Brief Description of Race/History: Brutus is one of the many lesser nobles making up higher society in the Empire. Though the truth is that he was never born into the blue blood, he bought into it. Brutus is one of the most wealthy merchants in the Empire. Back before his departure, he had foretold the chaos to come. He had prepared, buying out before trade could wither. Creating a joint shares group, Brutus and other like minded merchants merge their funds. Ships are bought or built, and able sailors found to crew them. The majority of the fleet was slower transports. The goal was to bring as many as supplies as possible. An Empire official is bought into attaching an Imperial troop with the expedition. Many factions and powers rode with this joint venture. Ahead was an uncertain coast, but with rich chances.

  2. One by one, the Imperial reinforcements had come. Traveling in small packs to minimize losses, they entered Kashyyk's space. The fleet is welcomed with an honor guard from the  Wookiee military council. The fighting ships that were requested remain stationed in space. Soon they would receive their orders. For now the eighth Republic reserves are stationed on the moons. Though primarily fighting ships were requested, some troops came with the fleet. The reservist army would begin intense training under Gaarlof. His Wookiee training cadre would put some steel in them. As per Gaarlof's plan, this was the first wave. The Republic would hopefully continue their plan to send waves of reinforcements. For now though, what he has will suffice. The Republic admiral and Reservist general are invited to a war meeting.

Seated in around an oval table, the Admiral, General, Gaarlof, and Wookiee military council begin their meeting. It is agreed that for now a direct assault on a Sith world is not in the picture. Gaarlof persuades them to take it slowly, a step at a time. Instead the Admiral agrees to escort a small army detachment. Their purpose is not yet revealed, as it'll take planning. Besides that naval element, the rest would form into small packs. They would travel to the fringes of mid rim Republic space. Their object would be to protect shipping and worlds from raids. They also would act as advanced scouts, the eyes of Kashyyk. Besides that the council argued and planned. The reservist would be re-equipped from Gaarlof's army. Their quality of blasters and armor would not hold up in a long campaign. From there they would be trained for as long as possible. Once deemed ready, the troops will begin to merge into Gaarlof's army.

The new flood of Wookiee recruits will receive different orders however. More then expected had answered their Jedi's call. The problem of communication was soon an apparent problem within the army. To solve this, translator droids are doubled. Each commanding officer will have one, to better communicate with Wookiee officers. The recruits are put into all Wookiee regiments, and then begin training. Though most were fit, the biggest problem was a lack of discipline. They would be broken down then built back up as true soilders, not warriors. The Wookiee's would be specialist and shock troops. Heavily armed, they are the core of the new army.

Finally a small army is ready. They are loaded into transports on the three moons. Not knowing their mission, they settle in for a possibly long flight. Some five thousand Republic troops, stiffened with a five hundred strong Wookiee unit. Gaarlof always followed the policy of quality. He kept his army deliberately small, so they could receive better training and supplies. His army was well supplied, having only the best they could find. A small amount of numbers could mean nothing, if used right. After a few weeks, the mission is made clear.

Togoria is home to a peculiar feline species. The males roamed in packs, while the females stayed in communities. They had no global loyalty to any large faction within the galaxy. Instead they warned off intruders, killed those who didn't listen. However as Gaarlof's fleet arrived, they did not intrude. Staying a respectful distance in orbit, a message is broadcasted. To every male nomad tribe, and every community on Togoria. Gaarlof pitches the glory of the Republic, it's ideals and joint unity. Trying to show that all races are included, showing how the Wookiee's have begun to. He makes it look like a shining beacon, against the dark tendrils of the Sith. He ask, with the power of the Republic, for the male tribes to answer his call on a great adventure. They would be paid and supplied, to aid in the quest against the dark side.

  3. Kashyyyk, Gaarlof's home world and refuge. He would wander the forest for hours, deep in thought. This planet was not some backwater. This he knew with certainty, Kashyyyk was different. The mystical forest went on forever, the trees reaching for the stars. Wroshyr trees, so sacred to him and his people. They were bastions of nature itself, and life to those who lived beneath. The Wookiee, such a proud and powerful race. They could be underestimated, called simple. But few who have fought or traded with them can agree. They are an intelligent and resourceful race. No, Kashyyyk is no backwater. Counted a major navigational port, that is the first of many claims. The Wookiee made themselves helpful to the Republic, and are rewarded in turn. The coastal city of Kachirho is the heart of any Wookiee. Made within the massive trees on the coast, the city spans for miles. It's regarded a perfect blend of nature and technology. Gaarlof's shuttle entered the cities airspace, brining him down rapidly...

    Waiting for the Jedi was a colorful procession of city officials. Most of them two metres tall, bedecked in ceremonial armor. They formed an impressive sight, their aides lined up behind them. Gaarlof respected the council, but knew they were just for show. Most of them were well above a century old. These wiser heads helped maintain the sacred peace and trade in the city. In the beautiful tongue of Shyriiwook the cities Eldest began;

"Welcome back to your true home, Jedi. Here you will always be known as Gaarlof, the bowcaster smith's son. We have all followed your progress, and celebrated at your victory. Swatting away the corruption that was coming our way from Onderon. Those raiders and scouts could of harassed our neighbors. You have saved our trade, and proven that Wookiee can fight!"

