    The Confederacy

California claiming it's independence shocked and invigorated Confederates throughout the U.S. They were disgusted at Jeb's turn to federalist status, and he was kicked out as Confederate party leader. Radical Elijah Wintersun was elected new leader, and he clamored for the states to hear his opening speech. All of the United States tuned it, wondering what a radical Confederate could possibly mean to do.

"What brings me here today is something not to be taken lightly. California was the first to rise against the federalist, and I intend it to not be the last- quite the opposite-. They prove their justification, and have tried to leave a Union they no longer believe in. So the U.S dredges up an old law, and enacts it. Their invasion of California is justified but still horrible. What I call to my fellow Confederates and states is this, secede from the union. *A brief pause as he allows the world to be shocked* As Confederate party leader I enact our secession plan, and call for every person to listen to their state leaders. Even now I'm sure forces will mobilize against us, and we must be ready. I shall leave now to begin our great plans, but I ask every true Confederate and southerner to support this endeavor whole heartedly. A civil war is no dandy prospect, but the U.S started it when they marched on California before trying for diplomacy. We will rise."

    Everyone was shocked, things had seemed to be going so well. Jeb Goodman was tilted off the pedestal, abandoned by his fellow Confederates and mistrusted but the federalist. He would resign as secretary of state, and retire to his ranch in Texas. All the states eyed each other, seeing what they would do. Louisiana was the first to seceded, and formed the Confederate States of America (CSA). State Militia led by veteran officers loyal to their state for the most part rose with Louisiana, and seized all the important cities. Other states soon followed secession and were admitted into the CSA, being, South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Virginia, Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina, New Mexico, Missouri, Oklahoma, Kentucky, and Kansas. It would be an utter shock that so many seceded and joined the CSA, one that could prove deadly. Standing together, they formed a basic plan;

An emergency government is established in New Orleans, to lead the fledgeling nation. Commanding the newly formed Confederate People's National Army (CPNA), comprised mainly of State Militia leading droves of newly enlisted Confederate's. They were armed from the multiple warehouses and strongholds carefully being built up by Firebrands. The guns were of modern technology and armament, multiple foreign benefactors seeing they would have more guns then men. They would seize and stabilize all the major Confederate cities, and quickly move into to surround and isolate federal troops. Not opening fire or engaging, they would merely surround them and wait for Collier's response. Acting quick had denied the Federal's advantage to muster their men, and communication lines were blocked or cut. Leaving them alone and small, they would merely sit tight in their outpost, waiting to see what happened.

Firebrands would lead groups of militia and volunteers, on special task to secure the rivers running through the new nation. Riverboats armed with whatever could be put on them patrolled the waters. Advanced river assault vessels from a foreign benefactor were very small in number but used effectively. The CSA emergency government passed multiple acts, giving each state it's own full rights and ability to draft their own laws. Mandatory taxes of troops, supplies, and money would remain so the new emergency government could win any civil war. After that, the nation would begin to actually figure out how to run their Confederation, but for now they needed a united front. The people believed they had the moral high ground against the U.S, and began to enlist. Large flocks of untrained troops were armed, and put to training. Undergoing intense and fast training, they were getting all they could get before the U.S inevitably invaded. Army regiments actually came over to the Confederate's turning their backs on the Union. Mainly in the south, they applied their expertise to the ongoing training.

Firebrands would play off the new fears and start riots across the remaining Union states, some even trying to push them into secession. In Panama they effectively established themselves and are tipping the balance in rebel favor against the government. In the UK the tensions remain high especially as the nation goes to war. People claimed the royalist attempts at compromise was not enough, and protested and had sit ins at factories, slowing war production. Firebrands instigated fights with UK officials, adding to the growing violence. In Russia, the Firebrands merged with an already rioting populace. Escalating things further, they also began to open the Russian people's eyes to how truly imperialist Putin was.

The CSA called upon president Collier to merely let the new nation be, and they would to his. People who wanted to be in the Union, army regiments, and political figures would be allowed a safe cordon to the U.S. The Emergency government hinted at partnership, but they would no longer work under the United States. The emergency government also calls on every nation to officially recognize them as a nation, and potentially offer diplomatic pacts.

((I have pok's pre approval for the states that seceded, and amounts of navy and army going over to me.))

Secretary of State and Confederate political party leader Jeb Goodman addressed national television on affairs in the U.S and abroad.

"I now stand as an active political leader in the United States, and promise to meet Confederate party demands. Laws have already been passed to benefit the states, and all is planned to go well. That is not why I address you all today, instead I come to speak about the alleged european problems. Sweden made a choice to expel people not agreeable to them or their state. Is this a violation of human rights? The answer is obviously yes, but it can be justified, like anything else. I condemn the old Confederation for slavery, but I fully understand why it was so important to them. Sweden also has not annexed nations, or dare to go as far as Russia and engage in actual fighting with other states. Russia is the true nation people should keep an eye on, but isn't everyone else worthy of that title as well? Someone..or Someone's create confusion, make a puppet enemy, and act behind that. It benefits all but the people who actually need the benefits. So why such massive international condemnation on a single violation of human rights when it's so rife in the past -and present- , and other nations are lobbing shells into other peoples. As secretary of state in the United States and Confederate party leader I state that maybe states like Russia should desist in their expansion. I also shall loudly proclaim people who are to blame besides the two stars of the show, no one is faultless. Thank you, and I hope I have opened your ears."

    The Confederacy

Talks continued in Richmond, with nothing really seeming to change. Firebrands still spread their influence in American cities, and instigated fights and riots. In fact, the riots in Chicago, Atlanta, and New York were becoming so bad as to drag notice. The Federals were blocked from federalizing State Militia or sending in troops to Atlanta, and they managed to make it a State job. State Militia move into the city of Atlanta, to quell the unrest. As engineered, Firebrands don't resist and bid the Confederate patriots to back down. Of course others didn't pull to their stings and continued, but the State militia did it's job right and well. Moving in and peacefully breaking up the rioters, they made a good example. Their success is praised in the media, and the quick action showed to some Confederate efficiency and changed their minds. In Chicago and New York City however, the Firebrands did not melt away. Still acting as regular people, they resisted and had others do it with them. Molotovs and small arms fire drove away the cops, making it a deadly battlefield. Stores were looted and people murdered, in hopes to show Federal inaction. It was up to the president whether to send in troops or not, and the results would be large either way. Riots and unrest were spreading, some not entirely because of Firebrand meddling. America was generally taking a turn for the worst as tension and politics pulled it further and further apart.

