My family obtained its wealth through a lucrative mining operation. At least that's what I've been told, I really don't quite remember all the details of my family's past, but I've always been told the stories of my grandfather Mando, who killed my great grandfather and my great uncle in an attempt to take over the family fortune and become the leader of clan Lenblade, Although that detail was only recently revealed to me by my father, Remmius. I remember one particular day in my childhood, it was the day that my Grandmother died. It was only a few years ago, but it feels like an eternity. From that day, I remember only a few details. Specifically seeing my cousin Borus, of whom I have little knowledge, besides the occasional story from my grandfather. The events that transpired next seem slightly obscured in my memory, but I remember seeing my uncle wielding a bow, and pointing it at my astranged cousin. The next thing I can remember is my cousin limping off and away from the villa, and only a few weeks later, I woke in the middle of the night to the screams of my family, as my father rushed into my room, leading me and the others out as my childhood home burned to the ground behind us. That was the last thing I remember about my childhood villa. Possibly the greatest tradgedy of this story is the disappearance of my slightly older cousin Rothgar, who I considered one of my greatest childhood friends. We grew up together up until his disappearance on the day of my grandmother's funeral. I have not seen him since, and while my family seems to believe that he died in the fire, I remember missing his presence days before that tragic event. In the years following that event, I only stayed with my family for a short amount of time before embarking on a journey of my own. I suppose the destruction of my home made me restless, restless enough to leave my family behind in an attempt to search for my lost cousin. Although he was my cousin, he always felt more like a brother, I followed him around endlessly and regarded him as someone to look up to, even though he was only a few years older than me. In truth, I was never quite able to find him. I searched far and wide, from the grand city of Oren, even to the sands outside San'Orka, thinking that maybe he had lost himself there and was in grave danger, even after all these years. I suppose my blind sense of hope made me willing to believe any lie I decided to tell myself. Even though I never found Rothgar, I suppose my journey had its own rewards. I learned how to fend for myself from city to city, using the little money I saved before my silent departure to buy clothing and other necessities, and constantly keeping my eyes out for plants, animals, and water around the paths I endlessly travelled. I lived off of what I had, and I did so honestly, never having to resort to thievery, and using the images of Rothgar, and even the bright flames that engulfed my home as my own personal motivation. I normally tried to keep to myself, never seeing the point in making "friends," whom I only thought would serve to slow me down, or worse yet, abandon me when I began to rely on them. I suppose I work best alone. In retrospect, I was foolish to have even tried to find Rothgar. I'm not sure what could have lead me to believe he could have survived on his own for all those years, and even more impressive, how he could have eluded my search. Yet I still find myself wandering, either still clinging to the hope of locating Rothgar, or simply because I don't really know how to do anything else. Ambitions for the Future: I have no set goals or plans for the future ahead of me, but instead intend to continue my "search" wandering from city to city, simply surviving, and continuing my journey with no set destination, instead allowing, if not always accepting the events ahead of me. Personality: Serious, but often restless, constantly in motion. Skills: Swordsmanship from training as a child, and some skill in hunting/foraging, but mainly in the interest of sustaining myself along my journey. Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin): Light brown hair, dark eyes, and a light brown beard as well. http://imgur.com/DFWJmjt Any other details you wish to share about your character:I mostly enjoy solitude, feeling that others may slow me down or become an annoyance. Open-Response-Questions Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point. ____ 1. Whilst in the mighty human capital you notice a dark-clothed figure stealthily making his way towards the Emperor’s palace - he is clearly up to no good. There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do? Answer: I reach for my sword initially, but stop myself, thinking the situation through. Realizing that this matter simply isn't one for impulse and impatience. I discreetly approach one of the guards, and point out the hooded figure, keeping my voice as low as possible as not to sound alarm where it may not be necessary, instead, allowing the guard to handle the strange hooded figure, as I slowly walk away to my own business and wandering. 2. Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you come across a large clearing, in which sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man armed with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed bandits - they appear to be threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron longsword, how do you react? Answer: Once again, I reach for my sword, but this time, my impulse is too great for me to stop and think about my surroundings. My decision is obviously a foolish one, as these bandits are heavily armed, and can easily overpower me. Still, I walk towards them with my weapon drawn, in order to appear more threatening. I tap one of them on the shoulder, trying my best to maintain a strong stance and determined expression. Looking directly into the bandit's eyes, I tell them to leave the man alone, asking what they could possibly want from him, and imploring them to find someone else to harass, threatening to notify the nearest guards, claiming that I encountered one only a few moments ago along the path. They reluctantly walk away from the man, as I keep my eyes fixed on them until they are gone. My bluff worked, however, I put myself and the man in greater danger by intervening the way I did, as I could have angered the bandits, and made them even more hostile. I silently ponder my decision as I walk away without another word said to the old man. 3. You are standing within the mighty human capital when you notice a small man standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that the man is selling a variety of general goods - he says that he is selling just about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of choice and the discussion that happens). Answer: Although I'm not the best at bargaining, and I'm always impatient around vendors, he has an iron sword, which I could desperately use, as I lost my weapon on the path toward the city in an encounter with some bandits. I try to convince him to sell me the sword for 30 coins, as I don't have very much money. The man says he would like at least 40 coins for the sword, and refuses the deal. Not willing to match the raised price, I instead offer to replace the extra 10 coins with some leather to trade. The man still refuses the deal, as he already has enough leather in stock. Becoming very impatient with my failed efforts to reduce the price of the iron sword, I decide to simply pay the full price. I give the stall-keeper a sharp glance as he sets the sword on the counter, extending his hand toward me. I grab the 40 coins from my pouch and drop them into his hand. I take the sword, and continue through the city without looking back, keeping my gaze fixed on the path ahead of me, and avoiding any other contact.