At the last proclamation, the field erupted with roars, growls, purrs, and all sorts of cheers. Nodding and roaring along with the rest, Gaarlof signaled to his aide. A good republic trooper named Katz, from the core. He had been schooled in Shyriiwook, to understand Gaarlof's commands. One very bewildered human in a sea of Wookiees, Katz sighed. Marching up to the council and Gaarlof, he went to the Jedi's side. Leaning forward he whispered. Taking the escape route, Gaarlof nodded and turned to the council. "I am over joyed to receive such a welcome, Eldest. I will be glad to throw a feast tonight in honor of this reunion. However I have matters to discuss with the Chiefs. The Republic beckons and I must go."

The Jedi set off at a brisk pace, Katz running to keep up. The council had expected a bit..more. Regardless they put a good face on it, and began to prepare for the promised feast. Meanwhile Gaarlof ascends the tallest Wroshyr tree in the city. "You did good Katz, pulling me out of that. You can't enter our war room, but I have a task for you. Go back down to the city, and meet up with Enti. See if you can recruit more Wookiee's to the Republic's cause." As Katz ran back down, Gaarlof is met by the Chieftain Guard. Picked for their towering height and strength, they guarded the military council. Gaarlof is relieved of his Bowcaster, a beautiful and deadly piece. Given to him by his father, who is a master bowcaster smith. Reluctantly giving it up, he also deposits his lightsaber.

Inside is a dozen chiefs, who receive him with far less formality. They were picked from their various tribes, to coordinate the defense of Kashyyyk. They also controlled the defense of neighboring space, and the three moons. Called War Chiefs, they are a dozen members to form the Wookiee's military council. Their military forces varied in size and capability, none could be called a standing army. But if the council cooperated, they could pool their resources. Then a true Wookiee army could come into existence. If only a can-shell would appear, the Jedi thought. The council fully cooperating would be a rare sight. There was no threat to unite them, yet. But Gaarlof knew the Sith, knew they would eventually come for them.

After giving his report to the council, Gaarlof was kept up to date by the council. The Wookiees have begun to fortify their three vassal moons. Hangars for space ships, docks for trade, and orbital defenses. They wanted the moons to become small colonies, that could defend themselves and Kashyyyk. In this the military council agreed. However tribe chiefs were also working on the project. They were the true tribal leaders, not the war chiefs. Politics would stain the project, but it would keep grinding forward. Bowcasters are being produced in greater numbers, then stockpiled. Designs for Wookiee armor is drafted, and to be worked on. Ceremonial armor or whatever the independent fighters could make was slightly effective. The military council wanted better armor however, produced for blaster fights.

Gaarlof left the council in a good mood, at least something is getting done. He retires to his Wroshyr tree, greeted by the band. The band as they coined themselves were a score of Wookiees. For many reasons they had followed Gaarlof. They believed in the Republic, and would fight alongside their Jedi. The officers were all his personal friends. Enti greeted him at the door, Katz imprisoned in one arm. "Your aide thought to challenge me to strong-arm" was all the grizzled veteran said. Dropping Katz, he purred, and stepped out of the door way. Coming in, Gaarlof met the other three officers. "Alright everyone, your Jedi is being honored to feast with the city, military, and tribe councils. And his officers are going with him." This was met by roars and whimpers, but no one protested.

After many days of celebration and feasting, Gaarlof sends word back to the Republic and Order. He wishes to receive orders, or have them approve his plan of containing Onderon's spreading influence. To possibly help support the plan, he sends word that the Wookiee may well support this plan. The Republic is hungry for Kashyyyk's aid, and might try to appease them by approving the plan. Star ship reinforcements are requested along with the plan. His army is given a rest period, stationed on the moons. It was a smaller force, some ten thousand human Republic Troopers. Gaarlof deliberately keeps his army small. It made it easier to train and equip them better. Gracious donations from Kashyyyk also helps keep this small force well supplied. The core of the army however is the Wookiees who support the Republic. Given actual armor but keeping their homemade bowcasters. They inspired the common trooper, and also put a bit of fear into them. Translator droids were a frequent need, to keep communication in the green.

    Actions in need of mod;

Success of recruiting Wookiees into Gaarlof's Republic Army.

Success of fortifying and improving Kashyyyk's three moons.

Plans to make better Wookiee armor.

Republic Approval of Gaarlof's plans alongside reinforcements, or assign their own orders.

  5. Ripples of surprise spread throughout the Tairen camp. It would seem Hal had actually returned alive. Him and eight other men looked very worn out, but triumphant. Two of their party were missing, and some Tairen's took that as them being dead. The families of the two lost fall to their knees, wailing. The Searchers line the two sides of the camp, with Seeker Julius waiting at the end. Kneeling before the seeker, Hal then stands and grins.

"The things we have seen! Seeker! The feeling of something became more prevalent the closer we got to the heart mountain. The trees grew far taller the what we have seen, some tall as a mountain in their own right! When we got to the base, we made a rudimentary camp."

"And of the two that have not returned, what has become of them?'

"Well seeker...." Hal's face looks crestfallen. "Jun got bitten by a snake...swallowed whole to be more exact. We didn't get the chance to retaliate before it managed to slither back up a tree. Vile things. And I left Kel at the camp, to see what more he could find."

"And what did you find, Hal?