Shipments of weapons from a foreign benefactor are smuggled in through New Orleans. Unmarked and modern grade weapons are soon in the Confederate's weapon pallet. Firebrands are given some, the rest tucked away into warehouses. The police and state militia in the south and other Confederate leaning states are mostly under their control. Through corruption, money, and moral views they have kept the grip tight. Passing acts for states to control more of their pay means they lose money but gain more loyalty. Money from political members and abroad is spent trying to transplant communities, buy loyalty, and maintain infrastructure in the south. Confederate influence is spreading through California, with San Francisco at it's heart. People still see themselves as Americans, just with different views.

In congress, the Confederate party is pushing for a diplomatic change. They argue a royalist England means trouble for them. They were certain to cause issues in Europe, and why should the U.S meddle with it? They should focus on their own issues, and worry less about foreign policy. They also push for the passage of a total lift on the embargo of Cuba. The times were to modern, and the troubles long ago. A valuable trade partner, especially to the south, would help ease financial strain. In another attempt to effect politics, Confederates want a more lucrative set of deals with South American countries. They also argued America should make more revenue by selling it's surplus agriculture to states such as Saudi Arabia and India

Pierre Mountwalsh was from the french quarter of New Orleans, and a secessionist and Firebrand to the bone. Having joined the mysterious group five years ago, he rose from a hustler to leader of the entire operation. Jeb was annoying him with his middle path, but was something that could wait. Instead, he was too occupied with covert operations. Leaving instigation and escalation to his underlings in the U.S, he and his core group of people move abroad. In Panama they begin to merge with terrorist or rebel groups, trying to destabilize the government. With good quality arms and training, they begin to make a difference in the balance of power. In the United Kingdom, they begin to increase the tension. Muslim is pitted against Englishmen, adding powder to the keg. More importantly however is Firebrand support of the lower classes and liberals. How dare the King and his puppet even suggest that in 2038 they should have a return to English nobility claiming seats in the house of lords if they have enough money? That had opened people's eyes and with help from Firebrands and other organizations they were able to fight back speak out against the royalist. Striking and protesting were all for now, but the protestors numbers were growing against the royalist and King.

    The Confederacy

Things in the United States of America had been spiraling ever downwards. Climate change and lowering resources had gone ignored, no one doing anything. Their only effort the levees, the federals had a lot to prove. Increasing taxes and loss of state power infuriated many, demanding local rule. Nothing was being done they argued, and America and her infrastructure were crumbling. Congress did nothing but grab for more power, and democracy -at least their form- was a failed experiment. Even with all this, people respected the Union and were trying to work within it. That's where the Confederacy comes in, a legal political party and corporate owner. They wanted state rights, if not total secession. Let people govern themselves, they know what is best. Instead of a far away inactive federal government, let people lead their fellow statesmen. Their beliefs were deeply embedded in the south, where they still remembered the first Confederacy. Racial tensions were high, adding to it all. Few stated outright they wanted slaves back, but many were not afraid to discriminate on blacks, muslims, and others.

The Confederacy owned businesses in most of America's primary areas, through key members of the party. A lot of the money in infrastructure, they donated and had their companies maintain it in the south. Oil companies in foreign shores provided oil, and local wood companies harvested the forest carefully. Real estate was bought up, and common members of the party encouraged to move into developing communities. Transplanting people this way was typical, and used to spread their influence or boost Confederate friendly constituents. In congress they tried to pass laws such leaning towards state rights, with some success. In the past few years they managed to make the national guard far more in the states rule. They had it so a state could overrule a president's federalization of their militia. Some southern states such as Louisiana went so far as to officially name it the State Militia yet again. The sphere of power was mainly in the south, and the heart of the Confederacy in Louisiana. Outlying and northern states were contested for, people on both sides. Surprisingly, another stronghold of the Confederacy was based in California.

The leader of the Confederacy political party is Jeb Goodman, from the state of Texas. He was heard to jokingly say he is the Yin to president Collier's yang. A devout christian, and also a human rights activist. Jeb lived on a large southern styled ranch in Texas, where he liked to spend his free time with his wife and family. Free time was scare however, as he became more involved in politics. He had rose to champion the Confederacy's cause, and had done so well. Their president was certainly Texan, but his own statesmen mainly refused to stand behind him. Jeb graciously sent word back to president Collier that he would entertain a meeting. Proposing to meet in Richmond, Virginia, he travels there by private jet. A subtle reminder of the past, paired with a not so subtle eruption of Confederate parades growing in Richmond. Firebrands moved in covertly to secure the area, but were sternly ordered to keep well away from the diplomatic meeting. Legality had to be observed, Jeb still hoped their was a way to get what he and his party wanted and stay within the constitution.

The CSA did not outright violate the constitution. They instead lobbied, acted in legality, participate politically, and influence and direct the public. There were others, unknown to most for that. No official name was given to a group not officially linked to the Confederacy. Labeled as 'The Firebrands' they are a terrorist and political organization. Actively trying to aid the secessionist cause, they did not always act outright. Right now, they were primarily focussed in big cities trying to fuel to the chaos. Actively seeking fights, inflaming racial tensions, and aggravating cops. Not proclaiming themselves Firebrands and instead acting as ordinary people, they were all just more people in growing conflicts. Their paramilitary were in Richmond and San Francisco, starting riots, killing political and military. In Richmond particularly the riots were bad, and the federal government was being blamed for them. Firebrands tried to create events that the U.S could be blamed for, an attempt to shift public opinion.

New Orleans was the unofficial capital of the CSA, and paramilitary Firebrands dared to even patrol some neighborhoods. The city has always been rich from trade and tourism, and was growing. San Francisco was being transplanted with more and more Confederacy friendly people, whole communities celebrating the cause. Guns and drugs flowed into Texas from Mexico, and the Firebrands were there to control the trade. Using this in turn to make or control criminal cartels, they spread their influence in the underworld. The guns primarily were distributed through out the Firebrands, arming their hardline followers. Warehouses and strongholds were stock piled with guns, in the inevitable time to arm the many in need.

  5. Nation Selected: Secessionist/Terrorist Movement "The Confederacy" of the United States
Did you read the State of Nations? (secret word): PokPLZ

Do you understand the rule regarding technology?: yes

Little Backstory: A political group with power in local and federal levels, with a secretive terrorist group to back them up. Their official party is the Confederacy and their flag that of what it was during the civil war. Not denying or preaching of slaves, they instead focus on state rights. Congressional gridlock and federal inaction have made some states weary. Taxes raises but yet infrastructure and asocial order crumbles, and the Confederacy wants change.

Called the Fire Brands, the terrorist group dedicated to the Confederacy is hard line. Instead of unsubtle assaults on Federal land, they try to turn public opinion against them through events. Manipulating politics, and events, they further the cause. With limited resources so far they have to get creative, and find ways to beat a vastly more armed foe.

