their worshipers and servants also make their own plots, spinning webs of lies and deceit. I will undertake the commission to aid in the fight against whatever threatens the sacred mortal creations of Asulon. I will dedicate my studies to the struggle against the undead. I will set to Malinor in hope of continuing my studies in both philosophy and martial combat. The followers of Iblees must be eradicated. What are your characters ambitions?: Aris constantly strives to find meaning in his life. He retreated from the frost-ridden haven of Hanseti to find beneficent opportunities in the mysterious and legendary realm of Asulon. To join a Rangers Guild would satisfy Aris beyond content. Please provide an in-game screenshot of your skin here: A picture of my skin is shown in my Avatar Is there anything else you would like to say about your character?: Aris is 6'1" He is adequate with a longbow Aris believes that every life is sacred and he will never take one without considering the individual's reasoning, moral background, or state of mind. Open-Response-Questions Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short. Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response? In the bustling commotion of the market, the shouts of a despondent dwarf pierce the crowd. I sense agony in this soul's voice, as he hopelessly calls upon hundreds of oblivious Arethorian citizens. I can only help but pity this stout, bearded merchant. As he attempts to sell his impressive stone and iron weaponry, I swiftly approach him and introduce myself. "I couldn't help but notice your expertise in weapon design. I am Aris." He responds in a baritone grunt,"Aye, Aris 'Tis my craft, but I cannot continue my passion without proper business. I be Kree-Lok" I know helping this man would be a futile attempt, as my reputation in this city is largely unknown. I buy a beautifully crafted iron dagger from the humble storekeeper for 10 Minas, and offer to buy him a couple drinks at the local tavern later this night. He gratefully accepts, and we subsequently talk about advanced business strategy and life adventures over multiple flasks of warm honey-mead. I optimistically look forward to shopping at Kree-Lok's marketplace in the near future. You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do? The moonlight pierces the swirling clouds and I find a suitable area for meditation. I kneel down to pray beside a beautiful Dragonwood Oak. A troublesome commotion from the eastern side of the scenic Oren road arises, startling me. This is a place of solitude! I think. Is there reason to this madness? I climb a nearby tree to acquire a better view of what is happening. Immediately, my hand reaches for my bow as I see an armed Orc in an intense argument with a mean-looking Dwarf. I've seen these peculiar looking individuals get progressively violent before, and I couldn't have that kind of situation on my hands. My former philosophy mentor's words echo through my head, "The gods created all races to be equal. Always keep an open mind, Aris." I was profiling, and I slowly lowered the tip of my arrow, and listened in on their obnoxious conversation. The Orc unexpectedly whips his large broadsword off his back and screams, "3 SWINGS IS ALL I NEED, DWARF!" I raise my bow once more, as the Dwarf retaliates by saying, "I'LL DO IT IN 2!" before running over to a nearby tree with his over sized battleaxe and hacking it to the ground in two swift, clean strikes. I chuckle quietly in relief, as I didn't fire my arrow over a harmless demonstration of brute power. I carefully jump down from my branch and continue my meditation in contented silence. Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do?: I am practicing a mobile meditation technique taught to me by my former philisophy instructor. I walk down the rough cobblestone trail, eyes closed. I feel every texture of the road with my feet and hear every flutter of each leaf. CRACK! I open my eyes just in time to see an old man fall to the pavement and drop every Minas in his frail pouch. I help him up while asking,"Are you hurt?" He responds, "I'm just getting old, you need not worry about me." As I pick up a handful of Minas to put back into his bag, he thanks me. He takes an odd looking ring off of his finger, places it into my palm, and closes my hand with his fragile grip. "I have no use for it anymore. Good luck traveler, may the gods guide you through your journey." He breaks off a rounded branch from a nearby maple tree, and continues east. I stare at the artfully crafted bronze ring, pondering its origin and capabilities...

In-Character Details Character Name: Aris Phyren of Windshade Character Race: Northern High Elf/Human Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary: Aris was born during the Blitz of Nar-Demus, a great war between the Humans and the Elves which left most of the Human nation, Nephreus, a wasteland of ashes. Fortunately, many underground regimes of Human and rogue Elven soldiers found haven in a huge sub-terran expanse which adpoted the name, Windshade. His Human father and Elven mother found refuge in this society, which despised the Elven "whiteskins". Half-Human and a single child, Aris' wasn't very fond of his upbringing, and only made one friend throughout his childhood. Gunther, a pugnacious, yet adamant human revolutionary, took Aris under his wing. The expanses of Windshade offered little in the area of exploration, so the two adolescent boys often snuck out into the sunlight to see what was left of the "real world". Aris aged slightly slower than the average human, which proved as a disadvantage in the area of sociability. When Aris was 26, he joined the Windshade Guard with Gunther. Through thick and thin, Aris had Gunther's back, and Gunther, Aris'. Both became excellent marksmen under the command of their officer, Tyrus, who introduced them both into the scout program. Aris constantly sought adventure and is a cunning soldier who made it into the Elite program in under 4 years. He sees every life as a sacred gift, and has never taken one without questioning an individual's morality, reason, and background. Meditation has played a huge role in Aris' life. When his father died from Mel-Rey disorder, the last place Aris could turn was higher power and prayer. He learned the forms of the Traveler, and could sprint for hours without tiring. Aris experienced the biggest turn in his life at the age of 80 (which is considered "post-adolescence" for a Human/Elf hybrid) when Gunther passed into the afterlife. Consoled by his Elven mother, Aris knew that he would see every friend and ally he had made die if he stayed in Windshade. Relocation was the only way to cope with the losses of those who taught him, trained him, and gave his life meaning. With foreign currency, his bow and handcrafted arrows, and a hastily drawn map, Aris was well on his way to Asulon. What are your characters ambitions?: Aris constantly strives to find meaning in his life. He left the Nephrean military and abandoned the haven of Windshade to find beneficent opportunities in the mysterious and legendary realm of Asulon. To join a fighters guild would satisfy Aris beyond content.