"The mountain soars, far above the clouds so that we could not see the peak. But... we found the entrance to a massive cavern. I did not enter it, as it's your right as Seeker to pave the way."

Julius lifts a hand to stay what else Hal has to say.

"Everyone! We leave at once, Hal has found a new question, one with a possible answer! Strike camp we move before night approaches! Hal, take twenty spears and return with all haste. I do not want Kel left alone with all the dangers the jungle provides.

The Tairens scuttle in hurry, quickly striking their small nomad camp. The family of Jun stays still, mourning his wretched death. The brothers of Kel gather their spears, and join Hal's growing party. They strike off soon after, in an attempt to reach the camp at the base of the Heart mountain. The whole camp would be close behind them.

As soon as Julius arrives, he will organize fifty spears. They will gather torches and three days of supplies, and strike into the cavern.

  6. The Jungle of Secrets...

It was a mysterious place, a place for only the strong. A dense fog usually covered the lower parts. The ground a thick carpet of rich decaying matter. Strange plants of all sorts of colors that glow day and night. Plants that could eat a man whole. Animals of such strangeness they'd please any king's menagerie. Snakes the size of small trees and with deadly bites. Spiders that could weave impossibly huge webs, and kill even large animals. Some jungle trees soared far into the sky, and were many times a man's width. Mountains soared high, their peaks locked in ice and snow. The heat was the worst, all pervading, it leeched a man's strength. Rivers flowed through, stocked with deadly fish and bacteria. This jungle could kill as quick as birth, soars as much as it falls. And amidst all this was a single little group. They navigated the jungle endlessly, searching for....something.

    -

Julius was tall, even for a Tairen's standard of height. Long golden locks flowed down to his midriff, some of it streaked with silver. His strength was apparent, though in a wiry sort of way. Tattoos blue and red ran all across his body, in pleasing geometrical patterns. His hearts mark was a star, just to the right of his left eye.Three short spears were strapped across his back. In his hand was a staff, made from one of the ancient bole trees in the jungle. This Tairen was angry, though he did not show it.

"Seeker we can't go on like this!" one tribesman pleaded. "We've lost so many already, for nothing! But yet you insist we go deeper, to search for something we don't even know if it exist!" Another took up the theme. "We want answers, not more questions, I say we head back to the mountains."

Before another could take up this line of thought, Julius quietly arched his eyebrow. Not a man of many words, his action spoke volumes. Everyone quickly trailed off, and silence filled the small encampment. The ring of Tairens looked at Julius, a pleading look on their faces.

Speaking in a quiet voice, one that made people lean forward to listen; "If you wish to go....then go. You did not have to chose the path I set, you can always leave. We still search, and I'm sure answers will come in their own time. Or perhaps you don't suggest we go, but demand? In which case, who challenges me for seeker?"

    Seeker

Seeker, the highest position in the Tairen hierarchy. The seeker led them all, led the search for mysteries unknown. The seeker held all the power, and was chosen from among the best of the Tairens. Of course one could always challenge the seeker to a battle. It became apparent no one really wished to test Julius, the Tairens sullenly kicking their feet and muttering. Until one, a youth, stepped forward.

"I do challenge the seeker, to a battle of the mind."

Shocked gasp ensued, as everyone looked doubtfully at this brave if foolish youth. Julius was an expert with the spear, but to test him to a battle of the minds! None could ever best him. Not showing any hint of what he felt on his face, Julius clapped his hands together loudly. "Bring the board"

The Tairens quickly searched through their supply train, and found the board. Checkered in red and blue, it was a beautiful master piece. One each side, pieces of colored stone are arranged. Sitting opposite of each other, Julius grants the first move to his challenger. The game was all of strategy, gambling, and above all, a sharp mind. It could take hours, and this one lasted for nearly a day and night. In the end however, the youth took on a crestfallen look. He was quite a genius, but Julius bested him. Sighing, the youth bared his throat, and gave his own dagger to Julius.

Standing up slowly, Julius regarded the dagger he has in his hand. Sighing, he cocked back his arm, and threw it with all his might... It whirled past the youth, and went hilt deep into a tree behind him. Red sap began to flow, disturbingly akin to a man bleeding out.

"Stand up, boy. I will defy custom just this once. You have a sharp mind, and we will need that as we search. What is your name?"

Eyeing Julius as the crowd of Tairens gasp in surprise, the youth stands up. "Hal, my Seeker."

"Well Hal, know this. Your life is mine now, and you will serve me as no other has. And I have a very important task for you. Take ten searchers, and head for the heart mountain. Explore it, search for an answer of some sort."

Lowering his head in resignation, Hal sets off at once. The mountain at the heart of the Jungle of Secrets has never been reached yet. But Julius was convinced something lay there, maybe a clue to lead him on his path. Either way, it would work in his favor. This young upstart would die, or they'd come one step closer to their goal....

    Republic of Euron

All throughout the past few weeks, the senate has been in session. Senators from the capital New Naples to the most far flung trade post have gathered. The Old Guard managed to narrowly get their military strategy passed. As the Republic awaits news of their military endeavor, other issues and legislation is raised. Coming into this council was a new and fledgeling party. The patriots as they called themselves had managed to gain a few seats. They were recently or long past assimilated Americans. Their goal was to ensure that they got fair treatment in this European Republic. Votes were being tossed around, on various issues. Parties found themselves divided or together, and were working at various angles.