    House Stark

Wymun Manderly and his escort left Casterly Rock quiet and cold as ever. They would begin the long trek home, stopping to speak with the Freys. Upon his return, messages were sent to Rodrick Stark faring the news. Work begins in the wolfswood to harvest wood. It would then be carted south and sold off to the Lannisters. What other trading commodities were sent to the Frey in return for food and gold. The going was slow to get to the Twins, and Rodrick suggested the Freys build a new road to link them more directly to the north.

Lord Bolton's letter showed a lot of things, and importantly, he was willing to work for Rodrick. He clearly wanted respect -which he deserved at that point- and had a stiffness to him. Rodrick grinned looking all too like a wolf, and enacted orders to benefit the pair. Troops from Winterfell would head to White Harbor under the command of a Robett Glover. From there they would wait for the Bolton's to send their men. The Stark transports would transport them to garrison the Isles, under guard from the ten warships. When all the men had ben transported, the fleet would harbor in Sisterton. Frequent patrols with groups of Starks and Boltons would combat any piracy or prying eyes. Smuggling operations still went underway to the Mountain Clans. Ship builder's from White Harbor are sent off to Widow's Watch, the Manderlys being told by Rodrick to help the Bolton's make a navy. They would be paid well, and more money went into helping the Boltons make the ships.

A trading post is to be built at Moat Cailin, in an effort to link the North to the south. Their raw resources and lumber would go out, and all sorts of Southron goods would come back in. The garrison there under Lord Nyle Hornwood was stiffened with Winterguard, to keep a careful eye on the southern road. The Reeds make appearances to deliver messages and trade, but besides that remain in the swamp. Greywater Watch remains a mystery, but it's patrols keeps people from avoiding Moat Cailin. Rodrick sends a letter to the wall, asking after his son and any reports of wildlings.

Their were many mountain clans technically under Stark rule to the north. Flints, Norreys, Hulls, they all lived in the flinty rolling mountains. Their life was drab and boring, and they lived off of hardy mountain goats. No one bothered them from the outside, but their champions were warriors of skill. They were good with the sling and axe, and could fend for themselves. But they ignored the Stark's more oft then not, and Rodrick wanted that changed. Word is brought to the tribes that King Rodrick Stark will be touring their land as an assurance of good will. He wishes his vassals in the hills to receive him well, and he will bring enough food and gold to feast each clan in turn. The real point was to bring the clans into the Stark fold once again, and start getting taxes and their revered champions to fight for them. He would lead a retinue of three hundred Winterguard, four hundred light infantry, and nearly two hundred retainers, lords, servants, and others. Such numbers were unheard of in the mountain clans, and it would be a intimidating factor.

House Stark, Kings of the North

King Rodrick Stark sat brooding in his throne. Some things were going as he wanted, but others were not. They held the Arryn islands still, but the Boltons held sway there. That was not entirely bad, but he still did not know if he could trust his vassal. Only ruling for two years, Remus Bolton had yet to show his true colors. In the south the southrons brewed, as tensions increased. They were forming unlikely alliances and building fleets, all of it could be good or bad. He would react, tactically and state like as he always did. Some would credit Rodrick as a slow man, but he was smart. He may take his time to think out what he wants, but because he is analyzing every part. Calculating and as relentless and slow as ice, he was a force to content with. His vassals stayed with him out of respect and loyalty to the Starks, and would remain loyal.

Jeor Mormont and Rodrick's steward entered the throne room, clearly not keen on interrupting his brooding. They were quicker, more to the point. Jeor was not a man to be left waiting, even if it was for King Stark. After bowing they both stood up, and to the point as ever Jeor began.

"My king, the Ironborn have taken Bear Island. Out forces are left leaderless and routed, trying to make their way back through the wolfswood to Winterfell. I have been able to keep Flint's tied down with my own levy's, but the stony shore is not well defended. My su-"

"Enough" snarled Rodrick as his patience snapped.

"I am king, do you think I do not know this. *composing himself* I am sorry brother, but the times try me so. I have knowledge of what is going on, and I know what we are to do. I am sending Lord Cerwyn to pick up the survivors, and bring them to Deepwood Motte. I will send my personal levys as well to help prepare to take the island back.  From there I can chose where to send them. I want you to go back to Flint's Fingers, with my own personal troop resting here. We must show the Ironborn we are strong against any raid."

On and on Rodrick went, making sure his policies were understood to the letter. Jeor Mormont left that way at the head of a column of two hundred Winterfell trained swordsmen. They would pick up troop from White Harbor, Torrhen's Square, and Moat Cailian along the way. From there they would rally in Flint's Finger and keep an eye out for any Ironborn marauders. Two thousand light infantry, one thousand light cavalry, and one thousand heavy infantry are raised from Winterfell. Under the command of Lord Tallheart, he would head out at a slower pace then Lord Cerwyn. They would arrive to help bolster Deepwood Mottes garrison. White Harbor is asked how many more warships they could expect to build, and to send a report back. They are also told to raise and garrison a force of three thousand foot, and two thousand heavy infantry.

Moat Cailin kept the neck safe as ever, and the Reeds remained loyal to the Stark's. They would help keep the swamps clear, limiting any traffic north. Merchant caravans did go south however, to ply their wares in Fairmarket and further abroad. One such merchant  caravan did however go all the way to Casterly Rock, with Lord Wymund Manderly leading them. At the head of a small troop of thirty winterguard, they would camp outside and ask for an audience. If granted so, Manderly and five others would head into the lion's den.

    "And what shall we do with Lord Bolton" Rodrick's steward began, but stopped as he received Rodrick's icy look. Sighing, and rubbing the bridge of his nose, the king began;

"I trust him as far as I can throw a direwolf, for now. He has his uses, that is for sure, and some of my vassals decree loudly. Well then we shall see if their new lordling can prove himself. Send word to Lord Remus the form of a herald. Make sure he has winterguard keeping him safe, though I don't suspect anything. Lord Remus shall be instructed to use my transports in White Harbor to move most of his men to the Three Sister's, Rebble, and The Pap's. I do not rust the Arryn boy king, and never will."

As if remembering an off hand thought, Rodrick grinned.

"Continue my policy of arming the mountain clans, feed them as well. Lord Remus will smuggle all the supplies from Three Sister's, and make sure it's done discreetly. Tell him to also try to send men with the supplies, to learn more of the people we patron. IF he could get a map out of them, all the better. Lord Remus must also send one of his children as a ward, my twins grow bored and clamor like cheated lords for a friend."