The first piece of hotly debated issues is soon raised. The patriots managed to pull together and issue a new proposition to the voting floor. They planned for any new American seeking to join the Republic to be granted citizenship. Citizenship is highly values in Euron, granting full protection and rights. Though most European's had it, poorer sorts and Americans generally don't. The patriots argued they could not alienate new Americans seeking to join, being a valuable source of labor and skill. Taking sympathy with their argument, the Young Bloods and Merchants vote to pass it. The Old Guard though stoutly against it wisely choses to help pass it. They had bigger issues to worry about.

Leading to the second bit, language. As many of the Republicans came from different back rounds, the languages are diverse and many. This could lead to problems, and miscommunication if translators are not present. So the Old Guard proposes a new state language. It would be mandatory to learn, and used as the primary language for documentation and government. As many of the European languages stemmed from it, Latin is proposed as the state language. The patriots voted against it, but the Merchants were all for it. It would resolve their need for a standard form of language to document. This would ensure smoother transactions and records. The Young Bloods are divided, but enough votes pass the legislation into law. Latin schools are drafted to be built. Soon everyone would take obligatory classes, primarily children.

A third problem more then legislation is discussed. Though not containing a high population, ghouls and mutants did live within the Republic. It was agreed they could be useful and therefore not just slaughtered. The patriots were glad to have an even lower caste then the Americans, and were all for prosecuting them. Old Guard members abhorred the mutants, and together the two parties proposed a plan. The ghouls and mutants would be divided into small groups and spread throughout the Republic. This would ensure they couldn't rise together in large numbers. From there they would enter labor gangs draining marshes or farm as tenants. If they worked well they'd be paid, and eventually gain their citizenship. It is passed by a small margin.

An Old Guard general, Brian Macgowan, is appointed head of the Republic's armies. He's an Irishmen who had a forceful personality. Rude, loud, loyal, and overall Irish, he was just the man their armies needed. Receiving shipments of uniforms and arms from mysterious merchants, the Republic Guard was taking a uniform shape. They were a semi-professional standing army now, drilling every day. Brian would wander from regiment to regiment, ruthlessly running the men through exercises. Doing it right along with them, the men at first hate him. But they soon grew a fierce loyalty to this man, ordering them about so confidently. A special brigade is founded. Called the Swamp Fighters, they are exactly what they're named. Some thousand men from all corners of the Republic. They live, work, or have fought in the brutal radiation swamps of Florida. Their expertise was invaluable. Directly under Macgowan, they were experts in the swamp. A further thousand raw recruits are added to their force. With not much experience in swamp fighting, they were there to learn. Though high casualties were expected, the recruits that survive will add to the valuable ranks.

Word finally arrives of Euron's various efforts. A troop detachment sent up middle Florida discovers a military base. The armed party moves in, and sets up a defensive perimeter. They search for what's inside it, and prepare to cart it all back to the Republic. A weary town is stumbled upon, and the armed party stays back. Instead a ambassador speaking Latin and an American translator are sent to parlay. A factory is also found, and engineers begin to set up it to produce weapons. A different town found on the west coast offers to join the Republic. The only catch is they want self government, but Euron Senators grant them that. They are also offered to elect members to hold seats in the Republic's senate. Tribals assimilated into the Republic recently lead them to a fresh water source. Pipes are planned to be installed, to bring the water back to New Naples. (mod please)

The small Euron fleet sent to scout the southern coast is attacked by pirates. After two of the five ships are sunk, they fend the raiders off. They continue on their way. One armed group contracts measles in the swamps. With no proper medicine on hand, the majority of them die off.

    The Republic of Euron

The colonial council was streaming into the capital, what was once Naples. Nowadays the city is very different, having mostly been destroyed in the great war. The European refugees had rebuilt it, mainly using their own architecture styles. You could see quaint Dutch houses, sprawling French manors, German huts, and a riot of others. Enclosed with a wooden palisade, the city is small but well run. The streets were cobbled, and merchants lines them in their various booths. Almost like an ancient medieval city, New Naples is the Republic's pride and joy. Their harbors are usually full, with far flung merchants, their personal navy, and various fishing fleets. Barracks hold the Republican Guard, a make up of various men and women from all walks of life. They have a standard uniform, resembling English line soilders from world war one. Their weapons are a different case, as it's much harder to find. The colonial dragoons are the elite troops, all mounted on horse. They have sabers and carbines, and can fight mounted or on foot with equal skill.

The senators are escorted with honor guards of Dragoons, going to the heart of New Naples. Their reason to hold a session and travel from their various towns was simple. The need for new land was imminent, as the population was booming. Refugees from Europe and northern Florida stream in, and the first few generations of the Republic are growing up. But the Republic is divided into three distinct political parties. Holding the majority of the seats and power is the 'Old Guard'. Men and women entrenched in the ways of the land they had fled from. They wish to preserve the European way, and even spread it. Their argument was to head north, to take northern Florida. The 'Merchants' were exactly what they called themselves. They wanted to establish colonies elsewhere, to win over more trade routes. The last and smallest group is the 'New Blood'. Generations that have recently grown up and entered the political life. Their main wish was to develop the land, and improve what they already have.

After a three week session, the Old Guard finally won out. They got the other two parties to agree to fund a military campaign. Along with that, they would endorse a northern march, and join in with them. Some colonial towns and forts refused to send their militia, as was their right. All together however, some thousand dragoons, two thousand regulars, and four thousand militiamen are called to arms. Their mission would be to head north, spread out evenly in three groups. Keeping close enough to support each other, they would methodically clear the unknown land. Their plan was to consolidate the west coast, and the middle of Florida. Local trappers are hired into the army, to lead the men through the swamps and marshes. (Mod Please)

In Domestic affairs, things begin to look tight. The supplies to fund this army are crated north with them, and they were many. Wagons carrying the harvest and fish, spare weapons, camp followers, and all sorts of materials an army needs are taken. The New Bloods are outraged, and hold back a third of the materials their local colonies and trade post hold. This is instead spread throughout the Republic, to help it recover. The Old Guard and Merchants converge their wealth, to begin to drain swamps and marshes. This drained land would be converted to agriculture, to help feed the Republic. The west coast sends out trade ships, plying the southern American coast for potential factions or nations to trade with. (Mod/New Orleans Please)

Description of Faction/Nation-State: The 'Republic of Euron' is primarily a assortment of colonies along the Floridan coast line. Refugees from Europe who were lucky enough to sail the ocean had arrived at Florida in some numbers. Setting up these multiple colonies and trade post, they start to make it a new home. Their motto is to establish their own dream, one which does not usually coincide with the Americans. They are mostly western european, along with refugees who had fled west from the Balkans and Russian steppe. They're primary focus is a navy, to protect their trade and expand it. Friendly to all unless given a reason, the republic values trade and peace.

  11. Guardians of the Gate

Lee sighed contently, flicking away a cigar smoked down to the nub. It spun a few times, leaving a faint afterimage as it landed on concrete. Lee and his boys were getting prepared in their safe house. In reality just a warehouse just off the west side docks, it was humble for now. Clapping his hands together, Lee begins.

"Alright listen up bastards! I have gathered you all here today for a very special mission. As you can see we are lightly armed, but brute aggression is not the point today. Granted we shall be busting a few skulls in!" Lee finishes amiably.

Arrayed around him were his six best men and women, from all walks of life. They were vigilantes, the police they saw as a weak puppet. The whole point of their order was to keep the peace, at any cost. Recently small time gangs were trying to make a name for themselves. This did not bode well for the Guardians, and they planed to meet fire with fire.

Loading up into two separate SUVS, the vigilantes headed out. Lee decided to brief his men on the way, to ensure they knew the whole plan.

"The Spixados Amigos are a cartel plain and simple. Sadly they mean only for harm and profit, so we have to show them what's what. They have recently been encroaching on our turf in the foreign quarter. Small establishments funded by them are taking over, driving good immigrants out of business. We're going to raid a few of these places, a neighborly hello if you will!"

His team chuckled at the gallows humor, and prepared themselves. The first target was a restaurant, known to cater to many known cartel members. Who knew what else they could be doing in there? Two of Lee's men enter the restaurant, asking for a table. Getting a suspicious look but still seated, they begin to idly chat. Ten minutes later the front door is kicked in. Lee enters the scene with two men for back up.

    Two pistol shots ring out.

"Listen up Amigos!" Lee begins. "I don't like how you're running things, both inside and out. Not to mention the food's ****!" His gang chuckles, keeping their pistols trained on any man looking to make a move.

"So I have decided the best way to clean up a restaurant, burn it!"

    "Hold IT! Police!"

Lee's two men spring into action, drawing pistols and aiming at Lee himself. Cursing, lee and his two men dive for cover, as the restaurant erupts into chaos. Discreetly looking to the owner, Lee's men posing as police say. "We're with you" Before firing a few shots at lee. At this point they would hope the Cartel men would draw weapons as well, thus identifying themselves. As soon as that happens the fake police would open fire on them. Springing from cover, Lee and his two men would join the firefight.

As this was all happening, Lee's last two men would be outside. Discreetly sneaking round back, he would pile gasoline against the plaster walls. Lighting a molotov, he'd throw it right into the pile. Not hoping for a explosion but slow burn, he would retreat. Busting into the back where the kitchen is, he'd force them all to the ground and pop out the back. Taking any by surprise the way would be cleared. Lee and his men would make a getaway to the vans waiting out back. The message was clear, the cartel would be smoked out of the foreign quarters outer reaches.

  13. All Nation's Levies have been effectively raised! (Besides Norway and Castile who just started, and those who did not start at all)

    France

Twelve thousand levies, three thousand mercenaries

Most of France's troops have the time to train, and can now hold a formation somewhat better. This counts nothing for hard earned experience however. As for armoring the entire army, it became a momentous task. Scores of blacksmiths would be needed, but work begins..

    Almohads

    Twelve thousand levies

    Connacht

    Nine hundred levies

    Leinster

One thousand levies, five hundred european mercenaries

    Norway

The expedition sets off with little fan fare, the common folk shunning the rambunctious crew. Time would tell how the start of the voyage works out. The Inner provinces begin to starve, as the fish is usually stolen by small time lords and sold back to the peasants. The Inner Provinces are experiencing a large starvation issue now.

    Castile

The Spanish could not simply raise their troops and conquer willy nilly. They did however announce their intents to their enemies. Leon and Navarre quickly make a pact of common cause, and raise their levies. Portugal does the same, but they keep their intentions unclear. Iberia is turning into an armed camp....