Small amounts of weapons and food would begin to trickle into the mountain clans, by Stark and Bolton's under the guise of smugglers. They are advised to keep quiet, and use the weapons only when they have to. A knight from White Harbor remains with a small retinue of northmen. They would help train any clansmen willing to have it. Lord Hornwood is invited to feast at Winterfell, and discuss matters of business. He is told to bring a few hundred men, as after the feast he would head south to defend Moat Cailin.

  8. People of the White Tower

The White Tower's navy halted in a well made crescent, and a single ship sails halfway to the Honisberg fleet. The Aes Sedai and five others were onboard, and sought to talk to whoever was deemed to speak to them. They would wait patiently as bowmen kept their arrows in the quiver but the hand not far away. Aes Sedai sat on the prows of the ship, communing with the spirits. Shai'tan worried at what might happen hovers over, watching and waiting.

The trees rebelling against the people sent tremors back to Tar Valon. People remembered when other Ajahs held sway, and only wanted peace. The Red still reigned supreme, but they were convinced to halt the advance. The damage would be allowed to regrow, but the steddings remained. Land around the major cities in the forest had long been cleared, and more trees in the south were as well. They would feed the growing navy in the ports of Illian and Falme. The market town was to receive wooden palisades as well. A road connected it all the way to Tar Valon, and more troops and caravans arrived. The south was a bustling hive of activity, as the north was a more rugged frontier.

The Honisberg Empire on their borders would not be repelled, but they would not leave their throat open either. Sentinel Rangers with men from the steddings head into the north. They are to lay supply caches, set up outpost, and scout. Maps were sent to Tar Valon, and the plan is debated in the White Tower. Most clamored for war, but wiser heads held them back. The people were peaceful and the other Ajahs were growing in power again. Instead troops are called in Tar Valon and Camelyn, as portions of the over staffed garrisons from Illian and Falme return. Aes Sedai in the north now simmering at the half of the advice are called back. All Aes Sedai not on a mission are recalled to the White Tower. They would come from all corners, with their personal retinues of warders and guards. The Sentinels are told to be ready, but kept in their city barracks and way forts.

The newly trained navy and their galley fleet head towards the military port. They would be initiated their, and keep the waters safe. Their actions would prove if a active marine force was needed and effective. Many preferred keeping to land and the forest, but people of Illian were more of the sea. Scorpions and catapults are to be crafted by Aes Sedai and craftsmen, and placed along the wall as a defensive range capability. The extensive homes and barracks in the ravine under Tar Valon are stocked with supplies and troops, always tense.

  9. People of the White Tower

The army at Illian had been built up silently since before it was a town, and they were ready. The fort now named Lugard loomed in the mountains and kept watch on sea and land. Illian itself was under way to receive stone walls from local quaries. Their maritime trade for now was solely with the Sincans, yet the profits were large. Rare commodities sold well to the rich of Tar Valon. The transports that had been built filled the beach. Fifteen thousand men boarded them, and they separated into two groups. Ten thousand Sentinels, twenty Aes Sedai, and their attendant 40 warders went west hugging the coast. Forty galleys sailed with them, and some holds were full of supplies, extra arms and armor. Some of it was distinctly smaller, as if the army intended to outfit children. Five thousand remained near harbor to begin actual training of being a naval solider.

To the western plains, the community had developed into a growing market town. The land around it and some of the forest has been cleared for agriculture. Soldiers kept the land safe and peaceful, allowing for undisturbed growth. The market town named Falme was small and unwalled, but troops there did as much work as they did soldiering. A road is to be built linking Falme to the capital Tar Valon, to further increase the territory. An Aes Sedai with a force of craftsmen and laborers find a suitable spot on the coast near Falme. They would build a military naval port, primarily meant to house, repair, and build the Tower's ships. A garrison of Sentinels would help keep it safe as it was underway. Some of the five thousand under naval training are sent to the port dubbed Fal Dara to help keep it safe and finish their course. Aes Sedai with any affinity to water are sent packing to the navy.

The large advance north continues, trying to draw out the ent. Behind them the forest is cleared and soil tilled. Hardy men would set up here, to keep the frontier and land gained safe. Watch towers and way forts run along the rugged country side, to help warn of any beast..or worse. The party that spoke with the halflings sent the diplomat off and good in stride. They grimly put on their armor and followed the diplomat. Obviously not intending to harm him, they instead asked to have chance to build the halfling military up. They would train the rabble to the best they could, and avoid conflict with any other foreigner within the land. Patrol ships are sent from Illian due south. They wished to map out what was south of their peninsula, and where the bugs in Tyre rumored to have came from.

Do you wish to play a GM? If you play a GM you probably can't play a faction: No

Faction of choice: House Stark, kings of the north and winter

Why you picked said faction: Because they offer a divers array of roleplaying, and I'm really interested in the Starks at this time. In regular times GoT they are banner-men to a central government...tamed. But what would it be like to play as them when they were the kings of winter. Keeping an eye on the rebellious Boltons, making sure the Arryns are kept in check, all in a days work. They are hardy northerners who adapt well to life, and will continue to eek out an existence. They are proud, and honorable, everything that the Ironborn are not. It will be a war for land and morals when it comes to Bear island, and I look forward to it.

Biography of faction. Describe your family in age and characteristics along with proving you read your faction's information section. Be realistic with family size, names (pick them based on historical members of your dynasty, ex. Mern for Gardener) age and personalities/capabilities: House Stark holds all of the north, residing in the capital of Winterfell. The islands of the vale have been taking as a result of winning, and trade coming from that into White harbor was well worth the war. The Boltons are kept in check for now, as the King of Winter, noble Rodrick Stark, limits their powers and vassals. He is a stern and unyielding man. Some would say he is stubborn to boot, and this is all true. But he is an expert in politics, and not to bad when he joins his vassals for war. Ice, that so revered vallaryian blade, sings in his hands when he choses to. Elsya had bade him put down his sword to look after his children however, and he had loved her very much. His deceased wife, Elysa Flint gave him three children before dying with the fourth on the child bed. In order of age, Torrehn Stark is strong willed, and alarmingly cold hearted. He will not hold back to reach his goals, and spends most of his time at the Wall, helping kill wildings with his men. Second, and third, are the twins, Sabeth and her brother Bran. Always getting into trouble, both are warm hearted. They can put a smile on the sternest Hornwood, and have before. Rickard and Torrehn have a distant relationship, but lord Stark has ensured his fierce pup will be able to rule the kingdom after him. He has a much more warm and loving relationship with his twins, who absolutely adore him. They all live happily in Winterfell, and the twins barely know of Torrehn. Things are going well, and marriage offers come in daily not only for the twins, but for lord Stark himeslf. The fourth boy barely out of his diapers was Jon. He seemed to be stubborn as his father, but as calm and bookish as his mother.