"Diarmat, Connacht claims we will sell us all to the English, and you're a vain and greedy villain."

The hall fell silent as the messenger rushed in and delivered his message. It did not remain silent for long however, as the assorted chiefs burst into laughter.

"I don't see and bleeding English here, do I?!" Diarmat exclaimed whilst wiping a tear from his eye.

The hall spent the next minute or two mock searching for English. They were very adept, searching behind chairs, looking into their cups of wine, and checking the stables to see if a stray English was under a pile of manure. Sadly they could not satisfy Connacht's outrageous claim. The hall's mirth died down as Diarmat cleared his throat.

"I hope he realizes he's the one invading a kingdom. And I can guarantee even now he's trying to find a foreigner's skirts to hide behind. It makes no matter though, our men have been gathered. One thousand good lads, ready to fight to defend their brothers from Munster. And mercenaries have just arrived in Dublin. One hundred hedge knights, three hundred flemish pike, and a hundred welsh long bowman. Munster has also sent word back, we will join together under common cause!"

The hall erupts yet again into roars of approval and joy. They Leinster chiefs believed in their king, they knew he would do the best for them. A night of celebration is declared before they move out. Dublin rings with noise, as the feast ensues.

    --

The next day, Diarmat heads out with his army in tow. They would gather with the king of Munster and his eight hundred men, and from there head north. The joint army would force the Connacht army into an open battle, where strategies would be determined at that time.

Connacht is offered once chance to surrender, after that there will be no mercy.

  14. Holy Roman Empire

Word comes back from the Pope. He accepts the Emperor's offer to come to Rome and offer himself. As for the old rights that need restoring, they would need to speak of it further. The Pope sends a secret missive, dictating things that would please him. Perhaps please him enough to restore old rights, and add some on top of them.

Denmark sends word back that they would accept a military alliance. However they wish for a few terms to be made clear. Besides trade, Denmark demands the HRE cuts ties with all other Scandinavian states. They wish for Sweden and Norway primarily to be alienated. Alongside that, Denmark wishes for the castle of Hamburg. Lower Loraine accepts the alliance offer as well. Pisa denies the offer, asking instead for a trade partnership. Intending to compete with Venice, Pisa wants an ally that will prove itself before they go further in strengthening ties.

    England

The peasants begin to be fed, Henry showing it's genius and cunning as always. His generosity or appearance of it heartened many a noble and peasant. As for the levies, England's richer provinces are called upon. Mustering troops would take some time, especially to gather them all together. But all in all, a full fifteen thousand men can be expected.

    Kingdom 'O Leinster

King Diarmait sat in his hall in Dublin, content and very drunk. Around him were his family and closest chiefs, all celebrating. The cause was indeed one worth taking note, the coming of a French ambassador. One of the first foreigners from a royal court to be accepted, it was a splendid occasion. If some chiefs laughed behind the frenchman's back, that was all well and good. The ambassador looked like a popinjay compared to the chiefs garb. Even the king wore traditional Irish garb, cut off trousers bearing their legs and a loose tunic. The Ambassador however was bedecked like a normal man of any European court.

Some days later, Diarmait brought the Ambassador in for a formal talk.

"Now, frenchman, I'd like to introduce you to how things work in Ireland. You notice Connacht getting antsy, eh? - Well it's actually all well and good that they have, really, it is. I expected this, and they shall play into my hand. So what would you do?"

"Muster an army, and smash them of course, monsieur."

"Well in due time maybe, but we Irish are more clever, or at least in Leinster. The king of Munster as it happens owns the land that is now being infringed upon. I have just sent him a contract dictating a partnership of common cause. In short, I will support Munster. But first I must make my money from Dublin, gather my men, and sell some cattle. So we will not rush off at the first sound of a fight, we shall prepare. That is all, return to your daily business."

As the ambassador goes to leave, the king calls him one more time

"Oh and Frenchman, I'm robbing you"

    "Mon-"

Before the Ambassador could even finish, several Irishmen surround him in a circle of spears. More men pilfer the Ambassador's room, taking the large amounts of gold the French king had given him for the journey. Outraged the Ambassador stops talking as Diarmait holds his hand up.

"We shall still be friends, but I need your money for mercenaries. Tell your king this, I may of robbed you, but I will pay him back in something far more precious.....land"

    -

All across Leinster, free men are called upon to fight for their king. Diarmait proclaims to Connacht that he will not start a war, but will merely help Munster reclaim what is theirs. Dublin itself also is tasked to raise a contingent of European mercenaries. With money from the city, cattle, and one ruffled French Ambassador, a few hundred mercenaries were hoped to be recruited. Only time would tell how many troops will answer the call or be bought however.

Mod Needed for; Troop count on raises freemen, and amount of mercenaries bought/If Munster agrees to common cause against Connacht.

  15.

    Norway

King Haakon's plan was indeed met with a great round of applause. However some nobles did not wish to lend their ships for no profit. Some did not want to feed the small folk from their pockets as it's soon put. Discontent began to rise, some lords mumbling. They are a minority and not a threat however as most Norwegian lords on the coast try to help. Soon fishing fleets are pulling in decent catches, feeding the coastal lands. Another problem presents itself however, transporting the fish. The road and logistic situation makes it hard to feed the inner provinces. Fishing is a beginning however....