Rodrick's sister is strong willed, and lives with her husband, Lyle Umber. She does not answer to the Starks, and her husband answers to her. She and Rodrick have a distant relationship, and she likes to visit lord Bolton to make him fume.

Rodrick's brother, Jeor Mormont had married into the house several years ago. A man loyal and militaristic to the bone, he was a worthy vassal. He was the reason the west half of Rodrick's kingdom stays safe as it is, with constant patrols to deter Ironborn. He and his house are impoverished but well respected.

Rodrick's bastard brother, who he will not name, resides somewhere in Essos. As a mercenary he earns glory and gold for himself, fuming that the Stark lordship was passed over him for his bastard hood. Their father had chosen him, but Rodrick had snubbed him out with his noble blood.

Can you be active? A post every 2-3 days at minimum is expected: I can post every day, or every other at the least.

  11. A convoy of merchants left the port of Illian. Recently opened up to the Sincans, the ports were always busy. The town had grown to accommodate the sudden influx, and a road was planned to link it to Camelyn. This would make it faster to transport goods and troops. Convoys with large escorts kept coming, and it was soon more noticeable of the build up of troops. Many were on actual duty, but the rest ended up working. The fort was near completion, and the garrison had nearly doubled. The way forts all along the eastern coach were increased, as more and more foreign ships were spotted. Illian's inner quarter of graceful tree like buildings was to be walled off in stone. The rapidly growing outer districts were raw and poor. The people lived their lives making a working, and were not afraid to get into a brawl. Soldiers were sent to keep the place safe, but half of them seem to be the ones starting it.

A detachment of ten galleys leaves and heads due east. Primarily filled with explorers, map makers, artisans, nobles, guards, servants and adventurers, the leader of the expedition was an Aes Sedai. They would come on Tyre in good order as they channeled a favorable wind to speed them on. When they came upon the coast they made no effort to be discreet. Nine of the ten remained a respectful distance from the coast, impressive in their always maneuvering ways. One anchored close to shore, and a small party of diplomats, Aes Sedai, guards, servants, and nobles were taken in on a row boat. Long sleek, and with a canopy made entirely of sculpted tendrils of polished wood, the row boat was not of common make. It hit the sand silently and the people got off. Composing themselves, the guards and servants set to making a small camp for the party to rest in. They would not enter the jungle, and instead wait for the people of Tyre.

Settlers are sent west, to the fertile grassland that abruptly turned to forest. Steddings are established and hardy fold move in. A gathering around a small lake formed into a community, and with more to come. Soldiers kept the land safe, as they eyed the forest and coast warily. A party of an Aes Sedai, twenty warders, and fifty Sentinels heads along the coast, intent to follow it. They would eventually reach Gimblewood, and they planned to camp just in the border of their land. The soldiers took off their armor and kept it in the wagons, and they all seemed to be celebrating. The Red Ajah heard of the halflings, and also of all the gods hounding after the peaceful folk. They intended to draw a halfling diplomat to the merry festival on their border. If any so came, the Aes Sedai would receive the gift of their voice and try to talk to them.

The expedition into the forest was the first for many decades. They all knew of what happened when you went north, but the Red Ajah wanted that to happen. They were prepared, not throwing troops into the wilderness. The slow expansion of steddings has tamed some of the north, and the soldiers patrolling had hunted the packs of beast. Some still lurked, in the depths and their cackles could still be heard. But they would be dealt with, and anything else. Sentinels trained to be rangers darted amongst the treetops. with long bows and spears. They would advance ahead of the expedition, and hunt any small packs of beast. From there six groups of thirty sentinels each advanced. They would try to clear out any larger packs, and pave the way for the real advance. Next a large group of one hundred foresters, and two hundred Sentinels went due north. They would camp, and start to clear groupings of trees around them. From there a mixed forced would go in mass. Twenty Aes Sedai, eighty warders, and three hundred sentinels would slip into the forest. The Aes Sedai and Shai'tan himself created an illusion around the force, trying to keep them hidden as the formed a crescent around the foresters. They got the order, and began chopping trees into splinters, burning wild life, and scorching the soil. The Foresters brutally dismantled the plot of land, trying to draw in the ent.

  12. The Sincan diplomat was seen on his way with a joyous celebration. The Ajah's insisted he and his retinue receive an honor guard of galleys at sea. Six would travel with them back to the Sincan port. Trade was established, with the ports of Illian open to their new accomplice. Food, ore, and wood are primarily offered to be sold in exchange for goods they would name. The army stays where it is, adding it's numbers to the necessary task at hand. Smaller coastal ships have been built and add to the scouting of the guards amongst the coast in their way forts. The large ships meant to carry were also completed. They were beached on the coast, and Illian received an increase in supplies. The convoys coming from Tar Valon and Camelyn were  big, and had larger then usual amounts of troops in the escort. They stayed in Illian after getting there, and were put to work. Grumbling, they added their labour in the effort to build the town up. Wood carted from the forest was used to make a palisade, and increasingly bigger buildings.

Illian architecture was tall and slim, almost as if they wished to recreate the air of trees that they lost leaving the forest. Going many stories high, the tops were crenelated and could be used by troops as a last effort. Rope bridges connected some of the towers, and made it easy to move about the town. The port was empty but for galleys, coastal ships, and transports. It was enlarged for the planned accommodation of SIncan merchant ships. Raiders would be allowed to sell their plunder form Tyre, and be set on their way home with holds full of iron and food. Camelyn's walls were made stone from the help of the quarries, and were a dark grey. In stark contrast to Tar Valon's pure white, Camelyn was a dirtier and more industrious place. The population was growing to surpass even Tar Valon as it's production increased constantly. The forest around it was cleared and settled for farming, and the road connected it to Tar Valon. Between the two was almost all forested or farmed land, as further on the forest was allowed to regrow. Tar Valon was more militaristic, as citizens streamed in and volunteered. Retired soldiers all settled near the White Tower, forming a loyal core for the Red Ajah. The martial state was helped with the Aes Sedai metal weavers doing incredible things. They could channel as the iron was being made into something, making it stronger through channeling. Blades were their especial strong point, as they found a way to fold the metal many times over making it durable and flexible.

The foreign ships were viewed with caution from the coastal patrol ships. They kept to their routes as word was rushed to Illian. Troops working went on their guard, keeping weapons close. The people would wait to see what they did, not wishing to trouble with the passing ships. Expansion north continued, the forest being cleared for farming. Shai'tan himself kept a close eye, and directly urged the Ajahs to send their Aes Sedai to Tar Valon. Gathering from across the nation, they prepared. No longer were Sentinels the only patrols, they were now accompanied by heavily armored warders. Sometimes even an Aes Sedai went with them on a special mission, to root out the dark forest creatures. The mysterious tree creature did not appear yet, but the White Tower was tense with prepared aggression. Troops are rallied in Tar Valon and Camelyn, all being outfitted with special additions. Netting, flammable liquid, sharp axes, and torches. They were told what was expected of them, and of the beats in the forest. They were supplied for the campaign, and were told to await the order to advance into the wild.

A small castle is to be built in the stone hills near Illian, to watch over the sea and town. It would start relatively small with a high inner stone wall, and wooden palisades to form an outer ring. A large keep was to soar into the sky. The keep was to be made of stone carted all the way from Tar Valon. An imitation of the White Tower, it would remind the people of it's presence. A large pile of wood would lie on top. An Aes Sedai to be stationed there would light it if ever trouble came. Stone is quarried locally, a dark and rugged sort. Wood was carted form the forest, and all the other supplies arrived from Camelyn. The garrison was sent their to help work, and Aes Sedai lent a hand in channeling the stone into more complex and aesthetic ways. More wood is brought from the increasing clearings to build more galleys.

  13. Reaction

The diplomat from the Sincans was looked at with curiosity and awe. The people of the Tower had never seen another race, let alone one that was so fey. Some muttered under their breath but most rejoiced at the thought of foreign contact. They looked formidable so the Red Ajah took a subtle approach, knowing their defenses were being shown off. A large train of men is dispatched from Tar Valon to Illian. At the head of one thousand troops, eighty Aes Sedai mainly of the Red led. They arrived to Illian in quick time, and the army was camped in the plains. The confirmed representative of the Ajah's met the diplomat in Illian's town inn, and there they began to talk. Speaking of one another's ways, culture, and many other things. It soon turned to politics however, as they began to discuss the Sincan raids. The army is there to assure the Sincans they chose wisely in not attacking, and was a show of force. But perhaps that show of force could turn into a show of the beginnings of a cooperative....

It showed the Tower would have to make their navy better, and diversify it. Smaller sleek ships are built to keep the coast safe. Ships with large holds are also prioritized, and would be capable of transporting troops or goods.

Shai'tan speaks slowly, his voice rasping out.

"I will support this city, and help build it. I ask we agree however that ALL of the swamp not already taken is kept neutral, to ensure no one has too much sway on a city that will be so liable to war."

  14. The war right on their borders was increasing in intensity. Raiders were seen far out to ocean, by patrolling galleys. They would stay well away, but could not avoid them for ever. A confrontation begun as a White Tower galley ran into a raiding ship returning to it's desert port with a hold full of plunder. The galley stayed a respectful distance, and signaled their wish to communicate peacefully. Archers in the towers and behind the wood defenses balked at the sight of jackals, and kept an arrow ready. The port town Illian was coming along, within dock set up within the harbor. The buildings were shabby for now, but more supplies were being carted in. The force stayed with the town, or was divided to patrol supply routes, defend the coast, or travel with the navy.

The murder of most of the prominent Ajah's leaders was sudden and created a vacuum. The Red Ajah rose to power immediately, and people began to doubt how legitimate the ascension was. They had no one else to look to however, as the Hermit had disapeared the night of the murder. The Red Ajah took up in the White Tower, and ruled the nation from there. They were more aggressive in their policies, and sent troops south and west to establish outpost. To the north slow expansion of steddings happened as they debated how to deal with the ent. In Tar Valon itself the city was kept in a tight reign, and red was displayed everywhere. Aes Sedai, warders, and Sentinels kept the peace, and kept work flowing. In Camelyn, they had a more lenient tendency to other Ajah's. They were powerless to help though, and was brought under the Red's will. Illian was a raw town, and the increase of troops kept their influence their strong. It is planned to build a fort near Illian, and scouts head out to find a suitable location.

Shai'tan knew it was time to reveal himself, and appeared suddenly at the meeting of gods. Almost completely obscured by mist swirling around him, it seemed the gods could glance faces within the mist. Only his face was shown, and that was hidden for the most part by a red shawl. Taking a seat he remained quiet and let the others stare, as he thought on the city. It would be close to his lands, and could be the ignition of a massive war. It could pay off however and he was inclined to listen.

The abundance of ore was noticeable, as the mines churned out raw resources for the forge to produce. Almost all of the Tower's military arms were well supplied, the the rest was stored or sold off to the citizens. Good quality iron was ready to be sold off, and Shai'tan waited for a god to approach him about the sales of this iron. Lumber was another thing he had in plenty, as more forest to the south were cut down to feed the growing navy and towns. Tar Valon's walls had long been stone, and Camelyn was next to receive improved defenses. It would be built larger then the town itself to accommodate for growth. A road is to be built and will link Tar Valon and Camelyn. The trees are cut down, and stone quarried from the ravine to be laid down. Outpost along the way would hold garrisons of troops and messengers, to quickly relay information.

  15. The one ravaged survivor stumbled into Tar Valon, and finally collapsed. An Aes Sedai gave what healing she could. With the man's last dying breath he told them of what had happened to the expedition. The people were horrified, and the people clamoring for the expedition sank into the shadows. People erupted into chaos, not knowing what more the tree beast could do to them. People even dared suggest going out and killing it, but they were silenced. Life went on and the mining city now named Camelyn became a small town in it's own right. South east of Tar Valon, it was still relatively close.

From Camelyn however, people called for the expansion east. Scouts sent that way not going north first had reported forest turning into foothills, and then the great ocean. No one besides the scouts had seen one before, and they all wanted a taste. Shai'tan whispered in the Hermit's ear of what could be done at sea, and he cried for another expedition. This one would be larger, more planned, and rest a move then an adventure. At the advance of the four hundred settlers to come were the warriors and channelers. A full thirty Aes Sedai with an escort of sixty Warderds freshly and fully armored form the forges. Behind their advance was three hundred Sentinels of the Tower, and two hundred archers from the stiffened men of the steddings. They would fight any of the forest beast-natural or fey-and try to scare the ent off. If it even appeared some argued. When they reached the stone hills, they set up outpost to watch the ocean. The settlers [hopefully] came in behind the advance with an escort of warriors equal size to the vanguard.