People are skeptical to follow Sturluasson on his mad expedition. Small folk are not eager to leave their land for an uncertain horizon. Many youths, mercenaries, vagabonds, and criminals soon however make their presence known. These men could be recruited if chosen. If so work would begin to plan and prepare the expedition.

    Venice

The various Italian states tied to the Holy Roman Empire did agree with the various courtiers. They valued independence, and for the most part had it. They however enjoyed the protection it could potentially provide. The states are content to stay in their present station, as long as it proves lucrative. More radical lords however beg to differ. Some trouble begins to brew, for now mutters in the dark.

Though things seem to be bearing fruit in Italy, Venice itself faces a domestic problem. The rich merchants of the Republic enjoy a degree of power. Their Doge trying to infringe on a business ill suit them. They did not want him and his family controlling too much of the wealth of power.  For now taking a bank would ferment trouble. More ships begin to be produced.

    Byzantines

Two thousand levies are raised from each of the provinces called upon. It will take time to form, but they are doing so in at a good pace. The rebellion is known to be small, a minority stirring trouble up. Cicillia is not willing to pledge to the Byzantines under vassalage. However they agree something must be done and offer to raise their own contingent. Determined to defend hearth and home, five thousand troops begin to muster. The elite troops are mustered efficiently in Constantinople. They are almost ready to move, but it will require a costly bill.

    Rum

Spies begin to slip into Byzantine cities. However they find it hard to establish a reliable information network. It's hard to get word out and back across the border. However the reports that get through indicate hints of Byzantine troops being raised but nothing more. The spies intending to sow dissent find little to do. The rebel minorities are in the country and still small. Mosul accepts a trade agreement. Levies directly raised in Konya begin, and word will spread to all parts to muster. Almost twenty thousand levies could be expected.

    Jerusalem

The people of Harim are discontent but not rebellious, so far. They are willing to listen to these promises of benevolence. Words speak louder then deeds however, as muslims wait to see what will come of it. Humphrey successfully reaches Byzantium.

    Abbasids

The Sunni's respect that the Caliph's own son came to inspire them. They however dislike his character, though he charms them. A grand movement however is unobtainable, as anything would start in patch works. Most would not wish to break the peace with blood. Not without good cause, or proof. Proof such as if the Abbasids could take Atef.

The Abbasids begin to raise ten thousand levies. They cannot march yet however as it will take time to gather them. They could chose to keep raising their levies, to further increase their numbers. The wealth of the kingdom is well put. However large amounts of levies or a war could hurt the coffers.

    Alba

The Irish chiefs barely accept the title of an Irish king, let alone a high king. Unless a large threat presented itself, Vassalage wouldn't be considered.

    Holy Roman Empire

King Alfonso I looked out upon his court as the messenger stood there with a letter in his hand, Alfonso peered down on the messenger opening his mouth to say something, "Speak." Alfonso's face turned sour as the news was displeasing to him, he raised his head to speak, "Ride out gather the lords and call for the levies to be raised." The messenger nodded and left the room.

    1160, Summer

The fields are all empty, the harvest having been taken in. Peasants across the land are content. For almost every nation, the harvest has been bountiful. Sadly that is not the case everywhere. In English held France for instance, the harvest has gone rather poor. It was saved, but villages will still starve. Norway is also experiencing a poor harvest. In Norway, the nobility calls for expansion. If purely for resources, they know they must fight for survival in the north.

In the Byzantine Empire, Muslim rebels primarily in the Anatolia province are clamoring for secession. They have already occupied several government buildings in the cities itself. In the countryside it is more hostile, but loyalties are highly mixed. It'll be up to the Romans to see what they can do.

In Swabia, the Roman Emperor holds a precarious grip. Sure their best ally, Lombardy, will staunchly support them. But it may not be enough, as both north and south Bavaria are looking on Swabia with greed. Things in Germany are turing into an armed camp fast......

Genoa's colony in Crimea is a lucrative business indeed. However they are under a constant threat of expulsion. Hordes of nomads are happy to trade for now, but one wrong move and it can turn to war.

Sweden is the rising power in the Baltic. They move at an even pace, forming strong alliances with several Nordic tribes, ensuring the north is secure.

The Muslim, Christian, and Pagan realms of Europe, North Africa, and the Near East are about to plunge into a series of bloody conflicts. A grand story that will write history… in blood.

    =+= In The Near East

The position of Sunni Caliph is weakening in power, he lost control over the vast Abbasid Caliphate after it was shattered by decadence revolts following the formation of the crusader state of Jerusalem. Each Muslim (Sunni) is on high tensions, waiting for their chance to grab the title of Caliph and crown themselves leader of the Faith of Islam.

=+= The Byzantine Empire and Anatolia

The Greeks, or true Romans by their own account, have lost a large swath of land to the Seljuk Horde. Many of these conquering horse lords have settled into the Sultanate of Rum, swearing allegiance to one ruler. Will the newly solidified nation turn its sights south to expansion into the Muslim World? Or will it attempt to forge a new Muslim Empire in the West and push forth against the Byzantines? Will the Greeks form an offensive to retake their lost lands? Or will they forge a steadfast defense in the east and turn their sights to their slavic neighbors?