They would live in the small strip of fertile plains north of the stone hills. Settling on the coast they would head directly east of Camelyn and only risk going north while walking along the coast. The town was to be named Illian, and Shai'tan gave them the ability to make ships, and lumber was hauled from the forest. The ships had two to three triange sails, and the one deck ran long and true. The prow was tipped with a ram, and the side railings raised and supplemented in wooden cover. Arrow slits ran through the covers for archers, while lower down holes for the oars. The deck under the main one was below the waterline and used for storage. They superstitiously only cut the wood for it in the south, then carted it east to the planes before north. Other supplies to build the town came with it, and half of the force was dedicated to guarding the supply line. Back in Tar Valon the miners went deeper into the ravine, finding more seams and caverns to mould into homes. Aes Sedai with the talent to mould stone or iron were highly prized, and paid well to make good quality stone and iron work.

With the model of the forge copied and a whole district in Tar Valon -let alone the town of Camelyn dedicated to the production- of forged were made. With the ores coming quickly from Camelyn and the ravine, they were able to go at a quick rate. The warders were given well made iron arms and armor, and nearly every Sentinel had a weapon or armor piece of Iron. Archers arrows were tipped with the sharp ore, replacing wood and stone.

The people still worshipped Shai'tan fervently, as the proof being a temple being raised in Camelyn. They did not however want to be ruled over completely, and formed different political groups called Ajahs. With not much to display their views in the form of icons or banners, they settled on colors. The Red Ajah were the ones who had previously -and still do- clamor for war and expansion, while the Blue practiced reaching solutions the peaceful way and using force as a last. The green focused on agriculture, healing, and studying the forest...and the tree beast. The list went on and some Ajah's did what others preached, nothing was clear cut. They were there however, and Shai'tan let it happen. He was a deity of spirits, everything living had one. Some even say the dead, but so foul and corrupt it would be. The more diverse the spirits, the more he could gain from it. Having a diverse people worship him filled him with power, and yet Shai'tan still persisted on remaining quiet and keeping still.

  16. Everyone heard of the fate of the scouts they sent out. Even now people were debating what to do, most favoring staying huddled to the ravine like always. This way became popular when the Hermit endorsed it, and the people believed Shai'tan would protect them. The ravine's caves were extensive and sculpted beautifully by pick and channeling spirit. On the land near it the community had developed into a town, with bridges, buildings, and platforms spanning across the ravine near the White Tower. A palisade is being built using the nearby bountiful forest, the woodsmen guarded by Sentinels of the Tower. A new military institution formed by the suggestion of the Hermit who Shai'tan bid do such. Aes Sedai and their warders were fierce but small in number. As such the Sentinels of the Tower were ordinary people volunteering to join the force. Their purpose was to do the basic work while the Aes Sedai did more delicate task. Equipped with weapons from the forge that has been long at work now with the raw material from the mine. Their armor was usually light and the Sentinels traditionally draped a pelt of many different animal hides over their chest.

Bows were made from the local wood, and were kept lightweight but with a good poundage of draw. Having lived in the forest so long, the People of the Tower were adept at hiding in the tree tops or forest floor. Having practiced from stalking animals, they could navigate the woods quietly. With all this martial pride instilled, the people still refused to venture to far from the White Tower. They remembered the scouts long dead, and stayed close. Besides the town by the Tower, the mine settlement was growing faster as more business flowed through. With such a great pick, mining was easy and quick. Copying the model of the first forge, more were set up in the settlements of the Tower. Ore was shipped to these places and produced into whatever was needed. Steddings all throughout the land made up the minority of the population. They were the frontiersman, not huddling for safety in a town. They were hardy folk and fiercely stubborn. Not giving ground to the beast of the woods, they farmed and eked out a life.

The town around the White Tower was named Tar Valon as the population grew. The forest around it was cleared for some distance, and recently settled by suburban farmers. The sense of being packed in was noticeable, and people again began clamoring for expansive expansion. Instead of sending scouts they shouted that the Aes Sedai march into the trees at the head of a troop of Sentinels stiffened by warders. The Hermit could not persuade them this time, and Shai'tan remained pointedly silent to avoid any hate from either side. Still fearful however, the people did not want to send so many as to be left defenseless.

Called the search for the scouts by people desperately in need of humor, three Aes Sedai, twelve warders, and twenty sentinels head north. Shai'tan had sensed something coming from there, but still could not risk involving himself. Instead he sent a storm to subtly manipulate the happenings of his people. So fierce, the expedition had to turn east and avoid the storm blocking them from the north and the swamps. They went further then any ever had, and they would continue on until finding something of value. Life went back to normal back in the lands of the White Tower, as people speculated fate of the expedition. The balance of life was on a knife's edge however, the expedition would mark the success or defeat of a faction clamoring for expansion. Life was becoming more complicated then survival, and different people had different views. Factions usually headed by Aes Sedai formed and began to express their views and try to see them become real. The Hermit was becoming more and more silent in the Tower, and the people spoke for themselves.

  17. The scouts bring the schematic back to the Hermit of the Tower, hoping he would know what to do. Communing with Shai'tan, the god gives him the ability to make the picks. Soon workers under protection of Aes Sedai and their warders head to the mineshaft to begin harvesting the ores there. They also use the picks to effectively carve out the caves in the ravine, shaping it to their liking. Going further in, and with defenses in the form of barriers of stone. The population was growing, and more people of the Tower headed from the ravines into the surrounding forest. The clearings with their wheat, and the rivers and lakes were the location of small hamlets. Around the mineshaft a small community is developing with the influx of labour.

Shai'tan allowed the Hermit to reveal him to his people, they were ready to know of his existence. Aes Sedai with the gift of the soul worshiped him fervently, and the people of the Tower's faith was not in question. They praised the gift of the soul, and the spirits that allowed everything to be as it is. The White Tower is seen as a symbol, one for the people they were, and for the god they now worshipped. The Hermit is seen as a disciple of Shai'tan. Already thriving from people drawing in from the woods, more people moved from the ravines and lived directly by the White Tower. Remembering the sounds coming from the woods, armed patrols always led by Aes Sedai patrol the nearby land. Wondering what else there could be in the forest, more scouts are sent out to explore the forest.

Shai'tan felt the presence of some gods, and strongly when others called out to everyone. Deciding his people weren't ready for contact with others, he pointedly remained silent. He would seek others out in his own time, but for now would find out what he could and keep his people as hidden as possible. His sense of unease grew when he felt the being of two greater then he, and thanked his good choice in keeping discreet.

  18. The land had been prepared, it was by far more hospitable for human life then it had previously been. The Hermit of the Tower had been alive for longer then should be normal, and he has become ever so wise in his years of pondering. When he reached a full level of enlightenment, Shai'tan appeared before him in the tower.

"You are my first creation, and soon many will follow your foot steps. I have prepared the land for you, and have given you the gift of the soul. You can channel the spirits, where things live, you can channel. However, you must never partake in violence. You must be an example to mine, and now your, people. Show them the way from this tower, nurture them from this tower, rule from this tower"

With that he faded into the mist, and created people in his own likeness. Few at first, the Hermit emerged from the tower to teach them all he has learned. The clearings and rivers provided food and life, and were readily avail-be to be harvested. The tall, pale, willowy people were quick to learn, and started small communities amidst the tree tops. It was soon apparent Shai'tan had given certain people the gift of the soul, and the Hermit set to teaching them how to channel the spirits. Using it to make food grow faster, or change the course of rivers, people made living easier. It was soon apparent protection would be needed however. The newly formed Aes Sedai would be people who could channel after being given the gift of the soul. They could draw the essence of the spirits into them, and send it back out in any form they could manipulate it as.

Not all were given the gift of the soul however, and a warrior caste was created at the suggestion of the Hermit. The Aes Sedai would form special bonds with their chosen warder(s), granting them heightened abilities, but not the ability to channel spirits. The bond would be unbreakable and everlasting, and the warders were dedicated to their Aes Sedai.

With a relatively low population, the People of the Tower would continue to inhabit the hospitable forest around the ravine, and a certain caste chose to live in the honeycomb caves running the length of the ravine. None ever delved all the way down, for who knew what lurked in the depths. More scary however were the strange noises coming from above and around the ravine. People drew in, sticking closer to the White Tower and the Hermit. More chose to live in the caverns, as braver Aes Sedai and their warders protected the frontier.

  19. Not so much awakening more so coming back to full consciousness, Shai'Tan emerged once more into the world. Traveling up for many miles, he emerges from the great ravine he had found himself staying in. On all sides were mighty trees, and it seemed there was no end to the thickly forested land. Forest creatures were in abundance, making quite a living off the intense ecosystem. But it seemed as if it was not whole, as if a key element was missing. Shai'Tan realized he was lonely, and not a single soul of his likeness existed. However, he was not like the others. He thrived off of spirits, as he was the deity of it. The trees, the woodland critters, they all had a soul, a spirit. Feeding off that, Shai'Tan knew he still wanted to push ahead.

Instead of creating a figure in his likeness right away, he began to mold the land. Clearings were made in the ever so dense forest, allowing life to sprout. Bushes with berries, wild wheat, wild crops grew with the allowance of space and light. The ravine was kept as it was, but on a land bridge with a circular middle, a massive rock spire shot towards the heavens. Made of the purest white stone, as was the rest of the ravine, it was hollow in the middle. With natural steps rising along it's slopes, it was a perfect place to live...but that was for another time.

Channels were gouged through the forest, allowing water to flow more freely. Lakes sprung out from the springs beneath feeding them, and the trees cut back from these, allowing life to prosper. Animals were divided and began to adapt and evolve in different ways, starting diverse areas within the forest. This allowed more types of spirits to flourish, which was his purpose after all.

The land was moulded to Shai'Tan's will, and has become abundant in life and hospitality. He was tired from this exertion however, and could only create a little more. His first man was created, in the very likeliness of him himself. The man was given the gift of the soul, and could channel the spirits. Wandering the woods, unknowing of Shai'Tan's existence, he took residence in the tower. And thus the Hermit of the Tower lived.

    United Kingdom

The United Kingdom was on top, in the peak of the revered Victorian era. All across the world a Brit could be found, from the beaches of Jamaica to the penal colonies of Australia. Queen Victoria despite all her fame, was just a figurehead. The true power laid in parliament, and it's various organization's. In the strange lands of Asia, the East India Company reigned supreme. With a charter from parliament they enacted it's will and accounted for most of the trade. Making huge profits to fund private militia, they worked together with English regulars. In Europe itself the English navy remained strong and diligently patrolled it's waters. In England itself people could rest easy in the middle class, and were privileged. A prime hub for trade the profits made were high, and abundance was plenty. Also the industrial heart of the empire, workers from Ireland, Wales, and Scotland worked in factories. Partially protected by Unions, they were paid well and had a high output. In Ireland the Queen visited often, and tried to improve relations with. Despite this tensions were still high, and wrong policies could result in rebellion.

In the United Kingdom's colonies civil liberties were less abundant. Australia was a place for prisoners, opportunist, and the navy. India was mainly governed by it's own elected officials, but we're nothing more then English puppets. New Zealand was a place of the good ol' English, with maori tribals being pushed inland. Canada was given increasing amounts of home rule, but is still an important node in the military network. In South Africa a white and English minority lord over the many black africans, and is an increasingly rich and militarized area.

In Europe parliament holds session and enacts laws to adapt to the modern times. In established colonies such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and India local militias were to be raised. Under a watchful body of UK soldiers composed of regular troops and some officers, local and loyal civilians of English and Colonial descent would be armed and trained into small bands. Tasked to protect their local province, they would free up the amount of UK soldiers needed to garrison taken land.

England's ship yards receive government funding to expand and modernize their works. The French had built the first ironclad, and England's was close behind. After their first ship, parliament was persuaded by the admiralty of their worth. In an effort to modernize, and compete with France, improved dockyards are to soon be building Ironclad's for the government. Fifteen ships of the line, and twenty five frigates to escort the soon to be refitted ships. With the freeing of United Kingdom troops, they were also recalled back home to have a well deserved rest and resupply. Troops already in England are raised, and told they were to take the returning men's places. Almost Thirty thousand fresh troops are beginning to mobilize and head to muster points. Markedly less troops were taken or recruited from Ireland, in an attempt to keep the calm.

In Australia settlement is encouraged, as the Aboriginal tribals have been contained in the heart of the land. Still a penal colony as well, cities and provinces received a boon in cheap labour, making road construction quicker if not more costlier in lives. The coastal trade cities receive noticeable increases, as the East India Company moves naval routes to accommodate and protect Australia. Not directly propping them up, parliament let the company do it for them to save the money. India receives and increase in garrison forces as the need to control becomes apparent. India was modernizing, and cheap labour in English factories was paying off. 'The Jewel of the Crown' was it's nickname, and would be guarded as fiercely as if it were so. Protestant plantations are encouraged, farmland being given to men of the faith to increase it's influence in India. To an extent Indian coastal cities begin producing Ironclad's with the profits made from the extensive trade.

In South Africa a force of some Fifteen thousand UK troops is assembled. Supported by locally raised militias that teach them in the ways of desert warfare, they head north. Taking the African tribals under arms or bribery, the UK sphere of influence was to be increased in all of southern Africa. A strong naval detachment is to pick up active troops from England, and steam towards the English Caribbean to increase the guards there.

The Swedish offer of alliance is agreed upon, parliament welcoming another protestant ally. Agreeing to open trade, they attempt to increase relations.