    =+= The Holy Roman Empire

Neither holy, nor roman, nor an empire, the Holy Roman Empire is made up of a loose confederation of feudal German and Italian lords. In the center of Germany, Fredrick Barbarossa claims the title of Holy Roman Emperor. However his claim is weak and many lords reject his rule or have plots to claim the throne for themselves? Can the confederation join under one true liege as a Empire? Or will the states forge a massive alliance to expand the sphere of German influence and divide land amongst themselves?

    =+= The Lands of France

The western lords of France have been stolen by England, in an uneasy deal, the feudal lords of the West now owe their allegiance to the King of England. The French Monarchy has made a joke of itself in the past years, but will it be able to turn around its decline and reunify France?

=+= The Melting Pot of the Western World: Iberia

A bloody conflict has erupted as the Kingdom of Asturias shatters. Four Kings; Léon, Castille, Portugal, and Aragon will inevitably clash to unify the Christian states of Iberia. The large Almohad Sultanate shows no notion of northward advance, instead it is focused on the turmoil of the former Abbasid Caliphate. However, there is a state ready to enter the conflict. The Mardanisid Sheik looks to the feuding Christian states and sees opportunity. Will he rally his armies for a frontal assault? Perhaps he will use diplomacy and gain an ally with one of the kings and support their claim?

    =+= The British Isles

Scotland has been freed from Nordic influence, but there are still outlying holdouts for the Kingdom of Norge's british invasion. While the Scottish finish throwing the Norse from their homeland, they also brew a jealousy for England's power and its interference with continental politics. In Ireland, four tribal kings fight for control of the hills, the king of Meath claims High Kingship over all of Ireland... and this has caused some tension. England's native  lords are becoming angry that their King is focusing much of their resources and soldiers on holding French lands, but the crown seems focused on expanding the nation's influence. Will the King of England be able to convince his lords to his nationalistic view? Will the four kings of Ireland topple this 5th 'High King' or will they try to grab the throne for themselves? Is Scotland finally at peace... or will it turn its sights to the rest of the Isles?

    =+= The Republics

Three major Italian city states wage a war of gold and ships, trying to gain control of the waves. Genoa has founded a new trading port in Crimea, opening the Black Sea to their coffers. In the far north the Boyars of Novogrod have forged a republic, will they turn their own sights to the ocean and form a republic to rival the Italians?

    =+= Italian Peninsula

The northern Italian lords have sworn into the massive pact of the HRE, however to their south an ambitious Sicily has unified a piece of the peninsula. Will the northern lords turn their attention South? To swear under Sicily and make a unified Italy... or to forge their own alliance and defend against this new ambitious King.

    =+= Scandinavia and the Baltic

The kingdoms of Sweden and Norge have become bitter rivals. Dispute over the lands of the mountain borders and over trade rights have caused the nations to close trade routes with each other. While the two superpowers fume, the Finnish and norse tribes mobilize for war with each other. Kola and Kemi have entered an alliance known as the Fino-Pact, in defense from the merchants of Novgorod and the hostile norse tribes. Mechanics

Armies; As it is Feudal times, every state will rely on the backbone of any Feudal army. The Levy. No nation will start out with a standing army, the only exceptions being the Merchant Republics. For a nation to raise an army, they must clearly state that is their intention. Instead of them deciding how many troops they can raise, it will be up to a moderator. Depending on several factors such as wealth, noble-king relations, peasant-king relations, justification for raising the levy, and so forth. A nation who manages their people well and keeps them happy can raise a substantially larger army then a nation wracked with trouble.

Holy Roman Empire; The Holy Roman Emperor is playable, and he is in direct control of Swabia only. After that players can chose any german state. It is recommended they become german states who have an electorship in the HRE. After that it is up to the players and events to see what will become of the HRE. It is a very loose confederation, one can break or try to support it.

Troop Travel/Muster Time; Do not expect things to roll at a fast pace. This is the feudal times, with very little infrastructure. It will take considerably longer to move an army from one point to another. If the army is large, they will move even slower. So do not expect for example to move an army across Iberia in a matter of days. In reality it will take much longer, which a mod will make clear. The same goes for putting together an army. It'll take time for your lords to show up with their levy, and to amass enough supplies.

War; It'll go as it usually does battle wise. The two players will square up, state their numbers and tactics, and leave it to the mods to decide the outcome. However besides basic battles a few new things will be incorporated. Sieges take time, and to storm it means to lose many men in the attack. Besiegers will need to have supply lines, or feed of the country side. On the other hand the defenders will have to last as long as their supplies, and keep morale up. As for an army being in enemy territory, they will have a few options. You can cart supplies in from your own land, live off the enemies land, or buy what you take.

News; Alongside troop travel time, news takes longer to spread. For example if France smashes an English army and sweeps in to retake their land, the English will not instantly be aware of it. What we're trying to say is be realistic in how fast news will travel, because you can't react instantly to things happening farther away then a close proximity.

Trade/Economy; For now there will be no economic system because people usually can't comprehend mathematics, and it ends up breaking down. For the sake of simplicity your economy will depend on a few things, how good your harvest was, how good your trade is, the size of your army/navy, and if you're at war or not. Trade will be down to just simple trade pacts, however trade routes may become a thing. Merchant Republics have a boost in this area, as they start out in control of trade spheres (as shown in the map).
